You are so creative! I'm going to have to remember that countdown idea when Claire is old enough to understand what a countdown is!

thanks Julie...that is one of the great perks of Disney it's not something you re-do over and over or the been there done that type of place...because as it changes so do you and your families....each trip has been something special for us...to see and watch your as the kids grow they enjoy different and new things...you will love bringing Claire to Disney :goodvibes

Those brownies look delicious. I totally see the Mickey Head!

:thumbsup2

Love the Lion King! I remember seeing it with Jeff at the theater when it came out.

MMMM....brownies! And I saw the hidden Mickey right away! What a great night! Oh...and I love the look on Naomi-Ruth's face in the cookie pic. "Slimy, yet satifsying!"

Love the countdown chain. I can't believe we're almost to double digits! That is when it always flies for me. It's hard right now to be keeping the trip a secret. The kids keep asking when we are going back to WDW and I just want to tell them but we did a surprise trip in Oct 08 and the LOVED it so I'm trying to stay strong......

Only 3wks til school starts, we should get together again and catch up with everything.

I know...it always cool to see something tangible when awaiting something...Nathan this morning was telling me about how he feels days go by so fast...we've already taken 3 links off...and then the realization as the days go so fast...how he doesn't want the days when we are there to go that fast...

I agree

then he conti w/ telling me how if we lived on different planets how their days compare to earth days...and we wouldn't want to live on Jupiter while at Disney cause their days are only 2 hrs long....

:rotfl:

I know I had to keep my self from bursting out and singing along the whole time...

oh and speaking of songs...you'd be proud, since we heard TMSEP is extended and who knows if it will be still running Thanksgiving week but we are prepping w/ listening to the parade music off Bekah's MP3 player :music:

Test Track licenses are very cute! :thumbsup2

thanks I thought it was such a cute idea

Oh man I know that feeling...the twins and Rachel's first trip was a surprise untill we got to the airport and it was tough to keep it under wraps...but I can't imagine once they are older...they seem to always know when something is up!

Only 3wks til school starts, we should get together again and catch up with everything.

Yes definetly...I'm not positive my schedule yet during the day...but Thursdays I should be free mostly!

Definitely!! :thumbsup2

I'll book a ticket and head on over....

hey that's my Birthday....I will be home for sure untill the evening when I'll be going to a Cubs game...I am looking forward to the game night w/ my Dad (our annual Father Daughter b-day outing) too bad the Cubs stink royal this yr :sad2:

It's a theatre persay...but a very huge roller screen attached to the ceiling, Matt's old stero surround sound system and his lucky salvage from work projector ;) it's great fun for watching movies!

Yes Naomi-Ruth has tried those too...these were actually a different brand...she didn't seem to care but they were more crumbly

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

“ With its lush flora, winding streams, meandering paths, and exotic setting, Animal Kingdom is a stunningly beautiful theme park…add to this loveliness a population of more than 1,000 animals, replicas of Africa’s and Asia’s most intriguing architecture, and a diverse array of original attractions, and you have the most distinctive of all Disney theme parks.”

~excerpt from the Unofficial Guide The Color Companion to Walt Disney World

With its excessive amount of greenery in combination with the at times extreme Florida heat…you will feel like you are in Africa. Animal Kingdom is NOT just a zoo…it is a detailed guide to animals and cultures very few of us would ever get to see or experience outside of this theme park. Although it may get a bit of a bum wrap, I find it to be an enjoyable place to visit. It does require some know-how and early arrival to get the most out of it.”

~excerpt from Scrappie’s guide to WDW ;)

Let’s talk about Animal Kingdom….

Lessons we have learned from previous trips…

* Do not arrive late day unless you plan another day for a park opening arrival (or maybe if you go in the “slow” season)

* It is hot…no lie

* Flights of Wonder is very fun & educational treat plus works well for party splitting up for the non-thrill ride seekers

* EE is beyond good the very FIRST time…but worth repeat visits.

* FotLK show (for us) is not to be missed

* Do not enter the Camp Mickey-Minnie Area as a FotLK show is exiting….crowded

* It is tough to squeeze in 2 theatre style shows plus a few rides and lunch in a ¾ day of touring

* The Boneyard can suck up a lot of time…so have a pre-set limit of how long you want to play

* For some reason I always feel a bit rushed here…not very leisure full day…have yet to find the right style of touring for this park

From 2009 trip:

* What we missed from our original touring plan:

* Festival of the Lion King show (we decided to buy into the DVC instead :rolleyes1)

* Pictures w/ the characters in Camp Mickey-Minnie

* Tree of Life closer look

* Parade

* Skipped Nemo (intentionally)

* Looking in the shops

What we’d do again:

* Yak & Yeti QS for lunch again…YUM!

* Not again for 2010:

* Arriving mid day for your only tour day…too crowded

* Train ride to conservation station (not that we don’t all like it…just not necessary two trips in a row)

What’s in the Works for Nov. 2010?

The overall plan for AK this yr is to visit twice during our 10 days…once at (as close to as we can get) RD w/ Matt’s Parents (the GP’s) it the big stuff and then one other day for a more leisurely pace in the afternoon.

The Starting out Must List:

* Safari

* FotLK show

* Tree of Life (looking at it closely)

* Walking trails Gorillas or Tigers…possibly both

* Family picture w/ Safari Mickey

* Parade

* Boneyard for the Kids

The If Time list:

* Other characters

* Live entertainment

* Nemo show

Eating Choices:

QS only: FTBBQ and Restaurantosaurus (did I spell that right?)

Dining plans….we plan to eat here twice both times for lunch

Touring Days:

Day 3) Sun 11-21 morning w/ GP’s

Basic plan…

* Try to arrive as close to RD as we can…8:45-9 am.

* Meander up through the Oasis and into the main park…stop for the customary group shot in front of the ToL.

* Send a runner for FP’s for KS for the GP’s while rest of head to

* FotLK show…if the schedule doesn’t flucate too much 1st show should be 10 am…

* Then back over to KS

* A walking trail

* Early lunch and some shopping

* Finish w/ walking around the ToL

Other plans for the day…head back to BLT for a break, our 6 going to MK for dinner and the EMH night, and GP’s have their special Cali Grill ADR

Day 8) Friday 11-26 mid-day

Basic plan…

* Arriving later in the day, probably starting off w/ some lunch and a romp through the Boneyard

* Then back track over to see Safari Mickey (watching the times of the FotLK shows)

* Fill in w/ another Safari ride or walking trail, possibly the Nemo show

* Stake out a nice seat for the Jammin Jingle (Jungle) Parade which starts at 3:45 pm

* Then head out of the park

Other plans for the day include first heading to MK for a few last minute family repeats and mainly Fairy Meet and Greet if still in Toontown starts at 10 am (AK in afternoon) and then hopefully after dinner in the villa…Bekah and I will hop back to MK for some evening fun…

I have no major concerns on either of these days….

Trying to keep it low key due to our party size (and speed of my inlaws feet) plus figure higher anticipated crowds…the reason for arriving later on the 2nd day we tour is the main goal of this day is the Parade and we’d be worn out by 3:45 if we arrive at RD and I just feel it’s too far to go back and forth from there to BLT to justify a break….

Any thoughts, comments…etc? are always welcome…

Thanks for reading,

Up Next: I should have some more Countdown to Disney celebrations and creative things to share, plus other planning what nots….

Great AK plans!
I find coming up with a touring plan for AK difficult as well. It's so hard to time things with the shows. And I agree, going from AK to BLT for a break and then back to AK is a bit of a pain. Are you renting a car? If you are, a break is much more doable.

thanks Jennifer...I feel pretty good about these two times of touring at AK...no on the rental car...the Disney transportation works well for us and being on the monorail and so close to the TTC and use of direct buses to DHS and AK...it should be pretty easy to get from point A to point B...we loved using the buses from there when we stayed at the Poly.

