We are a family of 6, myself, DH, DS 11, DS8, DD6 and DS 1 1/2 (Now ages...). Just added the 10/13/11 3 Night to make this trip our first official DCL B2B vacation...Still in a bit of shock we are doing two cruises at once, but 15th Anniversary for DH and I, why not?!?! :rotfl:

Awesome! Seems to be a lot of B2Bs being booked on this ship and I can't say that I blame people. If It worked out nicer on vacation times I would've done a summer B2B for all that CC time, but I'll take what I can get. My first B2B, too. I've been meaning to search here to see how they handled it.

Yes the deposit is $200 p/p. So the deposit would be $600 for 3 people on the reservation.
I rebooked on the Wonder for our 2 cruises in 2011 and it was only $100/ deposit per person.

If I were you, I would still book Palo for yourself and then when you get on board, go and ask if your son can join you as they may allow it if he is almost 18 (like the allow kids 2.5 and up in Oceaneer's Club if they are potty-trained).
I am sure he is mature enough to go to an adult restaurant with you.

So far, we've booked a stateroom, a friend and her family have booked one, her mom and stepdad have booked one, my mom, dad and grandma have booked one, and one of my sisters and her family have booked one. Another sister is supposed to be booking next month, and my 3rd sister may or may not be going with us. Either way, it's going to be a blast!

I am excited about doing a fish-extender exchange and lots of other fun stuff with my fellow DISers! Only 500+ days to go!!

Evening all ... we're booked on this one too. They'll be me and my partner Mick in one cabin then our friends Tina, DH Nigel and DD Elle in another. Elle will be 13 at the time of the sailing and I'm sure she'd be interested in emailing other cruisers if they're around the same age.

Have just come off the Med Repo (Dover-Barcelona) and had a ball .. Mick and I are also on the maiden voyage of the Dream in January .. I'll be sure to report back here first to give you all the juicy gossip!

I just can not wait for this thread to get really rolling.

FE exchanges are great. Basically you hang a sort of 'shoe organiser' outside of your door from the metal fish (this is where they put your daily Navigator/activities paper). People decorate their Fish Extenders to make them personal .. I'll try to find a picture of mine so you can see.

I don't know how this one will be run, but the norm is for everyone to be given a set day to deliver their presents. If there's lots of people, sometimes the list can be split to make smaller groups, or sometimes you just have 2 people delivering on each day.

Presents can be anything small and light (think of those luggage allowances!) .. perhaps something from your home town, homemade gifts or anything really!!

We love FE .. some of the gifts we received last week were fab :thumbsup2

We have luckily booked the same 2 cabins for both cruises for our B2B. So, as I have been told by CM, our rooms reservations will be linked as same family and B2B, so our rooms will be ignored, so to say, between the cruises. We can leave our belongings as is in the rooms and only we will have to disembark, go through quick customs and then we will be able to reboard quite early for the 2nd trip. Supposedly, one pool and quick service restaurant should be available for our use while waiting for boarding to really begin. Sounds exciting and can't wait to see how this all goes...:)

Hi all! We are planning this cruise! Was planning another week long vacation at WDW, when DH announced he wanted to do something different :scared1: So I suggested we do a combo WDW and DCL cruise. This will be our first cruise. I'm 99.99% sure this will be our cruise date, but have to clear vacation time with our jobs (can't do that 'til November). We're on I-75 just 11 miles north of the TN border (so closer to Knoxville) but I lived in Brentwood when I was a kid. I've started seeing the commercials with ways people surprised their kids with the announcement they were going to Disney, and now I'm starting to wish I had kept it a secret so I could surprise them. But that's ok, we talk about it every day as if it's right around the corner! (Thank goodness it IS a year away though - I need that much time to get into swimsuit shape!):eek:

Andie: I drive to Franklin everyday for work. I work in the Cool Springs area. Not exactly Brentwood but close.

I try to hit Curves 2 or 3 times per week to make sure I don't have too many curves bulging from my swimsuit. I have walked 2 half marathons this year. The training has helped me to drop a few pounds. I might have 2 more half marathons under my belt by cruise time. I am hoping that will be enough to look fairly decent next year. :scared1:

I looked at the days for the last couple of years and it looks like it could be on Fridays and Thursdays. I am certain they will hold it on those days again. We will stay on property just for transportation as we won't be renting a car during our trip.

