The Boardwalk Inn: Information Station
I hope it's OK to post all this. There seems to be an interest in the Boardwalk, but very little centralized information, so I've tried to compile some stuff and I hope it's helpful.
This is a thread devoted to the BWI, not to be confused to the BWV (the Villas) which is a DVC resort, although they do accept cash reservations and you can also rent points to stay at the BWV from a DVC person.
But here, I'm trying to compile all the information I can on the Inn side of the Boardwalk. There are spots where I ask some questions, and there are plenty of holes to fill in, which I hope to do as we go. Any and all info is greatly appreciated and I will try to update the information below as more becomes available!
There are a few places where I cut and paste info from posts about the BWI for myself as quotes, but I do not have the DIS posters' names, so I have only put these sentences or phrases in quotations. If you see your quote and would like your name added to it, please let me know.
(I've never been to the BWI, so bear with me if something needs correcting. Our first visit to BWI, and second to WDW, is this December.)
General Information:
The Boardwalk Inn is themed as a Turn-of-the Century Atlantic Seaside Resort with its twinkling lights that trim the buildings, turrets, flags, and awnings.
From WDWIG: " The lobby has beautiful furnishings, whimsical carousel rugs, interesting models of roller coasters and carousels, and music that will take you back to the Great Gatsby era. The window seats along the hall of the lobby are inviting conversation areas. The chandeliers and hard wood floors add an air of elegance to this lively, fun at heart resort."
Built in 1996, it is the smallest of the deluxe resorts with less than 400 rooms. The DIS lists the number of rooms at 378, the Unofficial Guide at 375, Birnbaums at 372, so I don't really know the exact count!
There is a porch with rocking chairs on which to relax.
It is on the 3/4 mile loop encircling Crescent Lake, which is also the route to the International Gateway into World Showcase at Epcot.
The phone number is 407-939-5100. The fax number is 407-939-5150.
Character Caravan runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Disney's Boardwalk Resort in the Main Lobby 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. & 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.
Valet parking is $6, including resort guests.
Specific Room View
From vicb: We stayed in room 5269. We had 2 queen beds and the small day bed. It was close to the elevators and had a side view of the BW. Our regular sized balcony (2 chairs and 1 table) faced the rose garden/walkway area between the BWI and BWV. We could see the BW from the boat launch around to the end of the BW by the S/D. I hope that makes sense. It was priced as a BW view. The noise from the boat launch or BW did not bother us. The doors are quite soundproof.
from Desnik: We were in room 3304. We had 2 queen beds a day bed and a full size balcony. This is considered a standard view room. From our balcony looking down we had a view of the Garden Suites and a beautiful courtyard. When we looked straight out we could see a perfect view of the Eifel Tower, and the top of Spaceship Earth with Mickey's hand. We could hear the music from ToD and Illuminations and could also see the fireworks.
from DISNEYDADINOREGON: We were in room 3320 on 7/9-16. We were directly above the garden suites with a veiw of the quiet pool and a view of France and Morraco. Could see Illuminations and hear the music from the parade. I asked at check in for a upgrade and she gave us this 3rd floor pool view. On thge 3rd floor the even numbers are garden/pool and odd numbers are boardwalk.
from froglady: We stayed in room 5274.We had a view of the garden suites...also were able to see SE & Illuminations. (very relaxing to sit on the balcony sipping wine and watching) I speculated (by counting balconies and looking at room numbers while walking down the hall inside)) that any number between 5272 & 5284 would have a similar view. We also had a great chamber maid...lots of "animals" and she played games with my son's stuffed animals. (hiding them on the daybed, in the shower, etc). We had 2 queen & a daybed.
BonnieP: (standard room) We had room #5272 during our stay 8/98 and had a view of the fireworks.
Room Information:
The Boardwalk Inn underwent a interior refurbishment that was completed early in 2002. Worn carpets, linens, etc. have been replaced.
Rooms, according to the Unofficial Guide, are 422 square feet in size, (the DIS lists them as 380 square feet??) with cherry wood furniture, brass beds (either two queens or one king) and a daybed that can accommodate children up to 50 inches tall.
LynetteB reports the normal concierge room is 434 sq ft and the concierge deluxe room (with a sofa bed) is 644 sq ft.
The rooms are decorated in blue and yellow gingham wallpaper, blue postcard printed curtains, and soft greens.
There is a table and chairs, two queens or one king size bed, a daybed, a dresser, and an armoire (housing the television).
TigrLvsPooh reports, "our king room at the BWI did not have a daybed."
There are ceiling fans in the rooms.
There is more closet space in the rooms than in other deluxes. The dresser has six drawers and there are more drawers under the entertainment center/armoire. From Desnik: "In the room, the closet was equipped with a small wall safe and a pack and play as well as extra pillows and blanket."
The vanity area, with two marble sinks, is outside the toilet/tub area with a full-length mirror.
There is free newspaper delivery.
Iron, ironing board, and hair-dryers are in the room.
Coffee pots can be requested from housekeeping (thanks Desnik!)
There are elevators both in the lobby and on the Boardwalk to access the hotel rooms. Some guests have reported that the walk to the far ends of the hotel from the elevators is a bit long, and some have requested rooms closer to the elevators.
Most rooms have balconies, although they vary in size from two-person couple balconies to larger full-size balconies. The larger ones are equipped with table and chairs.
Standard view rooms can overlook the front of the Resort or the inner courtyards and quiet pool areas. Some of these rooms will have Epcot within sight and can see the tops of Illuminations at night.
Water view rooms tend to overlook the Boardwalk itself, and across the lake at the Yacht and Beach Club area.
The Concierge level is on the fourth floor, with both rooms and suites available.
Concierge lounge is "beautiful, big and sunny" (from one DIS poster), Helpful staff. More info on this at the WDWIG link.
Laundry rooms -- reportedly near the elevator on each floor, near the ice and vending machines. From vicb: "The BWI coin laundry is on the third floor and cost me about $8 to do one load of jeans and sweatshirts. There is a TV in the laundry room."
Valet Service Cleaning is also available.
Arcade: Side Show Games -- "I believe the small BWI/BWV arcade was right next to Muscles Health Club, near the Harbor Club" (vicb).
There is also a larger arcade at ESPN Club. From Desnik, "If you exit the lobby using the stairs down to the BW, turn left and the arcade is there and that is also the way to the themed pool area. "
Garden suites are 2-story accommodations with a white picket-fenced enclosure. These sleep four, with a living room on the first floor and a king-size bed in the upper loft as well as a Jacuzzi tub. Lots of info on these suites on the WDWIG link below.
Babysitting/Childcare Services: Disney's Harbor Club for kids ages 4-12 runs from 4 p.m. to midnight. From Desnik, "The harbor club charges $8 per hour. If you exit the lobby on the BW side, take the stairs and at the bottom to your immediate left is where the Harbor Club is located."
JenD posted on another BW thread: "When we went last September, it was $8.00 and hour and that included dinner (you ordered from your child from a menu before you leave-- the usual offerings: chicken strips, pb/j, etc.). DD liked it a lot. It isn't as big as Neverland Club, but there are plenty of activities and actually, it's sort of nice that it is a little more intimate than NC."
(Editor's note: NC is Neverland Club at the Poly)
Refrigerators are available for rental, $10 a day. Pagers are also available for rental -- anyone know the cost??
"There is an ATM in the lobby as well as a mail box(on the wall). " (Desnik)
Getting Around/Finding the Elevators:
"You do not need to take the stairs to get up to the floors from the boardwalk. You just need to know where the elevators are! Both BWI and BWV have elevators that are on the Boardwalk level."
"You don't have to walk around the building to enter when coming back from MGM. You can access any stairway with your room key."
"There is an elevator on the boardwalk level just behind the Flying Fish."
Eating on the Boardwalk
With so many restaurants in the World Showcase only minutes away, as well as those in the nearby hotels, dining choices are plentiful.
Within the hotel on the second floor is the Belle Vue Room, which has old-timey tunes played on antique radios, board games for play, and appetizers and drinks are available.
Leaping Horse Libations: carousel-themed pool bar with drinks, ice-cream, hot-dogs, fruit, salads, and tuna salad sandwiches.
On the Boardwalk proper:
Spoodles: Mediterranean specialties, breakfast buffet, and "Spoodles also hase a "to Go" window where you can order pizza pies or by the slice, calzones and delicious meatball sandwiches, drinks. This window is also open pretty late, I believe 11pm" (Desnik) .
The Flying Fish: The most up-scale menu (and prices), seafood specialty, steaks, and the chocolate lava cake gets rave reviews.
ESPN Club: Burgers, sandwiches, salads and every game available shows on the 80 monitors.
Big River Brewing Company: Pub favorites, 5 homemade brews
"There are tables and chairs outside to eat. If your eating at the BRGBC outside, you can watch the fireworks and it is a very good view" (Desnik).
Boardwalk Bakery: Fresh baked goods for breakfast and snacks -- try the Tiramisu
Seashore Sweets: Candy, ice-cream, salt-water taffy, frozen yogurt
Carts along the Boardwalk offers all kinds of tasty treats such as gyros, hot dogs, crepes on a stick, and popcorn.
Most of the above are open late.
Nightly Entertainment and Lounges
Atlantic Dance Hall: elegant waterfront club and dance hall. Must be 18 to enter, $5 cover
Jellyrolls: Dueling pianos, casual atmosphere, Must be 18 to enter, $5 cover after dark.
Depending on the season, reports of roving acts including: Jugglers. Musicians, Magicians, Flame Throwers/Swallowers, and Cowgirl Rope Tricksters begin their acts in the evening. Kids are often asked to be "assistants".
There is a face painting booth and a place to get your hair wrapped.
The best area to view Illuminations from the Boardwalk is on the bridge over the canal at the end of the Boardwalk (nearest Epcot). These can be viewed from anywhere around Crescent Lake except right near the Boardwalk buildings on the north end (the Inn blocks the view).
The balcony off the lobby offers a distant view of the MK fireworks.
"Fri., Sat. and Sun nights more busy on Boardwalk but the entertainers seemed to end by 10:30-11. Some nights we could hear music from Atlantic Dance Hall but not annoying. The friendship boats toot coming in but again did not bother any of us. The doors to balcony surprisingly sound proof. "

Swimming
Carnival Themed Luna Park is a large pool area, shared by BWI and BWV, and offers the Keister Coaster, a wooden roller coaster looking water slide with a clown face at the opening of the slide. There are squirting elephants that are showers and sprinkle the kiddie pool, plus a small playground nearby.
Quote from a DIS poster: "The slide goes into deep water, and your kids will not be allowed to use it if they can't swim. It's a very long slide that at times goes through darkness. There is a short slide there that goes into shallow water, perfect for younger kids."
"Lifeguards at pool very friendly, remembered kids names each day and organized water balloon toss etc..."
"The Luna Park pool is great for kids... total kid themed! The pool is large enough to not feel overcrowded (like the old Poly pool) but self-contained enough that you can easily keep you eye on your children. Your older child may love the Keister Coaster slide. Both will like the spraying elephants. The tile work is very colorful. There is a kiddie pool and play area off to one side. The lifeguards were very friendly, even learning names of my kids and greeting them by name each day! There were some organized activities like water balloon toss. The poolside bar is kid friendly with its juice boxes, snacks and kid meals."
There are two heated Quiet Pool and Hot Tubs areas.
Refillable Mug Program:
The Boardwalk mugs are red handled with Donald and Daisy Duck and the name of the resort on them -- $9.99
Refillable Mugs can be filled at:
Boardwalk Bakery
Joe's Coffee Cart (free refills include coffee)
Spoodles Pizza window
Seashore Sweets
Leaping Libations
Belle Vue Lounge
Transportation:
Buses run about every 5-10 minutes to AK, MK.
Bus service also to the water parks and Downtown Disney (anyone know the frequency?)
Walk to Epcot -- approx. 5-10 minutes
Walk to MGM -- approx. 10-15 minutes
No bus service to MGM or Epcot -- boats are available if you do not want to walk. These launch every 20 minutes.
The boat makes 4 stops on its way to MGM.
"Avoid going through Epcot to take the monorail to MK unless you are already in Epcot for part of the day. You have to walk all the way from the International Gateway through Future World and out the main entrance. It's a hike . . . . [It's] quicker to take the bus to Mk, then walk through Epcot to the monorail! (unless you are already in Epcot, and want to go to MK)"

I too have been very confused about the room sizes!! We are staying in the concierge deluxe room in August and were unsure how much bigger they were. I contacted the BWI and they faxed me two room plans: the normal concierge room is 434 sq ft and the concierge deluxe room (with a sofa bed) is 644 sq ft. Hope this helps someone else and thanks for starting the thread!

