Hey There!

I'm back with another Pre-Trip Report.

How This Trip Came to Be:

My last two trips I was planning were postponed. The first one was going to be in September 2009, I wasn't able to go because I had gastric banding surgery at the end of August. Then Jen & I were planning a make up trip for January 2010 and money issues just got into the way and I had to cancel. It really broke my heart, especially since I had to cancel on Jen. Well...turns out that we came into some unexpected money and I can swing a shorter trip then originally planned in January. Bad news? Jen & I had already canceled everything and she won't be able to join me. :guilty: I totally understand though, I'd just like to see her again!

The Dates:

Saturday January 16th - Tuesday January 19th. Much, much shorter than I had originally planned with Jen but I'm just happy to be getting to Disney at all.

The Resort:

Pop Century. This breaks my heart just a teeny bit. I was really excited about staying at POFQ with Jen but that is not in the cards for this shorter, cheaper trip.

The Cast:

Me, Leslie or LL on the DIS. I'm 27, originally from Maine but have been living in Massachusetts for the last three years. I'm married to a wonderful man, Marc. I'm obsessed with planning Disney trips and on any given day have at least three future trip ideas running around in my brain.

This was taken tonight after I had my haircut.

Marc & I, a few weeks ago.

And that's it...

or is it?

:rolleyes1

JEN! :yay:

Yep! When I told Jen I could swing a January trip afterall, she decided that she would not be joining me since she had canceled her time off request and since we were planning on going in October together, she was just going to focus on that.

Until her husband, Phillip, pointed out that with my shorter trip she already had that Monday & Tuesday off and that she should just go with me! THANK YOU PHILLIP!

When Jen told me that, I had tears in my eyes. I am so happy that she can join me and that I can see her again.

We've already done a lot of planning in a few short days so stay tuned for more planning fun!

You people play with my mind too much!

We're on.
We're off.
We're here.
We're there.

Do you not realize I have my own head games to take care of???

The Disney Devil and Dave Ramsey have each chosen a shoulder to sit on and jump and down on about my slightly possible March trip with a friend.

You can swing it.
No you can't.
Just two nights.
Two nights will turn into four.
You'll probably get a code.
Flights are expensive.
Maybe they'll go down.

They're driving me nuts,
so how am I supposed to handle your ups and downs and ons and offs, too, girl???

And
by
the
way...

I'm in. :cool1: :cheer2:
And Page 1, at that!

And how nice of me to let you stay at my Pop, too, right? :dance3:
You forgot that part. :)

LL!!! and Jen!!! That is just soooo cool that you get to go together after all!!! I am just so happy for you what great fun and luck!!!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

LL, your hair style looks extremely flattering! Did you straighten it? Did your hair dresser do that? the layers, etc. enhance your face, looks great. I am really impressed the difference is dramatic! Your weightloss is apparent! All in all it will come with time, and that is awesome that you are making such progress! The hair style really makes it noticeable...I have naturally curly hair, and I straighten mine no problem... That style looks so different on you, really stylish and you look very pretty!

I am so excited to hear all about your plans!!!!!! :yay:

I am so excited to hear all about your plans!!!!!! :yay:Thank you so much! Yes, the hair stylist straightened it yesterday after my cut. Today I let it curl again just to see how it'd look but I'm liking the straighter hairdo. The hairdresser actually told me I had beautiful hair yesterday, NO hairdresser has ever said that to me they usually just tell me how crappy my hair is. :rotfl2:

We've decided that we are going to do our updates together. My comments are in the purple, Jen's in blue. :thumbsup2

We've got a lot to say about this trip of ours (Jen's Comments are in blue LOL) and only

54 Days to say it all!

Or 7 Weeks.

Or 7 Mondays.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

First up, transportation.

Jen will be renting a car and driving from her house. We will have this spiffy car magnet to put on the rental car to help us identify it. I'm also going to make an antenna topper to help too. No losing the rental car this trip! :rotfl:

Any chance that magnet makes noise??? LOL Because I'm telling you we need noisemakers on the car because if anyone can lose their car its me. Man, I can lose that car in an empty parking lot!!!

You know, I think that is a great idea. Maybe we should market a squealing magnet that says "JEN YOUR CAR IS OVER HERE!" :rotfl2:

http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af285/lalliepoppins/January%202010%20PTR/696882426_vvgZK-M.jpg

I will be flying Southwest using the credits I had originally purchased for September. I'll be arriving in Orlando on Saturday at 10:55am. I'll be departing Orlando at 8:00am on Tuesday.

These are not set in stone for me. For one, Jen has generously offered to bring me to the airport on Tuesday morning (Right Jen?) (Sure thing, it will get me home early and get ready for returning back to the real world) and it seems way early to be leaving Disney but the flight time works well for Marc to pick me up after he gets out of work and before he goes to bed for the day. So I'm torn. I think the plan is great!! I know its early but it will all be okay LOL!!!!

