Northern Beach Party 2002

Just a few notes to help those comin next weekend.

Plan so far…..

Friday 7pm – Drinks at Fountains Lodge (hopin there’s a telly near by so some of us can see the finale of Big Brother between gossip and booze).

Saturday 10am – Beach party open.

Those who can may like to bring deck chairs/windbreaks (though they are available for hire near by) so we can make a ‘camp circle’.
Quizzes and traditional beach games planned throughout the day.
There are four pubs within a mile of the beach offering usual pub grub and the funfair has fish and chips etc. Bring snacks and drinks for your party as there aren’t any shops nearby.
Beach Party will continue as long as the weather and beer supplies permit.

Sunday 10am – much the same as Saturday !
3pm – ‘Dream Kids’ in the park
Boldon Colliery Brass Band in the amphitheatre.

Some of us plan to have a curry one night. The chosen night will depend on who wants to go and when they’re there.

Shields was chosen for it’s facilities should the weather be naughty. There is a large glass fronted shelter just behind the beach where we will reconvene our camp circle should the wind (or worse) be too bad. In the event of really bad weather we can move the party to the MetroCentre within half an hour and use their indoor funfair and restaurant quarter for our party.

Please E-mail DaveSD your expected arrival/departure times together with a mobile number (if you have one) so we can contact you en-route should we have to move away from the beach before you arrive.

Ta.

Bouncy, we're all lookin forward to meetin you and the rest of the 'tartan clad contingent'. Not sure how you'll fare in the quiz(s) coz we've got some strong contenders comin from all over.

There'll be games too. Was plannin them to keep the littluns amused but V suggested ,while watchin big Brother yesterday, that we might try the drinkin game where you run round the broom 15 times then have to run to the sea and back! Fancy a go anyone ?

Prizes Tartan Tigger? ........ Of course there's prizes!!

However, I have made my quizzes fiendishly difficult this year so that no-one will win and I'll be able to take them all home again!! :D

As for the broom drinking game Dave - hmmmm, will have to give that serious consideration over a bevy or three (however, reckon I'll be able to 'clean sweep' that one too!!)

See you all soon!

I suggest that we play hide and seek. We hide the children and then we seek out the nearest pub. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

If we bring Swing Ball will the sand be firm enough to hold it up?

LOL Bouncy !

Yep Swing Ball will be fine- the more the merrier as we're bringin one too.

Have been tryin the kids' 'Bop It' (passy parcel/simon says game) but V says it'll get ruined if it falls in the sand :(
I'm sure the fact she's rubbish at it is just coincidence :)

While I'm in thinkin mode, if anyone can bring a table it would help for the kids colourin competition since there's so many this year.

The weather's been awful here since the weekend, which we hoped was a good sign, as we didn't want to use up all the nice weather before the weekend. Sun's back out this mornin so lookin good

And I'm bringing footballs, buckets, spades, balls, tennis raquets, hula hoops (?!) and anything else that I can fit in the car!! (Hope there'll be room for the kids).

What with all the games and the drink I don't think we'll be bored!! - Mind you, will there be room on the beach for anyone else apart from us lot?!! :)

We're hitting the road tomorrow at 10am, so see you all soon!!

I just come back from the ELC with a kids croquet set - looks quite good, and I can bring a table if you like - it;s quite high (desk height) but we could always bury the legs in the sand a bit if necessary.

I've been checking weather.co.uk and it should be ok for the weekend - it says cloudy but not rainy, so fingers crossed!

Do you need anything else? I could print off some coloring pages, or quizzes, or get some prizes etc

Just let me know

Bev

I'll leave the colourin competition to you, if that's alright then Bev. Ta.

Tables to give the kids summat to rest on to draw etc would be great - as long as folk can squeeze them in.

Prizes? The kids will never say no, so the more little prizes the better, but don't put yerselves out, anyone.

Gettin excited now- even if the weather's naff.

(Vote Jonny or Alex, but NOT Jade!)

I'll be thing of you Dave when BB finale is on.... I don't want Alex to win but don't care about the others.