There are no coffee pots in the standard rooms, you have to request it from housekeeping. There is a fee for valet parking for everyone, including resort guests, I think it is $6. Spoodles also hase a "to Go" window where you can order pizza pies or by the slice, calzones and delicious meatball sandwiches, drinks. This window is also open pretty late, I believe 11pm. There are tables and chairs outside to eat. If your eating at the BRGBC outside, you can watch the fireworks and it is a very good view. The arcade is located on the BW. We really enjoyed our stay here this past May and I know I would have loved a thread like this then!! Great job DemonLlama and if I remember anything else I'll post. Hope this helped you.;)

Thank you Desnik!
I"m so glad someone who has actually been there can give us some insight -- not-so-free valet parking, for example!
Thanks for all the details!!
DemonLlama, WOW! That must have taken a lot of effort to put all that info in one post.... nice job.:)
I think I recognized a few of my own observations on BWI.;)
The BWI coin laundry is on the third floor and cost me about $8 to do one load of jeans and sweatshirts. There is a TV in the laundry room.
I believe the small BWI/BWV arcade was right next to Muscles Health Club, near the Harbor Club.
We loved the BWI and plan to return next trip.

If you've stayed at the Boardwalk, would you mind posting your room number, type of room, and view/what you could see?
There seem to be a lot of requests for this information, and I'll try and compile them if we get a good number.
Thank you!
:sunny:
Two things:
1. Can we get this thread permanently moved to the top of the board with the other resort FAQ threads? Then it would be easier for people to find.
2. We stayed in room 5269. Hello!
Any specific room numbers with balconies facing the boardwalk... I know that's considered a waterview.
My DH and I will be staying there the end of August, standard view reserved. We had room #5272 during our stay 8/98 and had a view of the fireworks, but was thinking of the boardwalk side this time.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks for ALL the information! I'm gathering room numbers. I tend to be a compulsive planner, especially now that we are one month away (today as a matter of fact)!
Any room numbers facing the boardwalk?
Hope this thread gets moved to the top with the other resort FAQ...

Leslie,
No, I think if you just call housekeeping and request one, they will run on up to your room, like if you requested extra towels or robes, etc.
Even the resorts which have rooms with the coffee pots already there, there is no charge to use the pot, just the coffee pouches. We bring our own, along with a soft sided cooler (squishes flat in the luggage) to keep milk cold with ice from the machines -- gotta have my milk in my coffee!:smooth:
I do have to share my coffee milk with the kiddos (for their cereal), but this saves us lots of time and money, so I was glad to hear we didn't have to tote our own coffee pot along to the Boardwalk!

The BoardWalk Inn is our family's favorite deluxe resort! Love the theming, love the architecture, love the location! The decor reminds me of my grandmother who passed away in 1996. It brings a smile to my face just being there.
Here are some pictures we took during our trips in August 1999 and June 2001. In '99, we had a standard view room (3209)which was at the far end of the resort, beyond the ESPN Club. We could see Spaceship Earth, Illuminations, and Crescent Lake. The downside was that it was a long way from the lobby and we were over the service entrance to the ESPN Club and often woke to the sounds of trucks making early-morning deliveries and could hear traffic on the highway behind the resort. We also got so see CM's having a smoke on their break below our balcony.
In June of 2001 we booked a water view room and received an upgrade to a concierge deluxe room at check-in:) We got spoiled! The room (3225) was directly over the bakery and had two queen beds and a pull-out sofa. There was also a second armoire with TV and VCR.

We stayed in room 5306 in 4/02 It was a two queen bed room and did not have a day bed. We had a great view of Illuminations. Frankly, with this room, I wouldn't pay more for a BW (water) view. This room was perfect... except we had to leave to go home :(

Are the deluxe rooms only concierge, or can you reserve a deluxe room without paying extra for concierge (like at AKL)?? The room looks like it would hold all 5 of us comfortably, but I don't know about paying extra for concierge.

The deluxe rooms are all concierge. We had booked a water view room at an upsell rate of $209 and were given a complimentary upgrade when we checked in. I wish there were non-concierge deluxe rooms. The extra room was great for us, but rack rate is around $500. I don't know if special rates ever apply.

Just wanted to know if every balcony has got a table and chairs, and how noisy does the boardwalk get at night? I'm a bit worried about requesting a waterview room if it gets noisy at night.

My wife and I stayed in a 4th floor concierge room overlooking the Boardwalk back in August of 2001 (sorry, don't know the room number), but it was directly over a bakery I think.
The room had a balcony w/no chairs, but we just took the chairs out of our room and used them.
About the noise--Our first day there, we went back to the room to catch a nap around 1pm, and I kept hearing what sounded like a fog horn every 10 minutes. This is with the balcony door and blinds shut. Turns out it was just the boat taxis docking at the Boardwalk dock. Took a while to get used to, but then it just becomes part of the special Boardwalk ambience.
From time to time a live band playing old ragtime (or something like that) songs will stroll down the Boardwalk during the day and in the evening, and you will get to sit out on your balcony and enjoy the free show. To me that was one of the biggest treats.
At night, the boats are no longer running so you don't hear the horns, and really, it is generally pretty quiet. The ESPN bar at the end of the Boardwalk plays their trademark music all day, and that would be about the only thing that could get old. Besides the crowd noise, it really wasn't too bad. After about midnight, it is completely dead, and all the shops are closed. But let's be honest--if you are staying in a room with a Boardwalk view, you better be ready for SOME noise. History will show that Boardwalks ARE kinda noisy by nature, and to me that was one of the coolest parts of staying there. You get a constant, carnival-like atmosphere, one that the garden view guests miss out on. But its all in what you like.
Hope that helps.
By the way, I swear on the concierge floor they pipe in some type of sweet, woody smell that is not in the rest of the resort. AWESOME!!

Some info on the pool, and if anyone in the know can confirm the pool stuff in the original thread is really StormAlong, I will be sure to take that out!
From LH@OKW:
Great post on Boardwalk, but I THINK one paragraph under "swimming" belongs to Beach Club, not Boardwalk.
From DISposter, about long slide, partly in the dark, not allowed for nonswimmers, etc; really sounds more like Storm-a-Long Bay at Beach/Yacht Club than Boardwalk.
We were at both pools in June ("pool hopping" is a Disney Vacation Club perk). Beach Club pool slide is like a ship, have to go across boardwalk, away from main pool area, to the ladder. At that end of the ship is separate shallow pool w/ a CM lifeguard. CM asked my DD for a swim test (she had been wearing lifevest from the resort). She passed test, wo/ vest, but not allowed to wear vest down slide. I thought that slide was very fast for a pool slide. Also, a water current at bottom of slide; so you do need to be a strong swimmer. (CM asked that DH or I please be at bottom for DD).
Luna Park pool (Boardwalk) not as long, don't remember if it went through any tunnel. It was great fun, though. Our daughter wore her life vest on this slide, no problem. (CM at top of slide at all times). Vest, by the way, was free of charge from Community Hall, we used at different pools, and Blizzard Beach. Free of charge may be a DVC thing too, not sure. Good photo ops from bridge at Luna Park, and bottom of slide. Bring a waterproof disposable camera. Just don't remember a second short kiddie slide at this pool though.
Wanted to send you a PM, because not 100% sure w/ pool descriptions-- maybe DVC board will have people who have used these pools more than me who can answer. (We are relatively new DVCers)
Have a great great trip (we are going for quick 4 day trip in Nov, first time at BW -- villas, though).
THANK YOU!:)
I think LH@OKW is correct. That sounds like SAB to me too! The Keister Coaster goes under a walkway right at the Clown's mouth but not a dark tunnel. My DS was 6 at the time we were there and was able to go down the slide with no problems (over and over and over...) and he was not a "strong swimmer". There is a guard at the top when the slide is open and one on the edge of the pool in that area keeping an eye on things.
Bumping back to page 1!;)
Does anyone have any idea how late you can rent the Surrey bikes? We saw them on our last vacation and they looked like great fun. Don't know if we'll make it up the hill though :D. But we'll give it a go.

Does anyone know of a site that has a map of BWV that lists room numbers. I've seen them for most of the other resorts.

How late are the pools open? Is there always a lifeguard there? Is the slide always open? TIA
Just read this for the first time...great info! :)
One day of our 7 day visit the slide was closed for cleaning and "waxing". I don't know how often that happens. We were there during a cool week in Feb. The latest we swam was around 7pm but I think the pool was open till 9 or 10.... it was pretty chilly those nights!

I'll be at the BWI for the first time in November w/DD(8) and DM(69). CAN NOT WAIT!
My main concern is a location central to main elevator, bus and boat for Mom. She's going through some mobility problems now. Do any of the standard rooms closest to lobby have EPCOT views?
Course a comp'd upgrade would be terrific. We'll be checking in there after the NJ, soap people and Vet day people leave. I don't think it will be a packed house. Don't know if I have the guts to ask but do any of you know how liberal BW is at upgrading on their own?
Also, has anyone been offered an upsell or manager's special to go concierge here? I've seen that at other resorts. If so, how much? Is BW's concierge service really good? passable?
Thanks for your help....Sharon

We'll be at the Boardwalk 11/12-16 on the 2nd leg of our trip. Our first time there. The first will be Wilderness Lodge 11/9-11, repeat customers.
We've gotten two different pretrip mailers from the Wilderness Lodge. Not a lot of information but nice advertisements going thru the W/L highlights. A nice touch and gets the excitement/anticipation up.
We haven't received anything from the Boardwalk. Do they send out anything in advance of the trip. Would think since they are a higher delux than W/L they would do something.
Thanks!

Mississippian, Have you gotten any kind of mailer from Boardwalk? 'looking for ward to seeing you' sort of thing? 'here's what do to' info???? We've gotten nice stuff from Wilderness lodge and I'm really surprised that BWI does nothing.
We leave in 18 Days!!!! Will be at the BWI 11/12-16. When will you be there?
I wish there was more activity on this board from BWI fans. ARE THERE FANS OUT THERE???

