Hi, I'm trying to create something similar to Mickey's Grand Welcome Basket (http://www.ftdfloristsonline.com/waltdisneyworldflorist/pages/magicalwelcomes/display) that's more inline with our budget but I'm have a terrible time coming up with a design for Mickey's footprints. I'm planning on cutting them out of 8.5X11 yellow cardstock or craft foam. Do any of you wonderful designers have a footprint or could make one?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

What a fun idea. I hadn't seen those gifts yet...but wow...a $300 gift on top of hotel, flight, tickets, meals, bibbidi bobbidi boo make-over etc. I'm with you...I think you can recreate it for much less. I sure love the box, ribbon and gift tag on top! Any idea how they did the Tinkerbell...or will you attempt that part?
I made a bunch of things for a Mickey & the Gang Grand Welcome, Tink's Grand Welcome and Princesses Grand Welcome. You can find them in my 4shared file in the link in my signature, then look in the "Mickey's Gran Welcome" file. I made welcome letters, gift tags, banners, balloons, etc.

Thanks so much for these! I hadn't gotten as far as Tink, LOL. If anyone has any pictures of the actual welcome basket that would be so very helpful!
So far I have a 15'' Mickey, Minnie and Goofy, some balloons, a yellow plastic bucket with fabric Disney stickers on it filled with snacks and glow sticks and sourvenirs.
I also have 6'' cutout Mickey gloves and ears for the walls. I'm working on the shoes, a letter from Mickey and this welcome banner..
http://tv.disney.go.com/playhouse/grown-ups/celebrationcenter/decorations/mmch/index.html
My kids have seen me making the journals, passports, autograph books and shirts so I can't put them in there.
Any other suggestions would be welcome!

Where did you get the mickey gloves and ears for the wall?
Here is my attempt at Mickey's footprint...thanks to shadowryter's pic:

Go to Dollar Tree as everything is $1.00 and they have LOTS of disney items that you could buy to add to whatever you are going to put things in. You could spend $10.00 - $15.00 and get TONS of things. I like the idea of adding a photo album to the box...maybe you could put a disposable camera for the kids to take their own pics to put in the photo album. I also like that they had a disney frame on the nightstand with a special note from a character. Then you could put a family picture in the frame when you get home.
You could trim this out and put it on the wall..and put some gifts below it and sprinkle fairy dust on the gifts. Hobby Lobby has glitter in the arts and crafts section that is actually called fairy dust. It has round glitter and stars. Also, you might consider laminating it so that the wand doesn't get bent on the trip to Disney.
http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp232/jtanddolly/Requests/TinkShadow2-1.jpg
I added your idea to the "what do you make thread" and here is a note that I put on that thread...just in case you can use it with your surprise. I left space for you to insert a textbox with either your child(ren)'s name(s) or your family name. Mickey would say "Gosh Smith Family,":
http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp232/jtanddolly/Requests/MickeyWelcomeLetter.jpg
I wish I knew what was on the gift tag on the box...I would love to recreate it!

Wow, those are great! Thanks again.
These are the images I used. The Mickey head template is a full head (sorry not just ears)

This is the tub I had that I put a fabric Disney sticker (from Hobby Lobby) on the front. Sorry bad picture. The kids were still up when I went to dig it out of hiding.

This glove I printed regular and mirror image so it would look like two hands.

To save on yellow ink...here is one that you can print on yellow cardstock and then trim out. This uses very little ink!!!

that's awesome I was just going to say hand draw it ...thats what I did for my son's birthday...i Cut them out of yellow paper and reinforced it with more paper..and attached them to plant spikes and put them in the ground so it could look like Mickey walked to the back of the house...
sounds like you got it all worked out!!! how are you going to get into the room without all of them noticing...

I still wish I knew what was on their large gift tag on the Mickey present!!!
Anyways...here is an oversized gift tag if someone can use it for their surprise. I put a few friends and I...for those that are going to put Tink's shadow on the wall and sprinkle fairy dust:

Another idea for the Tink...you could print the Tink Shadow onto a window cling and hang it on the window when you get there. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it getting bent in transit. Plus this is a great idea if you have an inquisitive child who might try to figure out why Tink's shadow is on the wall but there is no Tink in the room. By putting her in the window, you can tell them that "Tink must be outside where we can't see her but close enough for her shadow to be on the window". Just a thought for the child that questions everything.
Also you could move it around throughout the day.

