I'll start off by introducing you to the cast of characters.

I'm Ashley, AKA Momma. I'm 26 and currently working part time at a daycare down the road. Up until 5 weeks ago, I had not worked a day since February 2003, right after I found out I was pregnant with DD #1. I loved being a stay at home mom, but finally decided it would be best for everyone, both emotionally and financially, if we all got out of the house a few days a a week, interacted with others our age and made a few bucks to show for it.

I went on my first WDW vacation when I was 5. That was just the start of an obsession. We went again when I was 10, 15, 17, Most recently, after 9 long years of no Disney, we finally were able to scrounge up the money and go on "our" first vacation. It was just my husband and DD #1 and I. We loved celebrating Ireland's 6th birthday (with free dining no less) in such a magical place.

Here is a picture of Ireland and I. (Thanks to my wonderful Mom for the awesome Snow White custom! We had an outfit for everyday. Unfortunately, there will be none of that this trip. She doesn't have enough time and I don't have enough money. Clearance Disney store shirts it is!!)

Who can tell me where this picture was taken? Anyone?!?

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/658306628_t8CpH-M.jpg

Next is my husband of 7 years, (we will celebrate #8 during this trip!) Shawn AKA Daddy. We met on the internet back in October 2001. We were married by January 2002! He's 31 and an over the road truck driver. He's gone most of the time. We are fortunate that he gets to come home most weekends, but for a trucker, a weekend is generally around 36 hours, give or take a few. None of us really like living the trucker's (or trucker's family) life, but it pays the bills and puts food on the table. After a couple of rough years, numerous lay offs and job changes and 2 rounds of unemployment, one lasting 6 months, we're just grateful he has a job.

Shawn's only been to WDW once. He always wanted to go as a child, but his parents always planned vacations they wanted (which normally revolved around French/Indian war encampments they partcipated in) without regard to any input from Shawn. His first trip was just a few months ago! He loved it and was planning our next one before we even left! Disney sucked him right in!!! I almost forgot, as an only child with older parents, DH often found ways to occupy himself. One such was teaching himself how to do the Goofy laugh. He still loves Goofy and still does the laugh. And yes, he had his picture taken with Goofy!!

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/653.jpg

Next there is Ireland. She's our 6 year old. She's in kindy this year. (She was more than ready last year, but missed the birthday cut off by 13 crummy days.) She's never met a stranger...ever. She's super smart, outgoing, a great big sister and a wonderful daughter. She loves Hannah Montana and all things princess, but her favorite is Aurora. Ariel comes in a close second. She alos loves Mary Poppins.

Ireland's first trip was just a few months ago. She had been wanting to go for several years and we had been trying (Heck, we had been trying since a few months after we got married, but the money was just never there.) without any luck. Then after my brother and SIL went on there honeymoon to WDW in May, it's all she talked about. In turn, it became all I talked about. Finally, after many failed attempts, we made it happen! Ireland loved celebrating her 6th birthday at Disney. (Technically we were there a month before her birthday, but she didn't care.) Free dining made it that much better. Her favorite meal, hands down, was eating with the princesses in Norway. Runner up for best character meal was 1900 Park Fare.

My princess with "the" princess!!

And just because I love this picture....even a princess needs her beauty sleep!

Now to Sloan, but more often than not, he is referred to as Sloaner. He's our wish kid. Sloan is 3 and is the sweetest most loving child you will ever meet. He has a very sensitive side as well. The best part about Sloan is that he almost always has a smile on his face and everyone he runs into comments on that. I'll get into why he was granted a Wish later on so stay tuned.

Sloan has never been to Disney World. We decided to leave the 2 youngest behind when we went in September. We wanted to make this trip all about Ireland. With the kids being so close together (At one time, I had 3 kids 3 1/2 and under.) she really doesn't remember it being just us. She doesn't remember all the one on one time I spent with her, the things we did, places we went, etc. I wanted her to get to experience that again. This was her trip. We were also afraid of how well Sloan would be ableto handle everything. Again, I'll share more about that later. But, back on track now, Sloan hasn't ever been, but loves all things Disney. Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Handy Manny, Cars, Toy Story, Finding Nemo...you name it! He's been talking about Disney World a lot lately (Normally I would say the WDW commercials are evil, but in this case...Thanks Disney!!!) I really didn't think he would use his wish on a trip there though. I hoped he would, but was thinking he would want something more along the lines of a toy or something. Especially since he's been scoping out a few things in the Christmas Wish Book lately. Imagine my shock when he said he wanted to go to Disney World! Besides Disney, he also has a huge interest in fire trucks. I would love to incorporate the Main Street Fire Department fire truck into his wish somehow, but I'm not sure how possible that is.

