UPDATE: 08/01/2002 - They still haven't released the dates for CP and it is 120 days out already. I'm working this weekend and going to seminars the next week. Then after next weekend, I'll be out of town on vacation. Since only one person, committed to this, and everyone else is thinking about it, I won't have the time to get everyone's money, e-mail and get organized at the last minute if everyone starts to post that they want to go when and if the official announcement comes out. I just know that this will sell out the very first day that it is announced, and all the best restaurants and times will be gone fast. So, if you buy a CP package, I'll list your names, and times so that you can meet and sit together.

{UPDATE: Copied below this post or originally on the 19TH POST DOWN}

If Mr. Roy Disney is really confirmed to be the narrator for the EPCOT Candlelight Processional on December 1, 2002, Sunday evening, I would very much be interested in seeing him that night.

Would anyone else be interested in a DIS-meet that night and purchasing a dinner package to see Mr. Roy Disney narrate the Candlelght Processional.

We could have a nice dinner together.

We could enjoy the Candlelight Processional with Mr. Disney.

We could watch the Illuminations fireworks.

Maybe we could even stroll along the Boardwalk afterwards before retiring for the night.

If Mr. Roy Disney is really going to do this, I want to see him.

Anyone else there on Dcember 1, 2002, might be interested in this DIS-meet.

I'll still going to CP on December 9, 2002. I love the CP. Especially with DIS friends.

(Disclaimer: Of course, this may change as all DIS-meets might change as they get tweeked or something else even better comes up...lol.)

RaySharpton

You are absolutely right, Barb-for-real...lol.

And I know this might be the night for the Wilderness Lodge Resort's Whispering Cafe DIS-meet and for the Holiday Resort Tour DIS-meet. Both these are still in the planning stages and may happen on a different day. We just have to wait and see the official itinerary from Mackey Mouse and Patinmn.

But if Mr Roy Disney is truely going to be a narrator for Sunday, I would really like to see him up close and choose a dinner package.

Although it has not been announced, yet. Last year they openned the EPCOT Candlelight Processional package in August.

If they announce the narrators then, and Mr. Roy Disney is listed as a narrator for December 1, 2002, Sunday evening, then I firmly believe that these tickets will be grabbed up fast. I also believe that they will reserve many seats for special guests or bigwigs...lol, which will reduce the number of available packages for that day.

Secondly, the restaurants only allow so many time slots in the package and the best restaurants with the best times will sell out first and fast. So signing up early, when offered in August is going to be essential.

Thirdly, someone will have to "order", and to "pay" for, and to "choose one" of "three possible times" to see the show, and to "choose one" of restaurants at the "same tier level", and to choose the "one specific time" to eat (if available), and then pay for "everyone's package at the same time on their credit card, and then finally hope, that everyone sends that crazy person ordering, a check to pay for the the Candlelight Processional package. And then the admission will need to be picked up at the resort and handed out to everyone. And yes, you have to have admission into EPCOT.

So everyone in the group would have to:
1. Agree on a specific time to see CP.
2. Agree on a specific Restaurant.
3. Agree on a specific time to eat.
4. Agree to pay the poor guy that is going to send his credit card over(well...maybe near) the limit to pay for everyone.

If Mr. Roy Disney is going to really do this, I will volunteer to host this DIS-meet and make only one reservation.

I am open to times and to restaurants.

I would like to see a night show (when it is dark and not light outside).

I would also like to eat at one of the tier three level restaurants.

The group could be three to 10 or 15, depending on the restaurant table size. It would be so much nicer if everyone could sit at the same table(s).

Also there should be a standby group that doesn't want to pay for a package. Because the CP is free with the price of EPCOT admission. But be prepared to stand in line for Mr. Roy Disney for as long as you would for your favorite spot to watch Illuminations.

Or you can still listen to the music and you can still see some of the event standing or sitting outside the American pavillion without waiting at all.

Who wants to do this (post your DIS name and number of tickets)?

Who wants to do standby? (this could be a party in itself...lol.)

What CP package tentative restaurant would you like to eat at? (last year it was Tier Three - Adults $39.95 and Children 3-11 - $10.95. Price includes gratuity but not the 6% tax.
Chef de France Restaurant - France
L'Orignale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante - Italy
Le Cellier Steakhouse - Canada
Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Dining Room - Japan.)

What tentative time would you like to see the CP show? (Last year on Sunday, it was 5:00 P.M., 6:45 P.M., and 8:15 P.M..)

Wow! Sounds very cool....we may do the CP that night if he's the reader....though I may have to skip on joining the DIS group. My parents will be with us.

What a coincidence though...I was just looking into the whole CP thing....

Perhaps we'll see you there!

I might like to do this, How much will it be....or we just going to try and do the stand-by line?

Good morning, Shannon, Nancy, Leslie, Debbie, Dan, and Patrick.

Leslie, your parents would be more than welcome to come with us.

Patrick, I have a strange feeling that this particular Sunday night might very well be a sell-out. And I've seen people start lining up for standby for over two hours or more in advance.

We could definitely have two groups. One for standby, and one for package.

I will buy a dinner package if Mr. Roy Disney is truly the narrator.