I've also been thinking about flying into Orlando on Friday night after work. There is a flight that departs around 6:30pm so I could work most of the day and get out a little early to make it. I love the idea of a Friday night flight so that I'd have all day Saturday to have with Jen instead of flying the whole morning on Saturday.

I've told myself that I will not add a night at Pop unless I can get a standard room for the four nights. Right now we are in a preferred room. I can save a little money downgrading to a standard room and then won't feel as guilty adding on another night. It will not cost me anything to change my flight. :thumbsup2

However, if that doesn't work out!! I will get there early enough to check us in Saturday morning and head to our first park and get us fastpasses for the day!!!!

As far as park tickets go, I have a one day ticket from last May. Jen has offered to let me use her one day ticket from May so then I will only have to pay to upgrade those two tickets to a three day. If they won't let me combine them since they have different names on them, I will just buy a one day ticket. I refuse to stress out about this so I will just have that money set aside. We will be going to a park on each day, no park hopping. Jen has renewed her annual pass. Yup Yup for 15 months...that is 15 more months of possible Disney goodness LOL

I was really stressing out before on what I would wear in January. With the weather going either way and my weight loss, clothes shopping has NOT been pleasant. I've decided to do the layered look. (Because Jen suggested it LOL, I also go with the layered look LOL) Tshirts, Long sleeve tees, hoodie. I'm planning on bringing jeans and perhaps one pair of capri jeans.(LOL NO CAPRIS FOR ME LOL) I'm thinking I should bring mittens and scarf but I wonder if that is overkill for this New England girl. (I'll borrow them if you don't use them) I will admit that I don't own a proper winter jacket and haven't for years. (Just cried a bit inside at this comment LOL) I just usually wear a heavy duty hoodie with mittens. I am not outside for extended periods of time though. I'm very confused. Any New Englanders or January Disney veterans have opinions? Jen is always cold so I don't always trust her weather assessment. :rotfl2:(I resent this statement LOL, you have to remember its WINTER for me down here LOL I have the right to be cold LOL)

I went to the Disney Store yesterday looking to buy some Disney tees since I've lost weight. They had a horrible selection and I was concerned that the largest size was not quite long enough, I think it might have fit me but not be long enough. I have this problem with shirts all the time, being on the taller side I have tough time finding ones that have a good length.

I was so bummed out. I decided to check out the Disney website and....THEY HAVE PLUS SIZE TEES NOW! :yay: The best thing is that they go up to 4x, now I don't wear that size anymore but I decided to get the biggest size for the length. If they are too big then I will return them for the 3x. They seem to run on the small size. The best part? They are $16.50 each or 2 for $20! What a great deal!

I'll take pictures when I get them. The first is Minnie, the second is Tink. I don't think I've ever owned a Minnie shirt. I am so excited!(WHOOOO...we can match I have a Minnie and a Tink shirt....only good things can happen from this)

From another website I ordered a new pair of jeans, a new hoodie, two long sleeve tees and two tshirts for the layering plan. Once they come in, if they fit I will get pictures of those. (LOL I don't have to order anything, a shorter trip means my 3 long sleeve undershirts are going to work out just fine for me).

We have planned a lot in the last few days and have just a little bit more to nail down. We've picked our three parks and our three ADRs. I have a good idea about my wardrobe, I know I'll be wearing my sneakers. One big thing to be decided is what park bag will I be using? :confused3 ;) :rotfl2:(VERA VERA VERA VERA) Yes, but what Vera? Do I buy a new one? :lmao:

Call me an enabler - but I think you should go on Friday night! I know this is a budget trip, so only do it if you can afford it.

As far as the park ticket - I really don't know if you can combine two individual parks tickets. That would be so great if you could.

So great that you were able to find Tshirts. I was at a Disney store recently and I didn't see one thing I wanted. Hard to believe, but true. But now I am kicking myself because I saw the cutest little Tinkerbell Halloween candy container at Kohl's that I didn't buy. Boy,I wish I had.

:dance3: for plus size t-shirts at Disney online for 2 for $20!! I'm heading over there now!! Last year was the first year I ever found plus size clothes at WDW! I was so excited!! Its the little (or in this case big...) things in life!

As far as January weather goes, Jen is on the right track with layering!! We were there last year Jan 21-28 and FROZE our tushes off the first few days. IT was record lows for Florida - upper 20s overnight - and colder in Florida than it was in Texas!!! So we were layering with coats and mittens and blankets for the baby at the beginning of the trip, and then I was in a tshirt and bermuda shorts by the end of the trip. So pack for all weather and check the forecast often!!!

IF you decide to go down Friday night ( do it do it do it do it .... :rolleyes1 did you hear something??? ) I have an idea!!