I think your plans for AK look good - very doable!

I'm anxious to check out the trails next year - I've walked the trail in Africa, once, way back when the park first opened. I've never been on the trail in Asia! Alex might be bored, but Zach will like them - we'll either split up or drag Alex along & hope he enjoys some of it.

Mousecellaneous Planning Update....

* I ordered my inlaws park tickets last Sat before August turned to beat the price increase (they decided on getting the hoppers like all of us)...just waiting for them to arrive in the mail

* I sent home w/ my sister Naomi-Ruth's version of the Disney Logo shirt for her to whip up (you remember my dialema earlier in the trip planning...we found a shirt in storage she will use that w/ the men's tank top and hopefully it will turn out awesome...plus my sister took home Bekah's surprise Tink sweatshirt (which has been under my bed since May of 09) that she will add her initals and line the hood w/ Tink fabric! I will pist pic's once she is done...

* I ordered Bekah's custom Belle inspired sundress for our trip....awaiting for it to be completed and shipped...can't wait hope it fits right

* I have been tweaking my master packing list and adding in things I know we need to pack and adjusting the clothes count (at least shirts) per person...I have most of all the kids Disney shirts for the trip pulled already

* I determined that Bekah's old Belle Costume (from our 08 trip she has just turned 9) will NOT fit Rachel by Nov...it is drapping the floor...I know she won't grow that much. Matt agreed so we will add to the budget (and pre-Christmas list) a new Princess costume for Rachel then...I will try and get something online from the Disneystore right after Halloween wish me early luck :wizard:

* I also went through the DISNEY BOX...and organized things into

Ziplock bags.... but of course....so I have each of the 4 kids travel activities sperated (basically little books, pencils, pens, small toys, etc....obviously the youngest has the most and the twins have just a few things (I have some things to print for them anyways)

I also seperated out misc trip items, Naomi-Ruth's travel items, like cup, bib....and I have a bag started w/ some special trinkets for some hopeful special meet and greets w/ some LGMH toting carmembers :goodvibes

and I seperated out the b-day items for both Rachel and Naomi-Ruth that I already have for them...(those are now hidden in a different box in my closet). I'll post more on that later.

* DH & I also discussed our Pre-Disney Christmas and what we were giving the kids...and realized I would be short on goods for the little girls...so we thought of a few things we'd buy down at Disney right away anyways for the kids and am now asking Amy to be :santa: for me....

* I have been tweaking my touring plans for DHS on our two given days...I'm banking on the given dates posted for the OL it will be on and running each day of our trip....

* I'm also working on my touring day cards (still in pencil)...

* have done much crafting...but will get back to it soon

I think that's most of it for now....

Happy Disney Monday all....:cool1:

yes that is my plan...I have read that on various TR's...do you think it being technically our 3rd thing probably get close to 11:30 would be bad?

Or do you think we should do that, then KS, then try for the 11 am showing of FotLK...my first thought of doing FotLK first was to avoid a huge mass of people waiting...it is just WAY to hard for Nathan...we have used the GAC upon entering ...but really unsure we can do prior to the show :confused3

Hey Julie -

Your AK plan looks good. FotLK is a must for me too! Wish mine could be so easy but DH and DDs would never go without EE or PW (and more than once if at all possible ;)) We only have 1 day so it should be interesting........

You really are on top of it all! Me on the other hand, not so much. :rolleyes1 Guess I'll have to make the most of Sept/Oct for all the stuff. Have to work on things when the kids aren't around anyway so once they're back to school I'll be crusing. Disney hasn't been top on my mind though lately. Got an email from Daniel's teacher, she's taking a sabatical and won't be teaching this year. Sent an email to the principal to check on status of his placement and still waiting for a reply.....:headache:

Enjoy the time with Bekah enjoying the Disney clothing. Mairead (13) has informed me she doesn't think she'll wear any of "that" stuff anymore. :sad1:

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Enjoy the time with Bekah enjoying the Disney clothing. Mairead (13) has informed me she doesn't think she'll wear any of "that" stuff anymore. :sad1:

I know it's coming....

Hope you're feeling better soon!

trying...but not yet...Bekah has her 6th grade physical this afternoon so I hope maybe the doctor can givve me something while we are there...

My daughter Rachel and I were enjoying your Toy Story day. She wanted to know where Lotso was ... and we laughed when you said he got the burnt cupcakes.

The video only had about 5 seconds for me...perhaps you are still editing?

I hope you're feeling better!

If there's anything else you'd like me to find about about BLT while I'm there, just let me know. I'm mailing some maps and times guides to Heidi and would be happy to pick up some for you We were originally going to be there for 7 nights and 2 nights at BWV. Instead, we're doing the entire stay at BLT in a 1 br LV. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a 1 br LV for the last night, so we're switching to a MK view studio.

Scrappie’s Get to Know your Inner DIS….Quiz II

Some of you may remember this fun ditty from a previous PTR of mine…we’ll it’s time to play that game again…. :cool1:

No right or wrong answers here…just have some FUN!

1) What is your Dis name and why did you pick it?
Disney<333! When I joined, I had my teenager with me and she told me that would be a "cute" username. I thought it was just to sign in.

2) How many times have you been to WDW (and other Disney vacations spots if applicable)?
12 years in Orlando and 11 WDW vacations.

3) What onsite or offsite properties have you stayed at? Do you have a favorite?
Dolphin, Swan, BC, BW, WL, CR, CSR, POFQ, Double Tree, and Hilton. I love all except the DT and Hilton.

4) What one resort would you love to stay at?
Poly or GF!

5) What now gone ride/attraction/show do you wish they’d bring back?
Stars and Motor Cars Parade. The show where TSM is now.

6) What is your Dis-style? i.e. just like the Trip report boards, dining, crafting, etc…how often do you Dis and where…
PTR/TRs!
A few minutes where ever I have some down time.
7) (idea from another thread) What would you have never done if it wasn’t for the Dis?
A lot! The way Disney trips were before the DIS?! Yikes!
I have to say the DIS has gotten me very into photography.

8) Name your favorite snack, insider trick, resting spot, special piece of MAGIC ( i.e. Singing in the Rain Umbrella type thing), and picture spot at WDW.
I do like those Mickey bars! Hmm.. do I really have to give it away! I have a bunch!
Shark's mouth, park symbols, with characters, etc.

9) Tell about your most treasured memory at WDW to date.
DD cracking her toe open was interesting.. not my favorite, though. One time when we lived in Orlando we were with MIL waiting for a Cape May ADR Emily was 3 at the time. My MIL was in the gift shop with her and DH and I were a few feet away. Emily comes running out with this giant Minnie doll to show us! For some reason the alarm did not go off. MIL said she could keep it!:scared1: I told her to out it back. Again, not my favorite. I really LOVED our July 2005 trip. The night before Thanksgiving last year MK was EMPTY! We had the entire park to ourselves and it was really magical. Then once the park closed there was a surprise Spectro!

10) Do you TGM or touring-plan and/or what other Disney sites do you live by?
I don't have either. I do check the Disney parks blog and sometimes WDWMAGIC.com

11) What one character best describes you (doesn’t have to be your favorite)?
Maybe Mickey?
12) Do you have a favorite Dis-ism?
?

13) If you could only spend 1 hour somewhere in the World, where and what would you do?
IASW and Haunted Mansion! Funny that you mention that because the other night I had the strangest dream. We had just finished dinner somewhere nd we saw fireworks going off. I had no idea we were in WDW! Apparently, we were right by some MK back gate and Donald saw us and took us in and told us to pick two things since the park had closed! We chose HM and IASW!