No mailer from Boardwalk, but we only booked our Disney trip about a month ago, and were originally at the AKL. We switched to Boardwalk when I saw it was available on the Disneyworld Internet site, maybe two weeks ago.
To be honest, the Poly was my first choice, because of our young children (2&4). However, my wife and I will enjoy the Boardwalk much more. In fact, wife has already told me she wants to eat every meal at Chefs de France. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we eat there three times, twice downstairs and once upstairs.
The Boardwalk Inn sounds a little less frenzied than most of the other resorts, which suits us just fine.
I remember getting a mailer last year before our trip to the BWI but don't remember if it was a generic Disney one or from the BWI. I'm thinking it was generic.
I agree that the BWI is less frenzied than some of the resorts appear to be, haven't stayed at too many so don't know first hand. I did think the Poly was lovely when we stayed there four years ago but we really fell for the BWI. It was my push to stay there so I've told DH and kids they can pick the resort next year and so far they all seem to want BWI. I thought the lure of SAB at YC would do it but not so far.:)

Hopefully, we'll find out when we get there that the Boardwalk is the best kept secret on site! I wish there was more board activity too. W/L board has a couple of hotel cast members that post regularly lots of activity there.
At least the negative I've read so far about Boardwalk hasn't been much. Most folks love it, love the location, the rooms are recently renovated. There are only two things on the negative side. One is the distance of some rooms to the lobby/elevators. The map does show the layout is sprawling. We're going with my 70yr old mother and I'm pleading for a convenient room for her sake.
The only other negative I've seen (and this seems to be for YC and BC as well) is that the front desk folks can be less than genial to down-right snooty. That certainly hasn't been my experience at all the other Disney Resorts I've been to and hopefully those negative impressions are not the norm!

Josierac, have a great trip! I'll look for your posts next week...
I must post to defend the front desk CMs at the BWI... in my week's stay there last Feb. I only encountered friendly, helpful CMs. One in particular who helped me with a dinner PS and my fantasmic pkg. They were kind to my children when they had a question. Some of the bellhops made balloon animals and hats! There was even a couple who were dressed like genteel folks of the BW old days who gave my DD a Disney beanie baby in the lobby on our first day and told her "this is your first magical moment, you will have many more this week". Also must add our housekeeper was friendly and did many cute things with our stuffed animals and the pool staff was very friendly as well.
I do believe that often you get back what you put out there and we were so thrilled to be at the BW for a week we were probably radiating positivity!;)

vicb, thanks for your post. You're right that you usually get back what you put in!
At other Disney resorts the front desk people I've encounter have all been great. Certainly a better experience than other travels/hotels outside of the world.
Everybody can have their off day so maybe caused isolated problems.
Really appreciate your sharing your family's experience! I've wanted to stay there for the last two years.

We stayed once before at the Boardwalk, on the Villas side but using a AP rate. Got upgraded to a one-bedroom without asking (and in fact didn't realize right away what had happened).
On baby stroller was lost by the airline and we needed to buy another. Did you know there isn't a stroller for sale in all of Disney? Anyway, one of the bellhops offered to give us a ride to the Wal-Mart. Sure, he wanted a tip, but it was a nice offer. We didn't take him up on it, but it was a very nice gesture. All of the other people at Boardwalk seemed very friendly.
BTW, this was back when Disney had the most god-awful strollers you ever saw. These old strollers forced the child to lay flat on his or her back and not be able to see anything. They were so low that the parents had to bend way down to push them, which caused a terrible backache.
We begged for a jogger stroller, but the surly park attendants refused, saying they were only for children weighing [40, 50, 60, pick one] pounds or more. I ended up grabbing an adult wheelchair, which worked just fine.
I've digressed. The Boardwalk desk and other people were very friendly on our last visit. I'm sure they will be fine on our next trip in November. And we're carrying our own stroller.

Yes, we had a standard room booked. Everything was very great.
The Bellvue Room did have continental breakfast in the mornings. Bagels, sweets, etc. The same things from the bakery just not as large of a selection but enough. From 5pm-midnight it was open for cocktails.
No housekeeping surprises though.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was our first trip without the kids and even though they were missed it was nice to just be there. We only went on a few rides the whole weekend. We really just enjoyed the resort and the food and wine festival.

We're back from our trip so thought I'd post our BWI experience on this board.
We had booked standard room. Did fax 4 days ahead. Our most important request was for a room close to the main elevators because of my mother's age (70) and mobility issues. Second to that, requested day bed, full balcony and any magic they could spare.
At check in the CM said that our room had been blocked and the assigner had noted "DO NOT MOVE" in their computer. We were given room 4298 which was perfect for us. About 6 rooms from elevator, day bed, small balcony but still had two chairs and tiny table. Looking out the balcony, we could see the top of the ball, land to one side, eiffel tower to the other. Watched the higher fireworks.
I loved the decor of the rooms and public rooms at BWI. The christmas decorations were up and beautiful! Everyone was very nice.
The only food we got on the boardwalk was pizza from the takeout window. Good and gooey. We did hit Cape May over at the Beach Club for dinner and breakfast once. That was very good.
Went to the themed pool once. Daughter enjoyed a game of marco polo and did the slide a few times. The slide comes down in 4' water. She's an iffy swimmer and did fine.
Just a great trip and loved the Boardwalk. I hope we can return next year.
Thanks for posting your room # and view. Glad to hear you had a good time, the BWI is a lovely resort!:D

Two questions about the rooms at BWI:
1. Do all water view rooms view out to the boardwalk/lake or do any of them face the pool?
2. What kind of views do the concierge rooms, both standard & deluxe, have? Are there some garden & some boardwalk, or all boardwalk?
Thanks!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc
We had a "waterview" room that was not directly on the BW. It was above the Bellview Lounge or back end of FF (if you can visualize that) and faced the BWV and half of the lake could be seen. We had a lovely view of the lobby porch and rose garden area. We liked it, it was room 5269 (I think).

Hi everyone,
We just got a room at the BW concierge for November and are very excited. However, I have a few questions about the location of the rooms. When You look at the map of the Boardwalk Inn, it is shaped like a sideways "U" with the front being along the boardwalk (some rooms facing the Boardwalk and lake and the other side facing the quiet pool and courtyard) and the other side of the U faces the pools on one side, and parking lot/epcot on the other. Are concierge rooms only on the part along the Boardwalk, or are they also in the wing along the parking lot?
Also, do all of the rooms have balconies? Are they the same size or are there some small balconies? Are some of the rooms far from the elevators?
Thanks for any info!:jester:

Hi Boardwalk folks!
My sister and her DH have a 10th anniversary trip to WDW planned, leaving in a few days (May 10). They have reserved a (smoking)water view room. I'm wondering if any of you have an e-mail address where I could perhaps send a note to BWI just mentioning that this is an anniversary trip for my sister and BIL and anything they could do to make it "special" would be appreciated.

On our first trip to BWI we stayed in the courtyard and could woalk right out of our room to the quiet pool. I loved it! Recently I sent out a plea to see if someone had any better ideas. Not much has come in so I am asking for the same area again. What exactly do you get with Concierge Rooms? We have never had the honor of staying on that level. I sent a fax asking for a nonsmoking room with 2 queen beds near the quiet pool. I also told them that we wouod be celebrating our 22nd Anniversary. So far no response back but we will see when we get there on the 12th of May. Personally I enjoyed the BWI a lot but saying that i must say that I really love Yacht Club also!:D

I've only recently started reading and posting on the DIS again thanks to an insane Spring semester that is, thankfully, over, and realized I never posted to my own thread about our BWI experience this past Christmas.
Short Story: We adored our stay!
Longer version:
We checked in at 10:00 Wednesday night Dec. 18 and got exactly the type of view and balcony we had requested (Epcot view, full balcony). It was room # 5272. It was perfect: view out over the garden suites, and quiet courtyard, farther view was the Eiffel Tower and Morocco pavilion. Watched the fireworks from Illuminations under the covered baclony Christmas Eve (during in a downpour) and felt lucky I hadn't staked a spot in the wet and cold throng!
We had sent a box UPS with a small tree, decorations, and presents, but the package center was closed at that time of night. We were up and out for EE the next morning and when we returned to our room after lunch, the box had been brought up to our room for us.
Everything was sparkling: clean and beautiful. The woods florrs, the quiet decor, the secluded feel of the place, and the very friendly and helpful CMs made our stay lovely. I took quite a few photos of the place, but haven't scanned them in and haven't figured out how to post them, but I'll give that a try soon.
Mousekeeping always had my kids' stuffed animals "doing" soemthing different when we returned each day. The pool was a blast, although we only spent one afternoon there thanks to the cooler weather on some days and a packed schedule on others. Hardly anyone there that afternoon, maybe ten other people in the pool and another ten lounging.
The resort was absolutely DECKED OUT for Christmas, and the lobby featured not only giant trees but also a huge display made entirely from chocolate that was a scene of the Boardwalk, with additions like a carousel and ferris wheel and giant slide. Mickey and Minnie were going down the slide, Santa was riding the Ferris Wheel. There was a board listing all the candy used. The first one was: 250 pounds of white chocolate!
Walked to Epcot for the princess breakfast one morning -- took about 5 minutes! Ferry to MGM (and Epcot) came very regularly (max wait was 10 minutes).
We did two loads of laundry one night, dryers did seem slow, not a huge deal.
I'm sure there's more to report, but that's all that coming to me right now. That's what I get for waiting almost half a year!
I can say for certain that the BWI is one of the best-kept secrets of the deluxe resort properties.
If you have any questions, please post them. If I can't answer them, there seem to be several BWI supporters who might be able to!

We loved it! There is a samll amount of construction going on in the front portion of Boardwalk but they cover it so well you really don't notice it. As for noise we didn't hear any but again we were in the courtyard area. We loved the courtyard. It is beautiful, peaceful and right next to the pool. On the downside it was is a bit of a walk to the lobby (not any further than the end of main wings) and if you are the ground level you can't see the Epcot fireworks. The rooms were very roomy, tastefully decorated and had tons of drawer space. If you would like to know our entire trip review go to trip reports. Again I am very sorry I forgot!;)

I stayed at BWI over Labor Day last year. We were in Garden Suite 1205 and it was wonderful. A very quiet area and romantic. The rooms are beautiful and even though it was a walk back into the hotel and up to the 4th floor for the concierge service it was well worth it.
Suite 1205 has a balcony instead of the patio and I liked it much better. We could sit out and enjoy wine and a pretty view.
I'm hoping to stay in the same room for my wedding/honeymoon trip in March. And AP rates can be gotten for these types of suites if they become available, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for March.

We were at the BWI from Nov 1- Nov 8 and stayed in room 5270 which was wonderful and met all of our request that we had made with our reservation. We had requested non-smoking, fifth floor with Epcot Illuminations view, balcony and a daybed. It had everything we had requested and wasn't too far from the elevators.
L&MsMom, I think we stayed in 5269 right across the hall!;) We had a semi- BW view but would love 5270 for our upcoming trip since we have requested all the same things you did!

I stayed in room 5274 on my first visit, and I agree, it was wonderful! We were able to watch and hear Illuminations (at least the high fireworks) and had a fantastic Mousekeeper. She and my son played "hide the Komodo" all weekend long. ;)
(He had purchased a 3-4 foot plush Komodo at AK; the first day he accidently left it in his bed; we found it hiding behind the shower curtain when we returned, and the game was on!)

momtotwinglesx4 - I have never stayed in a deluxe concierge bwi room but will be doing so in Feb. I have gotten some info on them though and I'll be happy to pass it to you. This is from Disney Guest Services so it is hopefully accurate - Concierge Deluxe Room - 644sq Two Queen Beds & One Queen Sofa Bed I know it isn't much info but it's all I've got - besides the room layout on the Disney web site. These are the largest Deluxe rooms in the Epcot area (Disney owned). Please post about your stay when you get back as you'll be there before us.

momtotwinglesx4,
I haven't stayed in a deluxe concierge room, but I can tell you a tiny bit about the food offerings we experienced at BWI concierge. Here's a part of my review about the concierge lounge:
The lounge itself is very opulently decorated with huge sofas and chairs to relax in. There is also a desk area for the concierge staff to assist you inside the lounge. There are two beverage service areas and one main food service area. During our trip we tried the midday snacks, evening appetizers, and evening desserts and cordials. I am also happy to report that soft drinks were out for the taking. Can you tell I’m a Diet Coke addict? The midday snacks were plentiful and consisted of goldfish crackers, pretzels, popcorn, M&M’s, cookies, etc. Evening appetizers consisted of cheese, vegetable, and fruit trays, as well as hot appetizers. I found the mushroom stuffed phyllo pastries to be delicious! The evening desserts were a tiny bit disappointing. What they had was quite tasty, but there was not a lot of variety compared to our earlier experience with desserts at the Grand Floridian concierge.
The concierge staff in the lounge was very friendly, and they even started conversations with us. They were also happy to help us and were always polite. Also, their pre-planning team was extremely helpful and was even able to get us an Illuminations cruise.