Bump down to standard from preferred and then request 60s building, first floor or something like that. The backside of the preferred buildings are standard rates. This is what I did last year and it rocked! I got the idea from our stay back in April 07 when we requested my MIL's room to be as close to ours as possible, but yet at a standard rate. We had paid the extra money for the preferred location, not wanting to trek a billion miles before we even got on the bus to the parks, but she was only joining for 3 nights and wasn't wanting to spend the extra money. We were all the way at the back of the 60s buildings close to the lake and MIL was literally around the back corner of the building, maybe another 10 steps??? So we were paying an additional $12/ night for 10 less steps?!

So in our trip in 09, I requested standard room 60s building again, so we'd be close to the food court and Hippy Dippy, and we asked for 1st floor cus we had a stroller and didn't want to mess with the elevator/stairs. Room noise isn't an issue for us because I bring a white noise machine! :thumbsup2 So we got 60s building, to the right when leaving from the main hall and you just ducked between the buildings at the Playdoh container and we were 7 rooms down. IT was perfect!! Quieter than poolside, had a view of the lake and the little grassy area. We had bunny and duck visitors many days, which the kids loved!!

So just a thought to get what ya want without having to pay for it !!! :goodvibes

EDIT: Ok so re-reading that I'm realizing maybe that you meant you couldn't get a standard room because of availabilty??..... lol BUT my idea still works so I'm leaving it here anyway!!! :lmao:

Great update!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd go for the extra night if it makes sense financially :goodvibes

Speaking of weather. We went in mid Feb and it was ALL over the board (50-80+ degrees). I wore everything from tank tops and capri's/shorts to jeans and long sleeve t's and even one night, my north face jacket!

I didn't wear gloves or a hat but did have a cozy scarf!

Most days were quite warm BUT the mornings and evenings were chilly so layers was the way to go. More than once I changed mid day in the park, I brought a bigger bag and used a locker so we'd all have jackets without having to go back to the resort.

Actually, I was there this past January and it was (I think unseasonably) cold. Like 60's and maybe a bit colder at night. Maybe one day in the 70's and so I wore capris then. We have different blood up here than the southerners so we can take it a bit colder! :lmao:
I would try to go earlier if you can swing it too.....I am always thinking ahead in the winter months because of deicing the plane, etc.
I think you need a new Vera....you deserve it after all of the planning/canceling that you have had to endure. ::yes::

I haven't been there in January but I have been there in March. I was comfortable in Jeans, t-shirts and a hoodie at night. I hardly ever get cold. My classroom is so warm with all of the kids moving around that I pretty much wear short sleeves year round.

I can't wait to see the pictures of your new clothes.:cheer2: I am trying to decide on my park bag too. I want a Vera Hipster and I was going to get a retiring color because they are on sale. I got all ready to buy it and then that color was sold out. So, now I have to decide on a new color/pattern. Are you looking for a new style?

I'm also one to vote for Friday. In September, we flew in at night and went straight to bed at Disney, it felt SO good to wake up that first morning IN Disney World. It was much better than getting up at the crack of dawn, flying and feeling a bit goofy due to no sleep from the night before. Because how many of us actually get more than a couple hours before our trips?

One big thing to be decided is what park bag will I be using? :confused3 ;) :rotfl2:(VERA VERA VERA VERA) Yes, but what Vera? Do I buy a new one? :lmao:

:rotfl: What will Marc's reaction be if you buy a new one? :scared:  Are you going to do the Backpack of Wonder like Jen's?

Happy Friday! We are the early release wednesday mode here...which is good as I need a full work day before shopping and cooking and travel commence!

Saturday.....does that mean we are supposed to SIT on that day?

Cesspool of enabling. :rotfl2:

Pretty sure that's what my DH thinks it is!I like the idea of Saturday being the sitting day.

I'm here!! :yay: on being able to go again!!! And double :yay::yay: on Jen coming! Way to enable Prince Phillip.

LOVE your haircut! You look absolutely fabulous!!!

I was just coming to tell you that. there is a code too on the budget board for an additional 10 off.... and that free tote is the treat on Friday.... ( I know I am for sure a Vera enabler)

We have a new Vera store at our mall... yummo! They had rugs there I would love one for my front door, but I doubt I can ever find them on sale.

Vera newbie here!!!

What tote?! and is the 10% off with free tote deal good for online or just in stores?

I've been looking at them for our upcoming trip. Any advice on what style would be good, considering I'll be bringing a toddler who most likely will still be in diapers... so I'll need room for that stuff too. But don't want to be carrying a HUGE bag around all day.

Thanks!

Ooooh, a Vera newbie!

I have tried tons of Vera styles. My biggest piece of advice would be to go into a store that sells them and try out a few different styles. I don't always buy mine from the stores because you can find good deals on the vera website or even on ebay. Everyone seems to have their favorite style that fits their needs. :thumbsup2

Hi, hon! I'm late, but I'm here.

First off, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I hope you and Marc have a nice day.

I love your new haircut, especially straightened. It looks super cute! And I can tell that you've lost weight, you must be so proud of yourself. You go girl!

I would agree with you on ordering the larger size in tees from Disney. I'm probably a smaller size than what I get, but I find the 100% cotton tees tend to shrink in the wash, and depending on the cut, you want allow for a little of that.

