Me too.

really wasn't looking to add on but wanted to see what they would offer. I was hoping for more than just AKV. I might have been able to sway my DH for around 100 more BLT points. Oh well. Gives us more time to explore other resorts to see where we would like to add on.

Not me! We did an add on on the Disney Magic and the offer was $19 off for 220 points. We now get $22 off per point!

Disappointed because of the "deal" or because of the fact that Disney in in the entertainment business and DVD can't produce a professional looking web cast?

We were disappointed. We were considering another 50-75 points at GCV. They didn't even mention deals for that resort, only AKV. For all the pre-webcast hype that the deals were "unbelievable", we didn't find them to be so.

:rotfl: My husband said the same thing - it looks as if they aren't even trying to make it look good for us. I wonder if the webcast is more professional looking for non-members? :confused3 This wouldn't have impressed me much. Okay, it didn't impress me much.

Both. For a 100 point add, it's only an additional $2 off per point, so $200 savings. I know $200 is $200, but not enough for us to say "wow" this is a deal. Oh well, wasn't meant for us to add on right now.

No kidding. I could barely hear it, and the video quality was horrible. And the "wonderful holiday promotion" -- only for AKV? Bah humbug.

I was surprised that there wasn't a BLT incentive since they spent a segment there.

And with all the fancy finishes and views, etc. of BLT, the best backdrop they could come up with for their "set" was the pre-fab concrete wall?

They did state that AKV was being used as an example. There are special offers on all the resorts. Unfortunately none come close to the AKV offer. BLT is only $10 off at the 160pt level.

They definitely didn't make that clear. They could've said or even put up another screen that said, "To learn about additional offers, please click on the chat button or call your guide", but they didn't. Very poorly presented.

I agree - I am okay that they didn't mention every deal, but they could have said, "if you are interested in other properties, we are offering incentives there as well. Please call your guide and let him/her know so we can get that information to you." Not effective communication to say the least!

Tonights deals are tracking with what I was told a couple of months ago and what I posted here on the boards.

DVD decided to back off pushing BLT because of poor sales after it opened. They will let it rest for a while while they push AKV. If sales at AKV don't pick up, you will see another deal or additional incentives.

Watching now. Mildly amusing so far, audio is fine, but the streaming video quality isn't very crisp (grainy; unfocused...). Seems very webcam ish, not a pro presentation. No DeeVee Cee so far, though. I doubt there will be anything new to post about, but if something surprising comes up I'll write again.

They really are pushing using your points for anything other than DVC resorts, aren't they?

They did have a second screen during tonight's webcast that noted to call your guide or click on the box to speak to someone about other offers at BLT, VCG, SSR.

And I also thought the video was very grainy - poor quality. I had a very hard time reading the family names on the photo album pages.

Yes, definitely pushing the other uses of your points - lots of talk of ski resorts, DCL and Europe.

Also got the "technical difficulties" screen on the right side and the blue screen on the left. Happened during Casey's shpiel from EPCOT.

Agree that you couldn't read the family names well during the testimonial portion - the effect I got was almost a reflection of an artificial light gleaming off a printed document - center of the video was "white out".

Wonder what the next incentive will be?:rolleyes1

The prices won't last that long and if you are a regular here and have already learned a lot about the DVC program you probably wouldn't get much from their speil. So is it "worth it"? Probably not, but that depends on what you really mean by that. However, if you register and would like the free litho, go for it! That's mainly why I signed up; curious if anything new might be said (their wasn't) and Mouse related freebies are nice. :goodvibes I had it open on one screen and was surfing the boards intermittently on the other (dual monitors rock! ;) ), so minimal loss of my time!

Kind of a let down for me as well.... However, the thought came to me (and they don't come often) if they can offer this kind of service, why can't they broadcast the yearly association meetings.

There would be no need for glitzy back drops and staging, but all of us that can't make it to Florida every year, could at least hear and see whats going on....

I had the same thought. Pretty embarrassing in this day and age. The on screen people were also pretty dreadful. They should have let Casey do the whole thing. She at least has some charisma.

OK, my newbie status is showing here, but where do you get access to the webcasts? I haven't received my pkg yet from DVC, though curious because my guide said he'd FedEx it Thursday Morn.
Do I need my DVC info first to access this?
More importantly, did I as a new member miss something important? Maybe a better incentive on my 240-pt BLT purchase ($5 off for $115/pt)?

More importantly, did I as a new member miss something important? Maybe a better incentive on my 240-pt BLT purchase ($5 off for $115/pt)?

You might have; although the incentive is officially for people who attended the webcast only (and it focused on presenting deals for AKV), call your guide ASAP and ask them about it and perhaps complain about not getting an invite; there is a good chance they will give it to you if you haven't signed all your documents yet (or are within your 10 day right to rescind period).

Good luck!

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought there were incentives for all currently marketed properties--it's just they used AKV as an example. If that's what you want I would call your guide and ask.

I watched it today too, and was really unimpressed with a variety of things. I actually was doing other stuff through most of it, just listening to see if anything actually picqued my interest enough to flip back to that screen. Finally when the incentives came on - I saw what was offered for AKV, then instantly hit the "chat with DVC" buton to see about VGC. The lady I spoke with was nice enough (she ended up having to call me instead of "chatting" online), and shared that the incentive for VGC was identical to AKV. I just finished reviewing the email that she sent me about it as well.

The interesting thing, though, that I noticed, was these "incentives" were no different than what they offered me last week while on site at VGC during the Welcome Home Member event. Now I've wasted my time twice. Oh well, shame on me for thinking there would actually be something better this time around. The nice thing is that she said the pricing for this webcast would be good through Jan. 2nd - whereas the pricing from the member event was supposedly only good through the end of my stay - although the guide I met with while on site a week ago called me yesterday to see if I was interested or not. At least this way DW and I have some additional time to consider whether we add-on now or not.

I thought it was amazing! It had the production values of an Ed Wood Movie and all the laughs of Dude Wheres my car! I too thought, wow, their filming in a warehouse and Wow, I thought the christmas scenes would have made it worthwhile, instead It was a 'how lifeless can we make WDW look contest'

That said, the $20 pp off is $10 more than we were offered in Sep and they are banking 2009 points, so, as of today, we own at AKV!

We had been considering it since sep, but still getting an extra years points to use next christmas and the discount was enough for us, so while it was painful to watch, it at least was effective for us!

I must have one of the nicest DVC Guides in WDW. :cool1: I called him on Friday and told him I'd be watching the webcast on Saturday, then wanted to talk to him about adding 100 points on at BLT.

He called back and left me a message saying, "All you need to do is log onto the webcast. No need to sit through it. Just start it running, then you can walk away from it. You have to log on for me to give you the incentive, but you don't have to watch it. I'll call you back on Saturday afternoon."

So I did. And he did. I didn't watch it and he gave me the incentive. Painless on both sides.

So Merry Christmas to me! I just bought myself an early gift. 100 more points. Peace on earth.
