Not booked on that cruise, but we have the same two staterooms! Hope you enjoy your trip and please post your feelings on the room category and virtual portholes. We have sailed on DCL 4 times, but our first trip on the Dream and booked this category for the virtual portholes (usually take a verandah).
we have 9079 when we go in Oct 2011....we are doing a b2b cruise with the same rooms.

I was so excited when they released the points charts. I'm one of those crazy people that uses points to cruise b/c my DH isn't a big Disney fan like myself. The first thing that popped into my head was whoa, I might have enough points to book the Fantasy next year if the points are in line (obviously higher if it's a 7 nighter) with the Dream.
I can't cruise on the MV due to work restrictions at that time of year, so I'll be anxious to hear (and hopefully see) what people report back.

I just booked our first cruise ever for this sailing!!! We just got back from WDW a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to go back!! I don't think I can wait that long!!!
It's also hard to plan that far out in advance because there is always the chance that my DH could get called up (he's military). So I'm holding out hope that these dates end up working out.
We've got cabin 7675 which is kind of cool because that's mine and DH's birth years and we'll be celebrating our 35th birthdays. :woohoo::banana:

Hey! Fellow Louisiana folks! :goodvibes
Nice to see a few more Disers are going the same time we are. I'm a teacher and will likely have to take the last week of school off for this trip. I haven't broken the news to my co-workers yet. :rolleyes1 But my little pre-k kiddos will have gone home for the last time the Friday before so it's doable. This will probably be the last cruise we will take with all 4 of our younger 4 kids still at home. Still hoping my oldest son and his family will join us but so far they haven't booked.
We are counting down to our next trip to WDW in March right now so I'm not getting too wired about this trip yet. After March, that count down will begin for sure!

Husurdady - I will be very jealous come the 26th when the 2nd half of your trip starts! Is the 2nd half a 3 day or one of the new 5 day cruises?
Any guesses on when they'll release more information on the new ships? I just watched one of the old Disney Cruise shows on the travel channel and I'm dying to get more info on the Dream. I know they're holding out to keep us excited, but I'm ready.

My mother posted earlier about it being my birthday on the cruise (this is her DD :tink: ) but I have a question.
I'm bringing my boyfriend :lovestruc with us, and he is really picky about his attire. He's not a polo/kahki/slacks type of person, more of a structured button down shirt/dark sleek jeans type of person. I know the attire is dress casual, and I've been on both the magic and wonder, it's just me personally, I would never wear jeans and such to dinner.
What do you think about his attire? He says he will dress nicely when going to Palo, so I'm just more worried about the dining, because I don't want to be one of those people who A) looks out of place because he can't dress properly, or B) not eat at the restaraunts since it will be the first time being on this ship.
Please help?
I've seen the outfit he wants to wear, and it's an outfit that does look very nice, and we usually go out to eat to Olive Garden with him wearing it. (Not comparing Olive Garden standards to Disney standards at all though.)
I apologize now that I tend to ramble. LOL.

Husurdady - Very nice :thumbsup2 Does your son live in FL? I take it that's where she lives if she's working for DVC, though I could be wrong. More importantly, does she have any good insider information to share with your son or the rest of your family? Dinners must be interesting, I'd probably talk her ear off the whole meal.
AAOSAM2 - Hmmmm I've been on the Magic and Wonder and the only restaurant that I think you'd have a problem with would be Palo, which I think you said wasn't an issue b/c he'd dress up for that. Also, if there was a formal night, which I doubt there will be on a 3, 4 or 5 night cruise on the Dream. I did also read that there may be a 2nd adult only restaurant like Palo, so that too may require different attire. I wouldn't sweat it out, you'll probably never see the other cruisers again, so if they look at you funny, look right back ;)

Hello fellow cruisers! I am the daughter of AAOSAM2 (who posted a question earlier) well... I have another question, if anyone could please answer. =]
So, I'm turning 21 on the second day of our cruise (which is why I'm going :cool1: ) and I was curious. Will they know of my birthday?
Like, I've been reading that something on the KTTW card has something about age on it. Does that mean it will say 20? or my birthday? If it has my age, would I have to go to the desk on my birthday (at midnight of course haha) and have them change it so I can have my 21st drink at Skyline or what is it, Pink?
I'm just so confused. It's been about 3-4 years since my last cruise, and I can't remember anything about the KTTW card.
Any insight would be FANTASTIC.