14) If someone looked in your Touring Bag, what would they find?
My family's crap that they never use in the park. :rotfl::rolleyes1

15) Beyond the Dis….what do you do in the real world?
Drive kids around to their activities and teach Art!

16) What trips do you have planned or are dreaming of?
November, March, August, November in WDW!

17) What one thing do you always do when you’re at WDW (besides rides)?
Hmm.. we always do at least one ADR and we can not leave WDW until the monorail has been ridden.

18) Are you looking forward to the new FL expansion and if yes…what specifically?
I'm patiently awaiting to hear the changes.

19) Is there a ride or food, etc that you have never gone on or tried?
I've never been to Goofy's!:scared1:

20) Do you have any special family traditions at WDW?
Watch Wishes from a special spot, taking each girl around by themselves for a while, Disney is a tradition with in it's self.

Thanks for playing…I’ll post my answers later….

J~

My answers in red!

DisMomAmy

1) What is your Dis name and why did you pick it?
DisMomAmy – Because I’m a DisMom, named Amy. :thumbsup2

2) How many times have you been to WDW (and other Disney vacations spots if applicable)?
10 times!! 3 times as a kid, once with DH before kids, once when DS9 was a baby & 4 family trips in 2006, 2007, 2009 & 2010. Also a trip with my mom in 2008.

3) What onsite or offsite properties have you stayed at? Do you have a favorite?
I’ve camped & stayed at a value, moderate & have an upcoming deluxe trip! Onsite at Fort Wilderness Campground as a kid, another unknown onsite resort with my friend’s family in high school, Pop with my mom in 2008, CBR with my family in 2007. Staying at BWI with my friend next month.
Off-site – Favorite – Sheraton Vistana Resort, close second – Marriott Grande Vista. Stayed at a few other so-so off-site places.

4) What one resort would you love to stay at?
Beach Club or Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah View – I think the boys would love both!

5) What now gone ride/attraction/show do you wish they’d bring back?
Hmmm… I can’t think of any good ones right now… I remember 20,000 leagues under the sea, but I remember that it freaked me out too!

6) What is your Dis-style? i.e. just like the Trip report boards, dining, crafting, etc…how often do you Dis and where…
I mostly hang out on the PTR/TR boards, but pop onto the Disabilities board from time to time. I’ve also been checking out the resorts boards for my upcoming fall trip & the dining boards waiting for info on the opening of Via Napoli.

7) (idea from another thread) What would you have never done if it wasn’t for the Dis?

Lots of things, but the biggest two are that I probably never would have stayed on-site or purchased an AP.

8) Name your favorite snack, insider trick, resting spot, special piece of MAGIC ( i.e. Singing in the Rain Umbrella type thing), and picture spot at WDW.
Not sure I have a favorite snack… Disney popcorn is a must at least once or twice during each trip. Alex loves the Itzakadoozi (sp?) popsicles.
For us, the GAC is a little piece of magic! We wouldn’t come back year after year if we couldn’t have the normal family vacation that it helps to provide.

9) Tell about your most treasured memory at WDW to date.
I seem to have a picture of the boys walking hand-in-hand from every trip.

10) Do you TGM or touring-plan and/or what other Disney sites do you live by?
Tour Guide Mike baby!! Actually I subscribe to both, but follow TGM more.

11) What one character best describes you (doesn’t have to be your favorite)?
Hmmm… I look a little like Snow White.

12) Do you have a favorite Dis-ism?

Anything with initials! :rotfl:

13) If you could only spend 1 hour somewhere in the World, where and what would you do?

That’s a tough one… too hard!

14) If someone looked in your Touring Bag, what would they find?
With or without kids? With kids… everything but the kitchen sink!
Without kids… iPhone, sunglasses, blistex, altoids, band-aids, small zip wallet, sunscreen, maybe a poncho?

15) Beyond the Dis….what do you do in the real world?

Part-time bookkeeping, lots of volunteering (lots of PTO stuff, class parent for at least one of the boys’ classes, board member of our local Early Intervention services agency), taxi service for the boys.

16) What trips do you have planned or are dreaming of?

Three in the works – 9/30 3 nights with Laura, 2/24 10 nights for our next Family Trip and a mystery trip to be revealed soon! :rolleyes1
Dreaming of two trips in 2012 – family trip & trip with you!

17) What one thing do you always do when you’re at WDW (besides rides)?
I’m not sure we have an always outside of rides…

18) Are you looking forward to the new FL expansion and if yes…what specifically?
Not particularly… it sounds very princess heavy which won’t appeal to my boys. Though I’ve recently heard they are trying to change that princess heavy image… we’ll see. I’ll definitely check it out.

19) Is there a ride or food, etc that you have never gone on or tried?
Food? Lots… Dole Whip! Epcot slushie! Mickey ice cream bar!
Ride? TTA! WDW RR! Figment… at least it’s been so long that I don’t think he was part of the ride when I last rode it. Plan to knock all three of these off my list within the next year!

20) Do you have any special family traditions at WDW?
Sadly, I don’t think we do…

My answers in red!

I too wish the Stars Motor car parade would come back...I never did get to see that...and I love trying to do something special w/ my oldest daughter each time we go...I hope to do something w/ just Rachel this trip too and so-on as my 3 girls get older...Nathan being my only son...he seems to get a lot special daily moments...so I too cherish those Disney days...and I agree no WDW trip is complete w/out at least one monorail ride...

Your Thanksgiving story sounds great...maybe something cool like that will happen again this year :goodvibes

and love your HM, IASW w/ Doanld dream :rotfl:

4) What one resort would you love to stay at?
Beach Club or Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah View – I think the boys would love both!

those sound great! I want do do AKL one day too

5) What now gone ride/attraction/show do you wish they’d bring back?
Hmmm… I can’t think of any good ones right now… I remember 20,000 leagues under the sea, but I remember that it freaked me out too!

I remember going on that too as a kid! I think I liked it but I know I didn't like the movie...

8) Name your favorite snack, insider trick, resting spot, special piece of MAGIC ( i.e. Singing in the Rain Umbrella type thing), and picture spot at WDW.

For us, the GAC is a little piece of magic! We wouldn’t come back year after year if we couldn’t have the normal family vacation that it helps to provide.

I agree completely we never could do Disney w/ our kids' needs w/out that....

9) Tell about your most treasured memory at WDW to date.
I seem to have a picture of the boys walking hand-in-hand from every trip.

I love those :goodvibes we have some really cute pic's like that too

10) Do you TGM or touring-plan and/or what other Disney sites do you live by?

:rotfl: you crack me up

12) Do you have a favorite Dis-ism?

How did I know you'd say that...

oohh...secrets huh...and yes can't wait for 2012 girls only :woohoo:

18) Are you looking forward to the new FL expansion and if yes…what specifically?
Not particularly… it sounds very princess heavy which won’t appeal to my boys. Though I’ve recently heard they are trying to change that princess heavy image… we’ll see. I’ll definitely check it out.

Yes right now it sure seems one sided...I am excited...but Nathan at going on 13/14 will be bored or oh look at those pretty princesses

I'll get a slushie w/ ya!

thanks for playing guys...can't wait for more answers....popcorn::

Mickey Bars! Looking forward to eating a Dole Whip!

9) Tell about your most treasured memory at WDW to date.