Here are a couple of pictures of Sloan from my brother and SIL's wedding. I'll post more when I tell you all about him later.

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2070.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2284.jpg

Last but not least is Cambell. She was quite the suprise  coming along just 372 days after Sloan, but we can't imagine our lives without her. She was the best baby ever (I always commented that she had no choice!) and to this day is such a wonderful child. She's 2 and has the best personality. She can be so funny at times, but other times soooo serious, just to crack up a minute later. She loves her Ireland and Sloan to pieces and wants to do everything they do. Cambell doesn't really have a favorite character. She seems to love all things Disney. She knows the theme songs to pretty much every Playhouse Disney show even though she has speech/language delays as well as a couple of other developmental delays. She wakes up every morning asking to watch Handy Manny or Mickey Mouse.

Just like Sloan, this will be Cambell's first trip as well. I'm a bit worried about how things will go during the week with her (she asks to take a nap everyday...same goes for bedtime...sometimes as early as 6 or 6:30) but we will make it work.

Here are a couple of pictures of our sweet baby girl! (also from brother's wedding) These just give you a glimpse to her serious as well as funny side.

Here are a few more random pics I thought I would share.

Here is a very sweet moment that I was very thankful my cousin was able to capture.

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2044-1.jpg

I missed most of this as I was inside helping with my niece, but apparantly Shawn had to go take pictures with the wedding party. Sloan was upset that he couldn't go with his Daddy.

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2047.jpg

Ireland, being the great big sister that she is ran to the rescuse. I can so here her now..."It's okay, buddy."

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2048.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2049.jpg

She proceeded to pick him up (Keep in mind at the time he weighed only about 6 -8 pounds less than she did!) and carry him to Daddy.

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m304/ashley_lynden/IMG_2045-1.jpg

Go ahead...I know you want to....AWWWW!!!!!

It's past my bedtime so I'm going to wrap this up. I'll try to move on to more about Sloan and what lead up to him being granted his dream very soon so stay tuned.

So I left off with the cast of characters. Now for the details...

After submitting our application to the Dream Factory I asked Sloan if he could get anything, go anywhere, do anything, what would he want. He told me he wanted to "go to Disney World and see Mickey and Goofy. Goofy's going to give me a kiss." So when the Dream Factory volunteer came over (just a short 2 weeks from when I submitted the app) and asked him what he wanted, he told her he wanted to go to Disney World. She immediately started telling us what all would be available to him. She left some papers for us to sign and told us to come up with some dates. A week later I got the papers to her and called her with out dates. Only a week later (last week) she called me to let me know everything was booked. We will stay in a hotel in Nashville the night before we fly out. Our flight leaves at 8 am on January 23rd. We'll get a rental car when we arrive in Orlando where we will be staying at Give Kids the World. We'll be there for 6 days and 7 nights. We know we're for sure using the 3 day park hopper to Disney as well as the Sea World ticket. We're not sure about Universal at this point. We'll figure that out later on. We're super excited and can't wait. Everytime we watch a Disney movie and Sloan sees the fireworks over the castle in the begining he starts screaming "I want to go there! I want to go there!" I think we're going to make a countdown chain this weekend so he can have a visual of how far away our trip is.

Coming up next...What led up to Sloan's wish trip...

I hear you on the job thing. It took DH 8 years of marriage before he found his dream job, which thankfully also pays the bills. We feel very grateful in this economy that his is secure and we are doing okay. Even with long hours and less family time, it all works out in the end.

And I agree, total AWWWWW moment. :cloud9:

I can't believe how fast they set this up for you! At least you don't have to wait long!

