Does anyone know if they will accommodate vegetarian children meals (cheese, eggs, milk ok) at sit down or even counter locations? I have never purchased the DDP before because of two reasons - first the veg meals are normally not the priciest so may not be a good value and second the children's menu hardly ever has a vegetarian option.
I'm considering it this time since we have lots o' family going and many of them want to do character meals. I'm not worried about the buffets but come on I need an option that is not chicken fingers, spaghetti w/meat sauce, or a burger!!

If you look at Allears Menus (http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm) most of the places offer one vegetarian choice or a meal that could easily be altered to become vegetarian. Usually grilled cheese or pasta.
If one is not presented I am sure they would accommodate him within reason - ie. CRT has MahiMahi with rice or Chicken with pasta and cheese ask them for extra pasta leave off the MahiMahi or chicken if he doesn't eat fish. The meal comes with green beans and a yogurt parfait if you wish.
Hope this helps some. :)

All character meals are either buffet or family style all you can eat, so you won't have any problem with those. You can also likely make vegetarian substitutions at TS palces. Where you are going to have trouble is the CS meals. You might ask for a substitution for a vegetarian child. Disney might not accommodate what it considers a "lifestyle choice" the way they would accommodate allergies or medical conditions, but it won't hurt to ask and hope the dining plan doesn't further restrict you.

Definitely worth thinking about more! I mean, if it will work out for your benefit with the adults on the plan then that's good, it'll make up for the lower value with the child, but if all of you tend to order the lower value foods, definitely run the numbers.
Since DH and I normally split meals and the PB&J sandwiches seem to be Uncrustables for kids which are absolutely not OK for us (corn syrup and HFCS are forbidden in our household), we're pretty much on the "we don't think the plan is going to work out in our benefit" side. Still running numbers though...we have 13 months, LOL.

We have a difficult time with my dd being a vegetarian at WDW. To be honest, she lives on basically Mac-n-cheese, grapes, and french fries. :rolleyes1
She doesn't like PB& J, but even if she did, those crustables are gross, we only eat wheat bread at home anyway. She doesn't care for grilled cheese, so we are actually doing the ddp b/c she can get a better meal at TS than CS. All the places we are choosing are either buffet which has more choices for her or they have mac-n-cheese or some noodle on the menu that I think they will make for her.
I have found TS restaurants to be MUCH easier to eat at than CS.

Most CS places have PB&J or mac n cheese - some places have cheese pizza. POP food court has pasta!
Just watch the menus carefully and choose places where there is something she likes and can eat!

I think pizza planet offers a salad kids meal.
Call disney dining and ask what the options are for CS.
When you are at a CS ask what the options are.
They are pretty accomodating to most people.
I'm with your daughter on the uncrustables....pretty darn gross.

There are quite a few CS places that have the kid's chicken salad. Off the bat I can tell you that Columbia Harbor House, Pecos Bills and Liberty Inn have them on the menu. You can ask them to leave off the chicken and sub some cheese instead. They are usually unable to accommodate requests for items not strictly on the kids menus though - for example, a child portion of an adult meal. I suspect this is less to do with the ability to do this and a lot to do with needing to maintain some kind of control of requests to enable them to be consistent in what they can and cannot offer to do for you. During busy times I am sure many people would request this just for the sake of some variety and the consequences for the staff (and guests waiting in line are obvious). Also, I eat a lot of salads and noticed that these are often pre-made in those clear plastic tubs so that would make it awkward for them to try and do a custom made version of the meal.
You could always split your adult meal and the child's meal between the two of you for some variety, but if you like some non veg form of protein in your food, this wouldn't work.
As with most things, with Disney dining, preparation is the key to success ad only the extremely easy going eaters need not do any research ahead of time to find restaurants that suit their requirements. On the allears website if you click on the dining tab and scroll down, looking on the extreme left of the page, there is a section on special diets and this includes one on vegetarian dining at Disney. There are some reviews and pictures on there too so that will give you a general idea of how you can expect things to be on the other side .... I don't know if it is totally up to date - I read it about a year ago, so it depends on whether anyone else has posted new info.
