Hi guys.
Where of to the world  in May next year and on looking at the calender on WDW ive noticed that the Magic Kingdom is shut at 5pm. Which is early for that time of year. I was wondering if anyone knew why.
Thanks in advanced

The U.S. Travel Association International Pow Wow is at the Orlando Convention Center from May 15 to 19, 2010. It's a huge convention that attracts travel industry professionals from North America and overseas.
My guess is the Disney will have a private party for convention participants on Sunday, May 16.

I just looked at the calendar on the Pow Wow's website: http://www.tia.org/powwow/programglance.html
The calendar shows "Evening Event" on Sunday, May 16, 2010, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

How much $ would a company have to pay Disney for exclusive use of a park for an evening?

Grad Night might be a reason why also. Most high schools in Florida have Grad Night in the middle of May.

Normally, I imagine it would take a fortune for a company to rent the Magic Kingdom -- especially on a night when the Magic Kingdom normally has Extra Magic Hours.
But this is the U.S. Travel Association. The Pow Wow attendees could send drive a lot of future business to Disney. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney is not only hosting the event but also serves wine and hors d'œuvres to these guests.

Nope.
Why do you disagree??? It was officially announced earlier this year that grad nights is returning to the MK in 2010 :confused3
edited to add- would like to know if you have any contradictory information that confirms that it is not grad night.

Disney Grad Nite 2010, which runs from 10:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m., is scheduled at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park for four nights:
Friday, April 23, 2010
Saturday, April 24, 2010
Friday, April 30, 2010
Saturday, May 1st 2010
"Disney Grad Nite" is not the reason why regular park hours at the Magic Kingdom are scheduled to end at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2010.

What happens on Grad night? Does the park shut early? We had plans to go to MK on the 24th.

The hours for the Magic Kingdom are 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on the four dates when the Grad Nite 2010 events are scheduled.
Normally, the Magic Kingdom is open until 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays that time of year.

I have no idea how much they paid, but when I attended New York Life's Executive Council meeting in 2007, they rented out the Studios for a night. (That even included whatever food you wanted to eat).

I'm gonna go to citywalk that night, just for the purpose of pointing out all the ppl who would have gone to PI. Note that not even Atlantic Dance will be open because it's a sunday!

I was told by a cast member when they shut down for a private party last year that it cost 1 million dollars to reserve the park for 5000 guests. This was when the company Grainger I think that is how you spell it reserved the magic kingdom. And they set up open bars in the park, which most cast members frowned on, because magic kingdom doesn't sell alcohol.

My hubby attended a Project Management Institute conference and they had US for one evening, all he did was eat!