Here are last years (2001) prices for EPCOT's Candlelight processional from Deb Wills:

Is there a charge to see the Candlelight Processional?

Only if you want purchase the dinner package.

You can either purchase a ticket for the Dinner Package OR you can watch for free. You do *not* need a ticket to see Epcot's Candlelight Processional (it is included in your Epcot admission).

However, seating without the dinner package is on a first come, first serve basis for each show. Folks line up 45 minutes (longer as you are closer to Christmas) before show time. 15 minutes prior to the show, seating is then opened up to those on line. Also keep in mind if you wait in line for the 2nd or 3rd show of the night, you will be hearing the show before you as it is performed.

You can always stroll by the American Gardens Theatre in World Showcase to listen to the music and wonders of Christmas.

If you wish to purchase the dinner package (explained below) with reserved seating, there is a charge.

What does the Candlelight Processional Dinner Dinner Package include?

The package includes dinner at select Epcot restaurants and reserved general seating at the American Gardens Theatre.
For 2001, there is no "After 4pm Park Admission" special and no lanyard and pin. You WILL receive 15% off selected merchandise the day of your show.

For dinner you have your choice of soup or salad or appetizer; entree and dessert. Beverages are NOT included this year. You order off the regular menu for the restaurant

There are THREE Tiers of Restaurants and Pricing.

Tier One - Adults - $25.95 and Children 3-11 - $10.95. Price includes gratuity but not the 6% tax.
Restaurant Akershus - Norway
Biergarten - Germany
Garden Grill - The Land

Tier Two - Adults - $32.95 and Children 3-11 - $10.95. Price includes gratuity but not the 6% tax.
Nine Dragons Restaurant - China
Rose & Crown - United Kingdom
Restaurant Marrakesh - Morocco
San Angel Inn - Mexico

Tier Three - Adults $39.95 and Children 3-11 - $10.95. Price includes gratuity but not the 6% tax.
Chef de France Restaurant - France
L'Orignale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante - Italy
Le Cellier Steakhouse - Canada
Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Dining Room - Japan

I hope that this helps.

Hi Ray

The dinner package certainly sounds like it is the way to go.

Lesley
07-19-2002, 11:53 AM
Thanks Ray! In our case its more that my parents may not be comfortable having dinner with a large group of people they don't know....they just aren't really people who do that sort of thing. I hope no one takes offense!

That said, we'll probably see you in the reserved seating area! Of course they'll probably announce that the next night is being read by Robby Benson or someone like that.....my mom once admitted to having a bit of a crush on him! LOL Roy Disney probably wouldn't hold as much appeal for my parents as it does for us! But if they want to see a different reader they'll just have to get themselves in the standby line for another night....I want to see Mr. Disney if he's doing it! We'll definitely be doing the dinner package.

where did you find this please!!! And yes I would be interested but I thought we had to make individual reservations when you brought the dinner - oh but I really want to do the Holiday tours too - decisions!

Pat's correct. That is the problem with the Candlelight Processional dinner package-you have to make your PS and pay up front. It does get complicated when you have so many people. My suggestion is that we form small groups, decide where each group would like to eat and have one person be the spokesperson for that group. But realize that if someone is handling the PS and the money for that PS, that you are committed.
I think Nancy's right, if Roy is indeed the speaker on the 1st, you won't get near the place without the dinner package.

Count me if if Roy Disney is the speaker. If not, I'll take my chances in the standby line. Since I'll be down there for 12 nights, I'm bound to find a night that is less crowded. I also have to agree with Barb. This could turn into a scheduling nightmare. Isn't that right Patrick. :)

Scheduling nightmare has my vote. :(

As much as I LOVE this idea, Ray, I'm just not sure how 'managable' this will be.

Ray, let me know if you call CRO/group dining/other and work something out. :D

OK, Ray...I'll commit!

1. 8:00 p.m. show
2. one person
3. assuming tier one means the most expensive - so I'm game for Chefs de France, Le Cellier, or Teppanyaki (in that order of preference)
4. eat before show - doesn't mater what time

Thanks for being willing to do this! :D

Thank you, Nancy. I meant "Tier Three", the restaurants that you listed, not tier one. I'll correct that on my post above..

And I lke all those restaurants, also.

I'm going to go back and list last year's times and last year's prices and last years restaurants.

For all you new DISers. This is all tentative on if Mr. Roy Disney is the narrator on 12/01/02, and if tey have three shows that day, and we can only guesstamate the prices, times, and restaurants from last year.

Once announced. I'll post the official prices, times, and restaurants, etc..

Ray - once the CP dinner packages are available to be booked, we still may not know who the narrators are. Guess we'll have to reserve something any way, and if it turns out that Roy is NOT the narrator, then you can always cancel.

I believe Alfredo's was also a tier three restaurant last year. I've never eaten there, but I don't have any particular interest in that restaurant.

RaySharpton
07-23-2002, 02:13 AM
Thank you, Nancy. I corrected all that information.

I love Italian food, (actually I love almost any kind of food...lol) but I have never had the urge to revisit the Italian restaurant. The food, the choices, the service? I don't know.

As far as the narrators being announced, I may wait or I may not wait until he is announced. Mr. Roy Disney will be the only reason that I would go that night.

I am going to CP on 12/09/2002 also.
