Cameron has just come into me and said he has been looking out of the window at the stars and he doesnt want to go to heaven he wants to stay with us on earth !! He said he didnt know what to do because if jesus asked him if he was a good boy he couldnt lie but he didnt want to go live there with the stars.
What am i supposed to tell a scared 8 yr old?? My whole heart wants to tell him he will be ok but I cant so instead i gave him ahug and put him back to bed.
Cant help thinking that he knows something by coming to say this out of the blue ???
I just dont know what to say to him x x x

You've all been through so much that I'm sure this wasn't just "out of the blue" he must have been thinking things over for a long time and has experienced things most other 8 year olds wouldn't even begin to imagine.

I'm sure your hug was the best answer you could give him.

I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must have been for you to have listen to such heart breaking words from Cam, but both me and Elaine know that if anyone could make him feel safe and secure it would be you.

If I were in your position Louise then I wouldn't hesitate to tell Cam that everything is going to be OK - even if deep down you know there is a chance that it might not be. It could be that that's all he needs to help him through the difficult times ahead.

Woah you guys made my eyes leak again.
I wish i had the faith in me that you guys have - I did a wonderful job of passing the buck this morning and cams support worker at the school has promised to talk to him about his worries and to explain death to him in a way he hopefully understands.
I think the hardest part of this is that Cam at 8 has more idea of his own mortality than my eldest has at 11. I do believe thats its an important part of Cameron accepting who he is and Im hoping that the school can give him the answers he wants without the emotion that me and dh show.

I agree with Tinks what a brave boy you have, I hope he gets some answer's from his support worker, I think you did the right thing in 'passing the buck' I can't imagine how difficult it must be to try and answer those questions without getting emotional, and your only trying to protect him from seeing you upset. You are very strong, and you've got the support of so many people your family and friends and all of us here on the boards.

My Neice had similar thoughts when she was young, as a family we found this a worry, but for us religion helped i.e. Sunday School, but I know this isn't for everyone.