Your kids are so cute! I think the third child is the charm. Hayley is my youngest and she is just happy to be alive. We just came back from our Wish trip and Hayley would just sleep in the stroller if she got tired. Kids are pretty resilient. I think you will have a wonderful time with low crowd levels. I can't wait to hear how the planning goes! :wizard:

Sorry I haven't posted anymore. It's been one thing after another between problems with Sloan's school, illnesses, etc I haven't had much time to get on here. At one point I had typed out a big long intro about Sloan and what led up to our trip...and my computer froze and I lost it all. :headache:

Anyway, I just wanted to update that Sloan got an envelope in the mail from GKTW today! Things are starting to seem more real now. Only 3 1/2 weeks! :cool1: I'm excited and nervous but can't wait!

Alos, our going away party is going to be next Friday. There is another family heading to Disney so they are combining our parties. We're having pizza and there will be characters there. Things are happening so quick!

We're actually not planning much at all this time. We just went in September (only took oldest DD) and we had everything planned out. We ran ourselves ragged. This time we're going to go with the flow. Well, that could change when we find out how much spending money we're getting (a couple of table service meals would be nice--we got spoiled with free dining). We will see.

Finally, I have a chance to sit down and add some more to this. Between Christmas, bugs being passed around and working wuite a bit, I haven't had much chance for anything. I only work afternoons this week (3:30 until 5:30 or 6) so hopefully I will get some things done this week. Unfortunately, Sloan's home sick today. He's been running a fever all weekend. It got up to 104 Saturday night. Because of the fever, his blood sugars are awful. Hopefully he'll be over this in a couple of days and hopefully no one else will get it. This is the 2nd time he has had it in a month.

Anyway, on with our PTR. I left of with the cast of characters, but never got into why Sloan was granted a wish.

Sloan is our very planned for second child. His pregnancy was so different from my first. I first felt him move at around 10 weeks. By 12 he was full on kicking me. I went into pre-term labor at 31 weeks. After numerous days in the hospital and a couple different times on magensium, I opted to stop trying to prevent labor and was air lifted 4 hours away. Guess what...nothing ever happenend. I went home still pregnant 3 days later. Sloan decided, 3 weeks early, it was time to make his appearance, cord around his neck and all. He was 7 pounds 15 ounces. Those steroid shots didn't just help his lungs grow...he obviously did, too!

Besides some seriously bad reflux and getting rubes put in his ears at a year old, everything seemed prefect with him. I began to notice some delays when he was around 16 motnhs old, but brushed them off. I had him evaluated at 23 months finally. He had a severe speech delay so we started speech therapy. Within 6 months more things were noticed and he started occupational therapy as well. More and more delays and quirks were becoming apparant and when he was not quite 3 he was sent to for a full developmental evaluation. He was dignosed as DD-NOS (developmentally delayed-not otherwise specified). He also has some anxiety and a little OCD. He started preschool not long after, but we're still fighting to get him the therapy he needs. This summer we took him for private occupational therapy, just as our previous OT (through the states early intervention program) had though, Sloan also has sensory integration disorder.

Then, back in October, I started noticing Sloan was eating and drinking a lot. I chalked it up to a growth spurt, after all, he hadn't had one in a while. his "growth spurt" continued despite the fact that he was not growing. During fall break, things got out of control. He would eat all day long. He was up all night long. He would completely soak through his night time pull ups in 30 minutes. I washed so many sheets that week I had to start laying towels on his bed. Finally it clicked and I knew what was going on. I checked his blood sugar one night....the meter read "HI" and I figured it was off for whatever reason. The next morning I checked mine to make sure it was working right...it was. So I went in and checked Sloan's. At this point he had been fasting about 12 hours. His blood sugar was 368. I checked mine again. The meter was working fine. Crap! I called the doctors office and basically demanded an appoitment. We were in the office within the hour and as soon as he stepped on the scales I knew. He had lost 5 pounds in a month, despite the massive amounts of food he had been eating. His urine had sugar in it and he was starting to spill ketones. They drew blood for a hemaglobin A1c...his was 8.6 which meant his blood sugar average for the past 3 months was over 200.

After dirving nearly 4 hours to a not so nearby children's hospital, Sloan was admitted through the ER where he got his first insulin shot. We were told we were very lucky. Had we waited another 12 or so hours, Sloan would have been very sick. I'm so glad I trusted my gut.

