View Full Version : Is this a lame idea?

I had an idea for Christmas and I am wondering if it is lame or not.

I got a package of 16 journaling prompt cards, things like "The one event in my life that changed me the most" and "When I watch you play I am reminded of" and "The five greatest reasons I chose you as my other half", and I was thinking I would make them into a book and give it to the family for Christmas.

Would that be egotistical? I thought it would be something my DH and DD9 would appreciate and someday my younger two kids. It is just so out of my comfort zone that I don't want to do it if it's a dumb idea. This would obviously not be the only Christmas gift that my DH or kids are getting and I realize that it's not going to be the wow present or even interesting to anyone when there are new toys around, but do you think they would like it over time? :confused3

I believe they would... I made one similiar to that for my DH...and there are times I find him flipping through the pages showing the kids and talking to them about it..and what makes us a great family!!

If you have time, I'd say go for it!

I think they'll love it!

Maybe give it one Christmas Eve instead so it's importance is not missed in the hubbub of Santa and Christmas day. It kind of goes along the lines of the true meaning of Christmas.

i love this idea! i too think christmas eve would be a good time to give it to them.

i have a friend that her daughter has so many extended family (because of divorce and such) xtra grandparents, cousins......so she does 3 gifts for her. one from each of the wise men. she sat her down and explained the whole reason for the season and that the wise men brought gifts..... and that's their tradition! i think it's nice.

Thanks for the ideas about Christmas Eve and for the encouragement everyone.

I'll do it, but better get started on it because it will take a long time for me to say what I really mean.
