Hello Everyone,
I recently bought Birnbaum Guide's Walt Disney World Dining Guide and they list all the food places in the world with Mickey ears next to those that accept the DDP. Some places that I thought would accept the plan don't have the ears such as Aloha Isle, Enchanted Grove, Ghirardelli's, etc. Is this just a mistake or can use snack credits for Dole Whips.. etc.?
Also.. can someone explain a snack credit to me in more specifically? Most places say that its a single serving of chips.. scoop of popcorn.. etc. but others says under $4? For example, could you get a side dish or a dessert from a counter service or something?
Thanks in advance!popcorn::

I know that in August, I got a Dole Whip and float as snacks. I'm not sure if it has changed since then.

Trust me - you'll go crazy trying to understand the exact snacks on the DP before you get there. The best thing to do is just know the general information about it and then you'll understand completely when you're there.
Most things under $4.00 that could be considered a snack are snack options. However, there are always a few exceptions. Just know that when you're looking for a snack, look for the purple Disney Dining Plan insignia by the item you would like. Sometimes, the insignia won't be there and you have to ask, but that typically happens when there are a lot of snacks in a case together (ex. not everything in the case at the candy shop at DHS are marked as snacks, but they all are considered snacks).

Ghirardelli's definitely won't accept them - it's not run by Disney. I do know you can get a Dole Whip with them. I would say that Birnbaum's list is not comprehensive. They might not list places that take only snack credits, and do not take CS or TS.
You may be able to get a side dish or dessert at CS if that item is available as a snack credit. Not all of them are. CS menus will have the logos. In stores, gift shops, other places where the logos are not as prominent, you may have to ask, and even when you ask you might get different answers from different CMs.
Snacks are single servings only. Whether or not bags of multiple items, like candy or chips, will be eligible depends on how many servings it's considered. You may not use snack credits for boxes of donuts, family size bags of chips, half gallons of milk, that sort of thing. You can get only a single order of popcorn, not a bucket of popcorn.

I wouldd't put a heckuva lot of stock in the $4 guideline, because at this point many of the items that fell under that rule have increased in price over $4 but have not as yet been excluded as snack credits. The single-serving rule is much more consistent, but there are some exceptions on items that are single serving in the common sense even though they might be more in the nutritional label sense (an obvious one - 20oz sodas are actually 2.5 servings, but they're still snacks).
As a previous poster said, you'll make yourself crazy trying to understand/plan snacks in advance. There is no official comprehensive list of places that accept snack credits, and Birnbaum's doesn't include the many, many unpublished snack vendors. Take a look at the snack credit sticky at the top of this board shortly before you leave (the 1st post is kept updated, so you don't need to read through the thread), and if you see something you want while wandering the World that doesn't have the purple snack logo but seems like it could/should be a snack, just ask.

I agree with the previous poster about not fixing your mind on a "rule" about the credits. Not only to they occasionally modify the credits but in agreement to the point made about the $4 rule, prices don't necessarily increase at the beginning of the year when the new year's dining plans come into effect. They also don't increase prices at all venues at the same time and there is therefore no set announcement as to which menus, venues and prices are being altered. As far as snack credits, it is usually safest not to plan too rigidly on how or where you will use them. YOu can do this to a greater extent with TS and CS meals, but the SC's are less "stable".

Don't stress, it'll be easily marked when you get there. I've had a Dole Whip, a Dole Whip float, a bagel w/cream cheese, even one of the serious goodies at Goofy's Candy Co. at DTD as snack credits! Yummy!!!!
