Looking for advice from those with experience with QSDP and/or split stays...

I am an AP holder and will be using a room only rate for our August trip, assuming there is a good one. Last year we stayed moderate and we definitely saved more by using the room only rate vs. the free dining. This year I would like to stay 7 nights at POFQ then 4 nights at AKL savannah view. (I can't afford AKL all 11 nights!)

My son is 10 years old and he is starting to eat like crazy. He has always been a healthy eater, prefers salads to sweets and pitches a fit when the freezer doesn't have a good store of brussel sprouts in it.:confused3

Anyway, now he cannot get full and I am not kidding you, he is snacking all the time. He will eat just about anything and will now eat sweets from time to time. Basically, he just needs food all the time. And he is still a skinny kid so I can see that he using the fuel he is consuming (just growing UP).

I am thinking about adding the QSDP because we can eat a meal when he is hungry and he can snack more. Last trip we paid out of pocket used the % off at TS and that was great, but I think the QSDP will work better and be cheaper as long as we are able to seek out some salads and vegetables.

Also, we drink a lot of water and I am hoping that we can substitute water for some of our cs desserts and then use snack credits for better sweets like the dole whip.

Also, we do buy a mug for each of us every trip, so it will be nice to have that included.

The main reason I am leaning towards QSDP, though is that I don't want to tell my son "no" or "wait" when he is "starving"!

The one negative is that I will miss having some TS. I am considering adding just one. Maybe Trail's End because it is so much fun to eat there and then head over to see Chip and Dale and do the Campfire and Movie. (that would cost us about $50 OOP, including tip)

If we booked the QSDP for POFQ and AKL then we would end up with two more mugs!! Would they let us substitute something else for them?

Nope, no substitute for the mugs that I know of. You can ask.

You would be able to get an AP rate if one is available, but you cannot book a room only reservation and add dining. You would have to book a ticketless package for annual passholders. This is a package reservation - the rules for cancellation, deposit and changing packages is different from those for room-only reservations. But you would be able to apply the AP rate to the package if there is one.

At least your son is 10 and can order from adult menus - he wouldn't get a lot of salad on the kids' menus.