I've been to Disney in January. Hon, I would bring a jacket. I have one story for you. One year we went, and granted, this is sort of a fluke, but they had a frost.

I'm not joking.

A frost. And you would think being New Englanders we'd have been prepared? No way. It was so cold my mother had to buy sweatshirts for us (me, mom, my husband then fiance at the time) and we were still shivering waiting for the bus that night.

I know it's a pain in the tuckus, but honestly, bring the jacket. Bring gloves, bring a scarf. You never know. :thumbsup2

I've been to Disney in January and February. The times that we went in January, we went for the long MLK weekend, and we thought it was cold -- and we're from Massachusetts. I'd bring the scarf and gloves just to have. Even if you don't need them, you'll at least have them. I didn't bring a jacket with me, so I just went with layers, like a long-sleeved shirt (or two, or a t-shirt and long-sleeved shirt), and always had a hoodie.

I also hope that Marc can enjoy at least some of the goodies. I hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Marc & I have decided to stay home and have our own little Thanksgiving and probably go to the movies this afternoon. I'd love for our plans today to become our regular tradition. I like the idea of having one holiday just for our little family. Instead of turkey we are having chicken. Marc will be able to eat with me so that is good. We had fun at the grocery store last night picking our sides. I know we bought way too much food but leftovers are half of the fun. :goodvibes

I'm having severe bag buying issues. I just can't decide if I want the Saddle Up or the Libby. The libby is almost half of what the Saddle Up purchase price is. It's smaller but in reality I just need to carry my camera, wallet and blister supplies. I like the fact that the Libby has a longer strap by 3 inches. Hmmmm. Hmmmm.

The dimensions are....

10" x 7" x 3" 53" adjustable strap - Libby

14" x 9" x 4" 50" adjustable strap - Saddle Up

What do you all think?

Another update.more changes.

Whos surprised?

LOL!! With me and you...probably not a whole lot of our friends LOL!!!!! Besides its a well known fact on these boards that I'm a libra and well decision making is not my forte!!!

First, the good news. My vacation day for Tuesday the 19th was officially approved. Yay! Now Im just waiting to hear if I will be approved to leave early on Friday the 15th. Im sure I will be since I just need to leave at 3PM to catch my 6:30PM flight to Orlando. I decided to add on Friday night afterall. I love the idea of arriving after work, check in, go to sleep and be refreshed and ready to go on Saturday. I still cant book a standard room at Pop but decided to just go ahead and book the preferred for all four nights. Im a little worried about the flight time and giving myself enough time to get to the airport. I like to get there way early because Im crazy like that. (I laughed here, only because this is something I freak out about too and you and I might be the only ones in the world who would choose to freak out over getting to the airport EXTRA early!!!)I figure it will take about 1.5 hours from my work so I would still get there two hours early which gives me wiggle room with traffic. It should be plenty of time. I have a feeling that Ill have to pick up my own luggage too, which I think I prefer anyways. I dont want to not have my luggage before I want to go to bed. (Of course you could pack light and only have a carry ons LOL...okay that sentence coming from ME...is just too ironic at 3am in the morning as I'm updating this LOL)So that might take me a little more time. Has anyone used Magical Express that late at night? Anything I need to know about it? (Yes please I'm curious about this too LOL)

Weve also added one more ADR to make a grand total of 4 ADRs for the trip. Its a new place for both of us but we arent telling where it is until we get to that day. Muhahahaha! (OOOH, the evil laugh I always love when a PTR has an evil laugh LOL...:thumbsup2 BTW I'm not telling either LOL)

For now, Im going to share the first full day itinerary. Instead of doing the Three/Six Must Do List, we just made a list with everything we want to try to hit up as more of a guideline. Who knows if well get to everything but at least it will keep us on track to what we did want to do. (Hmmm...guidelines....I like this word for some very odd reason!! I think we have a great list!!!!!)

Saturday January 16th:
*Hollywood Studios
Park Hours: 9 7PM, EMHs 8-9AM
*Hollywood Studio List O Things:
*Toy Story Mania xs infinity.
*The Great Movie Ride
*The Voyage of the Little Mermaid
*Beauty & The Beast
*Muppets 3D
*Streetmosphere Characters
*Animation Studio
*Meet Toy Story Characters
*Hollywood Brown Derby @ 6:45PM
*Downtown Disney after Dinner(?)

The plan is for Jen to arrive early Saturday morning to the resort, pick me up and head over to Hollywood Studios for 8AM and the Extra Magic Hours. After my EMH in October I'm really looking forward to being able to explore the less visited parts of the park with Leslie...I know this will be a lot of fun for both of us!!!I really want to ride Toy Story Mania multiple times. LOL!! I love this ride I want to ride it often too!!!I have so much fun on that ride and Ive had some really funny dreams about the queue and I must see it at least once. I think TSM will be the only thing we use fastpasses for so I think we might be able to get in a lot of rides. Fingers Crossed!