He was moved upstairs to a room around midnight. Bright and early the next morning education started. We had a lot to learn. Since we picked up on everything so quick and Sloan was doing so well, we were released from the hospital that evening.

We ended up having a rough couple of weeks due to the type of insulin he was put on and we switched providers. He is now going to a wonderful children's diabetes clinic a little closer to home. (2 1/2 hours away instead of almost 4) Up until a couple of weeks ago, we had appoitments every 2 weeks. Most of it was education for me. Sloan's doing pretty well. His blood sugar is checked on average 4-6 times a day. (But when he is sick, like now, that can go up to 10-12 very easily.) He gets 4 shots of insulin a day, unless there is a party at school or he wants to eat a little extra at snack, then he gets an extra one. He is dealing with it all very well.

So, a week or so after we got home from the hospital, I was googling around looking up information about type 1 diabetes and other things. Somehow during that, I ended up reading something about Dream Factory and I ended up checking out their website. When I read that they grant wishes for kids who have chronic illnesses, I knew I had to nominate Sloan. He has so much stacked up against him, but yet ALWAYS has a smile on his face. He deals with everything so well and I wanted him be rewarded for that. Within a couple of weeks a volunteer was at the house asking Sloan what he wanted. He said, "I want to see Mickey and Goofy! Goofy's going to give me a kiss!" And with that, his wish was granted. The rest as they say...is history!

We've had our going away party and gotten all our confirmation numbers. We'll be getting our expense check in about a week. Now we're into the planning of it all. We be arriving at GKTW in exactly 12 days almost down to the exact hour! So far all I know is what day we're going to Epcot and Holywood Studios.

For now, I think I have it all planned out. Of course this is subject to change. We will be landing in Orlando around 11 am on Saturday. I figure by the time we get our luggage and our rental car it will be around 12:30 by the time we get to GKTW. More than likely though, we will stop at the giant McDonald's for lunch on the way there. So, more than likely arrive at GKTW around 1:30. I'm hoping they have an afternoon orientation that day. If so, we'll probably go to Downtown Disney that evening. If not, we'll take it easy and explore everything at the village and DH will take the kids to Mayor Clayon's birthday party that evening while I'm in orinetation. I'll be making a Wal-Mart run at some point or another that day also.

Sunday, the 24th, we'll get up and head to Epcot. There are only a handful of things we are going to do there so I figure we'll be out within 3 hours or so. We'll head back to the village for lunch. We might stop in for Twinkle Hope's Tea Party, too. (Has anyone went to this? How was it?) Then it's off to Hollywood Studios for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Fantasmic is that night, so they are open later. We're not going to watch Fantasmic, but are going to take advantage of everyone else doing so while we keep on riding rides! Honestly, there are only a few things we are doing here as well, so we might be done before then, but just in case.... If we do get done early on, back the the village for dinner and off to Downtown Disney it is.

Monday we'll go see the Disney characters bright and early there at the village. I'm thinking we will go to Sea World that day. I want the kids to see the Discovery Cove animal thing that evening and going to Sea World that day will be our best shot at that. If we get any down time, we'll probably run over to Downtown Disney for a bit. (See a theme here? Obviously we won't go to DTD every night, but hopefully we will get there at least once. I figure if I schedule it in 3 or 4 times surely we will make it one of those times!)

Tuesday is DH and I's 8th anniversary! What better place to spend it at than Magic Kingdom! We're going to probably see the Nick characters that morning at GKTW and then head over to MK where we will stay, I'm sure until close. I forsee a trip to the lounge for a little rest (unless Cambell will sleep in the stroller) but other than that it will be a long day.

Wednesday we're going to go to Animal Kingdon. I figure we will be there most of the day. Depending on when we get out of there, we might go back to village to grab a bite to eat. Then it's off to Magic Kingdom for Spectro and Wishes.

Thursday will be our last full day. We will go to Universal/IOA. There isn't a ton we are going to do there so I'm hoping to make it back to the village for all the Christmas happenings that evening. I'll be up late that night packing.

Friday morning we'll be up and exploring the village one last time. After an early lunch we'll head back to the airport. Our flight leaves at 3:15.