I am def going to get this together for our trip next week, but for space reasons I plan on using gift bags instead of the boxes(though I would love to use them).... for the welcome gift, I plan on uisng a red bag adding 2 white (or yellow)button shaped cutouts with a black band at top and yellow ribbon . I will do similar colors for the b day bags.... I found the neatest pens at the dollar store they look like mickeys gloves with one finger pointing they come in a package of two ( not sure it is even meant to be disney but looks like it could be) I will get glow necklaces etc to put in bag....loving this....:goodvibes

I have started on a MVMCP autograph book and have the mickey welcome bag done! I like how it turned out. :goodvibes will try to get a pic tonight but trying to keep it a surprise from everyone so that makes it hard. I used the hand/glove design as well as the foot prints.Laminated them. Used the tink silhouette design - found a tink night light at dollar store. I made the banner that says welcome will do bday one too! I have the tags done for the welcome bag along with a welcome letter and the birthday bags. I have a bday gift bags from mickey, minnie, goofy, pluto and donald. The tags I made for them have the specific character on each one with happy birthday dd. Thanks for all the wonderful designs and ideas!:goodvibes

Welcome!
We slipped in to leave you a welcome surprise
A “Glad You’re Here!” kind of prize.
So settle in and enjoy the goodies ????
Then come to the Parks – we’ll be waiting for you!
Mickey Mouse and The Gang!

Welcome!
We slipped in to leave you a welcome surprise
A “Glad You’re Here!” kind of prize.
So settle in (and enjoy the goodies too!)
Then come to the Parks – we’ll be waiting for you!
Mickey Mouse and The Gang!
For some reason they have "and enjoy the goodies too" in brackets
Now I just need to find a neat background for the gift tag.

I'm so excited about this thread!!! We are going to the Gaylord for Christmas Eve Eve so I am doing all of these things but instead of Mickey...it will be "The Grinch" because we will be doing "breakfast with the Grinch" and they have a special "Ice" exhibit with the Grinch.
I found Green Gift bags that are the perfect Grinch shade of green for all the kids gifts and big Green boxes at Wal-mart for my 3 year old's gifts that look like the ones used for Mickey's Grand Surprise...we have 4 families that will be going and a total of 7 kids. I also cut out grinch footprint stencils that I am going to sprinkle baking soda over to leave the Grinch's footprints all over the rooms along with "Welcome" notes on the doors.
Anyone know if there is Grinch stuff anywhere? I have purchased the Grinch movie, other Christmas type things and pajamas...but it would be fun to find some Grinch items to add to the boxes and bags.

Hi Dolly, I found the Welcome gifts at this neat blog... http://www.mommymusings.com/disney-resort-showcase-day-1/
It's from a mom who loves Disney and has some great experiences to share. It's worth checking out.
Here's some templates I made for balloons. I printed them on to bright card stock.

And here's Mickey Cub Scout I pieced together to try and update the out of date looking one I found by googling.
ETA: I'm using this guy one the kids' journal/activity pages not for the Grand Welcome.

I went to the Family Dollar store yesterday and they have cute Mickey, Minnie, Pooh,Tigger, etc. Disney stuffed characters for $5.00 that would be cute to add to the "welcome" surprise. They were probably about 8-10 inches tall....so they wouldn't take up tons of space in your luggage like the oversized ones do. They were posted in their weekly flyer...but if you can't find them make sure you ask. My store had them tucked away on a top shelf. I would have never seen them if one hadn't mysteriously fallen on the floor.

I am so excited about this thread as I have been planning to do something like this for my group of 12 going in the spring.
One of my big questions was what do I display it all in. I found something great the my local Disney store. It was a bad (think of all the eco friendly bags that all stores have now) for $2.50. They had Mickey, Minnie, a birthday bag and Tink I think. They are nice and compact for travel but will add a big splash of Disney to the "display."

I wonder if it could be found on-line? I totally just happened upon them by the checkout so sadly I don't remember if they have a "name" to search but I will check tonight and see if the tag says anything to help.
My initial idea was going to the craft store and buying canvas bags and then utilizing one of the amazing DISigners disign and ironing that onto the outside of the bag.

Dolly,
Definitely not cheap - But I saw some Grinch tins at Target with men's sleep shorts in them for $9.99. They were in the Men's department. The tins are of the Grinch's head and are shaped that way.