I am looking forward to relaxing out on that big porch on those comfy rocking chairs...every single night for 10 nights....it will be great for my DH too, who is a super workaholic and will need that peaceful, beautiful atmosphere. We sat out on that porch a couple of years ago when we went there just to visit, and that is when I fell in love with BWI. It was a rainy evening and just getting dark, it looked so beautiful. We recently returned from Disney. 2nts BWI, 4 nts poly lvc, 2 nts AKL concierge. Wanted to let you know a few things from our stay.
We booked standard room using ap rate. Arrived at noon and inquired about any upgrades available. Cm gave me the sheet with rack rates and said, whatever the differences is. No concierge upsell here but we did want to see about an ap rate for a boardwalk view since the room they had originally assigned was way far out and by convention center. They had to call central reservations and said it would be ok. They just needed them to fax some info over and give them about and hour and we could get into the new room. This part took about 30 minutes. Took the kids to lunch, returned, and still no fax so off to MK. Returned around 6:30, tired, wet, and hungry. Still no fax so let's talk to the manager helping the unhappy group next to us. She finally got us into the room but had to bring our real keys up later--guess my whining kids in the lobby got them moving! They did send a lovely fruit basket which I assume was for my trouble, but it only said "Welcome to the Boardwalk Inn" so I'll never know.
We had room 3235 and it was very nice. We were between Boardwalk Bakery and Spoodles. There wasn't much noise when the doors were open (we were there during the week) and very quiet when doors closed. Only thing we heard was music from club at other end of boardwalk. Our balcony was a little walled off though, not the open ones, and part of it was really concealed. We did not have a daybed either (2 queens room). The only complaint about the room was the mold on the ceiling above the shower and the very sloppy caulking that was coming off near the tub. My 5 year old was actually the one to notice this.
The lobby and other main areas were lovely, just as pictured. I took an early morning walk and decided that we would've been better off with the standard view rooms. The garden areas were so pretty and fragrant and truly quiet.
It did take some time to figure out the elevators going where though, but I think this isn't the only resort like that.
About the pool. Loved the pool area. My 5yo did the Keister Coaster several times. One neat thing, they picked someone for the first kid of the day (unfortunately, not my son) for the first ride of the day. He got his picture taken with a rainbow clown wig and red nose and Magic Moment Certificate before they announced he was going to be the Keister Coaster Kid of the day--he then was the first one down the slide. Too cute! My 2 1/2 yo was begging to do the slide. The lifeguard told me no minimum age so he could do it. He had lifejacket on and I brought him to the top. I cannot tell you how awful it was to watch his little body spinning around while he was crying the whole way down (and he's my little daredevil!) He did not ask to do any other slides at the other resorts after this. I would definitely wait until they are bigger and braver for this one. Start off easy at AKL.
They also grabbed me in the lobby about doing a daily survey about our spending habits while here. For filling out where we spent money each day we could receive a disney character shaped pen each day. Don't know what they're doing with the info but the kids liked the pens and we are supposed to receive in the mail a gift worth $25 so we'll see.
Overall, a lovely resort. Would we stay here again. I doubt it, unless it's concierge and we could sidestep front desk altogether. I think we would enjoy it more when the kids are a bit older or on a trip without them--the garden suites look especially nice! Hope this info helps.

Actually, even with concierge, you must check-in at the front desk. We were surprised in December, because we've always stayed at the GF with personalized check-in. Though this certainly doesn't detract from the level of concierge service or our wonderful experience, it would be nice to have private check-in. We asked the concierge in December and she told me they were working on it.

Yes, that was the only thing they need to change.
the front desk check in does lack that extra special concierge check-in touch.
Jackie said they will have curb side concierge check-in soon.
Just returned from staying at a garden suite and I'm hooked on this place...the concierge lounge and staff are top-notch!::yes::

I am going agree with bambiTambly about the concierge level here. I have stayed at most of the CL at Disney resorts and have found the BWI to be my all time favorite. I will be returning in Oct for my 4th trip in 2 years. You can't beat the cast here. they are the absolute best on property. :Pinkbounc The lounge is so very relaxing, the views from all of the CL rooms are wonderful, either BW or garden view, I do like the garden view rooms. You are able to view Illuminations from the balconies in the lounge. Can't wait to go back!!!!:jumping1:

We have a room booked at the BC for July, but I am considering changing to the BWI if an AP rate is available still. How much larger are the concierge rooms than regular rooms? Do they all have a sofa bed? Is there any specific room location to request? Also, I cannot tolerate cigarette smell at all - I have read that the concierge rooms are all smoking optional - is this true?
Thanks for any info!

grumpyandbashful Ap rate I would change to the BWI. I have stayed the BC concierge and while I enjoyed it I much prefer the BWI. The deluxe concierge rooms are very big. They have 2 queen beds and a queensize sleep sofa. They are all BW views and just awesome. I have 2 booked for Oct. In all my times staying there I have never encountered any smoking odor. I never noticed if the rooms are somking optional. The evne numbered rooms are garden view and the odd numbers are BW view. We had room 4232 one time and the location was perfect. My son and his wife had 4223 and it was over near the ESPN club.
You will not regret changing your reservations!

As KerryCM said, the deluxe concierge rooms are wonderful. I don't know about the smoking issue, as I've never smelled any smoke. My fiance is a smoker, but does not smoke inside the room EVER. Note that the regular concierge rooms are the same size as standard rooms at the resort. You definitely can't go wrong with the BWI, especially concierge.

grumpyandbashful...I have stayed at both CLs and the BWI CL blows the BC CL away! Even the rooms are above par at the BWI. the BWI CL is a more intimate and hospitable lounge that completely pampers you and your family!
Plus, I can't imagine a bad view there!
I also have floor plans of the concierge deluxe rooms and others that were given to me from the CL managers.
give me a couple of more days to download everything and you'll have a link to these soon! ::yes::

. . .but have to decide whether to shell out the extra bucks!! We have a standard room reserved at the BC. My youngest DS is really set on the BC, but if the extra space makes it more liveable for the 5 of us, including 3 teens (), then I might switch. I was going for the larger room, as well as the concierge service.
I have read about the midday and later offerings - what is available at breakfast?
Thanks again - g & b

To put things in perspective, we have been spoiled by AKL concierge, which we adore :teeth:. But - we want the Epcot area this trip. In order to pay for BWI concierge, I would need some persuasion!
We love the great food available almost all day at AKL.
Are water and soda (esp. Diet Coke!!) available at BWI all day long?? DH and myself are Diet Coke addicts.

Ther are always snacks and drinks available. If you don't see what you want, just ask and it will appear. The breakfast is my favorite. the chocolate croissants are so yummy. the patries all come from the bakery on the BW. If you ahve special diet needs let the cast know. My son is a diabetic and they had sugar free muffins, sugar free chocolate coverd strawberries and cheesecakes for him. These were kept in the concierge kitchen and could have them any time. They were just wonderful to him.
I am so looking forward to my trip back. You will not regret your choice.

Any tips on what to request re. view?

You will not regret it at all!!! Do you have a waterview room booked? If so then you will have a bW view. The garden view rooms are of the quite pool and is equally as nice. I usually have one of these rooms. Make sure you let them know it is your niece's birthday. When you check in at the Innkeeper's Club, if it after 2, ask for either Jackie, Robin or Scott and tell them your niece's favorite character. They will make sure she has a surprise in the room. They will also do balloons. Last year for my grandaughter's 1st birthday they had the best sugar free cake, my son is diabetic, for her. You will love it there! Have fun.

We will be there July 24th and 25th - I hate that it is only 2 nights but we will be taking it easy so hopefully it won't fly by (yeah, right:p ) The 24th is DN's birthday. The girls are doing the Pirate Cruise at GF that morning and we will just check out early and have our bags moved (I guess, either that or a cab), take them to the Marina for their cruise...hit the GF Spa
princess: princess: , pick the girls up and head for the BWI! Ooooh, I cannot wait! I am going to PRAY for our room to be ready by 12:30pm.

What is the best room location to request for a view of epcot?
DemonLlama
07-16-2004, 08:41 AM
The water views do not have Epcot views, so you will need a garden view, and specify in your ressie that you would like a view of Epcot. This is what we did and watch the "top" of Illuminations from our balcony every night we were in the room at 9:00.
We overlooked the garden suites and a beautiful courtyard, and beyond that was the eiffel tower and the rest of World Showcase.

Yes you can hear the music during Illuminations from the balcony but it is not very loud. You can see all the high fireworks but not the low laser show and fireworks.

I just booked a water view at BWI for Oct 13 to 17. Got the special e-mail rate of $270 plus tax. Standard was $199. I decided to splurge for the water view since the last time we stayed at BWI for 1 night before our DVC stay at BWV we were next to the walkway to the bus stop for standard view. People were walking next past our balcony all hours. Anyway, is it worth it? Did anyone not get a great view with water view? Anything I should request?

Debbie B-
This is my second post to you because you'll be at the BWI the same time as I will be. Last October I had a standard view room and it was lovely. I had requested a large balcony which we got. It was overlooking a beautiful courtyard strewn with rose bushes. Based on this I wouldn't spend the extra $$ on waterview. My advice would be to book standard with a large balcony and courtyard view. Of cousrse, there's no guarentee you'll get it but it doesn't hurt to ask. If you do this, ask for an upgrade at check-in; you just might get it!

The Belle Vue is a nice little place to grab a quick breakfast. They usually have breakfast pastries, bagels, cold cereals (select from 4), coffee, tea, milk, juices and bottled water for purchase. The breakfast pastries and bagels come from the Boardwalk Bakery and cost the same as the bakery. The bow-ties are really good for a moring suger rush before you trot off to the parks.
We just got back from staying there 7/12 - 7/22.

Concierge rooms question:
If I understand correctly, to get an Epcot view, that means you would have a garden view, not a water/Boardwalk view.....is that correct?
Also, does anyone have room# recommendations??
We would rather have an Epcot view, and not be too far from the lounge.
Any info would be much appreciated.
I also have a map of the resort, does anyone know what room #'s concierge rooms are?

Yes, that's correct. If you are booking a deluxe room, though, all of them have Boardwalk views. We love the BW view - we watched Wishes from our balcony one night! If you can't get an Epcot view, the view from the balcony in the concierge lounge is beautiful for watching Illuminations.
The concierge rooms are the ones on the third (a small portion) and fourth (most of them and the lounge) floors above Seashore Sweets to beside the ESPN Club.

We have just booked a WV at the boardwalk for our upcoming trip after Thanksgiving. I did request a quiet NS room and the CM stated that we would definetely have a boardwalk view. We're really excited about our stay. Is there anything else I should add to my request or any other info I should know?