Im loving that we were able to get Brown Derby so close to park closing so that we will have a full day at Hollywood Studios and so we can leave when the park is empty! I was super sad about missing out on that with Jen, Christine & Paula in September. Going to be a great dinner I'm really really looking forward to it...and DHS at closing WOOT!!!!!

Jen mentioned hitting up DTD after dinner, how late are the stores open? Until 11pm I think....so if we're done around 8ish or so we could make a quick trek over and just do a bit first day shopping LOL...I will have to purchase my annual Disney jacket!!!! I think it might be a nice thing to do after our day. Plus I never got to DTD last May so Id like to check out the Pin Store and World of Disney. I might also have to buy some Mr. Potato Head parts.

I have been trying to think of something to buy Marc for Christmas. He's so hard to buy for...and I found something!

I got an email from Aerogarden and they have a 3 pod aero garden normally $94.90 for $50.96!!

You can not beat that price!

It also comes with the herb starter kit and a flower starter kit. Yahooo!! I really hope he loves it. He tried to grow herbs on our balcony this past summer but it didn't go well, I think this will work well.

Don't you love it when you find that perfect gift?
Still waiting to hear what you ordered yesterday.....:rolleyes1

Hurrah, an update! Giggling at the changes. Of COURSE there are changes!

I seem to recall that Magical Express changed the process relatively recently such that arrivals after a certain time of night don't get their checked bags delivered until the next day. The bus part still works the same you just might have to plan accordingly with your carry-on bag.

You will love Brown Derby at closing time. Magical!! :wizard:

Anxious to hear what your new ADR is. popcorn::

I will be getting my luggage for sure then. I don't want my bag delivered the next day..that is just silly. I'm hoping to do a carry on and a backpack for my personal item. Think I can fit everything into those? :rolleyes1

I really am looking forward to Brown Derby. It's so yummy and I love that it's near park closing time. :lovestruc

Jen and LL,

You gotta remember which board you're on...I HAVE to get to the airport at least 2 1/2 hours before my scheduled flight time. I get very nervous if I don't.

Brown Derby:love:

Just a reminder that the National College Cheer and Dance Championships are that weekend at DHS and WWOS usually making DHS more crowded on Sat/Sun

It says for arrivals after 10pm they are delivering the next day. So probably wise to get it yourself if you want to ensure you have it. I bet for a quick trip you could fit it all in a carry-on. :thumbsup2 Although that could limit your souvenir space... and that could be a good or bad thing. :rolleyes1

I am the same way about getting to the airport early. I get anxious if we don't. My dad has to travel a lot for work and he tells us that we don't NEED to leave 2+ hours early, but my mom and I have tried to point out to him that traveling solo and often not even having to check a suitcase is different than traveling with three other people -- especially 3 females, 2 of whom are very nervous females/travelers, and tend to pack heavily. :rolleyes1 He has learned it is best to just humor us. I'd rather be in the airport, at the gate, waiting for an hour or more, than be sitting in traffic on 93, watching the clock and panicking.

EXACTLY. I rather be earlier then being panicked stuck in traffic. I have to keep repeating myself getting out of work 3.5 hours before my flight will be fine. I expect to take 1.5 hours at the very most to get there. I think it will take much less...depending on the weather. But it should be fine. :rolleyes1

Other than TSM, I think you're okay. RnRC and ToT were the worst. I'm not sure but I think Indy Stunt Spectacular is closed due to the competition, but I don't see that on your list. I think you're all good.

I'm really doing my best to ignore the whole "I'm flying out in the middle of winter" thing. If not, I am going to worry so much all my hair falls out. I can tell you one thing....if snow is forecasted that day I'm calling out of work and camping out at the airport. :rotfl2:

I think we will be bypassing both ToT and RnRC so we are safe in that regards. And I'm not going to let anyone deter me from riding Toy Story Mania x's infinity. They'll just need to stay out of my way. :lmao:

I made my flight reservations Wednesday for my May trip and I am flying out a day early too thanks to all of the enabling chatter and what a good idea it is! :lmao:
Love your idea for Marc for Christmas. I have 3 Earth boxes that are on my deck. I can't have a garden because of my pet deer. The Earth boxes are great because you can grow anything...tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, etc. Then I usually put some herbs--cilantro, parsley in pots. I remember reading that it is ideal for balconies and such because of space. There is nothing like growing fresh veggies! Just call me Farmer Tracy! :rotfl2:

Wow LL, I am gone for 2 weeks and what changes!!!!! :goodvibes I am glad you were able to rebook your trip. I know how disappointing it is to have to cancel. I am trying to decide if I should keep our trip for next Nov. or if we should go earlier. I want to go earlier but I would love to see Disney at Christmas too.

I am able to read between calls at my new job so I picked up, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I loved it!!! Do you (or any one else) have any more book suggestions?