Right now is a GREAT time to find Christmas things on the Disney Website Store that you can use for your next trip in December...they have some things up to 70% off and if you purchase $89 worth of merchandise, shipping is $5.00. They have Disney Christmas stockings for $5.99 that were regularly $24.50, lots of t-shirts, sweatshirts, some ornaments, stuffed animals (there was a really cute Christmas Dumbo that was super cheap) etc.
Here is a link:
http://www.disneystore.com/sale/holiday/holiday-decor/holiday-ornaments/c/309605/
I loved the small Christmas tree that we had in our room. If you can find a way to take one or mail one in advance to your hotel/condo with a wreath...it is fun to decorate your door and room to make it look Christmasy and festive. You can get fake christmas trees half off right now at stores. If you can find one for around $10-20 and mail it to your hotel...you might not care about leaving it behind. And if you do...maybe a mousekeeper can enjoy it in their home, so make sure you leave it behind with a note. If stores are already sold out...get one at Michaels with a 50% off coupon when it gets closer to Christmas or Hobby Lobby when they are one of their weekly sale items.
I love the idea of blankets. In the "Mickey Grand Welcome" they embroider a blanket with your family name, WDW and date (there is a picture of it on the website link in the first post). It isn't very expensive to embroider names and dates to things so be on the look out for blankets that you can do this to, or if you find a Disney theme fleece...you can make a no sew fleece blanket. You can google online for directions. These are super easy to make! Here is one website with instructions: http://www.exploringwomanhood.com/homelife/ideas/pom-jan03.htm
Take some time to look through the current pages on the Creative DISigns Forum and save the links to the Christmas threads so that you can find them when you need Christmas images, t-shirts, welcome signs, etc.
Also, look at Dollar Stores and see what Disney things they may have in the after Christmas sales to put in Disney stockings. Or even the regular sale price as they tend to have more Disney things around Christmas (the Dollar Tree always has lots of Disney things). Some things to look for that you can add to their boxes/bags/stockings are disney puzzles, coloring books, crayons, frisbees, pencils, pens, magnets...the list is long especially around Christmas. They even had great Disney stuffed animals. You might also look in Christmas sale items at Wal-mart, Target, etc. to see if you can find Disney stockings on sale...go today!!!
Hopefully that will get you started.

One more tip for doing this...
The only hard thing to making this happen is getting into the room before your family does and making sure that they don't see what you made before you leave it. Have a plan with the adults that you are traveling with before you get there so that you can maybe let your husband or other adults go roam the hotel with the kids and you can check in and use the bell hop to get all of the luggage and goodies up to the room. You will need around 20-30 minutes (at least) to check in and get the room decorated. If you are smart...have a hotel scavenger hunt ready to hand to the kids and they can work on that while you work on the room. Then when you are done give them a call on the cell and tell them they won't believe what is in the room and hurry to get there. If you mail the tree, decorations and wreath in advance check with the concierge to see if they will set those up for you...you will have the pay them but it shouldn't be too much.
When I did something similar on a different trip...I couldn't get into all of the rooms before my group got there so I decorated after everyone checked in and while the kids were roaming the hotel doing a scavenger hunt. Don't feel like you have to decorate before they see the room...Mickey and the gang can come to the room at any time. This is also something you can do if someone is celebrating a birthday or anniversay while you are there...for the kids you can decorate after they fall asleep so that they will wake up to some Disney "magic".

Dolly, in your message above you indicated that it isn't very expensive to embroidery names/dates. Do you have any suggestions as to where to send items? I would love to do this and ideally I would really love to find some Disney beach towels cheap to get embroidered but I don't know who to send/take them to. Any suggestions?
Also, anyone know where to find Disney beach towels (at a good price)?
TIA,

Most local t-shirt shops also have embroider machines to personalize things like shirts, christmas stockings, baby gifts, etc. Both the local t-shirt shops where I live (which is a small town of 5000) have machines to embroider things. You can also look in your yellow pages as sometimes stay at home moms have machines and make money on the side by personalizing things for others. Typically it is around $5-12 to have a name embroidered on an item depending on the size. You might also check with the closest sewing store to you to see if they know who might be able to help you embroider something. You can send it somewhere but I would suggest getting it done locally so you aren't having to add to the cost by paying for shipping.

Dolly,
I would like to use this tag on my son's gift box in the room. I would really like to have Minnie leave something for my daughter. Would you be able to make a tag something like this from Minnie?
My mind is racing with ideas of what I can do like this next December. I love your idea of getting a small Christmas tree. I plan to place a small wrapped gift under the tree each day for my kids to open.

I also need to come up with a Donald, Pluto and Goofy...I wish I knew what the ones looked like and said that FTD does for the birthday surprise. Here is the Minnie...I used "Well Hello" instead of "Welcome" because that is one of Minnie's favorite sayings.

Dolly, I am having a problem I can't seem to figure out. When I go to save the yellow tag from Mickey and the white foot print, I don't get the whole image. I only have a really small strip of it. I just saved the new Minnie tag you made and it worked just fine. I'm not doing anything different than I have ever done when saving things. Do you have any idea of how I can fix this?

