I was looking over the sticky posted here, but I am still a bit confused. The sticky says thi:

Each Counter Service (or Quick Service) Credit includes one of the following:

Breakfast: Juice, Entrée, Non-alcoholic beverage
OR one Combo Meal, Non-alcoholic beverage

Lunch: Entrée, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage
OR one Combo Meal, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage

Dinner: Entrée, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage
OR one Combo Meal, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage

So, am I understanding this right? This is saying that for ONE credit TOTAL, I would get breakfast, lunch, and dinner? We are going for 12 days but have a 10 day park hopper, so I would have 12 credits? So essentially, for every day that we are there, we could get breakfast, lunch, and dinner? OR is it breakfast, lunch, and dinner are ONE CREDIT EACH? I'm sorry..I am a WDW vet of at least 8 visits, but I have never stayed onsite before nor have I had the DDP, so this is all new to me!

Also, would the buffet at the resort be considered a QUICK service location where I could use the DDP, or is it considered something else? Also, if there is someplace I can find a list of what is considered counter service for my DDP, that would be cool too!

Thanks so much in advance! Just want to make sure I get the most out of our upcoming trip (honeymoon)!

Each person on your reservation will get 2 QS credits a day. 1 CS credit is for ONE meal. So basically you each get 2 meals a day. You can use these in any order.

Each meal (which is 1 CS credit) gives you the entree/combo meal, drink and dessert (except breakfast = 2 drinks no dessert).

You can choose how to use these and can use them in any order. So for example, you could choose to buy breakfast and dinner or lunch and dinner but you get TWO CS meals a day and each meal purchased uses ONE credit. You also have TWO snack credits each per day.

You do not have to use your credits in any order or particular way. If you each eat three meals on the first day, one one the next - or four on one day and starve for 2 days :rotfl2: .... Your credits are pooled into a kind of "bank" on your card. You can use them as you wish from check in until midnight on your checkout day (at which point unused credits expire). Remember you still have 2 snack credits per person per day and snacks at Disney can make up a light meal for your party. It is highly unlikely that you will be short of food. You will probably know this since you have been plenty times, but WDW portions are pretty generous.

There are no buffet CS restaurants although there are several which offer a better variety of meals. If you do want a TS meal, you need to pay for it OOP. There is no way to trade/upgrade CS credits for TS - they are completely different types of credit. I love the new QSDP, but still make a few ADRs for some nice sit down restauarants and pay OOP for those.

Oh congratulations :cheer2: - I just read the last bit of your post!

Thanks for your reply! I think I am getting the hang of it now! So a CS location would be something like Casey's at Magic Kingdom or Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom or maybe a turkey leg stand? I'm guessing that the ice cream bars, dole whips, soda/ water, snack bags, popcorn, churros, pretzels, etc are snack items (some of them obviously are, but I wasn't sure about the ice cream and dole whips and stuff)? So, in one day, we could have pizza with a drink and an ice cream with one credit and for dinner have a hot dog and a bag of chips and a drink for one credit. Right? That would be a basic usage?

Again, I apologize for my ignorance in the issue, but as a first timer I tend to have a hard time wrapping my head around things like this with so many restrictions!!!

By the way, thanks for the congrats!!!!

EDIT: I realized I got it wrong. For each meal, we would get one snack option, so we would have the entree (hot dog or pizza) and ONE snack (drink or bag of chips, not both) for ONE credit each.

First, don't be afriad to ask a CM questions! I was pretty sure I had everything down pat when I went, but I still asked so I was sure!!

Second, my understanding of something is usually increased when I have an example, so hopefully this will help. Say you're at the Animal Kingdom for lunch and decide to stop at Yak & Yeti local foods (it's the Counter Service location, not the site down restaurant next door!) Here's their menu:
http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu213/onelilspark/Disney%20Trip%20February%2009/DisneyTrip09_109.jpg

So here's how a QS credit would work. You're entitled to an entree, drink, and dessert for a credit. For the entree, you can pick anything under that category, you decide the shrimp lo mein sounds good, so you order that for your entree. For a drink, you can get juice, milk, soda, water...it's not anything under the category (can't be alcoholic) but the basics are ok...you get a diet coke. (Tip: bottled water is considered a beverage on the plan, I like to get a FREE cup of ice water with my meal and take the bottled water for walking around the park!) And for dessert you can pick anything listed under that category. Since we're doing an example, we'll say you don't really want dessert now and want to take it with you for later, you opt for the chocolate chip cookie.

If you decide that you would like a side, you'll notice in the picture of the menu that there is a small purple icon next to the price. That indicates that the particular item you're looking at counts as a snack item on the DP. Anytime you see that icon, you can use a snack credit (sometimes it's not listed and you'll have to ask, but if you see the icon, it's a snack.) So if you add an order of egg rolls to your order, you'll be using a snack entitlement. The total "cost" of your order thus far will be 1 CS credit and 1 Snack.

I hope that helps! As for snacks, dole whips, popcorn, ice cream sandwiches...they all count!

Wow, thanks for taking the time to post that response, onelilspark (and all others as well). That, along with 2Tiggies response are beginning to make sense to me. I think I understand it now! Thank you both so much!

P.S. I see you are from Rochester, onelilspark! I'm from Buffalo and my brother lived in Rochester for about a year and a half!

The example shown by the PP above is great. I just wanted to add that we have done both the "regular" DDP and the QS DDP. Both times we had way more food than we could eat at each meal, and we left with numerous snack credits left. I think on our last trip we had 13 snack credits left over, and that was AFTER buying botles of water and snacks for the plane ride home.

Also, a tip: we have 2 adults, 2 kids. OUr kids eat breakfast, but my DH and I usually do not. Do, we used one of our snacks each day to get a latte in the parks (can NOT drink the Nasty-Cafe). For the kids, on a few mornings we got them a QS breakfast to share. They are 5 and 7 and it was enough for them. Then, we usually used one of their snack credits to get a muffin when we got to the parks, which they also shared. Then, they shared a QS lunch (one credit) and we also got a snack, such as the egg roll. In this way we really made the most of our credits while getting the kids all three meals. The only thing we ever opened our wallets for food-wide were alcoholic bevvies and one character breakfast.

All in all, I love both DDPs... It all depends on how much you want to to be tied down to a table meal each night. Sometimes we love it, sometimes we don't because it really dictataes your entire evening. I hope one day Disney comes out with a hybrid - QS half the nights and TS the other half, or something like that.

Have a great trip!

Also, depending where you eat your last meal of the day, you could consider getting a pastry/fruit bowl for dessert - even if you dont want it - and saving it for breakfast or a snack the next morning (something yummy with your latte;)). This does of course depend where you go and if you PLAN to do this, it is a good thing to make sure what is on offer for dessert at the places you want to eat as you do have to order your full meal credit of entree, drink and dessert at the same location at the same time.

Just one comment, your credits go by 'nights' of stay, not 'days'. If you are there for eleven nights/twelve days, then you get 22 CS credits to use over those twelve days, not 24 CS credits.

One more thing I didn't see anyone mention, if you go online to WDW's website, they have a downloadable 2010 Disney Dining Plan (all 3 types). It will list all of the restaurants in parks, resorts, DD, etc that offer QS meals.

Never go without it! :)

... and of course it lists all FS, snacks etc..
