View Full Version : What is your strategy for QSDP?

It will be me, DH, and two DD's - 6 and almost 4. Probably we'll use snack credits for breakfast items, then CS credit each for lunch and dinner, and then a snack credit for a snack at the parks during the day.

There might be some sharing of meals going on as my younger DD eats very little, which could help save on credits.

How do you make your credits last all week?

It all depends on your family's eating habits and appetites so the answer varies greatly from onefamily to the next. I will say this however: the problem is usually not making the credits last - it is getting them used by the end of the trip!!!

For some reason the QSDP seems to be more food and I think it is due to having the extra snack included. The kids get the same snacks as the adults so you may find that you don't need to use a snack credit for each person for breakfast. At a guess, I would say you may be able to get by with using 2 or 3 SC for breakfast items and sharing. Unless breakfast is a main meal for you.

If you share a combo meal (like chicken and ribs or a double burger) here and there, you DEFINITELY won't have to worry about needing more credits.

Wolfgang pucks and a few other places also have huge meals to share (MK-Cosmic Ray's, Pecos Bills with the fixin's bar....EPCOT tangeriene cafe at morocco, DHS..starring rolls with large delicious sandwiches and desserts as big as your head).

Combo breakfasts at most of the resort counter service include a small mickey waffle, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuit, and two drinks. Lot of food for 1 CS credit.

go to allears.net and see the menu lists. You won't go hungry..don't worry.

I doubt you'll run out of food by the end of your stay!

We, two adults, spend 7 days on the QSDP back in May. We ate every morning at our resort's food court. We usually shared one CS beakfast plate (mostly pancakes or waffles), got two bottled water as our drinks to use later on in the day, shared a yogurt parfait or fruit cup, and got coffee or hot cocoa from the drink station in our refilable mugs. All that was only one CS credit and one Snack credit, so we still had 3 CS and 3 snacks left for the day. For lunch, we often shared too (it was so hot in May, I wasn't all that hungry!)

Seriously, by mid-trip, we realized we'd have to stop trying to stretch our credits, or we'd end up wasting them!

I think the 2 snacks a day and the resort refillable mugs make it super easy to be on the plan and not feel like you have to stretch your credits.

We're not big breakfast eaters - we want to be up and in the parks at rope drop. We ate breakfast in the room - or on our way to the bus. Bananas, Entenmann's chocolate chip muffins, cereal & yogurt are plenty for us. And if we're ready for an early lunch...less crowds in the restaurants. We usually have a couple of snacks throughout the afternoon and eat dinner back at Pop, where the dessert choices are plentiful! For instance - a 3 scoop ice cream sundae. We go in Jan/Feb when parks have reduced hours, so eating dinner when the parks close means 7 or 8, not 9 or 10.

One of the things this summer that I did was get fruit or a muffin as my dessert at dinner.

I was then able to save this for my breakfast the next day, which left the snack credits for later. It allowed me to save 3 CS meals over the course of the week so that my children could eat a full breakfast on our check out day before heading to the airport at 10:00 am.

There really was plenty of food and depending on where you get your meals (we loved Wolfgang Puck at DTD--the flatbread pizzas were wonderful!) you can definitely share meals.

I copied and pasted the info below from my post to another thread..
The example shown by the PP above is great. I just wanted to add that we have done both the "regular" DDP and the QS DDP. Both times we had way more food than we could eat at each meal, and we left with numerous snack credits left. I think on our last trip we had 13 snack credits left over, and that was AFTER buying botles of water and snacks for the plane ride home.

Also, a tip: we have 2 adults, 2 kids. OUr kids eat breakfast, but my DH and I usually do not. Do, we used one of our snacks each day to get a latte in the parks (can NOT drink the Nasty-Cafe). For the kids, on a few mornings we got them a QS breakfast to share. They are 5 and 7 and it was enough for them. Then, we usually used one of their snack credits to get a muffin when we got to the parks, which they also shared. Then, they shared a QS lunch (one credit) and we also got a snack, such as the egg roll. In this way we really made the most of our credits while getting the kids all three meals. The only thing we ever opened our wallets for food-wide were alcoholic bevvies and one character breakfast.

I can also add this: the first time we used the DDP we were "saving" credits by paying for a Coke in the middle of the afternoon, etc. DON"T DO THIS! Just use them, or you'll have a ton left over at the end and it hurts to leave knowing you have all those unused credits on your card just going to waste!

Oh, and PS...

At breakfast - eat at the resort and get your drink in your refillable mug (you get one per person on the QSDDP), then get a bottle of water with your QS credit to bring with you into the parks.

We use one mug in the morning and we all drink from it, then I wash it out in the bathroom and put it in my backpack when we're done. I wish there was a better option, but if there is I have not found it yet. :confused3 We definitely don't want to hike back to the room to drop off the mugs. Plus, we continue to drink the drink on the bus ride.

We do this, as well - sometimes with both mugs. The mug comes in handy after cs meals in the parks, as well. We usually cannot finish the large drink in the restaurants, so we pour it out of the cup and into a mug or two. Keeps the drink cold a little longer - this helped a lot in August.

We made this same mistake the first time. The next time we just said "drink away" and figured we'd just buy sodas on the last days IF we needed to. Never paid for one drink :)

We are doing a single day in the park at the end of January with QSDP. We will eat breakfast on the road, have lunch and dinner on our meal credits, snacks as desired, and stop by the McD's near AllStars for breakfast the next morning before getting back on the road.

Geez. That is a good idea. Now I feel silly for walking around with my mug in my backpack and throwing away a cup full of Coke. Thanks for the tip!!!!:thumbsup2

Really, don't save your snack credits. Enjoy them.
If you have some left at the end, get boxes of cookies or something easy to take home and remember your trip with or give as little gifts.

I was sick on one solo trip, so had about 4 CS credits and 2TS left, and I don't remember how many snack credits!

I got some OJ, V8, and 2 water bottles, put them in my bag for the airport & trip home. They didn't make it through security!:confused3  So, I gave them to others in line, who wound up throwing them away rather than drinking them. What a waste! Now I know to load up on boxes of cookies, or bags of jelly beans, or rice krispie Mickey treats, or something.