I'm not sure why that is happening. I saved the white footprint to my pictures and I copy and pasted it into word and it worked fine. I'm uploading all of the images to my 4shared file to a file called "Mickey's Grand Welcome". Once they are uploaded you should be able to get them from there and hopefully you won't have the same problem.

I made some fun 3-d balloons so that you can make a balloon bouquet on the wall of your hotel room/condo or on the door to your room like they had in the picture of "Mickey's Grand Welcome". If you don't want to waste that much ink I have white with black outlines that you can print on colored paper and use very little ink.
To make these...trim them out, add curling ribbon to each balloon and gather the ribbons together at the bottom like a real balloon bouquet. Then hang on a wall or door. JKuglin made one and posted a picture in one of the earlier pages on this thread if you need an idea for how to make this. There is also one on the Disney website with pictures showing how they decorate for "Mickey's Grand Welcome". To jazz these up, you could add each families members name on a different color balloon.
Here are a few examples but you can find all the colors of the rainbow and the outlines in my 4shared file in the link in my siganture. Look in the "Mickey's Grand Welcome" file.

Anyway, I have a design question for you. I love the Mickey Balloons but how in the world do you get the 3D/Beveled edge sort of effect to your designs? I was wanting to create something else and can't seem to figure this out.

I make my DISigns using photoshop elements. To give the balloons the 3D effect...I created the balloon (making sure that it is all one layer) and the color I wanted it to be (like blue). Then go to "layer styles" and "glass buttons" and click on the "translucent glass" button so that your color will still be the same but it will give it a 3-d effect.
You can also play around with the "wow plastic" in the "layer styles". When I do that...I generally copy the layer and in the copied layer I use the "wow plastic clear" button.
Have fun playing with it and try different things.

My latest idea...I wanted to try to replicate the "celebrate" banner from Post #23
Here is what it should look like when you put it all together...I also have a "happy birthday", "welcome", "happy anniversary", "bon voyage" and "welcome aboard" banners in my 4shared file::
http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp232/jtanddolly/Requests/CelebrateExample.jpg
Here are the two pages. I made two because I thought it should be bigger than just 8.5x11, and the only way to do that is to layer things on it to somewhat stretch it out. They are both 8.5 x 11, save them to your pictures (do not copy and paste into word as it will distort), then print at full size...there is enough white space around the edges it shoud print with no problems. Take make: print, cut out each individual piece and assemble. You could even use pop dots on the hands to give it a 3-d effect.

I haven't made any "Welcome Signs" for Disney because there are lots of great ones already out there. Natalie has tons that you can add your name to in her 4shared file for WDW or specific resorts. Look in her "Invitations for Personalization" then there are two files where you can find them...either "Welcome to Disney" or "Resort Welcomes". Also look in her "pre-DISigned Invitations...no personalization" file. If you don't find what you are looking for let me know...but I 99.999999999% guarantee you will. This is absolutely wonderful and amazing! I am so doing this for our upcoming trip. I am going to do Mickey welcome for my son and it's my Mother's Bday while we are there so I am going to do Minnie for her.
I was wondering if you would help me out with something for it...
I noticied in your Banner letters that you can spell out welcome or happy birthday but I want to do their name's could you make a G and an N for the banners and could you also do a banner triangle that has Minnie mouse on it like the one you have with just Mickey so I can do Mickey on one side and Minnie on the other end of the banner?
Thanks so much. I will subscribe to this thread so I can keep up with all that you add...this is magnificent!

Just heard about a new product (at least for me) it is called "dorm" tape and is supposed to be great for hanging things like the balloons and celebrate banner that I made on walls so that you can easily remove the tape when you leave. You can also find "poster strips" from 3M.
Also look for 3M products with "command strips" like hooks to hang things...for example, stockings if you are going around Christmas. They are supposed to stick and hold to walls. Then when you leave you pull the "strip" off and the hook comes down easily without ruining the walls or paint.

