We went to cruise around the Fort today and were shocked to see at least 50 RV and campers checking in at the same time. All six lanes open and very full.

The reason for this "backup" is hidden in the pic. There is a huge golf cart accident just past the check in booths that has ft wilderness drive temporarily closed to traffic . Fortunately no one was injured .

Holy guacamole!!! We've checked in on the Sunday after Thanksgiving a bunch of times (most recently '08) and never saw anything remotely like this.
Note to self - NEVER again. :headache:

We were there for a couple of hours and never saw a golf cart accident. We were just watching people check in for awhile.

Guys and Gals, I believe that was possibly a joke?popcorn::
I'm thinking backup due to a lot of Sunday arrivals, those having to take the weekend to drive down.
We'll see how it is next Saturday, I come rolling' in!:yay:Overnighting Friday night at O'leno State Park up in High Springs.
What we noticed, since we had a utility trailer parked in overflow parking, was that the overflow parking area was packed, and that motorhomes and trailers were hanging out into the aisles in their attempt to squish in there. When we were leaving on Saturday we were not able to get our 45' motorhome into the lot to hook up our trailer and we had to drag and push the trailer out by hand and hold up traffic on the exit road while we attached it. Everything seemed crazy busy to me starting on Friday. When we checked in the Saturday before Thanksgiving, it wasn't all that crowded in the check-in area - maybe 2 campers in front of us (only 2 lanes open) and no line inside the outpost. I thought the bigger crowds to check-in would be the weekend before T'giving, but I was obviously wrong.

In our experience that's pretty typical the Sunday after Thanksgiving as there is a mass exodus OUT and it takes Disney a while to get all the sites ready for people, so overflow stacks up early and well.
Seems to get worse every year. Last year we waited more than 3 hours for our site on that day (longest wait ever) - but then it wasn't helped by the fact that a downpour/storm rolled through early afternoon. We finally got our site around 3pm.
Luckily next year we're coming in a week before Thanksgiving week (whew)

1) Based upon the time and the day, this is not unusual.
2) At checkin / checkout crossover time, it frequently jams up.

What a surprise to see our picture at check in . (Montana) it was very busy but went quick. They had a lot of sites to get ready, thankfully ours was ready.