I have 2 daughters as well...mine will be 7 and 13 at the time of the cruise. I have some reservations about letting my oldest go in the teen club. She is mildly autistic and has problems with "social" settings and getting to know other people. I wish they would let her go back into the club setting. I felt more comfortable with her there knowing that she was supervised and that she couldn't leave without one of us signing her out.

Sorry for being MIA, it's tax season and it's getting the best of me
I'll be happy once April 16th arrives, or we get some more dirt on the Dream. I did see a post somewhere that showed the new quiet cove pool which may have a swim up bar of some sort and Goofy's area with possible mini golf, which might be fun.
Enjoy your dinner and let me know how it goes popcorn::

I too am close in age, I always have to think about it, but I'll be 34 when we cruise. For some reason after I turned 30, it takes me a while to remember how old I am, though I swear my memory just isn't as clear since I had my son. He'll be almost 2 when we cruise, so we'll be checking out the nursery as opposed to the teen clubs, but they do look really cool, especially the outside section with water sprays, etc.
Happy a great weekend everyone :goodvibes

Hi mylittlprincess,
I actually don't have facebook, though maybe I should say yet. I spend so much time on email and the boards that I'm afraid that I'd get absolutely no work done if I had facebook to keep me occupied as well.
Maybe I'll break down and join, but it probably won't be until after tax season if I do.
Are you excited for your trip on the Magic? Have you been on the Magic or Wonder before? We're trying a non-flight trip with my son in May to Disney's Hilton Head, which is as close as we'll get to seeing Mickey until next May on the cruise. There aren't any characters there, but I'm sure there are plenty of hidden Mickey's.

Hi
I am on the April 17 4 day DREAM right now but realize this might be spring break for most kids in America.... so I am thinking of switching to this cruise date. I turn 40 on the week before... however, only myself and my 6 yr old dd will be on this cruise, so I want to be home for my 40th with my hubby, ds (2.5), ds (4) and dd(14).
We have booked another DREAM 4-day in October already for the whole family... I just wanted to do something with my youngest dd.
I will know tomorrow if we can switch...

Hi there everyone! My boyfriend and I just booked this cruise tonight - we watched the Disney Cruise Line special on the Travel Channel, and while I've wanted to go on a cruise for a while (and actually already have two b2b booked with my family on the Dream in August 2011), this made him want to go on a cruise too.
So today, I showed him the video on the Disney website of the Dream, and he was like "Oh my god... how much is this?" So we looked up the maiden voyage prices, and our jaws dropped - sooo much. But then we checked spring break, and when we saw 800$, we freaked out.... and thus, several hours later, we are now booked for May (we didn't know when our spring break was, so we just picked a date we knew we'd already be out of school by.)
We decided to do the 4 day, because even though it's more expensive (by a lot), that extra day probably makes a huge difference with how much you get to do.
We are me, Danica (20 by the cruise), and DBF, Lou (21 by the cruise... my baby's growing up!!!). We will be celebrating our 4 year anniversary, because it is on May 31st.
Our room is GTY 11B right now, and we're not really picky, so we'll just leave it as that. We could have done the oceanview, but I actually am excited about the virtual porthole... :rotfl: I love Peach!

When we would go there, we would always stay at the Jack Huff Motor Lodge, the only hotel left w/a diving board at the pool, they said when it broke, no more because of higher insurance. Some how it was" grand-fathered in",so they could keep it. ........ and you guessed it you had to turn left at stop light # 3. :lmao:

I guess if you don't know you're numbers, you're just screwed in Gatlinburg then, lol!!! We stay at the Greystone Lodge at the Aquarium. It is right on the parkway and close to lots of things so we can just walk instead of having to get out in the traffic and/or pay to park. We are planning on going back in June for a night or two, without the kiddos, to celebrate our anniversary. I would much rather do a Disney cruise without the kids to celebrate, but that is just not in the budget right now!! Maybe next time.

I did book with points. They told me that I would be charged the $95 if I added my niece. Of course, I did not realize that until I had already made the reservation or I would have waited until I knew that she was definitely going with us before calling.
Thanks for the info. I will PM loveysbydesign.
I read through the boards before booking with points and basically decided that the points were there to use and we were not planning another trip at the time so I used them. It is nice to book a cruise for only $95 (twice in my case).