I've got two but I'll only give you one! LOL

Right before our trip in June 2008, Disney added a morning EMH to our AK day. I wasn't planning on doing any EMHs but this was our only day for AK so we went. I'm so glad we did! We were able to find an open spot right up on the rope in the corner. The girls had on matching tank tops and for some reason I was just so excited about this park. Two CMs were standing there, male and female, and the female CM came up and started talking to us. (I also had my 1st Visit Button on the strap of our backpack.) We were telling her how much we were enjoying our first trip and she talked to the girls some. She asked us where we were heading for the morning and I told her we were going to the safari. We chit chatted some more then she asked the girls if they would like to help her with something. They both said "Sure". The CM said "Do you think you could help me open the park?" Can you say HE$$ YEAH!!!  (I didn't say that but I was sure thinking it!!) So, she had us join her on the other side of the rope and we stood there and waited for the opening show to end. I was just so excited I could stand myself!! LOL As the safari truck pulled away the CMs and our family started walking behind it. Hannah and Alison were walking in between the two CMs helping them hold the rope. When we got to the safari the CM took us through the FP line and we had our very own safari vehicle. It was awesome! I got one of my favorite pictures of our trip from that experience: a picture of the girls walking with the CMs holding the rope. Indulge my sharing?

They look so tiny in this picture! LOL

My avatar is the picture we got after our safari.

10) Do you TGM or touring-plan and/or what other Disney sites do you live by?

I've never used anything but TGM. I have read the UG and am subscribed to TouringPlans. I just prefer TGM.

11) What one character best describes you (doesn’t have to be your favorite)?

Hmmm...have to think about this one!

12) Do you have a favorite Dis-ism?

No

13) If you could only spend 1 hour somewhere in the World, where and what would you do?

Animal Kingdom! I'd just soak up the atmosphere. Love this park!

14) If someone looked in your Touring Bag, what would they find?

Ponchos, bandaids, moleskin, ibuprofen, snacks, autograph cards, sharpies, cell phone, little bit of money, park tickets, FPs, itinerary and heaven only knows what else!

15) Beyond the Dis….what do you do in the real world?

Paralegal

16) What trips do you have planned or are dreaming of?

Thanksgiving 2010 and hope to do an all girls trip for Hannah's 10th birthday June 2012.

Not yet!

wow Jennifer down to a week....and hey MK studio view not bad...

definetly take pictures of your views! Amy (DisMom) is going to get me the maps, etc as she is going to pick up a few things for me too...so she'll mail all at once.

I should look over that orginal PM I sent you to see if I have any other Q's...get back to you.

did I ask to see if there was a community hall handout or a posting you can take a picture of for the things they have?

thanks

J~

I will look into community hall info for you.
Just let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to investigate!

Hey, Jennifer! I just saw you are down to 7 days -- woo hoo!!! You will absolutely love BLT...the only complaint I've heard is the sink set-up in the studios, but that's a minor point when you are ON VACATION @ DISNEY!!!!

Have a blast!:cool1:

Thanks!

I visited the BLT model rooms at the Doorway to Dreams store and also thought the sink set up in the studios was weird. I think they should have just left the vanity/sink area in the bathroom, not across from the kitchenette. But it's for one night and it's DISNEY!!

Hey to the few of you who will be traveling soon...

can anyone check for me what the ingredients are in the Nestle Frozen Lemonade cup?:confused3

not the slushie but the kind you can get say at FTBBQ?

I know it's gluten free, but wondering about diary (milk)

don't feel like you have to go out of your way...but if you order one or want to ask...I'd be thankful...

I'm working on a food picture chart for Naomi-Ruth so she can see what kind of foods she can eat...

TIA

J~

If anyone in our group of 9 :scared1: orders one, I'll take a look at the label.

Hedy

1) What is your Dis name and why did you pick it? Hedy-I used it elsewhere on the 'net. It's an illusion to a character in How to Succeed in Business without Even Trying, and an old movie star. My name is Heather, so it kind of came about organically.

2) How many times have you been to WDW (and other Disney vacations spots if applicable)? WDW seven times, Disneyland once.

3) What onsite or offsite properties have you stayed at? Do you have a favorite? I've stayed at Dixie Landings/POR, POFQ, the Dolphin, and Pop. POFQ is my favorite.

4) What one resort would you love to stay at?
Contemporary!

5) What now gone ride/attraction/show do you wish they’d bring back? Original Journey into Imagination

6) What is your Dis-style? i.e. just like the Trip report boards, dining, crafting, etc…how often do you Dis and where… Mainly the p/tr boards. I also pop in on the dining boards sometimes to answer vegetarian questions, the universal orlando board, and the transportation board (and the community board). I DIS from home and work.

7) (idea from another thread) What would you have never done if it wasn’t for the Dis? Stay at the Dolphin, start my blog, try Universal Orlando again.

8) Name your favorite snack, insider trick, resting spot, special piece of MAGIC ( i.e. Singing in the Rain Umbrella type thing), and picture spot at WDW. Snack: grand marnier slush insider trick: rainforest cafe animal kingdom entrance magic: cinderella's fountain

9) Tell about your most treasured memory at WDW to date. I'd say being there in '08 with my nephews, brothers and dsils.

10) Do you TGM or touring-plan and/or what other Disney sites do you live by? I tried RideMax and it wasn't for me. I plan on trying Tourig Plans in 2011 mainly to access the lines app. I use Twitter/my blog for a lot of planning.

11) What one character best describes you (doesn’t have to be your favorite)? Ariel: red hair, youngest, doesn't listen ;)

12) Do you have a favorite Dis-ism? Any sentence spoken in acronyms

13) If you could only spend 1 hour somewhere in the World, where and what would you do? I'd go on Splash Mountain and Pirates.

14) If someone looked in your Touring Bag, what would they find? monistant anti chafing gel, a koozie (to keep water bottles from sweating all over my bag), a waterproof case to put my camera/phone in, camera, droid eris, pins, an m&m's tube for pressed pennies, pens, pressed penny book, autograph book or Vinylmation, lip balm, lip stick, blotting papers, thingy of excedrin, anti-bacterial wipes/gel and my wallet.

15) Beyond the Dis….what do you do in the real world? I work in the mental health field.

16) What trips do you have planned or are dreaming of? I'm planning my December DisUnplugged cruise! Also, I'm planning on going with my family next year-my dsil just needs to book it, LOL.

17) What one thing do you always do when you’re at WDW (besides rides)? Do a character meal

18) Are you looking forward to the new FL expansion and if yes…what specifically? Yes. I cannot wait for the Be Our Guest restaurant. They could charge 687 table service credits and I'd still be in line.

19) Is there a ride or food, etc that you have never gone on or tried? I've never ridden Mission Space, or Stitch's Great Escape.

20) Do you have any special family traditions at WDW? Not really. When my dad was alive he'd start doing bunny ears in pictures, and he and I would have pillow fights. It's not a "family tradition," but I always bring Sunshine the stuffed cat, who is 20 years old and has been to WDW as much as I have.

Scrappie’s Get to Know your Inner DIS….Quiz II

1) What is your Dis name and why did you pick it?

MouseScrapper because I LOVE to scrapbook and the Mouse...well he is the man....though I wish I had added a space or capped my S in scrapper...because last yr someone noticed my LGMH in the park and asked what does mouse crapper mean.... oh man I almost died of embarsement...glad Heidi and Kathy nicknamed me Scrappie too

2) How many times have you been to WDW (and other Disney vacations spots if applicable)?

7 times to WDW and once to DL as a pre-teen. One of those 7 trips was a child in the 80's and the rest have been w/ Matt, 3 before kids and 3 after.

