How are everyone's gardens doing with the water restrictions out there? Our city just updated our water restrictions from watering on odd/even days like your address to additionally no watering from 6am-9am and 6pm-9pm on any days!

I have been watering almost constantly on the days I can. I let the sprinkler go on the grass for about 1.5 hours in each area and then water the plants/flowers by hand - which takes about 2 hours. On the days I cannot water, I have 2 watering cans that I fill up in the house and use those for my container plants and for my hydrangeas. (My poor hydrangeas are suffering horribly! :( )

What restrictions do you have on water? And how are you dealing with getting your plants watered in this heat?

So far no restrictions in our town but I've been only watering about once a week (yes, it's been very hard to limit myself). I have a sprinkler that does a pretty wide range so it not only gets my plants but my lawn too in spots - it's an oval shape and sprays quite a ways. I do the backyard one night and the front yard the next with a half hour in each spot (probably a width of about 30 feet and depth of about 20 feet). I have been watering my newer plants like my rose bush that I just planted and my bleeding heart bush that I just planted with the watering can from the house water so they get a little extra water and of course my hanging plant gets watered every other day but that's about it.

The odd-even system hasn't been lifted in three years here. They've hinted that these restrictions may be permanent.....:( I've just gotten used to early morning watering. I don't water the grass though. Just watering my flowers can take an hour. Nothing seems to be suffering too much though.

We are in a stage IV of a stage V watering program. We have been in stage IV since last spring. We are having a serious drought.

We can water only gardens on odd-even days up till 9 in the morning and after 5 in the evening. We cannot use sprinklers when watering gardens it has to be a hand held hose or watering can.

I haven't any grass left, lots of weeds and crabgrass make up the lawn. As far as flower and vegetable gardens this is a chore. I have mulched everything very heavy, but everthing is showing signs of stress.

I'm watering as we speak. Odd/even and before 9am.

My garden looks like hell.

I'm just praying some of the new stuff survives.....