We stayed at BWI in Oct last year and the front desk staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and eager to help with anything you wanted or needed.
The bell staff, valets, maids and other cast members were very gracious and warm.
BWI is our favorite resort. We would not stay anywhere else on Dis property.
We had a waterview room on the 2nd floor sorry, I do not remember the room #. It was right by the Flying Fish. Balcony was small but roomy enough for two.
The room had two queen beds and a day bed. The room was a ways from the elevator, but not overly cumbersome.
Looking forward to our stay 11/2004.

"Are the BWV having a major water pipe refurb in October"
We just returned from BWV today and our hallway was definitely having water pipe work done. At first with thought it was from Charlie, but it appeared to be scheduled work. The carpet was covered in plastic in the hall and they were cutting out the ceiling, fixing pipes and then replacing the ceiling. It really didn't bother us much until they cut the phone line to our room and we didn't get a wake up call!!

I think there's a map showing a bird's eye view of the all the boardwalk resorts on the YC Thread. It shows an overview of YC, BC and BWI. They also show a hotel map of YC and BC, showing all the room locations on each floor. But I've never seen one for BWI.
I have requested Boardwalk/Waterview rooms for our visit 11/6-13, but now I'm not so sure. I've reserved concierge rooms, but wondering if we should request Garden view. I definitely don't want a view of Luna Park. Would this be considered a waterview room. If so, I may be better off requesting a garden view and hope for a view of Epcot and Illuminations.

Luna Park is on the Villas side so you would not get it with an Inn reservation. There is a quiet pool on the Inn side. From what I understand, all the water view rooms face the lake.

BOARDWALK INN FACT SHEET
WHAT IS THE THEMING OF THE BOARDWALK INN?
The 378 room BoardWalk Inn captures the feel of the '20s and '30s Eastern Seaboard. Crescent Lake makes a beautiful place to stroll around the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk itself is reminiscent of an easy going era of entertainment, dining, and vacation fun. The lighthearted, yet elegant atmosphere is pleasing to just about any age.
The lobby has beautiful furnishings, whimsical carousel rugs, interesting models of roller coasters and carousels, and music that will take you back to the Great Gatsby era. The window seats along the hall of the lobby are inviting conversation areas. The chandeliers and hard wood floors add an air of elegance to this lively, fun at heart resort.
Other deluxe resorts are nestled in the Crescent Lake area. The Yacht and Beach Clubs blend in beautifully and the theme fits perfectly with the three resorts around the lake. The Swan and Dolphin are a short walk away and add to the idea of whimsy and fun.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF STAYING AT THE BOARDWALK INN?
The close proximity to Epcot and the Disney-MGM Studios make this a convenient place to stay. Having 4 other premium resorts within walking distance makes the BoardWalk a sure bet for great dining and entertainment options. The promise of entertainment and fun on the Boardwalk is great for families, or even fun-loving couples. Being a deluxe resort, the BoardWalk Inn lures those who want to be pampered and enjoy all of the amenities a deluxe resort has to offer.
HOW ARE THE ROOMS LAID OUT?
The 390 square foot rooms are decorated in whites, blues, light greens and yellows. The mix of florals and bold colors makes for a sense of fun, and has the feel of a vacation home that doesn't exactly have perfectly matching patterns. The curtains have a whimsical postcard print on them. The furniture is beautiful cherry wood, and the bathrooms and vanities are marble.
The rooms are well appointed with either 2 queen beds and a daybed, or a king-size bed and a daybed. An armoire houses the television and provides drawer space for your belongings. There is a small table with 2 chairs, a spacious closet, a chest of drawers, and a private balcony or patio. Take note that the daybeds are 60 inches long! The bathroom is great for more than one person trying to get ready in the morning. The toilet and bathtub are separate from the vanity area. The vanity has two sinks and plenty of counter room, and a full length mirror on the door.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE ROOM VIEWS?
The Standard View category can either overlook the manicured grounds near the entrance of the resort, with the parking lot beyond that; or they can overlook beautiful gardens and walkways and quiet pool. These Standard Views seem to be the most private since they are closed off from the Boardwalk and the parking areas.
The Water View room category overlook Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk, and tend to be more lively in the evening hours. These Water View rooms are sometimes referred to as Preferred Views. A Variable View is usually used in conjunction with discounted rooms and means you won't have a guaranteed view because of the discount.
WHAT ABOUT THE CONCIERGE ROOMS AND GARDEN SUITES?
The BoardWalk boasts Concierge Service and beautiful Garden Suites, in addition to its already well-appointed rooms.
Concierge service offers deluxe rooms with added amenities such as: robes, TV speaker in the bathroom, deluxe nightly turn down service, continental breakfast buffet, English style tea in the afternoon, and wine, cheese, and cordials in the evening. Most rooms are on the 4th floor. NOTE: Concierge rooms are NOT designated as smoking or nonsmoking.Concierge level guests have their own private lounge and private access. Epcot's IllumiNations can be seen nightly from the balcony in the Concierge Lounge.
The Concierge Lounge "Innkeeper's Club " hours of service are: Continental Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m.; Refreshments from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tea and Sweets from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Wine and Cheese Selections from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Cordials and Desserts from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Garden Suites are designed for Honeymooners but can easily accommodate a family of four and are two stories. There are 14 Garden Suites and all but three have private entrance courtyards. The three that do not, have private balconies. The yards are separated by white picket fences that are about 3 feet tall. Each of the front yards are individually landscaped. At the gated entrance to the yard, there is a small decorative bird house with the room number on it. These front yards lead to the one and only entry way of the suite, and are being grown into manicured rose gardens.
There is a living room on the first floor and a bedroom loft on the second floor. The first floor has a TV, 1/2 bath, bread bar, and a queen size sofa bed. The 2nd level loft, in most cases, overlooks the lower level which creates a very large, vaulted ceiling effect. The three with private balconies have more of an actually separate second level. Either way, the second level features an elevated King size bed. Upstairs you will also find an addition TV, and a full bath with a giant Jacuzzi tub that will easily accommodate two people. There is even a third mini TV for viewing while in the Jacuzzi tub.
WHAT ARE THE ROOM PRICES?
Just like the other WDW hotels, there are Value Season, Regular Season, Peak Season and Holiday Season rates. Rates begin at $289 a night. These are regular rate prices and do not include the 6% Florida Sales Tax nor the 11% county resort tax. Rates are based on double occupancy. No charge for children under 17 years old when in the same room as the adults. For each adult over 2 there is a $25 per night charge per person. Maximum of 5 persons per room.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BOARDWALK VILLAS AND THE BOARDWALK INN?
Disney's BoardWalk Villas are a timeshare resort that are part of the Disney Vacation Club. Disney's BoardWalk Inn is a Disney hotel in the "Deluxe Resort" category.
WHAT ARE THE SERVICES, FACILITIES AND AMENITIES AT THE BOARDWALK INN?
The Boardwalk Inn provides many services, in addition to those normally provided at a resort, are: business center, concierge service, express check-out, 24-hour front desk, disabled-accessible rooms, laundry/valet services, meeting and banquet facilities, valet parking ($7 per day/car), and 24 hour room service.
HOW DO I GET TO ALL OF THE WONDERFUL PLACES AS WDW?
You picked a great resort because it is all about Location! Location! Location!
Epcot is a pleasant 5 minute stroll from the Boardwalk Inn. Or if you choose you can catch a Friendship boat from the boat dock right outside on the Boardwalk. The boats leave every 20 minutes and those on the right side of the dock will bring you to the International Gateway, right at Epcot's ticket gates. I highly recommend walking to Epcot. Nine times out of 10 it is much faster than taking the Friendship boat.
To reach the Disney-MGM Studios you have two options. You could take a leisurely 15 to 20 minute stroll along the approximately one-mile long path along the waterway connecting the Epcot resort area with the Disney-MGM Studios. Or you can take the Friendship boat from the left side of the boat dock on the Boardwalk, making stops at the Yacht and Beach Club dock and then the Swan and Dolphin dock before continuing on to the Studios. Don't worry if you just miss the boat and don't want to wait the 20 minutes for the next one, and don't want to walk all the way to the Studios. Just walk on over to the Swan and Dolphin dock and pick up the boat there.
There are direct buses in front of the hotel to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Downtown Disney (with stops at the Marketplace and the West Side). You can connect to other Disney resorts from either the Marketplace or from the parks.
I KNOW MY ROOM WILL HAVE BEDS AND A BATHROOM, BUT WHAT ELSE?
The rooms at the BoardWalk Inn have been thoughtfully stocked with many extras. The closet contains an ironing board, iron, portable crib, small safe for your valuables, and hangers. Hair dryers and make-up mirrors are mounted on the wall in the vanity area. Alarm clocks are provided so you can be the first one in the parks.
WHAT ABOUT A REFRIGERATOR?
You can request a small refrigerator for your room for $10.60 per day (includes tax). The refrigerators are handy for snacks, sodas, and baby supplies.
I HAVE TO HAVE MY MORNING COFFEE!
The Belle Vue Room serves a continental breakfast from 6:30 - 10 a.m.: Croissants, muffins, bagels, danish, yogurt, cookies, toast, coffee, tea, cereal, juice and fruit are on the menu.
There is also a cart on the Boardwalk called Boardwalk Joe's that serves freshly brewed coffee, cappuccino, espresso, flavored coffees and assorted pastries. Its hours are subject to change seasonally.
The Boardwalk Bakery offers you an early morning opportunity to see a "Bun-rise" while having your java fix. Cappuccino and espressos, as well specially made fresh baked goods are offered. Open at 7:00 am (hours subject to change seasonally)
IS THERE A LOUNGE IN THE HOTEL WHERE I CAN RELAX AND HAVE A DRINK?
Yes, the Belle Vue Room is located on the Boardwalk Inn side of the complex. There is a balcony that offers a view of Crescent Lake. Hours are 5 p.m. until midnight. (You can also get your morning coffee/tea here.)
The Belle Vue Room has an excellent selection of premium scotch!
WHAT ARE THE DINING OPTIONS?
Dining options at the BoardWalk Inn are endless. Not only are Epcot and all of its wonderful restaurants just a stroll away, but you also have all of the dining options at the Swan/Dolphin, and the Yacht and Beach Club right there also. The BoardWalk itself boasts many great dining opportunities.
The ESPN Club is a sports club with sports aplenty on the TVs that dot the establishment. The food is standard sports club fare such as burgers, sandwiches, drinks, appetizers, and desserts. The atmosphere is fun and inviting to families for lunch and dinner.
The BoardWalk Bakery offers baked goods, espressos, and cappuccinos.
Spoodles offers Mediterranean cuisine in a lively atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner are served. Mediterranean food sounds a little exotic, but even the pickiest of eaters find something to satisfy them here. Open 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 P.M.
Spoodles also has a Pizza Take Out window on the Boardwalk. Open noon to midnight.
Seashore Sweets serves hand-dipped ice cream, salt water taffy, candy, chocolate and cookies. Open 1 p.m. to midnight.
The Flying Fish Cafe presents diners with fresh selections of seafood and steaks. There is an open kitchen there you can watch the chefs work their magic. A great place for a special meal. The Flying Fish is only open for dinner hours. Open Sunday through Thursday 5:30 to 10:00 P.M. Open Friday and Saturday 5:30 to 10:30 P.M.
Big River Grille and Brewing Works is a must for any ale or micro-brew fan. Big River has tempting selections of beer breads, sausages, gourmet burgers and salads. A lighthearted atmosphere for a casual meal. Open 11:30 a.m. to midnight. Dine in or out on the Boardwalk.
Leaping Horse Libations at Luna Park is a great place for a sandwich or hot dog. Of course, room service is available 24 hours a day.
WHAT ABOUT NIGHT SPOTS ON THE BOARDWALK?
Atlantic Dance is the place to go for music and dancing. Jellyrolls features nonstop live entertainment on two dueling pianos as you join in the fun with singing and surprises. ESPN Club keeps the excitement of the games alive all night with updates and prize giveaways. And don't forget the Boardwalk itself with the live entertainers who invite you to participate in the magical silliness. Check here for more information about the Boardwalk at night.
WHERE CAN I BUTY A T-SHIRT AND SOME TOOTHPASTE?
Dundy's Sundries is located just off the lobby on the Villa side. It stocks resort logo merchandise and some basic necessities and toiletries. Character Carnival, Screen Door General Store, and Thimbles and Threads are all located on the Boardwalk . The three stores comprise one giant store and feature character merchandise, clothing for the whole family, as well as groceries and snacks. Wyland Galleries showcases contemporary, environmental art on the BoardWalk . Sports fans can find ESPN merchandise at the ESPN Club.
Help! I've run out of clean clothes! Can you point me in the direction of the laundry room??
On the 3rd floor of the Boardwalk Inn there is a laundry room accessible only to Inn guests via their room keys. There are three washing machines, one commercial sized washing machine, and six clothes dryers. Each of these machines costs $2 a load to run. Additionally there is a television, a large table on which to fold your laundry, two chairs, three rolling laundry baskets, a telephone and a vending machine selling laundry supplies (Tide, Cheer, Bounce (2 sheets), Clorox 2) at a cost of $1 per box.
CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A BABYSITTER FOR THE EVENING?
The Boardwalk's Harbor Club --a supervised activity center for children 4-12 -- is closed indefinitely. Guests may use the Sandcastle Club at the Yacht and Beach Club on the other side of the lake. Visit our Childcare FAQ for more info.
A private sitting service, Kids' Night Out, also provides baby-sitting services at WDW. For rates and more information, they can be reached at (407) 827-5444.
WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES CAN BE FOUND ON THE BOARDWALK?
The Boardwalk offers a wide range of activities that differs from day to day. Seasonally, you will find midway games, jugglers, entertainers, hand wax molds, food vendors, magic shows. Bike riding along the Boardwalk is a popular past time. At night, the night clubs and restaurants spring to life and bring with them music, laughter, and people.
One of the favorite activities for families and groups are renting the Surrey Bikes. You can pedal your way around Crescent Lake , over to the Beach/Yacht Club , Swan/Dolphin. Surrey bikes are no longer allowed on the walkway to Epcot's World Showcase. Rentals are available on the Boardwalk itself.
TELL ME ABOUT THE POOLS AND OTHER RECREATION OPTIONS
The BoardWalk's themed swimming area is known as Luna Park , and features a large pool with a 200 foot water slide called "Keister Coaster . The pool area has the theming of a turn of the century carnival. Even the water slide looks like a wooden roller coaster. There are playful elephants to shower you before entering the pool. The play area for the resort, Luna Park Crazy House , is also located here.
There is a pool-side bar, Leaping Horse Libations, conveniently located next to Luna Park for drinks and snacks. You can't miss it, the bar is shaped like a giant carousel.
Swimming tubes, noodles, and towels are available at a stand near the pool, where they also check resort ID.
There are two quiet pools: one is located within the Inn's Rose Garden Courtyard, the other next to Community Hall in the Villa area.
Muscles and Bustles Health Club offers free weights, Life Fitness, Stairmaster and Cybex exercise equipment. Also available are: steam room, sauna, tanning bed and massage therapies. The health club is located near Luna Park and is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Massage therapies include Swedish Relaxation, Deep Tissue and Aromatherapy and prices begin at $50 for 25 minutes. For more information, call the Fitness Center directly at 939-2370.
An Epcot resort jogging trail map is available from the Health Club.
Community Hall offers a wide range of equipment to pursue just about any recreational inclination. Inquire about fishing trips (there's even one just for kids! $30) at the Hall. Community Hall is on the Villa side and rents bikes ($7.00/hour), tubes, noodles, videos ($3.18), and tennis rackets ($5.30).. You can also play ping pong, croquet and more. The paths around the BoardWalk Inn and Villas make for a beautiful run or walk. Marine activities are only as far as the Yacht Club harbor. Bicycles are a great way to motor around the Crescent Lake area and see all of the hotels and their grounds.
There are two lighted surfaced Tennis Courts located on the Villa side of the resort. Courts are free to Boardwalk Inn and Villa guests. Make reservations at Community Hall. Rental equipment is available.
If you are hooked on fishing, be sure to inquire about the guided fishing excursions!
HOW DO I USE VALET PARKING?
Simply drive your vehicle to the front of the resort and a Cast Member will them park it for you. Valet parking is $7 per car for the day, even if you are staying at the Boardwalk. Don't forget to tip the valet (both the one who takes your car and the one who brings it back to you - $1-2 is recommended) When you need to retrieve your vehicle, simply give the valet your slip of paper you were given when the car was parked, and your car will promptly be delivered to the front of the hotel.
DOES THE BOARDWALK INN HAVE A SECURITY GATE?
Yes, the Boardwalk complex has a guarded security gate. Upon initial arrival, simply explain to the guard you are checking in. Once you have checked in, your resort room key will also serve to open the security gates (pull on the right side to activate the guest gate).
My child is celebrating a birthday during our stay. Is there something special we can do at the Boardwalk?
Birthday party facilities are available at the Boardwalk Inn/Villa complex. Parties can include decorated party room, personalized cake, hot dogs and hamburgers, chips and sodas, balloons, candy, and swimming at Luna Park and free video arcade. Check with Cast Members at Community Hall.
DOES THE BOARDWALK HAVE EPCOT FIREWORKS CRUISES?
Yes, you can rent a Pontoon to enjoy Epcot's IllumiNations ! This can also be a birthday cruise and will include a driver, cake, balloons, lights snacks and of course the fireworks. For full details on the cruises visit the IllumiNations page.
I HEARD THAT NORMAL WDE PARK CASUAL ATTIRE IS FROWNED UPON AT THE BOARDWALK. IS THIS TRUE?
This could not be further from the truth. WDW is a family vacation resort. Casual attire is the norm and accepted all over WDW. In fact, the only restaurant in all of WDW with a "dress code" is Victoria and Albert's in the Grand Floridian. You will find some people dress up for various occasions, including dinner, but most guests are here on vacation and to relax! Your casual attire is most welcome!
HOW DO I FIND THE BOARDWALK INN?
Take I-4 to Exit 67. Take 2nd exit (Epcot Resorts/Disney-MGM Studios). Turn right at 4th traffic signal. The BoardWalk Inn will be on the left.
I WANT THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME, BUT I DON'T WANT TO SPEND A LIFETIME FINANCING IT!
There are many ways to save a few dollars on your accommodations at WDW. Membership in the Magic Kingdom Club or AAA can save you 10-20% at the BoardWalk Inn, depending on the time of year you choose to visit. Annual passholders can save a great deal by visiting during annual passholder specials. Florida residents get a break for living in the same state as the Mouse. Don't forget holidays are the most expensive time to visit, along with most of the summer. Generally, planning your trip during the off-season can save you money right off the bat.
TIPS ON MAKING THE MOST OF THE BOARDWALK INN
The Boardwalk resort complex has been beautifully landscaped ; be sure to stroll the grounds. Not only can you find colorful flower beds, but you can also enjoy quiet surroundings, fountains and benches.
With a fresh cup of morning coffee, there are many wonderful places to sit and enjoy the view -- Luna Park, the quiet pools, the balcony off the lobby, or even the Boardwalk itself.
Guests cannot access the Boardwalk from the garden and quiet pool areas. You have to go into the lobby first. This is to ensure guests privacy and security.
If you're running late and miss the boat for MGM, don't worry! The BoardWalk is the first stop on the loop of the boat--you can easily catch it at the Swan/Dolphin, which is the last stop.
There are refillable mugs available at the resort. They are red and white with Donald and Daisy Duck on them. The mugs can be purchased at Leaping Horse Libations pool bar and Seashore Sweets.
Jellyrolls charges a cover charge even if you are a resort guest.
Pocket pagers are available for rent; 24 hour notice is required. Check with the Front Desk for details.
Parking - - there is a HUGE lot (actually, two HUGE lots separated by the drive up to the front entrance) where you park your car. It's a long walk from your room to the car, unless you want to pay for valet parking, (give the CM a tip for putting it in the valet section and tip him again for going to get it).