3) What onsite or offsite properties have you stayed at? Do you have a favorite?

only off-site was in the 80's at maybe a Days Inn?? onsite: CBR (twice), As Sports, POR, Poly, CSR My favorite of those would have to be POR...loved the bathroom and little trundle for Rachel (then 2 1/2) and the boat rides to DTD...but POLY was just unblelievable...got to love deluxe

4) What one resort would you love to stay at?

more DVC...now that I'm a member...can't wait for 1st stay at BLT in Nov. Want to stay at BWV next yr

5) What now gone ride/attraction/show do you wish they’d bring back?

DH hands down would say Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...I personally miss the Tidal ave...oh wait that was Great America....;)

6) What is your Dis-style? i.e. just like the Trip report boards, dining, crafting, etc…how often do you Dis and where…

My first post was on the Families Boards...but I mostly sub into PTR/TR's and dibble on the various other ones (dining, resorts, DVC, tips, strategies) as I'm looking for questions or answers...I also visited the Creativity Scrapbooking a bunch and check in on the disABILITIES board when I can

7) (idea from another thread) What would you have never done if it wasn’t for the Dis?

my sweet corny answer is have met soe many awesome and wonderful new friends....really  and pack in ziplock bags, bring a show organizer down for the bathroom, have a trip binder (and take pictures of it )...go to WDW w/out my family...upcoming 1-20-11 and I know more...

8) Name your favorite snack, insider trick, resting spot, special piece of MAGIC ( i.e. Singing in the Rain Umbrella type thing), and picture spot at WDW.

snack-MM rice krispie treat
trick-hmmmcan you believe I don't have an answer off the top of my head
resting spot-DHS inside ABC comm
MAGIC-we love the hidden mickey's and the GAC card...Disney just wouldn't be MAGIC w/out it for us...

9) Tell about your most treasured memory at WDW to date.

wow I have so many...from characters, unexpecteted surprises and more...but one that I have that could never be duplicated would be in 2005, we had hoped the twins could get a chance to ride in the front of the monorail during their b-day trip...we had just a few chances...and one day a nice young adult couple let the twins take their spot and they got special monorail licenses too...I know it's something they will never forget!

10) Do you TGM or touring-plan and/or what other Disney sites do you live by?

I have done both...but currently have a sub to touringplans...I like having that guide to plan out the days...I also look at AllEars and Steve Soares entertainment sites alot for my info in planning trips...plus I love the Disney Food blog :thumbsup2

11) What one character best describes you (doesn’t have to be your favorite)?

Stitch I can be a bit cranky but I'm all about family

12) Do you have a favorite Dis-ism?

I still laugh at this...endoftripitis

Kahty wrote this on one of her reports..and for the life of me didn't know what it meant...I was thinking some weird derm term from her nursing life....

end of trip itis....duh :rotfl2:

13) If you could only spend 1 hour somewhere in the World, where and what would you do?

It would have to be at MK...walk down main street, grab a snack from MSB head over to IASW and then POC finish w/ watching Spectro

14) If someone looked in your Touring Bag, what would they find?

my cell, kleenex, trip notes (for TR writing), a pen, camera, lipstick, gloss and chapstick (yes I'm obsesive), hand gel, asthma inhalor, everyone's KTTW, GAC card, touring plan cards and probably a few other misc things

15) Beyond the Dis….what do you do in the real world?

I am a SAHM, volunteer at our church and children's school's

16) What trips do you have planned or are dreaming of?

the trip in progress now, a 15 yr anniversary trip for DH and I to WDW in Oct. 2011, hopeful family trip to DC in summer of 2012, and next family trip back to WDW sometime in 2013...plus a special trip in Jan 2011

17) What one thing do you always do when you’re at WDW (besides rides)?

shopping...I always buy a new photo frame, kids pin trade and pennie press pkus we always stop for autographs

18) Are you looking forward to the new FL expansion and if yes…what specifically?

Yes I am...new dining, Fairies and really curious about the two Dumbo's

19) Is there a ride or food, etc that you have never gone on or tried?

food Dole Whip and many WS TS places...ride Astro Blaster in MK and MS in Epcot (plus a few others)

20) Do you have any special family traditions at WDW?

pictures...like you had to guess that...I have at least 8 pictures we must always take 1 for each of the kids, 1 of DH and I and one of the kids together...

hope you like those....:cool1:

Oh great thanks Kathy...I have to tell this fun ditty again....

so last March, I made this AWESOME LGMH w/ tink on it (found DISign on the boards) and I printed out my DIS name mousescrapper on it....I laminated it, put a lime green ribbon on and tied in PROUDLY on my backpack...hoping a DISER would see it and say

Now it's the 2nd day, first park-MK of our trip...and we are running a bit behind. There I am standing in line for guest relations w/ my Mom and my DS Nathan so I can get his GAC card for the trip....when a guest behind me taps me on my shoulder and asks:

What is a mouse crapper? :scared1:

ahhhh I could have died right there....after explaining myself and feeling quite goofish....I later discreetly remove the tag...it poor dis-shame

I need to re-do it w/ a nice big HUNKING space in between

Oy, Julie your list makes me tired just looking at it! You put me to shame, lol. I'm almost afraid to make a list because I don't know that I'd get much done. There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day lately. ;) I guess it's a good thing my kids don't know about the trip so I don't have any of the countdown activites to plan.

Hi Scrappie,
I'm a little late at joining, but ready to read the whole PTR. I used to be on the boards as "shebaxric", but after we took our trip to WDW last Thanksgiving, I kept off of the boards for a while and never started my TR after I had my little girl. To make a long story short (I'd PM you if I could, but don't have enough posts yet), I had to re-register because my original account wouldn't let me post at all. So, I'm now under DekkerDisneyDreamer, and I hope you remember me. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the kids and how much they've grown since your last TR. Take care!:goodvibes

80 days to Disney FUN!...

we had our next Family Fun Countdown to Disney two nights ago after dinner and in between homework, cello practice and showers…but we still managed a small hour of Disney Family Fun!

Naomi-Ruth was very excited to take down the Mickey Head this time:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6536.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6537.jpg

It was CARS night…we used Nathan’s extensive collection of CARS cars, mini cars and several Disney cars…DH set up a race track on the dining room table.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6534.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6533.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6532.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6530.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6539.jpg

We raced several times w/ Sally (Rachel) winning once and Flo (Bekah) twice…then Sully the Semi (Naomi-Ruth) was a last minute entry and blew us off the track….

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6542.jpg

We ended the night w/ watching:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6544.jpg

And a few other Disney/PIXAR shorts…

As well last Sat and this past Monday we celebrated my Father’s (the 28th), Grandmother’s (the 31st) and my (the 30th) Birthdays…

First was a family BBQ at our home…here is the Birthday trio:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6487.jpg

And some of the cool gifts I received:

A new mini VB bag from my sister

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6495.jpg

A funky Mickey bag from Matt’s sis

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6496.jpg

And my scrapbooking toy….a Cricut from my parents

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6500.jpg

On Monday after I woke up, Matt left this for me:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6509.jpg
a homemade pop up Wrigley Field, Mickey Baseball tag, and card...

that night I treated my Dad to our 4th annual Father/Daughter CUBS game outing and my Aunt and other sil came w/.

Boy it was empty….

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6511.jpg

But we had a great time…cheers!

My Dad and I

And yeah

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6525.jpg

It was a great night!

And just a few mini non trip Disney odds and ends to share:

First got these fun things at Target for the kids Mickey/Disney themed bathroom:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6447.jpg

And hey look it’s “Tink in Training”

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6506.jpg

Matt made this homemade bean bass toss over the summer all from items around the garage/house...

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6474.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6475.jpg

Plus last night I wasn’t feeling hot and was laying in bed looking at a Disney guidebook, when Naomi-Ruth came to join me and was looking at a different guide book…when she saw a picture of the Mickey/Walt statue…and exclaimed:

“OOOHHHH it’s Mickey’s Daddy!”