I would love to be at Magic Kingdom our last day there, but then we wouldn't be able to be there for our anniversary. The only other way was if we swapped Sunday with Thursday and had time left after Hollywood Studios to head over to Magic Kingdom and watch the fireworks one last time. Ahhh...I don't know. Help...please!!

I don't want our days to be too structured. I just want to kind of have a plan, but nothing set in stone. We were there during free dining when we took Ireland and we spent half our time running from one place to the next. We want this trip to be relaxed, but still be able to get what we want done. I have a list of our must do attractions and then our if we have time attractions. Maybe if I shared that it would help more?

Ashley, I think your schedule looks great! I wouldn't swap Sun for Thurs..from what I've read the Christmas party at GKTW is absolutely spectacular and not to be missed. If anything I'd swap Wed and Thurs..AK closes at 5 pm anyway, so you'd get back to the village in plenty of time, then if you wanted to duck out of the party you could go hit the fireworks at MK. I don't know if Spectro also plays on Wed though. Isn't it fun figuring all this out? LOL. You're probably best off leaving things the way they are. I have read you can see the fireworks from the beach at Poly..that may be a way to see them Thurs night without needing to get into a park? Maybe Maroo will chime in when she gets home!

Sounds good to me. I'm obsessing over details that probably won't make too much impact. Like EMH, and fireworks, and crowd levels. I still have three months, so I guess I have time to worry. :lmao: How fun to celebrate your anniversary there. Make sure you put it on your reservation.

I've been pondering on how to safely take our stroller with us. A bag it will fit in would be $30 so we're trying to avoid that. I read something on another thread where she wrapped the handles in bubble wrap and then packing tape. I was thinking of doing that on the handles and wheels and then maybe putting it in a trash bag to protect the fabric as well. (We will be gate checking it.) Do you think that would work? If not, do you have any other suggestions. We have a Maclaren double stroller. We got a great deal on it so didn't pay retail for it, but we don't want to have to buy another one either.

Hi Ashley!!

Your itinerary looks great!!! :goodvibes You must be so excited its almost here!!!:cool1:

We gate checked Brigitte's Wheelchair Stroller the last time we went and had some minor issues with it. From all the bumping around in the belly of the plane, some of the screws in her footplates came loose. We were able to fix it, but my husband is going to pack a screwdriver this time just in case. I did make it a point to tell the people at the counter that it was a VERY expensive stroller and would be pretty upset if anything had happened to it (we just had gotten in the week prior). The were able to tag it with a special card and also had me fill out an "insurance" tag that was on it explaining the condition it was in etc when they took it from us just in case. I am a little nervous again this time taking it, but she LOVES her chair....I have also thought about renting one when we are down there. I don't know the name off the top of my head, but there is a place that rents special needs strollers. I am sure someone will chime in with the name. Just another option for you!!!

Can't wait to hear how your trip goes!! Have a BLAST!!!!

We have gate-checked strollers and the wheelchair many, many times and never had anything significant happen to it. I'd say "anything" happen to it, but I don't remember, so maybe there was a scratch or something came off that could go back on, I don't know. It certainly could happen though. Will you be using the stroller in the airport and then fold it up at the gate? I guess if you're early enough to bubble wrap it, etc, then you could try it. Might want to stick with clear so that the employees don't get nervous when you hand them a big trashbag to go under the plane!
I have heard Orlando Stroller Rentals is good and delivers. I believe they have the wheelchair style stroller as well as others.

We gate checked our double stroller each leg of our flight and it did not have any problems. The only problem we encountered is that the lack of air pressure under the plane deflated our tires a little as it is a jogging stroller and the tires use air. Disney let us use one of their air pumps and we were back up and running. Good luck with your decision on what to do with the stroller. :wizard:

Gah!!! :confused3 I don't know what I am going to do about the stroller situation. I asked some moms on another board I am on and no one really thought it was a good idea or even that it would work. It seems what usually gets messed up is the anwning thing and the fabric. I really really don't want anything on it to get messed up. We've really got to have a stroller to get through the airport though. If we didn't have to have it at the airport I would just rent one when we get there so we were not risking anything. I can't imagine getting a 2 and 3 year old through the airport when our hands are full of bags and a 6 year olds hand though. Fun fun....

