We will be on the Dining Plan in 18 days. This is the 2nd time using the plan. We will be eating breakfast most days in our cabin, having lunch at a counter rest. and dinner in a table service rest. Our problem last trip was using snack credits. Our kids are not big snackers esp with a decent size meal. We ate lunch around 12 and our dinner adrs are around 6.

How do you use up snack credits? Last trip most of our credits were used for water, stuff we needed in the resort (like milk), and a popcorn or two in the evening. We had about 15 out of 28 snack credits left over on our last day and used them to buy snacks for the airplane and home. This year will probably be worse because my daughter is now on the plan so that means more credits. This year 8 nights/5 people will give us 40 snack credits.

Thanks for listening.
Joe

There isn't anything wrong with using them for drinks or bottled water. Some DDP users think that's a waste of the credit because there are plenty of snacks that cost more than beverages do (a bottled soda or water is $2.50), but it's better than not using the credit at all.

We find that usually just the meals alone are enough to keep us pretty full too, so we use a majority of our snack credits on water. As others have said, not the best use of the credits, but better than letting them go to waste.

I would try to use some on fresh fruit. You can grab an apple or orange and put them in your bag for later. I know, again not the best use of those credits. But I agree with you, its difficult to use them all up!!!

Oh, as I submitted that I just had a great thought! Since you are going before Christmas, maybe grab some small bags of candy or something like that for Christmas presents. It might be a good stocking stuffer or gift for someone.

I was looking on one of the other posts and I know some people get candy, I think you might be able to get the small boxed cookies too. (mentioned Goofys @ downtown disney)

I'd use them on things that are in packets! (candy, cookies, mickey pretzels) and that way you can little bits of magic at home!

I'd love that many snack credits!! All that ice cream!!! :goodvibes

I agree it could be hard to use the snack credits since you are already getting a lot of food and you will be in a cabin with cooking options. It's good to hear there are still kids that are not big eaters.

You can use snack credits for some breakfast items that you bring back to the room.

For example cinnamon roles at main street bakery, or pastries in France or Norway in epcot.

If you have enough room in your bags and won't have to pay extra then bringing back stuff works well.

My friends made this mistake on their recent trip though and did not know they had to pay for the extra bag when flying. I think it was $30 so in the end they would have been better off not getting the snacks at all. So just keep that in mind.

I would buy stuff that could come home with me either for ourselves or as souvenirs for family members/friends. Anything candy wise that is cute like suckers or the Mickey rice crispie treats. What Disney accepts as a snack credit does change so you may have to check me on this.

Be cautious when selecting packages of multiple items like bags of candy, as snack credits are applicable only to single servings. Some packages might be considered multiple servings.

I totally agree with this. Also, if you consider how much you spend on water/drinks it isn't a waste at all. Only if you know are going to end up buying things OOP in addition to your credits, would it make sense to try and get "best value". Best value is something you need, want and will use ... IMHO. ;)

We used ours primarily on ice cream or fruit cups. The few left I used for the large lollipops at the gift shop, they're light and small to carry and can be used as a special treat or a stocking stuffer.

We had quite a few snack credits left over too. Not a problem, we used them for lollipops, fudge, and rice crispy treats to bring home on the last day. Enjoy!!!

We have water shipped to the hotel as I had using snack credits for water but we really enjoy our "free shopping trip" on our last day using up lots and lots of snack credits to take treats home for friends and family. We NEVER waste them!

Unless we are going during the Food and Wine Fest. and most SC used up at the booths, We use most of our SC at breakfast on cinnamon rolls or blueberry muffins.

Bagels, muffins, pastries for breakfasts (like others have said).

Also, we do a lot of the apples with dip, and veggie sticks (carrots/celery) with dip as snacks too. I'll get those when they are an option (usually at a resort) as a side to a QS meal...something healthy to add to the mix.

We also use snack credits to pick up some cut up fruit - both at the resort and in the parks. My kids are always up for fresh fruit.

Lastly, we like to use them for the frozen slushy drinks on the really hot days. So refreshing in the FL heat!

Leftover credits - we like to buy things to bring home for lunch boxes!

We usually use them for a quick breakfast. There are lots of things you can get for breakfast with just one snack credit -Muffins, pastries, individual packages of cereal with a carton of milk, fruit cups, yogurt....... We also enjoy bringing packaged treats home with us!!!

We do the deluxe plan, which often doesn't leave us very interested in snacking between meals. We share a lot of the "highlight" snacks, like 1 Dole Whip or 2 kaki-goris for the 5 of us, and we use quite a few on bottled water, juice, and fruit. What we have left, we get to-go; character cookies, Mickey ear rice crispy treats, and other Disney goodies that travel well make for fun souvenirs for the kids' friends. On one trip, we had enough snack credits leftover that the kids brought home Mickey ears rice crispy treats for their entire classes!
