We're headed down the second week of Dec & have a reservation for Toyko Dining. Has anyone eaten there using the Dining Plan? Most of the menu has prices like "$6.50 for two pieces" or something similar. So are you able to order a couple of things using the plan, or are you better off ordering something like the Bento Box? TIA!

I ate here via FDP in October. as far as sushi is concerned your only choices are
Sushi Combination - Tuna, Yellowtail, Salmon, Shrimp, Masago and 4 pieces of California roll. - $18.95
or
Sushi Deluxe - Tuna, yellowtail, salmon, Isumi-dat, shrimp, conch, squid, egg omelet, salmon roe, and 3 pieces of Tuna roll. - $23.95
or
Ginza Gozen - Tempura and sushi combination. - $23.50

There is a picture of my dinner the Ginza Gozen which came with two shrimp and 4 california rolls. I was halfway through when i realized I forgot to take picture! But my cousin had the Sushi Deluxe and said it was good. We're both sushi lover's and like to try more exciting type rolls other then the old standby's .No al a carte sushi unless you want to pay OOP. Over all though the meal itself was good. So my suggestion would be something like Gina Gozen or Bento Box. But it also depends on what you feel like eating. But enjoy your trip and meals!

Been to Tokyo Dining several times on the DDP. The OP is correct, just two entree dishes from the sushi menu are available, the Combination and the Deluxe. Both offer very good variety but you can't pick & choose what goes into those plates.
The other menu, offering tempura dishes, grilled items, and the Ginza Gozen (sushi/tempura combo), and the Bento Box can all be ordered on the DDP as an entree.
Any other small sushi plates we just paid for OOP and had them as an appy.

so can you just tell them what you want as your entree on the plan, and then add other sushi items for OOP expenses?

The dining plan will not cover a la carte sushi items at all, you will need to pay for those.