Think I could just use the bubble wrap on the kids? Maybe one of those luggage carts would be near by...

Speaking of luggage carts...

When we land in Orlando, will there be luggage carts available when we get off the plane? I know we will have a long walk including riding over to the other side. We will be hauling 2 large car seats so we will have to have one. No way can we get them through the airport without one.

If there is one there, we could probably just rent 2 and put the kids on one (minus the bubble wrap I joked about of course ;) ) and the carseats and bags on another. Hmmmm....

I tell you...I'm going to need some strong drugs to make it through the airport. I'm honestly dreading it. I so wish we had someone else going with us. We (the adults) are out numbered and in a place that big and busy that is sooo not a good thing.

You will have to get your stuff from the airport gate to the "monorail" that they have in the Orlando airport.

Once you get off the monorail and out of the secure area - there should be a GKTW Greeter there to greet you.

And they will be a great help in getting your luggage and helping you corral the kids. :) They will help take care of ya once you get to the public area.

The Orlando is not terribly big...It isn't like Atlanta or any of the huge ones. If you are concerned about the crowds...you might want to hang back a bit after the plane lands and let the plane full of people get ahead and then walk - you should be fine getting off.

Don't worry too much. I found that most of the things I worried most about were fine. :)

Are you serious? If that's the case, we're in trouble. There is no way! It was going to take all of our hands to get the kids and everything through the airport with a luggage cart. It won't happen without one. We will have a double stroller with the kids in it, 2 Britax Marathon car seats (those things are heavy and bulky) and a several carry on bags. No way can we manage that without a a cart. Oh gosh I need to go to the doctor and get some drugs. This whole airport deal is going to put me over the edge. :guilty:

Maybe I missed something. Are you checking your car seats or bringing them on board so the kids can use them on the plane? We checked our two car seats because I don't mind having the kids in a regular seat on the plane (even when we flew when Matty was 2 we didn't bring the seat on the plane) but I know everyone is different re: that matter. Going from the plane to the luggage carousel (sp?) you are going to be on your own I think. The carts aren't available until you get to baggage claim. Could be tricky. I'd call the airline and see what they would recommend.

We are not checking the seats, we are using them on the plane. I've talked to a car seat tech who in no way recomended checking them.

Well, after finding out less characters are out at DHS on Fantasmic days, it looks like I'm going to be changing our schedule around a bit. I'm not sure how yet. I'm hoping to work on that sometime today. But first, I have to go shopping. DH's not too happy that I'm running off today when he's only home until morning, but it's really my last day I can get anything done (errands wise) so he'll get over it. ;)

On another topic...my brother called me last night and told me I wasn't going to be happy and then proceeded to tell me to go to the WDW info website. (He checks it like the news! :rotfl: We're a Disney loving family, what can I say!) He was right, I'm not very happy. That stupid stupid crane is going to mess up our castle pics next week. :sad2: Even if the crane is down by then, the scrim will be up. :sad1: Then all the water ways are drained, too. If you've seen the pictures posted, it looks pretty crummy and sad. Great... I know we will still have a great trip, but it's still sad to me.

What is the crane up for? Any idea when it will be down? Is there any way to get creative with the pictures in an effort to leave the crane/scrim out? Like shooting from a different angle or something? I hope you'll find a way around it. I would be disappointed, too. I think I'm going to want our castle pictures at all costs.

Really? Why? IDK our car seats are pretty basic; no frills, I can't imagine they could treat them any worse than my children do on a regular basis:rotfl: So would that car seat tech recommend that people always bring their car seats ON the plane? YIKES that starts to become a logistical nightmare for a larger family.

We have also had screws and bolts come loose on DD's wheelchair. We check it before getting on the plane and again after we get off. We travel with a tool kit including allen wrenches, screwdrivers, etc to fix the chair. We packed it in our checked luggage until our tool kit got stolen once:eek:
Now we bring it in carry on. The TSA people are fine with it once they see we have the wheelchair that goes along with the tool kit.

Click on the link in my signature to get to the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Post #2 of that thread has information and links about renting special needs strollers. Just scroll on down past the wheelchair and ECv stuff.