We stay on site, because it gives you the "full" Disney experience. You have the convenience of the transportation, and having purchases sent back to your room. But mostly we just love the Disney theming (pools, rooms, dining). And I appreciate the Disney customer service (it really is a shock to come back to the reality of what passes for customer service in the "real world") We figure we can stay at other hotels any time, so when we do a Disney trip, we want everything Disney! (Ok, the kids and I do -- hubby things I'm a little over the top fanatic :rotfl:) But seriously, it feels more like we're on vacation the entire time when we stay on site, than going back and forth (on and off property).

We've stayed at the ASMovies in the past. But more recently we've stayed at the CBR - in the Pirate rooms. The kids LOVED the room and the pool! We're going to stay at the Polynesian the night before the cruise, and then CBR when we get back for a few days in the parks and the NSSHP.

I would add at least 5 to the # of cabins participating as we are still 6 months off. In the past ones I have done, the cut of date for FE sign up is usually 2 or 3 months before hand.

It's not the fanciest place, but it's right on the beach, and you get 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and bathroom for less than $100. I booked yesterday for 10/8/11, and it was something like $65 plus tax--great deal!!

Hey Jennifer! We are staying in Cocoa Beach the night before we sail and are doing WDW for 3 days after we get off the ship. We also want to squeeze in Universal one day so that we can see Harry Potter, but we need to be careful so that the kids don't miss too much school (they have fall break in October, but we don't know for sure which week it will be next school year yet, so we just guessed when we started planning this trip)!

IMO, if you have never been before, 3-4 days will be really pushing it if you want to see everything, but 3-4 days at WDW is still better than 3-4 days at work or home! BTB is also a great idea--we were thinking of doing that at one point too, b/c a 4 night cruise just isn't long enough! But we didn't know if we wanted to go to Nassau twice in one week. LOL Castaway Cay twice in a week would be nice though. Hmm...

278 days until we sail...until then, I'm Disney Dreamin'!

This will be our second cruise so by no means am I an expert on FE, but here is what we did on our first cruise. Since we only had 11 family that participated we gave FE treats to all the cabines. Some families gave one gift for the whole cabine, for the kids only. we got lots of stuff from cookie cutters, glow stick, candies, pirates stuff, coloring books, magnets, nice home made things too. We got sooo much stuff, the kids loved checking it every time we arrived at the room.

Here is a picture of our FE that was made for us from a lovely lady StitchesNBows on ETSY (google ETSY and enter her name or search for fish extender), she customs makes them for you colors, theme, names, everything.

Happy New Year to everyone! So exciting to now be able to say we're going on a cruise THIS year (instead of next year)!!!!!

We're going to stay at the Polynesian the night before (doing photos, luau, etc. there), and Caribbean Beach 4 nights after.

Anyone up for getting into shape/weight loss challenge?

I need to do the weight loss challenge. Not sure whether I'll join WW or do something else, but I do need to shed a few pounds before we go!

I've been working as a seasonal CM at our local Disney Store, and the manager called me today and asked me to become a permanent CM. That means I'll be working 2 jobs for the forseeable future, but it'll help with park tickets, etc! It's hard to get into a weight loss program when you're busy with 2 jobs, kids, errands, kids' activities, etc., but I'm gonna try!

I hope that this board continues to get more active as the time gets closer--i can't wait to meet everyone!!

I lost 15 lbs. before the holidays commenced, and just started back up this week (along with the rest of the world). My first checkpoint will be the RCCL cruise I'm doing in 6+ weeks (:eek: not enough time to lose a lot!).

I'm doing a little bit of Jenny Craig, a little bit of my own vast experience with Weight Watchers, and a lot of going into SparkPeople and logging my food, and using my CardioTrainer Droid app to get on the exercise (treadmill) bandwagon. Hopefully, by October, I'll be svelt... lol

For my last Disney Cruise, I had created a private message board (where people I had to approve members, so not just anyone could see what we were saying)... if anyone is looking to get a little more personal about our trip (or dieting, or baseball, or excursions), I can delete all of the Magic stuff and we can start fresh.