My DH is not as big a Disney fan as I am, so we use our points to cruise as well. He's not into going to WDW every year, so I try to change it up with Disney cruises, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland CA, WDW and Hilton Head (which is now less than 2 weeks away :cool1:).
Some people don't think it's a good use of points, but I agree with you on paying $95 for a cruise.
Now, I just need convince him that cruising on the Fantasy is 2012 is something "different". Spending $95 on a cruise certainly is a good selling point ;)

I have never cruised before or I would take the position. I graciously decline since I am a newbie. I am sure that after this cruise we will be hooked, so maybe I will lead the next cruise.
I did notice that we are at the front of the ship. Is that room different from the mid-ship? Is the porthole facing to the side or to the front? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Again, I am a newbie.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself. You've already met my husband, Johnny Quest.
Sounds like we have a great group so far. It will be our first cruise and we too really can't wait!!!
We've got adjoining cabins with the "iron man" our son, who incidentally turned 21 while sailing on the Wonder last month so feel free to hit him with any questions Hippie 524.
I know we signed up for the FE - any idea how many are in so far?
We too are DVC members (used points as well for this voyage!) And big fans of the DIS.
Looks like this is a major celebration cruise! JQ's BD is embarkation day. (he's gonna kill me for that little disclosure!)

Yo Dady! While you and your much better half are airbound, Johnny and Poison will be soakin up the sun in the Golden State. Who knows might end up at the Left coast version of the Food and Wine fest which is happening as we speak. Or maybe brunch at the Del Coronado, haven't decided yet. Your right - LIFE IS GOOD. I threw that card away last year, Husurdady. Good guess though. I will turn 52 on our cruise and it's good to meet cruisers from my generation. The anticipation keeps building and the only way to alleviate it is to "check-in" at a Disney resort. Have fun at OKW, we like that resort. If Poison and I are up for it on Sat. we can do the Food and Wine at the "Land". Life is what we make it - it gets better with age!

THIS is some seriously great news! After rumors going around that Pirates 4 might not start filming for a while, or might not happen at all, the official announcement has been made by Walt Disney Pictures that the film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will be released to theaters on May 20, 2011.

Depp will return!! Bloom and Knightley will not!

Just got off the Wonder about 6 hours ago from our first cruise (and our 30th wedding anniversary! 5/25). While on board, booked for this (5/22/2011) cruise. Will have to read all this thread, but we checked in to Jambo house and we're getting settled then out to a park.
Had a fun time with FE and meet up, but as usual, had a mixup or two (and someone that wasn't on the list that just hung up a FE trolling for stuff I guess!)

Kris, well this time we will just have to make a point to meet! What are the odds of us both booking the same cruise twice!! I ended up meeting Miztigg from the last board at the adult pool on our cruise along with her husband and she was lots of fun to talk with! We met up with them twice at the pool as they were without kids and spent alot of time there. That was where we spent a ton of our time as well. The green wristbands made it easy to identify people from our board. That is what prompted me to start up a conversation with her! I'm very anxious to get on the Dream and look forward to many months of planning!
In the meantime, we are planning our next trip to WDW staying at Boardwalk Villas for Food and Wine from Oct. 31-Nov.8. Adults only on this trip too! Hi mjmahnke, welcome to the cruise. My wife and I, and friends will be at the Boardwalk Villas/Bay Lake Towers from 10/28- 11/2. About 8-10 in our group, all adults, 1 adult son. We love to visit during Halloween. It's such a great time. Looking for costumes now. Will you be attending MNSSHP on the 31st?
No, we actually got a Boardwalk View room and want to spend the night on the balcony hopefully getting to see some pretty crazy Halloween Costumes. We will be decorating our balcony too!!

thanks for the info. will she let me know when she gets my info so i will know what i need to do.
I'm sure she will. Once loveysbydesign has a final list compiled she will post it for everyone, so you will know exactly who you are giving gifts to, and what cabins they are staying in. You deliver your gifts to each cabin and place them in the appropriate pocket on their fish extender. Each person in that cabin will have a pocket. Sometimes couples share one. This is our first time also. Our son cruised in April and enjoyed it very much. If you need some ideas just ask.

For children we've given colored pencils, small coloring/activity books, hair clips, fake tinkerbell nails, etc. There were mostly little girls on my son's cruise. Adult gifts included foam drink coosies(they keep your bottle or can cool), Disney washclothes, and puzzle books. I've heard that alot of people give home made gifts, or gifts pertaining to their home state/town. You can find good ideas on the boards also.