I too had no idea what to get Jon for Christmas and you gave me the best idea. I am going to get him a container garden as he would love to have a garden but we are to busy for one so this would be perfect. Thank you!!!! :worship:

LL, I saw some of your book recommendations -- I LOVED Innocent Traitor and The Lady Elizabeth. Especially Innocent Traitor. I am hugely obsessed with that time period.

I also know how you feel about freaking out about the weather here when you leave -- we've traveled twice in April, the rest of the times in January/February, and never, ever had a weather issue, even this past February when the weather was crazy. I know it is unpredictable, but I thought I'd let you know that we have had very good luck and I hope it is the same for you. :goodvibes

I am so exhausted.

Marc & I were on a quest today for the perfect Christmas Tree. We drove all over creation, debating between getting a smaller potted tree, a fake tree or just a small real one. We went for a walk in one of the historical parks in Concord. I took some pictures, I'll upload them tomorrow. Went to the inlaws to get our box of Christmas stuff. Went to Walmart. Went to Lowes. Finally found the perfect tree and came home...exhausted. We hung christmas lights on our balcony. Set up our tree...waiting to decorate until tomorrow. Cleaned out the closet that was so jammed full you couldn't open or close it anymore. I went through my suitcases and came up with a packing plan...more on that later. Hung our stockings with care and watched the finale of Making the Team: The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

And now....I'm going to bed. :rotfl2:

I hope Jen doesn't mind if I do a little update with my Christmas decorations. She has been busy with family visiting for Thanksgiving so I didn't want to bombard her with another update to make comments on. :rolleyes1

Marc & I set off on the search for the perfect Christmas tree yesterday. We weren't sure if we wanted to buy a really small potted Christmas tree, or a fake one or just a small live one.

We drove up to Concord and stopped at a few places on the way, most places wanted up to $60 for a small potted tree! EEEK. No thank you.

We decided to take a walk in one of the Historical Parks. We went to this one a few months ago and I posted pictures of it. I wanted to take a picture of myself in the same spot.

These picture are from September 5th.

I notice more of a difference in Marc then myself. Isn't that always the way? :rotfl2:

So after our walk we had to go to our inlaws to pick up our tree stand and other Christmas decorations that were in storage. Then we went to Walmart...no trees yet! Can you believe that? Then Lowes, we found one we liked but there was something about it that didn't thrill me so we passed. So we were driving home and there was a little tree stand and we found the perfect tree!

Isn't he cute?

I might have to post a picture of my tree now.....Yes, I believe it is a Fir of some kind. Sully doesn't really go around it. I don't think Ruby remembers the real tree we had two years ago when she was just a kitten so she is very curious. But she mainly just sits under it and looks up into the branches. :rotfl2:

I love the Christmas decorations. It looks so warm and cheery.Thanks. It really does. I was so happy to come home to them last night after work. :goodvibes
You are Marc are looking great! ::yes:::thumbsup2
Love your tree! It is the perfect size and is decorated beautifully!
I do a lot on the outside of my house..not so much on the inside :confused3 Ziggy doesn't like change  I have a 6 foot and 4 foot lighted palm tree and deer etc... My Florida touch ;)I found a lighted pink flamingo in Target but that might be pushing it!
Funny story...a few years ago I sold a car to a family that apparently lived around the corner from me...after looking at their drivers licenses I told them I lived on the same street...She asked "you don't live near that house that puts the palm trees out for Christmas do you?" I just chuckled and said it was my house :rotfl2:

TracyYour decorations sound awesome! Sully kitty doesn't like change either, he starts meowing like crazy but I think this year he was more interested in the smell of the Christmas tree and of course trying to escape out the door when we were bringing it in. :rotfl2:

Keep it up!

I'm loving all the Christmas decorations, and I'm pretty doggone excited about a cookie party that I'm not even going to be at, too. Pictures of that will surely continue to get us in the Christmas spirit. :dance3:
I started playing Christmas music very softly in the background for the students yesterday as they did their morning work. They were so cute singing along.

I've been listening to Christmas music too. In fact, MeMom...have you seen the new Disney Princess Christmas album? It's so adorable. I bet your girls would love it! It has the Princesses singing carols. Ariel sings two island themed songs, Pocahontas sings Silver & Gold, Mulan sings Holly & Ivy, and then there are some other ones too. My very favorite is the 12 Days of Christmas though sung by all of the Princesses!

*Winnie the Pooh
*Meet Ariel
*Mickey’s Philharmagic
*Pirates of the Caribbean
*Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse
*Carousel of Progress It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow LOL!!!!
*Tomorrowland Transit Authority
*Space Mountain Must ride! Must Ride!
*Spectro @ 7PM
*Cream Cheese Pretzel LOL Love that this is on the list...so yummy!!!!
*Lunch @ Casey’s or Pecos Bills
*The Plaza @ 5:05PM You truly do love me...I have been DYING to eat here since January!!! Thank You!!!

