Let me 1st say that our family is more into quaint, beautiful surroundings and don't usually like highrise hotel type places so we were really unsure when we booked BLT for our November vacation. We have stayed at BCV, SSR and VWL in the past and stayed 1 night at AKV this trip after our 7 nights at BLT. I like them all for different reasons but our whole group (2-2BR suites, 12 people) all absolutely fell in love with BLT!

The decor there is not our style but that's the case of many beautiful hotels around the world. They don't need to match my home decor styles. We made requests and didn't get exactly what I wanted but we still loved our rooms and stay. Everything was clean and looked new. We loved loved loved being so close to MK, just seeing the castle 100 times a day was huge. Our kids loved that aspect. We also saw fireworks every night we were there and never went into MK to see them. This was amazing. It was especially nice for the 3 and 5 yr olds in our group because they saw the fireworks a lot yet got to be in bed sleeping at a reasonable hour every night.

The kids loved the pool, slide and play area and had a lot of fun days there. We didn't use the TOTWL as much as we would have liked but if this was an adult trip we would have been there every night-it is BEAUTIFUL and fun. The beds and bedding were comfortable, the kids slept on the pull out in the living room and had no complaints. The staff was extremely helpful with any requests (asked for a blender and it was brought within 15 min, broken microwave was swapped out within 30 min, very helpful with Internet connection issues). We love the standalone shower in the Master BR instead of being in the common bathroom to the living area-really gave us more privacy since our suite became the hang out suite. And it kept the kids out of our bathroom completely since they had their own shower, tub and toilet. We had a lockoff 2 BR and found no problems with the studio side. My mom said it felt smaller at first but she loved all the storage space she got with this configuration.

The contemporary is so convenient for food options and there are plenty. Contempo Cafe had some nice offerings for counter service, the gift shops were very nice and not tiny and the Wave we really loved. Walking to MK was 5 minutes and such an easy walk even for a 3 yr old with no stroller. We would never take the monorail to MK. Bus service when we needed it was pretty good although I don't like shared buses between resorts. Even though SSR has so many bus stops I feel less imposed upon than going to a completely different resort-call me crazy it's a perception thing.

We had a view of the Contemporary, Bay Lake, Epcot, Expedition Everest and more-it was beautiful!!! My sister's room had a view of the pool and lake and she loved that.

Can't think of anything else but at the end of the trip even the kids were saying we want to stay here next time. I hope we're able to get it again in the future but if not we'll go back to one of our other favorites.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed BLT! Our first trip to BLT is not until 3/01/2010, and it seems like its taking forever to get here!! What view category did you have? And what was your room number? Work2play has a thread on BLT rooms and views on the Planning board (see http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2257082). If you have a chance, perhaps you can post your info to her thread.

understand completely don't like highrises myself. being that close to the MK was the reason brought BLT - even when it meet selling OKW - long time favorite.

since only getting (so far) standard rooms - they are generally under 5th floor - so that works for me.

loved, loved TOW - definitely go there too see the fireworks at least once. It is lovely.

glad you enjoyed BLT - it is really a nice place.

Sounds like you had a great vacation and loved the resort.

I have the same feelings that you expressed about the resort, but I figured with its location, monorail access...that at some point we would have to try it. Sounds like a great place

Great review. I HATED BLT when I saw the artists drawings but fell in love with the model suites. We have our first trip booked for March and am dying to stay there! VWL, BCV and AKL are our faves so I have many of the same feelings as you. I hope we like it just as much.