Andrea, here is a link to a couple fish extenders. I had no idea what they were until recently. From what I've been told, you join a message board (like this one) with a group of people traveling on the same cruise and people (if interested) can sign up to exchange little gifts for other families while on board.....little things like candy, stickers, etc....or whatever you wish! It's kinda like a "secret santa". You hang your fish extender outside your cabin on the little fish hook that's hanging there for papers and correspondence from guest services. You can buy FE's or make your own! I'm crafty, but haven't learned to sew yet (got a sewing machine for Christmas though! lol). I think this is the one I'm going to buy, but there are others if you search Etsy or Ebay!

This will be our second cruise so by no means am I an expert on FE, but here is what we did on our first cruise. Since we only had 11 family that participated we gave FE treats to all the cabines. Some families gave one gift for the whole cabine, for the kids only. we got lots of stuff from cookie cutters, glow stick, candies, pirates stuff, coloring books, magnets, nice home made things too. We got sooo much stuff, the kids loved checking it every time we arrived at the room.

Those of you traveling with kids of similar ages, have you started a Kids Meet thread? We did that for our kids (they were all between 9-11) on our last cruise. They loved it...they used our screennames and were able to get accquainted before the cruise and even started making plans of their own for being in the clubs together.

We have o friend coming on this cruise with us so #34 is no necessary (they are coming on our May Dream Trip). We do have both cabins booked (6501 & 6001) but will hang the FE on the door of 6501.
So if we just keep everyone on the 6501 FE group, it will make it easier for all.

We too are traveling with kids on the Spectrum! My 10 y old was dx Aspergers but to many he seems like he has ADD... My 8 y.old twins are PDD-Nos and the other Autistic. So I have one of eveything!

My son Sam who is Autistic may not come with us on this cruise, he did not enjoy the last one :sad2: He was soooo wanted to go on a cruise, we booked a surprise cruise. The week before we left he googled (lord know why :confused3) Titanic :eek:

To make a long story short. The morning of the cruise when we finally announced that we were going on the cruise he panicked :scared1: I have a video of it on my FB ( he now laughs everytime he watches it) He cried from the second we pulled up to the terminal until we were taken aboard right to the restaurant, the CM was soooooo nice. They were all nice, telling him "Titanic wasn't real only a movie", "no you are not on the boat your at the restaurant" Then he saw Pluto and he calmed down. But was always a bit nervous kept saying he wanted to be safe with mommy :sad1:
I know he enjoyed himself, I have pictures of him smiling, he loved sitting on the verandah and watching the Ocean but he refuses to go back!

We will make the final decision when the flight rates comes out. I am hoping he will change his mind.

Welcome aboard! I'm updating the roll call to include your family. Just let me know if you will be doing the fish extender and, if so, which cabin you will be in.

In the meantime, my son (age 10) is also on the autistic spectrum (his primary diagnosis is Prader-Willi Syndrome, which then led to being on the spectrum). He and my daughter, unfortunately will not be joining us, as this is an adult party time to celebrate my big birthday. He really enjoyed the Disney Magic back in 2009, although probably did not take advantage of all of the kids' activities that he could have. But he did really well, and the staff was very good with him too. We are getting ready to go on the RCI Oasis of the Seas in a couple weeks. He's super excited, and we've been prepping him on things he will see and what to expect. His biggest "issues" with cruising are the ship's horn (Disney isn't as bad because it's a song, so I'm a little concerned about RCI), and then a "natural disaster" occurring (he has irrational fears about weather).

Anyway... I kind of wish that my son coming, as he would now have a buddy, but if there are any questions that I might be able to help answer, feel free to send me an e-mail at cctimmom@gmail.com

I have done some reserach on them and have found a company on line that I think I can work with. I would do them for everyone who wants one (not just FE participants) and have them ready to give out at our meet on Sunday afternoon and/or deliver to cabins that don't make the meet.

The first thing I am going to need is a concensus on a name/theme for our group. I know we talked about being the Columbus Day Cruisers, but due to the fact that we have a number of DISsers coming from other countries, we (cctimmom and I) thought it might be a fun idea to set up a place on the private board for anyone to come and submit more ideas for a fun name/theme.