By the way, is anyone traveling with little ones? I saw some renderings of the new splash area on the Dream and it looks really cute and fun for them.
I also saw the ones of the quiet cove adults only pool and bar and that looks cool too.
We are. Mine will be 8, 6, and 4 when we cruise.

Good morning ladies & gents. Tngal, I was just checking this "board" to see if anything was "new" with anyone. I'm already counting days as I'm sure you all are. It just seems so far away. We already had our BIG vacation this year a couple of weeks ago with 5 nights at WDW and then the 3 night Wonder cruise.
We'll have to do a couple of small trips to fill in the time. We usually go to Myrtle Beach for a few days over New Years and I'll schedule a long weekend at the Jersey shore sometime this fall. But I don't know what I'll do for the 5 months between January and May!!
Hope you all have a great weekend and

Great to hear from you! I know what you mean about passing the time until our cruise date, it always seems to take forever, then when it arrives, it flies by!!! I have a few things going on in between to take my mind off of it lol. I am expecting a great-nephew in October and so im planning a baby shower for august, then we have our first trip to WDW in Feb. to plan for as well. not to mention youngest dd's bday in december and school activities as well!
Just wondering...does anyone know if we have a FE list for everyone that is cruising and participating in the FE so far?

You're lucky Jim - we're about 5 1/2 hours from Cape May. We usually stay in Wildwood Crest because the rooms there are a bit cheaper, then we spend a fair amout of time at Cape May. DH likes the outdoor deck of the Lobster House for supper at least once while we're there, and also to stock up on some seafood to bring home.

We celebrated our DS's high school graduation in '06 in N. Wildwood. Had a place right on the beach. The Lobster House really hooked us up with seafood for our family dinner. They do a great job. Every once in a while we do a day trip to the beach, it's nice.

As of 6/30/10 So far we have 19 adults and 13 kids!
Also we need to decide how many people we'd like to limit the FE"s to! If there are too many it could get to be too expensive to do and take too much time!
loveysbydesign

Loveysbydesign and all:
I haven't committed to the FE because I was waiting to see how many were participating. We are flying in and will be limited in space as to what I can carry. I was going to suggest maybe splitting the participating staterooms into 2 groups. That would make it a little easier financially and also for transporting the FE gifts. Just a thought. Let me know what you think.:goodvibes No problem if it wouldn't work that way though, I just go with the flow.

Haven't stayed at POFQ, but have spent many stays at Riverside and walked around FQ. There is only one large pool at the center courtyard area of the resort. It is the pool with the dragon slide. The resort has attractive grounds and the pool area looks nice also. It is smaller than Riverside, but you can use the areas of both resorts as they are "sister" resorts.

Hey everyone!! Just thought i'd drop in and catch up. I haven't been on in a while, as i've been taking care of my DH. He was involved in a serious burn accident at work on Thursday morning and had to be sent to Augusta,Ga to the burn hospital there. He has 2nd degree burns on the chest, back and both arms.Keeping him in your thought and prayers would be greatly appreciated. I've always been the one with health issues and him the caregiver, but this time roles are reversed and its been pretty hard for me to see him hurting like this. I have been reminding him of our upcoming DCL cruise and dd's birthday trip to WDW in Feb. and that always seems to lighten the moment up for a while :)

We got our 11c gty. cabin assignments already!
I have to say I was excited to see them until I realized we are not in connecting cabins with my in-laws. We booked gty 11c as we had to bump our date from May 15th to the 22nd(we changed it back in Dec). Almost all the inside cabins are connecting on the Dream.
We do have connecting cabins but not to each other...to other people. I think that's strange that we got 2021 and 2015. We have one cabin booked as me, mil and my dd and one as my dh, fil and 2 ds's(we had rebooked while onboard). We then planned to have me and dh together in one room with 2 kids and then the kids could take turns each having a turn in grammy and poppy's cabin.
My in-laws are not gonna be too happy, especially since one of our kids will be sleeping with them. They'll have to go back and forth down the hall...oh well, at least we're on the same floor! Plus it's their 1st cruise and I'm sure they'll survive...even if I have to listen to my mil gripe about it!
Maybe we'll get some pixie dust sprinkled on us before the cruise and end up getting connecting ones!
