I've been reading some of your posts and also trip reports from people with teenagers. One common thread-You seem to really dislike hanging out with your parents!!!! Is this true for the majority of teenagers? My son will be 11 and I'm wondering how long he will want to hang out with us, his parents, and if he will even want to go to Disney World with us when he is 13 or 14, let alone 16 or 17!!!!

If it was just the family, i wouldn't mind going with my parents. But since in my family there are 5 kids, each one has their own opinion on WDW. The 4 older children (18,16,15,12) would rather go off on their own and do all the big rides like the mountians and such. While my younger sister (10) is not a really big fan of drops and fast rides will go with my mom and dad.

Usually when we go to places like WDW it is usually my mom and the 4 younger kids(my dad and older brother dont really like parks). I dont have a problem with hanging out with my mom, shes cool and fun to be with.

I am 16 and an only child, so when we head to Orlando I am with my parents for 99% of the vacation. I really don't mind it, and certainly enjoy the Disney vacation. My father and I are usually the ones who ride the larger attractions. (RnR, ToT etc.) My mother enjoys the parades and shows a bit more than the rides.

Even though I would like to have someone my own age with me, I certainly don't mind hanging out with my parents. :earsboy:

I really don't mind being w/ my family at wdw. (my parents and 2 brothers, ages 12 and 8). If i took a friend along then we would probably go off on our own, but if it's just my family, I usually stick w/ them because i don't like to go off by myself. Sometimes my 12-year old brother and i go off alone to ride the thrill rides, but usually we just all go together.

My Mom and i go off alot from the boys an ddo our own thing in WS...like watch Si Xiang and the France movie! :p
I love meeting people from the boards and hanging out with them though!

I don't like going to WDW with just my family (parents and bro). I haven't done that in a couple years, I prefer going with my family AND friends. But I can't wait til it's just friends :)

I like walking with my family. But since I am an only child, WDW is kinda boring with just my parents. My mom's a chicken and my dad can't ride alot of rides due to medical conditions. So things like Space Mountain and TOT are kinda dull without any friends there with me. When we go I typically spend half the day with my folks and the rest just me and whoever goes w/ me. My parents like the time alone too because they can go see the things the "thrill seeking teenagers" don't wanna see! In the end we all have a great time and enough time together! :p

i stick with my parents. It's better than spending my own money :)

We stick together for most of the day and at night is when we separate. Besides, you woulnd't believe some of the interesting conversations you have while in line. And it's always fun to impress them with your knowledge of hidden mickeys.

I went through a period around 12 or 13 where I wouldn't go anywhere near my parents in public places. But then I realized that people weren't making fun of me for having parents. My parents definitely weren't the embarrassing kind. Now we go on two different kinds of WDW trips. The ones where I take friends and the ones where I don't. When I go with my friends we split up and go ride the big rides like RnRC, TOT, the mountains etc. When I go with my parents we go see the shows and parades etc. My mom can't do much cuz she's in a wheelchair and my dad gets motion sickness. So we just do the quieter things and that's fine with me cuz now I like hanging out with my parents. So, don't dispair!

I have always wanted to do my own thing... I finely got to so what i wanted when i was 15 and now i am 16. It is nice because i get to do everything i want! and that would be hanging out! But i am still like that! like if you take me to WDW i will be in the same place... but if i want to do rides i go with my family but i am usally by my self. The bad part is i have to pay for everything!

:smooth: I guess it just depends on how well your child gets along withyou, I mean when I go to Universal, or Disney, I love being with my family and stuff, some people dont...but I mean if my friends are there, yea I want to be with them b/c I see my family all the time and can see them anytime, you dont always get to see your friends:rolleyes:

I never really did the typical teenage rebellion/wanting to get away from parents thing. I suppose if I was ever lucky enough to go to WDW with friends, I would certainly hang out with them instead of my family. But in general, I get along with my parents and we have a pretty good relationship.

I'm 14 and every year we go I hang out with my parents and I really don't mind. I love them! My dad is so fun to hang out with because as soon as he steps into the park he becomes the BIGGEST kid I have ever seen.My little brother(10) likes to swim at the pools rather than be at the parks so I get to spend a lot of time with my dad while my mom is with my brother. This year how ever I get to take a friend down and walk through the parks just with him. Although I think that at some point I will have to hang with my family and expically(sp?) ride the Haunted Mansion with my dad it is a tridition(sp?)