I am so thrilled that we will be able to partake in evening EMH’s at Magic Kingdom. I highly doubt we will stay until 1AM but it's a nice thought. Well I have faith in us...I think we can make it, we are definitely going to stay later than we did in May!!! I think we can do it!!!!!Yes, but we have plans for very early in the morning the next day. :rotfl2:

I will absolutely eat some of a cream cheese pretzel, I don’t care if I’m only able to take two bites of it. I will indulge in the pretzel yumminess once again. We can always get one and split it!!!! That way none of the yummy goodness goes to waste LOL!!!Oh I plan to share the pretzel but again, I might only be able to have two bites. :rotfl2: I’ve also really been craving Casey’s corn dog nuggets. I haven’t had a hot dog since my surgery so I need to try that out at home to make sure it agrees with me before the trip. I have found one thing that doesn’t agree with me since surgery and that is Pork. I can eat pork that is shredded but not something like a pork chop. It’s weird. I’m a little nervous about eating on vacation. Heck, I still get a little nervous when I just go out to a restaurant. I just have to remember to chew really well and eat slowly. Jen, you will have to help remind me. Okey dokey...and you have to remind me to drink lots of water LOL!!!!!! NO SODA!! I can't have soda either so that will be easy! I refuse to make myself sick in Disney! The plus side is that the sick feeling usually doesn’t last too long, it’s just very inconvenient. I agree no being sick at Disney!!! That is no fun!!!

I think our attraction list is reasonable to accomplish. I totally agree...we can do it all LOL!! You know what we forgot? Mickey & Minnie's houses! I have never been in them and I want too before they are gone! I just can’t wait to spend a day in Magic Kingdom, it truly is my happy place.

I’m a little nervous about riding Space Mountain. The last time I was on it was in 2003. I’m going to have to find some reviews of the refurb. If you need to hold my hand I will let you LOL!!!!!! I probably will! :rotfl:

I would really like to stop over at Grand Floridian and the Polynesian. I love the feel of the Poly and I have never been over to GF. NEVER BEEN TO THE GF...well we definitely need to remedy that!!! Poly is my dream monorail resort, I would love to stay there some day!!! I’d really like to get pictures of both of them but if we don’t have time it can be easily cut.

Before Jen realized she could join me, I had made a lunch ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. The first thing I thought of when she said she could come was that I had to get a dinner ADR at The Plaza. Jen is DYING to try it there and I wanted to make that happen for her. Awwwww...did I mention how much I love ya!!!! You have no idea (okay maybe you do!) how much I'm looking forward to eating here!!!! I am very very anxious to eat there YAY!!!

As a side note, I was able to get every single ADR we tried for except for one. Any guesses? Hmmmmm...I think I might know LOL :rolleyes1

I really love the size too. I am not a fan of gigantic trees. Marc was teasing me yesterday because I like the misfit trees, I fear that no one else will pick them so I want them. He wanted the one we got though and I have to say it is perfect. Mom and I were the same way. We had our share of "Charlie Brown" Christmas trees. :rotfl:

LL,

Your plans for your MK day look good. I, too, can't believe you haven't been to the GF before. The restrooms even have nicer toilet paper.:thumbsup2

I think the key to making it to the end of the EMH at MK is taking a break back at Pop which I see you have scheduled. I know it's hard to lie down and take a nap, but try. (Do i sound like a parent?)

My friend, Kim, who I went to WDW with in 08, had similar surgery. There were definitely foods she couldn't eat and greasy food in general wasn't good. She got full faster, but we still managed to eat at great restaurants and it really didn't seem to affect her all that much. Sharing food and snacks is a great idea.

Nice tree. Love the pics of Ruby with it too. Reminds me of my family's cat. As soon as the tree up than the she wants to get under it.Ruby was a little devil last night. She knocked off four ornaments and one of them has a missing hook. I'm a little concerned as Ruby likes to eat paperclips.

Mom and I were the same way. We had our share of "Charlie Brown" Christmas trees. :rotfl:Yes, I used to name them too. I lost count of how many Linus trees we had. :rotfl:

Yes, you do sound like a parent. :rotfl2: Usually I can nap pretty easily so I don't think it will be too big of a problem. I just worry about waking up the next morning. :rotfl2:

I think the key to me not getting sick will be to eat small meals/snacks a little more frequently then I do normally at home. :thumbsup2

That really is a beautiful Christmas tree you have! And it is very nicely decorated!

I love this tradition of the cookie making your mother has. I think it is small events like that which make Christmas time special. :goodvibes

And your plans look great, sounds like a fun day at the MK! :thumbsup2 I don't know wether you follow any plans, but the main MK touring plan from the unofficial guide starts with Space Mountain, then has you walk through Fantasyland, picking up the low capacity rides there and then has you continuing on to BTMRR and Splash. It really has worked well for me in the past and doesn't have too much running from here to there. BTMRR is actually still very manageable in the mornings until around 11 I think. :thumbsup2

I've been MIA and hadn't realized you were getting to go again this January. What great news. A short disney trip has a different feel to it. There seems to be less down time but it's still all good. After all it's Disney.