Then lter she is looking at a map of the MK and was asking what a few of the pictures were, when I told her the red rocks was BTMRR…she said proudly “I like that too”…then paused and said “but not the Thunder there”

My last little Disney quote from an almost 4 yr old is:

“Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo….I turn you into Poo”

Thanks for reading as always,

Man, the end of summer, Labor Day activities and 1st days of school for my Kindergartner meant no time for Dis!

I think I'm caught up now.

- Love the sock throwing and the Cars party.

- Happy belated Birthday

- the homemade bean bag toss will be fun! I just pulled out an old "Toss Across" game from when I was a kid to play with my Rachel. There was a drawing on the back of the box that I drew back 'in the day' when I was young. Ah, memories!

- lists, lists and lists .... I don't know how you are going to do it all! You make me tired.

- I like the Mickey bag

- yes, that "space" is of ultimate importance in your name! :rotfl2:

MAGIC KINGDOM….Scrappie’s Guide to the Most Magical Place on EARTH!!!

“ Opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom was the first of the four WDW theme parks built. Many of the attractions found here are originals from that park opening…the Magic Kingdom is undoubtedly what most people think of when WDW is mentioned. The Magic Kingdom is divided into seven themed lands…Main Street, replicating small-town American life…Adeventureland, with its exotic jungle theme, and then Frontierland, Disney’s take on the American West, Liberty Square…early United States and Fantaslyland.”

Excerpt from The Unofficial Guide Color Companion to Walt Disney World

“ For me MK opened it’s doors to me in 1985 (although my parents visited w/ my older sister in 1975)…like most WDW guests, the Magic Kingdom is the quintessential idea of what Disney is…Magic, Wonderment, Fantasy and Adventure. Each of the four lands has something new and memorable to share and they flow seamlessly back and forth and around the Castle. The Magic Kingdom can be toured in a mad frenzy of Dumbo and top Mountain thrill, but can also be savored and walked through like your own backyard. There is no other place like it (and as a friend recently counted…Disneyland doesn’t count as a comparison) and I love coming back and spending time here!”

excerpt from Scrappie's Guide ;)

Lessons Learned from our Previous Trips (including 2009):

* Really need 2 + touring days to fit all of favorites, plus repeats

* Like to visit at the beginning, middle and end of each trip

* Fun to travel to MK using the various forms (walking, bus, boat, & monorail)

* A pre-park morning ADR is a great way to start off MK…w/ a nearly empty Main Street

* A new tradition hope to repeat several trips to come…Mother-Daughter night w/ Bekah

* Always take time for the characters here

* The Princess line (and now I bet the Fairies) at Toontown…is always long…but try to catch right at opening around 10 am

* Laugh Factory is fun, but need the right interacting crowd to make it special IMHO…as well the line set up here is just to hard for our crew w/ two separate waits.

* Utilizing some needed side entrances is OK for this park

* Adventureland is nearly empty after the nighttime parade and during Wishes

* Should really take time to check out all the small MAGICAL touches here

* Some of the best snacks, treats and counter service yummies are here

* It’s OK to deviate from the original plan based on unforeseen delays and you can do a repeat day at MK w/ no real Touring Plan in place

From our last Trip in 2009

We missed:

* Meeting the Fairies

* Dumbo

* Train around the park

* Opening show

* Wishes in front of the Castle

* Skipped MPHM

What we’d do again or should try to do:

* Early Morning Breakfast in the Park not necessarily an ADR

* Try to get to TSI ealier in the day

What not to do again for this trip 2010

* Swiss Family Treehouse

* ? tiki birds

* ? Laugh Factory

Fantastic birthday Julie... here's wishing you many more!

Kathy

thanks a bunch Kathy!

Hi Julie! My kids went back to school this week and I am slowly but surely catching up on all the reports I have been neglecting. I'm all caught up with yours now! :thumbsup2

welcome back Missy...can't wait to read the rest of your TR soon too...dying to know how MK was! popcorn::

Love the sock throwing mayhem! So fun! You are very creative and I love that Matt jumps right in! ;)

me too..he is a big kid at heart!

Love the lists as usual! :worship:

thanks :rolleyes1

The Cubs game looks like a lot of fun! We went to see the Orioles on 9/3 and the park was very empty there as well. But still fun! What a cool way to celebrate your birthday with your dad!

Naomi Ruth is a hoot! LOL! :lmao:

we did have a fun time...yes it's been a hard baseball season for lots of fans...and that she is

I'm back on the Dis, too!

Man, the end of summer, Labor Day activities and 1st days of school for my Kindergartner meant no time for Dis!

I think I'm caught up now.

thanks for catching up...how is your Nov planning going?

- Love the sock throwing and the Cars party.

- Happy belated Birthday

- the homemade bean bag toss will be fun! I just pulled out an old "Toss Across" game from when I was a kid to play with my Rachel. There was a drawing on the back of the box that I drew back 'in the day' when I was young. Ah, memories!

Oh I love finding old toys or drawing etc of mine and showing the kids...they giggle

- lists, lists and lists .... I don't know how you are going to do it all! You make me tired.

- I like the Mickey bag

- yes, that "space" is of ultimate importance in your name! :rotfl2:

OMG yes...

OH, and I forgot the most important thing -- You got a Cricut!!!!!!

:banana::cool1::dance3::banana::cool1::dance3:

and a :yay::yay:

You are going to love it!

thank you thank...title for scrapbooking will be the best now!

I have about 15 cartridges now but I find that I use the Mickey Font one the most. I love it for all my titles and of course it makes the Mickey Heads soooo quickly!

wow and yes making Mickey heads is fun..no more "stealing" from Home Depot ;)

I have the Expressions (the larger one) and simply love it. I outgrew the smaller, original one in less than one year! When you go to make all the beautiful princesses and Mickeys/Minnies, etc as "paper dolls", just make them as large as you can. Those small pieces like lips, eyes, etc are a pain to work with when the doll is less than 6".

thank you for the tip...going to test that out slowly...

Great update Scrappie!

thanks Heidi, glad you liked it...still need to finish tweaking the MK plans...but you can see my general idea for EMH night that I'd emailed you about

Love all the past trip pictures!

it is fun to look back :goodvibes

Creating update...I'll get to a post and pictures hopefully end of next week too...

but have Nathan and Naomi-Ruth's autograph books basically done, just need to add some character quotes, starting Bekah's today

ordered from Esty a Mary Poppins shirt for myself and dress for Naomi-Ruth...can't wait to get them :thumbsup2

made Nathan's lanyard card and Matt had a sleeve from wrok to slide it in, we just need to add a clip to the bottom of his Disney lanyard...he loves it.

Nathan's guide book pages our done (for a while now) need to tape in and Matt is going to adjust the tabs for me...

Hoping this week to have Matt start laminating and binding the journals

and you know of course I remembered a few more things/projects I want to get done :rolleyes1

stay tuned...I should be in the groove now...and yes to my 6 ladies...some of our fun things are in the works and even have a special Diser friend helping me w/ something fun popcorn::

In honor of only 60 days to go...:woohoo: we celebrated

[w/ a FINDING NEMO trivia & scavenger HUNT

as with most nights now since school is back in session...the Mouse Scrapper home was busy w/ homework, music lessons/practice, reading, dinner, and showers...but luckily...Nemo didn't have to hide forever...

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6589.jpg

and the hunt began...I hope the kids can remember where to go...

first stop taking down the next Mickey Head...see the chain it's getting shorter!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6590.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6591.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6592.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6593.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6594.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6595.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6597.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6600.jpg

The Hunt took them all over the house...at each stop, a Nemo friend would be waiting w/ a trivia question and then a clue to the next location...it seemed more Dories were found than Nemos but oh well (anyone remeber these Happy Meal toys from the summer of 03?)