Not sure what you are wanting...but if it is tags for gifts...look at padisneyfour's bags as she made tags that turned out super cute and are easy to make yourself. Open up a word document (or whatever you use). Then insert a picture that you find online by googling their name and add whatever word or saying you want on the tag. Then print and cut out in a tag shape and use a paper hole punch to make a place to slide your ribbon through. I use MS Word all the time to make quick tags for birthday party gifts. The shape for tags is pretty easy to free hand as it is just a rectangle with little triangles cut out of the top two sides to add some interest. If you aren't good at free hand trimming. Print one of the tags on this thread and use it for a template.
If you have MS Word and need instructions for how to insert pictures and move them around on a page or set up text boxes...check out this thread:

I want to make my 2 nieces each a welcome basket, but would love it to be with a princess theme. Can you do some of these in a princess disign?
I know I am getting obsessed now!! I have a huge binder of planning finished and now I am looking for other disney project to keep me busy till May! :wizard:
I finally found a little inspiration to get the princess things completed. I made an individual banner, a letter and gift tag. If there is something else you wanted...just let me know. They are in my 4shared file and in the "Mickeys Grand Welcome" file. I also made a "princess proclamation" and ID.

Does anyone have any cute ideas for a Minnie footprint? I would like to do them from the door to the baskets for my girls from Minnie?
Thank you!!!

If anyone has any ideas or images, I could also just print them on red cardstock to save ink...just a thought...
Thanks!!

I made a blank one that you can print on colored paper and two colored ones. (Sometimes she wears red with polka dots and yellow shoes and other times she wears blue with pink shoes.) I made them different from Mickey's footprint because she wears heals. So you will have to have two cutouts for each shoe. For heals, there is always two prints for shoes. One for the front of the shoe and the other for the heal. Hope that makes sense and is what you are looking for. You can find them in my 4shared file in the link in my signature. Then look in the "mickey's grand welcome" file and "footprint" file.

Ok, One more question...sorry...
Under your shared drive and under Celebration Welcome Banner...do you think you could make one of the flags with Minnie instead of Mickey?
Thank you!!!! :goodvibes

No problem that was an easy add...I made it and put it in the Celebration Welcome Banner file. I also update the footprints a little bit. You might check to see if you like them better than the firsts ones. It isn't a very big change.

Just in case someone can use them...I made individual banners for Daisy, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto to go with the Mickey and Minnie banners that I already made. You can find them in the "Celebrate Welcome Banner" in the "Mickey's Grand Welcome" file.

Just a thought, I picked up some collabsible fabric boxes at the Dollar Tree that are green and blue and really cute. They are a little flimsy but for something like this would work great for a small basket type gift and would be easy to travel with (could be collapsed into a suitcase or bag).
Just an idea :)

Dolly! I just went on your Photobucket site to check out your princess grand welcome stuff and found your "princess proclamation" from 'Her Royal Highness' and downloaded that to use. But then I found the one from Fairy Godmother and after I had a seriously giggling fit decided to use that one instead! I love the idea of giving my 4 yo DD princess status that can be revoked by throwing a 'royal fit'!! OMG, that is so funny!!!
Do you think if you have time you can make a little ID card that matches that proclamation too? She's going to wear a lanyard with her ICE info and I've love to be able to laminate it & slip it in there with everything else and be able to pull it out in case of total meltdown - things like that work well with her. We're not going until August so I've got oodles of time yet. Thanks very much, especially for the laugh!

So glad that you liked it! I made a "pink" fairy godmother id just for you. You can find it in my 4shared with the rest of the "princess welcome" things. I hope it is what you were wanting.
What is ICE? Just curious.

ICE is In Case of Emergency. I've worked for the Department of Correction for the past 21 years and am waaayyy overcautious so both kids with have 3 different forms of ICE info on them: the lanyards for fun, dog tags on their shoes just in case the lanyard falls off (or otherwise disappears) and safety tattoos on them somewhere (just in case....)!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fairy godmother ID! It's fabulous! I can't wait put everything for this trip together. Again, thank you SOOOO much!

If it is my account you mentioned...hope you find some things you can use. There are "Grand Welcomes" within the "Mickey's Grand Welcome" file for the Princesses, Tinkerbell, Mickey and the Gang, and Chip 'n Dale.
A few other shared accounts that you should look in as they do a TON of great things are Bababear (Mel), Rustmanfan (Marion), Milliepie and Donatalie (Natalie). You can find links to their things in the "meet the DISigners" thread at the top of the forum. There are lots of other GREAT DISigners in the "meet the DISigners" thread as well. Those are just ones that do a lot of DISigning on the boards and have lots of things in their shared files.

For some reason all the linkto my 4shared is no longer working and I can't figure out the right link to share everything in my 4shared file. See if this link will work for just the Grand Welcome file:

Dolly,
Just read through this thread and I want to do this for my daughters when we go to Disney for their birthdays!!!! You are so creative.
Do you still have the files for the princesss stuff you put together? Also, with the 4shared, do we now have to join? I know you made some wonderful things for an ariel birthday I did and it was free at that time to access your 4shared files :confused3
Thanks so much!!!