Love the tree. Very good advice about avoiding glass ornament. Hope you have fun decorating cookies. I just had 7 grade 6 girls in my house for a gingerbread decorating house birthday party. I was pooped afterwards. They were hyped up on sugar. But I think a good time was had by all. I'm sure your party will be a little less hyper.

I'm on it!!!

I somehow missed the post about clothes for Jan! When we were in WDW last January 3rd-12th it was actually warm. Like 75 to 85 degrees! It was pretty cool in the mornings and evenings though. I know shortly after we came home it got very cool in FL. FL in the winter seems to be fickle! It changes day to day! I think the layered thing will work fabulously for that!

Your plans look great!!! One suggesting though...

You should go to MK on the 16th!! Just saying, cause it's another diser last day in WDW and she would love to met you guys ;)

You and Marc are both looking great! Congratulations on the continued weight loss! Have you gotten your Cons yet?

Has anyone used Magical Express that late at night? Anything I need to know about it? (Yes please I'm curious about this too LOL)

I think this was all answered, but in case it hasn't - we have used ME late at night. We arrived around 11:30 pm I believe. It was not a problem. We just carried our luggage to ME and everything ran like normal. There was a tad of a wait on the bus since they waited for more people to come and they made more stops than normal it seemed to accommodate the passengers, but the ride went smooth and bonus - NO line to check in at the resort. ;)

I missed the clothing post for January too....:confused3 when we were there in later January 2008 it was COLD! Very cold! All the news channels were reporting about it being one of the coldest times in FL's history, and all the oranges were freezing. We were walking around MK with hats and mittens on.

However, after a few days of that it warmed up and was very nice after that - mid 70s.

January is pretty unpredictable from what I have read/experienced. I second the layering thing and bring pants and shorts - be prepared for it all.

You and Marc look absolutely FAB-U-LOUS!!! I see such a huge difference in you!!! I think you see the difference more in Marc because of what he's wearing and maybe your being a teeny bit critical of yourself :rolleyes1

You both doing such an amazing thing and it's great that your doing it together!!!!Thank you! You are probably right that I'm being critical of myself. I'm just too hard on myself when it comes to all of this, I never think I'm doing good enough. :rolleyes1

I am days and days behind, but I love your MK plans! And that cream cheese pretzel - I absolutely MUST get one in May. I neglected to get one in September and just the sound of it is making my stomach rumble!

So glad things are moving along in the planning department. I promise to keep up better in the future. This is the first chance I've had to Dis at work in about 2 weeks. Can you believe it????? :eek:Yes, you must get one in May, you don't know what you have been missing!

I can't believe that! What's up with being busy at work?

Great MK plans! I have never eaten at the Plaza but the reviews I have seen have all been very good.:thumbsup2 I have never had a cream cheese pretzle but now I am intrigued. I love cheese danishes so I am thinking it might be similar. You must have one, I promise you won't be disappointed. It's so very delicious. The pretzel filling is pretty similar to a cheese danish...I love those too!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was my Mom's Annual Cookie Day Party. It was a lot of fun...although some of the girls are getting into their pre-teen years and they was some tension between them and their Mom's wanting to help. Mom has decided that next year she's putting the Moms in the living room with wine while the kids decorate. I plan to be in the living with the wine. :rotfl2:

I didn't take as many pictures because I was busy decorating but the houses are super cute!

After Cookie Day, we went out to dinner with my parents for their birthdays then to see Disney's A Christmas Carol.

The 3D was amazing. I'm glad there was no little little kids in the audience because it was intense in some parts. There was one ghost of Christmas that kinda freaked me out but overall it was a really good movie.

Saw a wonderful preview of Alice in Wonderland, it looks amazing. Can't wait for March. Then I saw a preview of The Princess and the Frog and can't believe it comes out on Friday! I am so excited.

Cookie day looks like such fun! Your house came out great. But, I'm with you, next year I'd vote for the wine!

Glad you had such a fun, holiday-themed weekend! :santa:

The houses look great! I was going to let Brooklynn try one this year, but I'm not sure if one kit is any better than the other. Do you happen to have any pictures of the boxes or know what brand they were? I thought she would enjoy making one herself and then seeing some in Disney World later this month.

It's probably better for the moms to be in another room. This should be the girls' thing and the creativity their own. :)

:rotfl2: I know - I worked my butt off last week. I actually enjoyed it. It was fun, although a bit exhausting. I am much more productive when I am busy!

I checked your dates, because I am getting the urge to take a quick trip in January, but you guys are going over a holiday weekend. The flights are horrendous. I checked the price for Jan 18th - Jan 22nd and a room at ASMu is like $57 a night. That plus a $155 RT trip flight. Wow! I am seriously thinking about a solo trip! You guys leave the 19th...right? Hmmmmmmmm! Something to think about!