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6602.jpg

After the last fish friend was found, we had a quick treat (candy) and off to BED...

our next Countdown fun will be for 50 days...in just a short 8 days...we'll be just over half way through the chain then...WOW!

Please stay tuned....the end of this month I will share my creative works of the projects I finished for the trip...coming down to the wire!

What a cute idea Julie!! We never got to Nemo or Dorie on those Happy Meal toys.

I had a head gear exactly like Bekah's many, many moons ago! I didn't know they even used them still. While I never wore mine to school, remember all the kids that had the neck ones that did? You never see kids with those anymore.

Looking forward to seeing all your projects!

we aquired most of them that summer while on a road trip from the burbs to NC and the beach...we tried to get different ones...don't know why we have a ton of Dories:confused: they actually "live" at my parents' house

she's had just under a yr maybe :confused3 she only needs to wear at hm...suppose to be 15 hrs...which is tough, sometimes I have to wake her up to put it back on before I go to bed...I think I do remember those neck one's too...

Oh geez...right now they are still super stoked about Disney at almost 12...the next family Disney trip will probably be in 2013...so they will going on 14  (a yr off all the Disney for a DC trip)...I hope they will still "like" it...all the fun little things may be not so much for them...and I am sure our touring style will change...sooner or later they may be able to go ride a few things on their own and meet back up w/ the rest of us...but hey I have 50 yrs of Disney DVC traveling to be done...I'm going w/ or w/out them.

time will only tell huh?

I figure those major teen years starting w/ the twins will be low on Disney trips...so I feel blessed we have been able to plan and have these 3 trips (2008, 2009 and now 2010)

Nathan just came by to sharpen his pencil and said

"I will always love Disney even when I'm a teenager because you are my Mommy...oh I mean Mom" :goodvibes

here we are all dolled up:

first thanks for hanging in there w/ me as this PTR has sort of slowed down a bit...w/ just our family countdown celebrations and of course yesterday I just picked up 10 extra times of lunch duty covering for another school thru the end of Oct...it's only 1 hr and 1/4 but man I am surprised how much less I get done in the day w/ eating lunch later etc...

the $$ will be nice (since you don't get paid alot to begin w/) so I will have to stay on top of things but at least Oct will fly by now.

My next posts may not be very elaborate but at least you will be able to see what is going on.... :goodvibes

who has the fairest Esty order of them all? ;)

Why Scrappie's 3 lovely DD's do (and a practically perfect shirt for Mom too)

Quite awhile back I had shared I had hoped to make a few custom dress/shirt orders from the site Esty for our upcoming trip...low I didn't know how dramatic it would be or in the end what an unexpecteted surprise would come...

to spare the privacy and personal circumstances of the one seller I bought from (the Dis-Spectrum ladies know the whole though as I lamented my woes to them via email) I will give you the quick story...

end of July: I ordered a wonderful custom Belle inspired sundress for Bekah. We both were in love w/ the dress. It was a perfect combination of grown-up girl and still had the spirit of the magical young girl I knew Bekah had.

Begining of Sept: no dress...no word from the seller of when the delay would be resolved...I was freaking-out:scared1: I looked all over the Esty sight and online and just nothing compared. I was so distraught I actually felt

2 weeks ago: I felt I had no choice but to flag the seller and file a dispute which turned out to be a bigger ordeal than I had imagined...but some massive DISNEY MAGIC and :pixiedust came into play! The night I filed the dispute...the seller contacted me apologizing a ton and shipped not just the dress I ordered the next day (plus reimbursing me my shipping) but sent an additional surprise dress. :worship:

I was so relieved....I recieved the dresses and they are beautiful, I can not wait for the girls to wear them. Now Bekah knows about her's and tried it on, but the extra surprise dress will be for Rachel, we actually blindfolded her and tried it on over her :rotfl:

These dresses are so wonderful I will share pix that the seller had sent me, but want to wait to reveal how the girls will look it them when we are at Disney....

Bekah's Belle dress:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/Bekahbelledress.jpg

the pink flowers are pins to have on or off (another extra the seller sent me at no charge)

Rachel's surprise Snow White sundress:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/snowwhitedress2.jpg

The white smock shirt was also an added bonus!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/snowwhitedressclose-up.jpg

The other Esty ordered I placed was for two "perfect" items for Naomi-Ruth and I to wear to the 1900 PF breakfast w/ Mary Poppins and Alice and friends. (Rachel will be wearing her parks' Alice costume I bought last yr and we are making Bekah a custom Alice DISign shirt---I'll show a picture of the latter once we do it)

Here is the sweetest dress:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6603.jpg

if it is cool she can wear a t-shirt and leggings too

and here is the shirt for me:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6649.jpg

I love it!

it will be so fun to wear these items on our trip and how great they can transfer over to the everyday afterwards too.

stay tuned...more creative itmes to come popcorn::

How beautiful they all are!! I'm sorry it came to you having to file a dispute, but you know, if you're going to be late on an order, communication is always good! I'm glad she made up for it with the extras she sent.:goodvibes Would you consider ordering from her again?

I need to get on Esty and look around at outfits for my daughter. I looked on there for bedding ideas for Madelyn's room, but in the end I just couldn't afford the prices.:sad1::sad1:

I also think I missed replying on the "Be Our Guest" night. I love that you incorporated B&B!! This is my favorite movie! Naomi-Ruth looks like she was chowing down on that special cake!:goodvibes

Uh oh ... Etsy???

I am forcing my hands not to type it in now ... I think that could be very bad (i.e., expensive) for me.:rotfl:

I haven't been to that site yet ...

Love the dresses! That Belle dress is simply adorable!

Love, love, love all your Etsy buys! :lovestruc They are perfect. ;)

That site is dangerous!! Might have to check it out though before June. Then again my DSis is a fab seamstress and has an industrial embroidery machine so maybe I could convince her to do some stuff for me.

Would you consider ordering from her again?

let me answer this two ways....

no...because these dresses are just so lovely and great quality they should last w/ proper care that hopefully all the girls can wear them eventually

YES I would recommend her once she replenshies her stock. I really feel this was a poor series of events in her life and I just happen to be the buyer at the time. Her work is amazing and when you read all the feedback of previous buyers everyone raves!

I just couldn't afford the prices.:sad1::sad1:

yes some of the stuff out there is pretty pricey, but some people sell some really decent items for a cost that matches.

I also think I missed replying on the "Be Our Guest" night. I love that you incorporated B&B!! This is my favorite movie! Naomi-Ruth looks like she was chowing down on that special cake!:goodvibes

thanks! yes she is lucky girl that her Mom is willing to buy some $8 GF, Dairy/egg free chocolate cake for her

is a practically PERFECT Day! :cool1:

who could ask for better weather in the Chicagoland area in almost mid October than 80's.... On Sunday we celebrated our 40 days to Disney countdown w/ a Mary Poppins Day.

We did some banking:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6695.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6696.jpg

sorted some change from our savings jar for our Pressed Penny tubes (and our State Quarter collection) Grandma was taking the jar to the bank for me so do you want to get on the betting pool?

you'll like these guesses ;)

Nathan thought he was to guess how much I saved beyond the jar for Disney $70.00 (now that would be nice if that was in the jar or if that was how much we needed :rotfl:)

Bekah over guessed as well at $52.00

Naomi-Ruth said $3.00

Rachel $5.25

Matt $14.00

and I said $18.26 :upsidedow

so we'll see who was closer.

we also connected to our inner Bert and did some chalk drawings:

Plus the older kids put on a one man band concert for Matt and I. We were going to fly a kite, but not enough wind. and I guess you could say we extended the day to yesterday after a day off of school for all 4 kids resulted in a Tidy-up song for the basement

Can't believe in just 9 days we'll be at 30 days....:woohoo:

stay tuned for more POSTS!

