We are seriously thinking about upgrading from the basic DDP to the DxDDP for our trip in January. We were planning to pay OOP for CRT and had two more OOP meals planned. As I was looking at the numbers, the price difference for the week to upgrade, after taking into consideration the OOP costs, is only about $200. However, we aren't 100% on board with this idea yet and our final payment is due later this week. How close to our trip could we decide to upgrade from DDP to DxDDP. I think I recall that the rule for adding the regular DDP onto your reservation is 72 hours. Is it something like that for upgrading as well?

Thanks!

I believe it is 48 to 72 hours, but I really think the earliest the better. If you really want to change it, do it now before you forget!

72 hours. We did the same thing, were going back and forth on it, so I called Disney and asked them. We ended up doing the upgrade and made some more reservations for dinner shows. For that alone it was worth it to us :yay:

I'm holding out because I'm not 100% yet...just 90% or so. I would prefer to hold out on upgrading a little while longer since I'm pretty sure it would be a lot more difficult with Disney to downgrade!

It depends on the kind of reservation you have. No later than 72 hours from arrival for a package reservation, 48 hours for a DVC reservation.

On a package reservation, you must make all changes to your package no later than 72 hours from arrival, whether it is upgrading or downgrading, and if you downgrade within 45 days they will charge you a change fee.