my reservation came in the mail today- I booked Concierge, but the reservation does not state that- room type is listed as variable. When I called to check, they said I was booked for concierge--but why does it not say this??Should be concerned that I will have a problem at check in?? Thank you

It always says that - I call every time also to verify that we're booked in concierge. For some reason, the confirmations don't specify concierge or a specific view. For instance, we stay in a deluxe concierge room which has a Boardwalk view, but it's always listed as variable with no indication of concierge. Don't worry about - you're in concierge.

Hey BWI CL experts!
I have never been to BWI and am planning a 15th anniversary for me and DH in early December. I was able to reserve a garden suite but am also interested in the deluxe concierge room. What do you think? I like a balcony and I think there are only 3 garden suites with balconies. Does anyone know what those units are like? Where is the balcony in relation to the suite? ALso, what is the view from the garden suites (other than the obvious!) Can you see Illuminations or any of Epcot? Are the suites terribly far from the concierge lounge? Thanks for your help!
KerryCM
09-21-2004, 03:55 AM
Yes, the suites are a ways from the lounge. You have to go back inside the building, up the elevator and down the hall to the lounge. The views are of the quiet pool and if you go outside you may be able to see some of the high fireworks from Illuminations. They are beautiful and roomy and very romantic. That being said, I would rather stay in a deluxe room, have 3 booked for Oct., They have great views of the Boardwalk and I love sitting and people watching. However, some are on the 4th floor, lounge floor,nd some are on the 3rd or 5th floor. Just make sure you let your planner know you want to be on the 4th floor.
The BW is my favorite place to stay and I stay there twice a year. The cast is wonderful there. Have a great trip.

KerryCM-would you know how many CL BW view rooms there are? Are they all located on the 4th floor? My confirmation from my TA says Deluxe but IPO says its just a regular BW view room.

KerryCM - Thanks for the info - BWI sounds wonderful! Was it you who mentioned that your daughter had a king size deluxe concierge room? Where was it located? There is a picture somewhere (I thought it was on laughingplace, but can't find it now) of a king bed in a deluxe room and it looked fabulous. Not sure how many king rooms there are but thought that might be nice. I've heard varying opinions on the noise level in those boardwalk rooms. What was your experience? My DH wants the extra room so a regular room won't cut it - thus the deluxe or garden suite. Hmmm..maybe 2 nights in each would be a solution!
We will be at BCV in Oct. with my parents and sister's family before moving to a GF 2-br suite. Can't wait to celebrate mom and dad's 75th birthdays with Mickey!

mom_rules First all of the deluxe rooms are BW view, but not all deluxe rooms are on the 4th floor. Ther are quite a few of the BW view regular concierge rooms. I am not sure exactly how many. There really aren't that many deluxe rooms at all. I have 2 booked plus a BW view room. None of my confirmations say deluxe but I was told the code on it indicates deluxe.
minniesota My son and his wife had a king room for their honeymoon. It was right after you walked in by the locked doors. It is in sort of an alcove. they loved the room. When in Oct will you be there? I am there from the 14th -29th. I know I will see mom_rules there. The extra room is nice, but the regular king rooms are very roomy. I don't find it noisy at all with a BW view room.. It is nice to sit on the balcony and people watch!

