Girls...I need big hugs...DH got laid off today. It was 100% not expected, we are still sort of in shock. The good news is we are basically done buying Christmas presents. Grrr...I think I am going to bed.

 Stay strong. This year has been hard on a lot of people. It seems more than usual. I always try to remember that God has a reason for everything.

I am so sorry.
I have no words of wisdom. When my DH's company went belly up, they were expecting it. Not that it made it any easier to find a job when over 100 people who all specialize in software development are job hunting at the same time in the same area. It took him a year to find a new job. And that was 7 years ago. Part-time evening jobs could be had then and that is what kept us a float.
Best of luck in your DH's job search.:hug::hug:

Thanks Everyone! I know that God is just leading us in a different direction, but it is stressful because of the time of the year. I just have to trust that He is in control and all will be reveled soon. :grouphug:...and thanks for listening!

While I'm sure it's not a great consolation, everything happens for a reason! I'm sure a new wonderful opportunity will come along!

I think this is God nudging me to spread my wings a little. I am a teacher, but I have been at home/doing daycare since DS was born. I just called and got info regarding teaching at the local community college. (Which I would love and would not take up all of my time the way teaching middle school does.) Cross your fingers and your toes for me!

Hugs - and good wishes! Like the holidays aren't stressful enough, without this doozy hitting your family - sheesh! Hope a good night's sleep helped and that everything improves swiftly...

My mom does that! She is an adjunct professor, so she only teaches one night class (two days per week) and works her normal job during the day.
I hope everything works out for you! Good luck!

I am so sorry. There is never a good time to be laid off but certainly just before the holidays adds to the stress.
I am a firm believer of things happening for a reason. It may suck sludge water at the time, but hold on to the hope that good will come from this. Hopefully it just won't take long.

:hug:There's never a good time but just before Christmas could be the worst:sad1:
On the bright side, no need to worry about taking time off over Christmas to be with the kids:thumbsup2 And the job market often picks up in January as poeple go back to work and think "I can't stand another year of this". Someone has made the choice for you, so hopefully Someone also has the solution lined up and ready:goodvibes