So let's revisit the loooonnnngggg list of projects I was hoping to complete for this trip:

The finished LIST

2 custom b-day shirts for Rachel and Naomi-Ruth see post # 719 (scroll past the flood stuff) http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=37551401&postcount=719

Trip note journal for myself see post # 719 (scroll past the flood stuff)

BBB, and TS restaurant custom invites see post #719 (scroll past the flood stuff)

TT licensees see post #?? I know they are in here somewhere...

Thanksgiving sign for our door see post #719 (scroll past the flood stuff)

Naomi-Ruth food card

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6653.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6654.jpg

I just googled images of the food items she would be able to eat and on the backside typed up info of the restaurants we can get food for her. She likes her card! I just need Matt to laminate it for me

Naomi-Ruth Disney ABC book

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6644.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6645.jpg

So I found these really cute DISigns by Natalie (I hope) and I copied them over, printed as wallet size on thick paper, then added to pastel cardstock, laminated, cut, hole punched and added the ribbon to hold it together

Nathan food critic sheets

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6642.jpg

I know I mentioned these before, but I don’t think I shared a picture. This is what each sheet says (besides Restaurant name and location

Restaurant Judging Criteria:

Entrée Ordered: _________________________

Liked on a scale of 1 to 5: 1 2 3 4 5 Mickey Heads

Dessert Ordered: ______________________________

Liked on a scale of 1 to 5: 1 2 3 4 5 Mickey Heads

Length of Wait for food: ____________________________

Noise Factor: Jaq & Gus- Quiet Sheriff Woody– Noisy Stitch-Loud

Theme: __________________________________________

I liked or didn’t like BECAUSE: ____________________________________

I made enough for our 10 days of dinning, plus a few extra’s. I found an old WDTC envelope from a previous trip and it hold them perfectly. The plan is to have him feel one out (hopefully at each place we eat) and then after we are home I will help him write out his our Dining Review on the Boards!

Nathan’s Autism tag for his pin lanyard

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6650.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6652.jpg

So I found the Donald design awhile back and asked if Marion could add the Autism awareness ribbon, on the back side is just some quick info about Nathan, where we are staying, and mine and Matt’s cell numbers. Plus a list of reminders for Nathan (quick social story reminders that we have used on previous trips)

Welcome Folder for Matt’s parents

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6564.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6565.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6566.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6568.jpg

This idea came about in a couple ways…first as I was google searching some images, I came across a DIS thread about this one Diser (sorry forgot to write down her name) planning her wedding at the World and how she made Welcome folders for her guests and wedding party. As well, DisMomAmy made a welcome folder of sorts for her recent traveling companion.

I included a master itinerary of the 5 days Matt’s parents will be us, our flight info, resort info for both POP and BLT, CS dining choices of place we may eat, a DDP “punch card” (DISign by ), a sheet full of DIS abbreviations so she knows BLT means Bay Lake Tower, daily itinerary plan sheets that break down the basic plans per day, custom journal pages and I will include maps/times guides (that Amy is sending me) plus a special prize:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6658.jpg

A golden Date night ticket…once I again I found this on the boards and I added the Mickey ears w/ my Cricut. Now they know they are dinning by themselves already but I just thought this was extra cute and I know my in-laws will get a kick out of it. I plan to give them the folder before we leave.

Custom Autograph Books one for each child

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6639.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6641.jpg

Each book is basically the same concept using Natalie’s DISigns and I covered 3 x 5 chipboard books w/ cardstock and inked the edges. I added little sayings or quotes by/for the characters pictured. Each book has a different set of 10 characters.

Birthday Balloon signs for our door

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6712.jpg

These I made quite some time ago, utilizing the Mickey balloon DISign and adding the text on my computer, printed on cardstock, cut and laminated. Then a punched a hole and added the curling ribbon.

Stroller “plate” for Naomi-Ruth

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6713.jpg

(I have our last name listed on her so that is why it’s covered) I found this DISign by Marian and added the text myself on my computer, printed on cardstock, laminated and punched holes and added ribbon to tie on her stroller

I’m _____ today “pins” and AiW “pins

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6646.jpg

The Birthday age DISign is by Marion and I printed these again on cardstock, cut out w/ a circle cutter added cardboard to the back to put firm, using self laminating paper, cut out and just used packing tape to add a safety pin to the back.

The AiW pins are for Matt (Mad Hatter) and Nathan (cards) to wear on their ****s at our 1900 PF breakfast. I just googled the images and the text on my computer and created the same as the birthday ones

Rewards for the kids

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6656.jpg

So this wasn’t on my orginal list, but I found these DISigns on the boards and had saved them. So I just printed them out and added the little Mickey ears w/ my Cricut. I plan to laminate them too to keep them from getting wrecked. One is good for one pin and the other is good for $10 towards a purchase at MouseGear.

I hope this will help keep me from going souvenir crazy and keep better track of what we are buying each child. This is a whole other post…but wanted to include the “project” in this one…

Items in progress:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6710.jpg

Bekah’s AiW shirt

I have the DISign by Marion already and the shirt and transfer paper just need to have Matt make it for me

Guidebooks/Journals for myself and the children

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6655.jpg

Ok that huge stack is the pages (I think I went a bit overboard w/ the pages DISigned by Natalie). I am working on adding names to the covers w/ letters cut from my Cricut, then the cover needs to be laminated and Matt will bind them for me at work.

Nathan’s Autism WDW guidebook

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/BLT%202010/100_6711.jpg

Everything is ready for this project too. I created custom pages using DISigns by Natalie and will add them to a small chipboard book. The pages have tabs so I need Matt to take the book apart and separate the tabs for me cause they are not lined up correctly. Then I can adhere the printed portions in the book.

Holiday Passport Books for girls and a WS Guide for Nathan

I have printed all the pages for these and need to cut them down to size and “bind together” I will probably laminate the covers and most likely just do a ribbon bind.

BLT door sign

It is basically done but I have one last touch to add to it

Birthday Books for the girls….

This is the least prepped project and requires the most time…so I will still do them, but unsure if they will be done in advance of the trip.

DISmeet gifts

(you know who you are) now I can’t show this yet because that would spoil the fun…but it’s in progress of being finished I’ll have 3 goodie bags for 3 great families I can’t wait to meet! ***Please don’t worry it’s nothing to over the top or crazy expensive and I certaintly don’t expect anything in return…just some pictures and hugs

I HAVE to get everything done by the end of this month so that's just under 3weeks...I think I can do it!

one more planning post to come....

Love the dining review cards, might have Mairead do that on our next trip. Also like the certificates for the pins and $10 for Mousegear, that is also a great idea. I think I'm going to 'steal' your reminder card from the back of Nathan's lanyard tag to use for Daniel. He responds so much better to visual aids and it will keep me from going crazy reminding him. ;)

The Practically Perfect Day, totally cute idea and what a beautiful day for it! I'm guessing your change jar had a little over $20, let's say $20.58.

you two are too much...I am blushing...but hey it's a great pick me up! It has been fun creating and making a bunch of new things this trip!

the Disney Practically Perfect day...wasn't what we first envisioned but it worked out quite well...now if I just had the Mary Poppins magic to jump into my drawing

I am very glad nathan likes his lanyard tag. He is very self concious about people knowing, but at Disney he feels like a regular kid and doesn't mind. I think the tag will be a huge help and a tangible symbol to the occasional looker kwim Amy....

happy to email you the images or text for some inspiration too
