View Full Version : Christmas is Coming - Disney Room

We've been hard at work decorating for Christmas since we'll be gone to Vail Colorado for Thanksgiving and then our Christmas/Housewarming party is the following weekend. Thought we had better start early.
These pictures are from our Guest/Disney room. We've been collecting quite a lot of stuff, especially vintage 1950-1960 Disneyland and needed a place to display it all. The Christmas tree has all the 100+ Disney ornaments we've collected over the past couple years. Enjoy!

Thanks! I can't tell you how bummed we are that we couldn't go to DL for Christmas this year. Last year was our first time and it was when we exchanged rings, so that time of year even holds something even more special for us. We've both been looking at Disneygeek's website, checking out all of the decorations that have gone up and it makes us want to go even more.
After finishing last night, we just laid in the bed looking at everything making us a little "homesick" for the park.
Mike, you're always penciled in for a visit any time. :) We'll make sure we have mints on your pillow, awaiting your arrival.

It's not over the top! It shows a very nice collection in a very nice way.
I particularly love the white tree. I've been trying to convince my wife that we should have a white tree, but not with much success.
You've done a beautiful job and anyone fortunate enough to stay in that room will feel most welcome!
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. ::yes::

The train around the tree is making me miss my Dad! He always set up trains around the tree, and played with them. The only time I seem to remember him playing with something he enjoyed. Usually it was games with us for us. The trains were for him.
The room is just right, and anyone would be pleased to be welcomed in such a way.

Maybe we should get a reservation list started. :) We still have a few things to put on one wall, like all of our shadow box pin/lanyard collections. Hopefully have that up before the party.

We bought a box of Nightmare ornaments at the Disney Store today. Eventually we will put up our tree. After we get home from WDW. We'll see if my fabulous spinning stand scares the cats enough to keep them away from the tree. We'll see if the tree can still spin with the weight of my ornaments...:rolleyes1
I was disappointed at Hallmark today. They don't have a "son" ornament. We have always bought one for DS! They also don't have a "Grandma" ornament - DS and my mom exchange the "Grandma" and "Grandson" ornaments every year at Thanksgiving. I guess we are finished with those traditions now! :guilty:
Professional tree decorating would be an incredibly valuable service in my house. AND it just so happens that *I* live close enough to Mr. Z that he really could help me! :rotfl:

Thanks so much honey. Our Christmas village has gotten out of hand. We didn't even put all of them out. We have about 40 houses. Steven's dream is to be able to create a lifelike village, with a train, water features, people, cars, roads, mountains.....he's gets a little obsessive about things and I have to reel him back in. I swear next year, he's converting our office/art room into the "Village Room". I swear........

Thank you! I actually worked at Dillards for a few years during the holidays doing decorating and also worked for a design company here in Dallas for 4 years decorating homes for the holidays. Have done some contract xmas decorating some, but it's so hard to get it done for myself, let alone others.
And that map got SO much attention at the frame/craft store. Everyone was coming up and checking it out. We got lucky. The 1955-1959 maps were going for $250 and up and the 1960's going for $150. I somehow found someone who didnt' know what they had and sold it on ebay to me for $20.
I should feel guilty.......

Um, Rob? How do you put up a "stalking"? ;)
We just have stockings. But you know, we're straight...:rolleyes1
Mr. and Mr. Z, I am SUPER sad we will miss the party! The house is beyond beautiful!
Wish you could be there too hon, but I know you'll be living it up at WDW. Hope you don't get washed away.

LOVE your disney house! What a great idea to do up the spare bedroom! You have inspired me to do the same! :) This is the only place in our house where I can feed my addiction for Disney. Somehow I just don't think that Disney and Haida native artwork would look good together! :confused3 Thanks for the wonderful pics, I am truly inspired! :goodvibes

Wow, your house looks amazing :)
I think I'll show my girlfriend these pics (she thinks that Disney things can't go into houses tastefully eg. the wreath, and the framed map)
I love what you've done though. And don't worry about the houses... with my grandparents house, it's CRAZY with nutcrackers. Maybe 300+? At least houses don't give you nightmares... :lmao:

I think there's a fine line with doing something like this tastefully or not. It's really easy to go towards the tacky side if you're not careful. lol