If you need air in your tires, they can lend you a pump where bikes are rented at the resorts. Not sure if they have them at the wheelchair/stroller renting area because I think all of the park rental ones have solid tires.

If they were to toss them into the plane of if they shifted around a lot during the flight, landing, etc (which both are quite possible) then it would be the same as if they were involved in a wreck. I'm not willing to take that risk. There are so many different things that can compromise the integrity of a car seat. Yes, she recomends everyone take their car seat on the plane and not to check it. She even recomended a backless booster for my oldest DD for the week instead of using a high back and having to check it. (we can put a backless in the overhead compartment) Normally at DD's age and size, she would need to be in a high back, but in this case, the benefits out weighed the risks.

Okay, so I'm trying to figrue out what we're doing when since I've got to swap a few things up. I'm trying to decide what to do Sunday, US/IOA or Sea World. I really want to head back to GKTW for Twinkle Hopes Tea Party and then will head back out after that. I'm not sure that's going to work out though. The tea party is 2-3. Both places close at 6 that day so by the time we got back (probably about 4 after we parked and got in) we would only have 2 hours left.

I don't know which park would be better for this. At Sea World, I'm sure we will do several shows and walk around and see all the animals. We won't be riding any rides though. At US we'll probably just be doing the place places and seeing characters. We'll ride a few rides (ones for the younger kids) but probably none of the others. I'm not sure which one we will spend less time at...which one we would be okay leaving for several hours. :confused3

Opinions please...

Okay, for the car seats and carry-ons, etc. they have luggage carts that fold up and won't be a hassle when not in use. Google this and take a look:
luggage cart with wheels
WalMart has a cheap option that will probably help save your sanity. You could easily put two carseats (arranged creatively - one upside down and backwards) on that, or all your carryons. I don't own one but have borrowed my sister's and it really can hold alot. The airport is always stressful for me too but it will fade away when you have arrived. Don't worry.

For the tea party, I've been contemplating the same thing. Since there is not much available to read about it, I'm guessing my kids would like it and would like to try to attend. I was thinking perhaps Sea World for us, because it is closer to GKTW than Universal. I'm guessing it's also less crowded and from what I've read it's a LONG walk from the parking to get inside of Universal so that would take up time as well. There is a sit-down aquarium restaurant at SW (can't remember the name) that takes reservations when you arrive. I wonder if they continue serving after the park closes. That would give you more time at the park and not feel like you came back for no reason.

Hmm....not sure on this either.

Are you doing either park already? Is this your "second" day at either park?

Sea World may be good...because you can *hopefully* feed the dolphins (which is a great experience) and possibly watch the big show "Believe" and maybe catch another favorite show in between.

I am not sure if they would have a late Believe show if they close so early?

But US/IOA would be an option, too...you have true front of the line passes there...so you will ride the rides VERY fast. So you can fit a lot in - in just a little bit of time. :)

We're not having second days anywhere, so nope.

I think the kids are going to walk aroudn and see all the animals at Sea World. We can spend a whole day at the St. Louis Zoo and still not have seen everything.

I guess maybe I should just go to US/IOA that day. We're not doing a lot of rides, more character meets and play places. I would probably be less disapointed if we didn't get everything done there since we're not really plannin on doing much of anything there.

Thanks Maroo!

We've got to be downstairs to catch our shuttle in 4 short hours. Our flight leaves in just 6 1/2.

Hope everyone has a great week! I know we will!!!

Oh yeah, please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers this week. We've been passing around some kind of bug for a little over a month now. I thought we were finally all over but Cambell's congested and coughing again. Sloan's started to get congested, too. I picked up some Mucinex last night. I hope it does the trick and we don't end up having to spend a 1/2 day in a walk in clinic.

Well we're back. For a bit there we thought we might be staying an extra day or so, but the snow storm got a late start. We ended up landing (to a skidding stop--poor Cambell, seat and all, flew into the seat in front of her)not too long after it started. Our normal 2 1/2 hour drive home ended up taking 5 hours. But, we're home now. We had a great week! GKTW is awesome! I'm going to on the look out for cheap air fare so I can take Sloan back for a day visit sometime within the next year. He was crying when we left wanting to ride the train again.

I'll update sometime in the future and add pictures, but for now, we're resting and unpacking.