09-21-2004, 09:10 AM
KerryCM - We will be there Oct. 16-23! We are doing the MNSSHP on the 17th, and we have an Illuminations cruise on the 19th. I also have a Wishes cruise reserved but we are still deciding on that one. We haven't seen Wishes yet and I think we'd like to see it from the park the first time. Not sure if it really matters, however. My mom and dad love to be out on the water and the Oct. trip is all about them.
Regarding the king deluxe room...my DH loves to have a separate reading area (he's a night owl and hates to keep me awake by reading in bed) so from the picture it looked like the sitting area was away from the sleeping area. Your daughter's room sounds wonderful - what store/building was below them? I'm trying to get a feel for where the deluxe rooms are located. Thanks for all your help!

minniesota Their room was above Seashore sweets, I think. I will check when Carri comes to pick my grandaughter up! i babsit for them.
I have an Illuminations Cruise for the 16th. it is beginning to look like it will be just Jim and I. Madyson may be too scared of the noise and Carri's parents aren't sure if they will be meeting friends that night! Oh well, it will be fun anyway. I am going to the party the 17th also. Both Carri and Madyson will be Snow White!

KerryCM - Thank you - that would be great! I love the way Madyson spells her name. I'll be looking for two adorable Snow Whites. We are all Minnesota Twins fans and they will be in the playoffs in Oct. so you may see a band of 8 Minnesota Twins fans at the party. Say hello if you spot us!

I am considering booking this resort for my next trip. Is it a good resort for a couple with no kids?
Cinderella37
09-23-2004, 05:20 PM
It's an excellent resort for a couple with no kids. My fiance and I don't have kids and LOVE the BWI. The location is fabulous - you can walk to Epcot and to MGM. The nightlife is wonderful: ESPN Club, Atlantic Dance, Jellyrolls, Belle View Lounge (inside BWI). You can be entertained until 2:00 in the morning without having to leave your resort.
There is a quiet pool, but I prefer Luna Park. The chairs are scattered thoughout, rather than being shoved up against one another. It's fun just to get a drink and sit on the BW and people watch. Getting a BW view room also affords this luxury.
We used to stay at the GF and there were way more kids there than at the BWI. It's truly a delightful place. If you're interested in concierge, they're the best on property.

I am giving this thread a friendly bump as it took me a long time to find it today.
I have two questions:
1. Just wondering from anyone who stayed at Concierge recently, did you have a separate checkin? A previous post mentioned that a curbside checkin for concierge level guests was on its way.
2. Also wondering on opinions out there whether to request a Boardwalk view or Epcot/Illuminations view. I don't know that we'll be in our room at 9 pm. Even it we're at the resort, we'll probably be in the lounge and can watch Illuminations from there.
I am a bit concerned that the Boardwalk rooms might be noisy. Has anyone been dissatisfied with their Boardwalk room on the concierge floor due to noise from the clubs and boardwalk?

You still need to check in at the front desk like everyone else. Even if your room is not ready you are able to go upstairs to enjoy the lounge.
I don't find the BW view rooms noisy at all. Once those doors are closed you barley hear anything. My son and his wife had rooms towrads the ESPN club last year and it did get noisy when the baseball playoff games were on though. I do like the garden view rooms better. It is so nice and peacful at night.

okay, i went thru a series of tests and finally have decided on BWI for my next trip. i will be taking my mom and plan to spend most of our time in epcot. i have a couple of questions that i can't seem to find the answer.
1. i am trying to decide btwn the standard view/water view. i would love a balcony. i think my mom would love to sit out there. is one room better than the other for this?
2. is there a coffee pot in the room?
3. where can i refill my souvenir mug?
thanks!

Full balcony overlooking the bw is great-we watched the bw wake up in the morning-people getting breakfast at the bakery, walkers and joggers. In the evening we were able to watch some of the performers on the bw from our vantage. We did not notice any noise at night when our door was closed. It is very pretty when the lights are on and the Friendship boats glide back and forth.
We did not have a coffeemaker when we arrived-called to housekeeping and they had one in our room within 15 minutes with coffee, sugar and whitener. If you have a fridge you can purchase small bottles of milk on the bw.
Can't help you with the mug question-we really didn't see anywhere to refill them.

Candice30~
I can answer #3: You can refill your mugs inside the BWI at the Belleview Lounge where they also sell a small continental breakfast (coffee/tea/rolls/fruit); or you can refill it outside on the Boardwalk at the Boardwalk Bakery.
Also, make sure you request that you want a full balcony because we found out the hard way that there are pulpet type balconies as well where only one person can stand at a time -- no chair. I think all the water/Boardwalk views are full size balconies, but the standard rooms or the garden view rooms have some of the tiny balconies.
You will love the BWI! It is our favorite! Wish we were planning another trip back soon.

Hi mom_rules,
I know the Belleview lounge was open the mornings we were there this summer because we ate in there. Here is some info I copied from Deb's website:
http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_bw.htm
"I have to have my morning coffee!
The Belle Vue Room has an excellent selection of premium scotch!"

Thanks to everyone for sharing such helpful information! We were very well-prepared for our first trip (in 18 years) to WDW.
We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn from 11/19-11/26. We were in room 2341, which is on the lobby level and not too far from the elevators. When we checked in and were given our room number, I was sort of disappointed, as I had wanted a higher floor. We decided to check out the room first before making any requests to change. The room was in a section of the hotel that has only 2 floors and which faces a quiet pool (which we couldn't see) and courtyard. (We had requested a standard view room.) We had two balconies -- a large one facing the Epcot fireworks (which we could see most of) and a small one the other facing another building. There were no rooms next to us on one side and we never heard the people in the room next to us.
It was a rather spacious room (I was pleasantly surprised), with 2 queen size beds, a small table with two chairs, and a club chair. Even though there were 4 of us (myself, DH, DS10, DS 12), we never felt too crowded in there. Our room had a large dresser/armoire with TV and a smaller dresser with a deep bottom drawer (perfect as a hamper).
We were a short 5 minute walk to Epcot and 10-15 minute walk to MGM. We usually took the boat to MGM, but got annoyed at having to stop at Yacht & Beach Club and Swan and Dolphin every time. Same issue with the buses. Seemed we always had to stop at S & D! Occasionally, we caught a random "express bus" that went straight to the park, but there was no way to know before hopping aboard.
We did laundry once during the trip. The laundry room is right off the elevator on the third floor. There were 3-4 washers and 6 (?) dryers. They're a little worse for the wear, but they do the trick. Change machine and soap vending machines are in there, as well as a TV.
We ate breakfast almost every morning at the Bellevue Lounge. They have muffins, cereal, pastries, fruit, coffee, milk, juice. It's not great, but does the trick. You can eat there or take it back to the room. If you go to the Boardwalk Bakery, it has pretty much the same stuff (a little more pastry variety)-- they must deliver to the Lounge.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving feast at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club -- would highly recommend it to others. Overall, a great trip! Again, thanks all for your tips and advice!

thank you to everyone who put this thread together... it's quite comprehensive and if we decide to go deluxe, i think this is the one for us!

is there a charge for the continental breakfast referenced above? i could not find a "menu" for it, yet it seems very un-disney to offer free breakfast on a non-concierge level... does anyone know the pricing?

is there a charge for the continental breakfast referenced above? i could not find a "menu" for it, yet it seems very un-disney to offer free breakfast on a non-concierge level... does anyone know the pricing?
thanks in advance!
I try and look in on this thread now and again since BWI is my family's favorite resort and I like to help out with info when possible. Sorry no one has answered you gigi1313. I can tell you that it is not free ~ each item is individually priced, just like down at the bakery. It is just more convenient to pop into the lounge and eat it there. The lounge has an "old world gentleman's library" look to it and we enjoyed sitting in the big leather chairs or upholstered wingbacks to eat. It was charming for a quick continental type breakfast.

I know you can walk to epcot very easily but what about in the early morning when only future world is open. Do you use the same entrance and walk through the country's or is there another way to get in.
Thanks
Kathy
Kathy, Yup, no problem. When we have done so they let us in 5 min. prior to park opening. We were able to just beat the front gate crowd who were being ushered in by CMs on segways. We grabbed 2 FP to MS and 2 for TT (there were 4 of us). We all rode TT together, then DS and I used FP to ride again (no wait) and DH and DD went to MS. Did all that is around 30 min. But have read some posts that say they did not get in 5 min. early so maybe it depends on the CM at the gate? :confused3
It is a pleasant walk thru WS in the morning! :sunny:

Thanks vicp for your quick response. We haven't stayed at the BW before and are really looking foward to it.
We stayed at the BWI in January, 2003 and had a great water view room that overlooked the BW. We will be going to WDW again in August and I would like to stay at BWI again in a water view room (which, without a code, is 75$ more per night than standard view).
I do not mind (too much) paying the extra amount if I am guarantied a BW view, but would be REALLY ANGRY :badpc: :badpc: if my extra money only got me a view of a pool. Does anyone know for sure that all WV rooms at the BWI overlook the BW? If not, how many rooms do not?
Thanks! :earseek: :earseek:

I think that they also consider the rooms overlooking the quiet pool as WV. Be specific and ask for a BW view when booking.

What times can you get soda with your mugs. Does the Bakery have soda there also, I figure they open early. Thought some good caffeine before the parks is good. Also how late can you get it at the seashor sweets or spoodles pizza counter...How about the Belle Vue lounge. Just trying to see if it is worth it since we are at the parks during the day and would only use it in the AM and Late PM...we are going in June and our late owls.

Hi there! I am just checking out your thread and of course cannot read and digest all the info, so I just wanna throw out some questions to ya, if that's ok....
I know this thread is dedicated to the INN...but is there a ton of difference in the info? I mean, I understand the rooms are different, but do the Villas share a lobby with the Inn? Is everything available to the Inn within walking distance of the Villas?
We will be renting points and staying during the week in may. I have only been to the actual boardwalk one time. It was quite awhile ago, so I cannot get my bearings straight and picture where everything is. I would love to see a map, and I went on Deb's site, but the map is small and I could not read it!
I am especially looking forward to the lounge area in the hotel...it looks cozy. Any experiences there from anyone?
This is going to be an anniversary trip for DH and I...we are leaving our DD behind (shhh, don't tell her!) So I would like to know what kind of grown up activities we should look for.
Thanks for any and all input!

OK, I read all 13 pages of this thread, thanks for all the information! I have one question that I either missed the answer to or it was never asked. We are staying in a concierge room in August, is the Innkeepers Club open all the time, or just when they are serving food etc. When we stayed at the Poly concierge, the lounge was always open for us to grab a drink or sit and relax, is it the same at BWI? Thanks!

Hi everyone. I thought I would drop by an ask the BWI lovers a transportation question.
We are staying at the WL in November, but would like to enjoy some of the restaurants and entertainment at the BW. Since they did away with the WL to TTC bus it limits some of the transportation options from the WL. Does it make sense to take the bus from the WL to MGM and then take the boat over to BWI? And do the same to get back to the WL? And doing this of course when MGM is still open :earsboy:

You could take a bus to Epcot and then walk out the world showcase entrance to the Boardwalk. Any other ideas? Why did they eliminate the bus to the TTC? That makes it really tough to get to other resorts!

That can be a long walk when you are tired, from the front of Epcot to the International Gateway. Have done that once. :faint:
Personally I would take a cab one way. Usually when going resort to resort we have done that. Costs about $10-12. But I don't thing it would be too bad to take the bus to MGM and boat to BW.

