I just injured my knee and can't walk. I want to rent a scooter but what if someone steals the scooter while I am on a ride. I've heard about that happening with Disney scooters. Would a bike lock help? Also, if I go to a resort for dinner and I can hobble short distance should I park the ecv outside? We have ADR's at ohana and california grill.

There is a scooter key. Just take it out and take it with you when you get out of your EVC. It won't go without the key, so no worries!! Have fun!

I took my personal one this past May and had no problems with anyone touching it who shouldn't have. For the restaurants I parked with the strollers where I couldn't park it inside. Just ask when you get to the restaurant and they will give you the best idea where to park it. Just be sure to take the key with you.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

The majority of attraction lines in WDW are "mainstreamed". This means that a wheelchair or ECV will use the regular entrance and line all the way to either a show seating or ride load area. If a line is not mainstreamed there will be signs and/or Cast Members to direct you where to go.

If a show, normally there will be spaces to park a chair or ECV and there will be seats next to the space for other members of the group.

If a ride, usually you will have to transfer to a ride vehicle, although some rides will allow a person in a wheelchair to remain in their chair. If you have to transfer to a ride, and unload is not at the same location as load, your ECV will magically appear at the unload area.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Note that Post #2 discusses mobility and equipment. Post #3 had a wide variety of information and links; it might be a good idea to look at the various park "Guidebook For Persons With Disabilities" for more detailed information.

Most of the time people are respectful of scooters that don't belong to them so as long as you take the key you're OK. I've seen a few times when parents don't know how to take care of their kids and the kids climb on the scooter, but they can't do anything if they don't have the key.

Evertime you leave it and come back check where your speed control is. If a child does climb on it or check it out, that is the first thing that they go for.

my Mom (who cannot walk hardly at all) rode her scooter into Ohana where the table was and then I moved it out to the stroller area. Brought it back for when we were ready to leave.

At Prime Time Cafe the greeter rode it out for us and I went and got it at the end of the meal.
