I'm not sure if this will work, but I got my inspiration from these boards so I wanted to post it in case it works...I used white t-shirts, cut 2 wave like patterns just an inch wide that run the width of the design, above the top wave I drew 3 Mickey swirls with the Tulip brand Fashion Art Resist (the problem is it says it resists dyes, not sure how it will respond to the Tulip Soft Fabric paint) and I'm letting it dry overnight, I'll paint three strips of colors above/middle/below the contact paper waves....I also wrote our date "2010" and "Med" for Mediterranean, it was just too long a word to write. I hope to use stencils and paint everyone's name above the Mickey swirls...I also bought permanent spray glitter paint...figuring I'll spray the 'waves' after the first round of paint dries...sounds complicated but it's really easy, hope it comes out...I'll post pics along the way!

Thanks to everyone for giving me the ideas!!

Step One: Used Fabric Art Resist (Tulip) to paint on the areas that I wanted to be 'white', also used contact paper to make the waves that will not be painted on.

Step Two: Used Fabric Soft paint

It'll take me 3 days to wait to wash it out and see if it works!

I want to spray the glitter in the 'wave' part, has anyone used the Permanent spray glitter?? Is it just glittery without a color? I may have to try on a blank shirt to see what happens! Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure about the glitter spray, but I anxious to see how your shirts turn out! Even if they don't turn out the way you hoped, at least you tried and had fun doing it. T-shirt creations are definitely a trial and error craft.:goodvibes

Great start! Looking forward to seeing finished pics. One tip: Take your time and be careful. I ironed on a transfer upside down last night. Ugh!

Ouch Kuglin!! I'd still wear it!! We like wearing mistakes in our family, we make it the 'honor' shirt, you have to earn the right to wear it! :)

I wash them tomorrow morning so that will be the clincher!! :)

Posting tomorrow, win lose or scrap!!

Well, it worked sort of....when you wash it the fabric resist kind of goos up off the shirt with the fabric paint on it...so I had to wash it twice and still use my fingernails to scrape the remaining off..but such is craft! :) I'm not recommending using this Fashion Art Resist with fabric paint but it should do a good job if you're using dyes! :)

Here's the finished product, probably still needs another washing, but that'll do, shirt, that'll do.
