Hi there - My DMIL lives about an hour from WDW and will be coming to visit us in February for 2-3 days (split up) and one night. We are doing the DDP for our family, but what are my options for adding her or not adding her to our reservation? From what I can gather these are my choices. Please enlighten me if I am wrong:

1) Add her to the reservation now and use the DDP credits for her while she's there. Use the additional credits for the rest of the family while she's not there.

2) Add her to the reservation after we check in so that she is not on the DDP. Is this 'legal'?

I'm a big rule follower, so I'm not at all looking to break any rules here. Just hoping to find out what my options are since she'll only be there for max of 3 of our 8 days. We are big table service eaters, so it probably won't be a big problem to use up the extra TS credits.

Thanks!

This is a topic that was discussed in depth on one of the other boards. If you want your MIL to have a room key, she'll need to be added on the reservation, which means you'll need to get the DDP for her. That would be the way to handle it in Disney's eyes.

There are all sorts of other creative ways that you could handle it, but you said that you just wanted to do it correctly. The rules are that if you get the DDP you get it for the total number of occupants in the room for the duration of your stay.

Hi Alison - Can you point me to that thread? I tried to do a thorough search today and did not find much information about a situation like this.

Thanks.

Actually it was the Yahoo Group dvctalk. If you're not a member you can sign up and search the Yahoo posts. As I remember it, some people were quite irritated that the original poster would consider "sneaking people in", and others also alluded that they had done. Those who did the "sneaking" argued that Disney made too much money on DDP, so they had the right to have others stay over in their room and not list them on the reservation.

It got so heated that some people took it in the opposite direction, joking about staying at AKV and letting the animals come to a party in your room!

If you do join that group, I can point you to the thread. I was one of the ones poking fun at the animals!

Well, I posted this on DVC b/c we are DVC members and do not have to buy tickets with our DDP. I guess, if I get any responses here, that would have to be considered. Thanks!

1) Add her to the reservation now and use the DDP credits for her while she's there. Use the additional credits for the rest of the family while she's not there.

That would be a cool way to "splurge" a bit on yourselves, imo. Maybe use it on a dinner show or signature TS.
And perfectly within the rules.
