You can get the free DDP w/annual pass but you have of buy at least a 1 day park pass, so I assume you could get the DDP that you are paying for and not have to even buy a 1 day pass.

Hi there! I am an AP, have been for 3 years now. I'm heading down to WDW for my 2nd trip in two months. The first one my party did have the FD and everyone needed to buy a 1 day none park hopper but here's what they don't tell you. As long as you don't use your one day ticket someone else in your party can. I went with my two cousins and one of them used my ticket that came with the FD with no problem so the ticket didn't go to waste.
Or
You can just get a room and DP discount like I am doing for my upcoming trip. Didn't need to buy tickets with the package.

If you want to buy the dining plan (OP apparently isn't after free dining), you can purchase a ticketless package for annual passholders. Just call Disney and tell them you are an annual passholder and you want the package with the dining plan and no tickets. They can even apply an annual passholder discount to the room if one is available. You must have an active annual pass when you check in - you don't need to have it to make the reservation, but you need to present it when you check in.

If you want free dining, you'll have to buy a ticket - the free dining is availalble only with room plus tickets packages where full price is paid for the room.

Thanks....that is exactly what I wanted to know before I invested in an AP!

I just didn't want to start buying 1 pay passes in the future to get it.

Just wondering, can the 1 day park ticket that you would have to buy only if you are going Free DDP (if the ticket is not used) could the value of it be put towards the purchace of the next years AP?

Yes, as already posted, but last year we went for Free Dining and I had my one day ticket on my KTTW card saved. In June 2009 when the 10% friends and family promotion came out, I was going to a convention in Tampa. I flew from NJ to MCO, drove to DTD, purchased my new AP, applying the 1 day ticket, and the 10% friends and family coupon from a current passholder. Worked great for me. Then we drove to our convention. I have used the AP in Sept and will again in Dec.
Too much information, but I wanted to share my story.

My BIL and SIL have the AP and when they went for thier birthdays (which was to be free admission) since they had the AP Disney refunded them the price of a 1 day pass.

In cash? Wow.

They're supposed to give you a gift card that was the value of a one-day pass (it could be used to purchase merchandise, but no food or tickets)

You could also apply the one-day equivalent to your annual pass renewal, but you had to do the renewal right when you presented your birthday stuff.

Would have been cool to get cash.

Probably wasn't cash, I don't know but anything the value of 1 day park pass for each of them is alright. They live in Daytona and go to Disney several times a week. They use EPCOT to do their exercise walking. Me and DW are jeolous but get there 1 or 2 times a year.
