I'm thinking about staying in one of the Downtown Disney hotels to save a little money. The only problem is the transportation. If you are staying at one, how will you get to the race site? (Renting a car is out of the question for me.)

Two Options....

Walk to the Saratoga Springs Resort and catch the Marathon bus there. dependong on your hotel it's less than a mile each way.

Taxi. Fare should be less than $15 - You may be able to split with other runners.....

Could you consider renting a car just for race day? Depending on how long you are staying I could see not wanting a car for multiple days but having one just for the one day might work. If that is not an option I would go with the taxi. Before you decide on anything call the hotel and see if they are going to have a shuttle. If you haven't booked yet call all of the DTD area hotels. In other cities hotels often offer a shuttle on race days to try and coax the runners into staying there.

I stayed on-site both times I went so I never called around. It doesn't hurt to ask first.

Most definitely check with the front desk, though most off-site resorts would only run one or two vans (if they have them). Most of their shuttle work is contracted out so they usually do not operate a hotel shuttle any longer.

I think what’s missed here is that the Regal Sun, Hilton and Buena Vista Palace are just across the street from Saratoga. The Best Western is the greatest distance away along Hotel Plaza and it is just at a mile.

Also to clarify my thoughts… taxi to the start and walk over to the bus area after you finish and take the bus back to the hotel you are staying at. Their stop is off to the far right as you look at the Epcot entrance (past the monorail station). Though there are a few taxis standing at the finish area – usually.

The general public discounts for Disney rooms during January/February just came out.....you may be able to snag an inexpensive room on-property.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find any decent rates for Marathon weekend - I am starting to freak because here it is 39 days till the 1/2 and I don't have a room yet. I don't want to go off site - UGH why did Disney wait so long to release these discounts. Well besides they aren't giving discounts on the Fri and Sat nights of the marathon weekend.

Did you ask about ASMusic? I got an AP discount for marathon weekend yesterday - $64 Sat. night and $58 Sunday night.

I didn't call - I just looked it up. Sometimes its better online - sometimes it better to call. Guess that is what I will have to do when I get back from lunch. Thanks

I've been looking it up every morning and the only thing available during that time is Fort Wilderness. Maybe I should call and see if the answer is different...