 Why did they eliminate the bus to the TTC? That makes it really tough to get to other resorts!
They eliminated all the resort buses to and from TTC.
From the WL they added a bus to MK (only boat access before). From MK you can get most everywhere. I guess I could do that to get to the BW but I'm don't want to have to go through MK to get back in the evening.
Walking through EPCOT with the kids is a little too far. Just looking for another option to get to BW from WL and thought the bus to MGM then boat ride to BW might work out ok.
And I know this logic is a little backward after spending thousands of $'s on a Disney vacation...but I really hate to spend more money paying for a cab.
I know what you mean about the extra money for a cab but we usually do it one way and with kids we find it worth it to save the hassel. Too bad about the bus being eliminated. Seems they could find a better way to provide resort to resort transport!

Hey everyone!
We're headed to the BoardWalk Villas in July. We were wondering what groceries are available at the Screen Door General Store and just how pricey are they? We want to have some food available in our room, but as a money saving type of thing...so if it's too expensive in the store, that really wouldn't be the greatest plan.
Thanks so much!
Things were definitely expensive there but we were in the Inn not villas so not buying much. We bought yogurts, pretzels, cookies, drinks etc... They did have a frozen case with little pizzas but not sure what else. You can buy beer by the bottle there. I also remember seeing bagels and Entimenn donuts.
It is convienent but probably not a good cost saver.

Steevo - Concierge level does not include valet parking at any of the Deluxe resorts. It is $6 each day plus tips to get the car out. Once you pay for the day at one resort, you can park at all the other Deluxe resorts for free that day except for tips. Only DVC members get free valet parking.
Question for all of y'all BWI afficionados. DH and I are going on an adults-only trip to WDW in December. Right now we are booked YC Concierge but I am now seriously reconsidering and thinking of going BWI Concierge. We are specifically looking at Concierge Deluxe and Garden Suites.
I like the Garden Suites because they are darling and have tons of space and a King bed but I'm wondering if they are really worth the extra cost for just the two of us. It looks like the Concierge Deluxe is pretty big but I was wondering if any of them have king size beds. It sounds like they are all queen but then someone also said there was one king? Do you think the extra cost is worth it? Please advise.
TIA!!

we stayed concierge deluxe--2 queen beds. It was very nice, very convienet to the lounge. I believe all of the deluxe rooms face the boardwalk. It is a large room--like 1 standard BWI room and 3/4 of another added on to it that has a sofa, large entertainment unit with TV and I believe a chair or two. The sofa is a hide-a-bed. Our porch had two chairs. We had 5 people in our room--4 adults and 1 small teenager and the room was plenty big for all of us. We could have used another bathroom ( :sad2: )--but, other than that we had plenty of space.
I agree the Garden Suites are very charming. I personally wouldn't like having to walk into the main hotel in order to utilize the concierge lounge and I believe those are concierge level rooms.
BWI is pretty at Christmas time!! I am sure YC is also decorated nicely...just recall BWI being beautiful.

There is a Hess station across the street that has convenience store items at a reasonable price.
You can also get free valet if you have a Disney Dining Experience Card and dine at the resort you park at. I'm not sure if the restaurants on the Boardwalk count for BWI since they are really not part of the hotel.

Hey Shauna~
We stayed in Garden Suite 1205 when we were there last Thanksgiving. It was a nice suite. two levels, plenty of space.
The only thing I didn't like was having to walk all the way up to the concierge level Innkeeper's club, but I was able to take a few bagels and tea back to our suite. I wish I had a tray!!!
Have fun! you'll love it, we were right across from the pool and hot tub, but it wasn't noisy at all. We could see some of the Epcot fireworks from our balcony. Once I went up to the concierge lounge and could basically see the same from our balcony.

Jeanny and D&R - Was the King bed comfortable? We usually stay W, Hyatt Regency and Sheraton and they all have the "Heavenly Bed" type. Are BWI's beds comparable?
Also, DH and I have a daily cigarette. Do you think it would work better for us to have a patio or one of the balcony rooms?
And one last thing - Do either of you have photos of the room?
Thanks for sharing your opinions!

I actually only slept in the king bed one night, I slept on the queen pullout sofa and that was fine. My daughter slept upstairs in the king bed. It was comfortable, but not as comfortable as my own bed at home...

Hot tubs.... Yes! Defintely one at the main Luna Park pool, I know as my kids were in and out of it a lot on the cooler days of our trip there! :cold: We never actually used the quiet pool but did walk out and look at it and I think I remember there being a hot tub. Don't the garden suites come with concierge service at the BW? If so, have the staff place your MIL and her husband on your reservation for the day you visit. I think it will be an extra $25 per person charge, but that will give them each a key and access to the lounge with you. If they end up staying, they'll be able to grab a nice breakfast in the morning or even a glass of wine the night before.
Did you find some photos? This site has some nice ones and if you click the 360 degree view, there are a couple for the garden suite. http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/ASP/costcalc.asp?resId=BWI&pageFunction=researcher.

Question for those of you who have stayed in a Garden Suite?
Did you arrive early on your first day and if so, were you able to get into your room right away? DH and I will be landing at MCO at 10:00 am and we are going to pick up the car and head straight to the resort. How likely do you think it is that we will be able to get into our room at 11:00 am? Anyone have experience with this?
TIA!

Have you spoken with your pre-planners yet? You definitely want to mention to them that you'll be arriving early. Sometimes this can make a difference, but it really all depends on whether previous guest have asked for late departure, or just how booked up they are. I haven't stayed at the garden suites specifically, but out of all our concierge stays, we've only had to wait for our room once and we typically arrive around 11am.
In case you can't get into your room just yet, you will still have full access to the concierge lounge. It would be about snack time in the lounge, so they'll have some light food offerings and cold drinks. You'll already be checked-in, so you could even have room service deliver your lunch either in the lounge or poolside if you wanted.

I will mention it to the IPO staff. We will only be at WDW 7 total days including arrival and departure so we wanted to get started touring the parks right off the bat. We were just hoping that we would be able to get into our room when we arrived so that we could change after our looooooonnnnnng red-eye flight from California. A shower and change of clothes will go far in helping us to be revitalized (not that being at WDW won't do that in the first place!)
Thanks Tammie!

even if your room isn't ready, you can still "check-in" at the front desk, they'll give you your park passes and you can go on your way. They'll give you a card you can call and check to see if your room is ready.
We had a change of clothes in our carry on's and just checked out luggage with the valet until we came back later in the day. The only thing you won't be able to do is get that refreshing shower after being on the red-eye.

Hi everyone,
We are planning a trip to one of the Epcot resorts. The Boardwalk seems to be number one on my list right now. We will stay on the concierge level. We usuallly stay at the Polynesian concierge and love it. We just want to try something different this time. When staying concierge level at the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge the food offerings reflect the region the hotel is themed for. I am wondering what some of the offerings are at the Boardwalk. I've seen plenty of specifics on breakfast here but not the other hours. Could someone please list some of the food you have seen on your previous trips?

Hi Minnie,
If you are looking for the quantity and selection of evening offerings they give you at the Poly, you will be disappointed in the BW. The lounge is very small and the selections are basically your cheese and crackers and maybe one or 2 other small things. I definately did not notice anything that would want me to make a meal out of eating dinner there (like you can at the Poly).
However, I will tell you I was there in Nov 2003. They may have changed since then. However, their lounge is pretty small so I doubt it.
Good luck!

I don't think the lounge is small at all. The offerings are plentiful in the evening - at least one hot appetizer, tons of cheese and crackers (brie and other delicious variaties), vegetables and dip, fruit, wine, soft drinks, coffee, tea, pastries, cordials, etc. We've always thought the offerings were perfect - the food isn't intended to be a meal. There is plenty of spead-out seating in the lounge - couches, chairs, tables. Also, there's a great balcony.

We stayed at BWI end of April beginning of May.
The Inn side is closer to EPCOT, than it is to MGM. The Villas are on the MGM side.
Not sure of the Villa side, but on the Inn side, we had to walk almost back to the lobby to be able to get back on to the Boardwalk. As I understand it, they purposely built the resort that way, so that non-resort guests would not be wandering around the grounds. Which is just fine with us.
We found this resort to be very quiet - one afternoon at the quiet pool, there was no one else there but us.
The main boardwalk and main pool are more lively, and not quiet.
We loved this.

Yes, I believe your water view room will look out over the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. I think the water view would be very nice. I have always wanted to stay in one of the rooms overlooking the Boardwalk itself and watch the Friendship launches from my balcony.
The standard view we always get is of the lovely courtyard/gardens. There are flowering trees, and winding paths, and not much foot traffic. Very peaceful and beautiful view. If you are high enough you can see some of Epcot's fireworks. I guess you could get a standard view that faces the front of the resort, and I wouldn't like that view as much, but in the 5 times we have been there we have always gotten the courtyard/garden view as our standard.

I've read all 16 pages of this and my eyes are burning so maybe I've passed over the answer to my question :)
The concierge deluxe rooms, do all of them have queen beds or is there one with a king? I don't mind either but I'd prefer a King since I stretch out something fierce and flop around a lot :rotfl: If they don't I guess I can deal with a Queen, I'll have my best friend with me anyway.
And the deluxe rooms are the only concierge rooms with a BW view correct?

The deluxe rooms are NOT the only concierge rooms with a BW view. There are only 3 deluxe rooms on the 4th floor and 3 on the 3rd floor. I have had the non deluxe rooms as a BW view also. The deluxe rooms I have had only had queen beds. These rooms are larger than the standard room with a sitting area, 2 tvs and a queen size sleep sofa. Either way you will not be disappointed. This is my favorite place to stay.

You will need a garden view room. I had room # 4232 one time and it was just perfect. Right around the corner from the lounge and great view too. The fireworks from Illuminations can also be seen from the balconies of the lounge.

I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but I can't seem to search right now.
I just saw some pictures of the garden villas (?) at The BWI. They look amazing! What is the rack rate in value season for these? The Yacht/Beach Club resorts don't really appeal to us, but we would love to try the EPCOTa resort area sometime. The Boardwalk Inn seems perfect :cheer2:

The Grand Villas are the DVC. I'm not sure how difficult it is to book one of these styles if you're not a DVC member. According to the allearsnet.com website, value season rack rates for 2005 are $1395. The Disboards DVC forum might give you some better information.

Hi Tammi
It was definitely at the Boardwalk Inn. I am quite sure they were simply called "Garden Villas" - they had private little gardens out the front.
Thanks for your help. :flower:

Okay, it's the Garden Suites that you want. This is from Allearsnet:
2005 value season rack rate is $560 per night. These rooms also include concierge service.

Thanks, Tammi! I just checked out "allearsnet" and saw the photographs. The suite (not villa, sorry!) looks wonderful. I guess it would be no good for us, though, as we are a family of five. Maybe just DH and I can make a trip sometime....those suites look so romantic!
The Boardwalk Inn is definitely the next resort I would like to experience. Those deluxe concierge rooms look incredible!

Thank you for the reply KerryCM! I don't think I need all that extra room so when I book (soon sooon) I'll just ask for a plain concierge room with a BW view. My friends are griping because they think the BWI looks "grandfatherish" but I think its divine looking. Even though I live only 30 mintues from Coney Island it'll be nice to visit a boardwalk that hasn't fallen into a bit of disrepair and has that special disney touch!
Plus I can stay cheaper AND do concierge here as oppossed to staying at the GF (which I will do one day, just not right now) which is a bit out of my budget anyway. Definitely hoping that the concierge department can help make my birthday as magical as can be! Thanks again princess:
