View Full Version : Has anyone done this?
:D Hi everyone,
We are going to wdw in October. My mum and dad are on about giving me and my little brother (we will be 14 and 10) two way walkie talkies in the park so mum and dad can go off and do what they want and me and my lil bro can do what we want. Has anybody done this before? If so did you have any problems with it?

We took walkie talkies w/ 14 channels to wdw in june, and it did not work at all! There were way too many people using walkie talkies, so all you could hear was other people's conversations. You're probably better off just planning to meet somewhere at a certain time, because you'll just get confused if you try to talk on the walkie talkies.:D

i agree with having a meeting spot. Do the parents just want to check in or do they have to keep in touch with you?
I say just have meeting times for a quick check, see how things are going, get more money from them : ). Disney is a safe place, ignore the rumors. Just make sure you stick with your brother and have a meeting place in case you two get separated.

I think walkie talkies are a good idea, but what if someone looses them or the connection doesnt come out. I think u should also have a meeting spot just incase something goes wrong.

I would say it would be mush better to have a meeting place because we took walkie takies and they did not work at all becasue almost everyone there has them so the channels are all used up. If you have a meeting time i would say that if your time to meet is three and you are on a ride i would talk to your parents befor you leave and say if im not there at three im proball;y on a ride so give me 15 mimutes before you get worried!

I tried that and it is not a good thought. There are to many people and you couldn't even tell who was your parents and who is the kids.

Instead of taking walkie talkies, my parents went to the restaurant in France, and let me and my brother (12 and 16), walk around Epcot as long as we met back in Norway at 10:00 pm. It worked out well, we got dinner alone, and went on all the rides our parents hate. Although we couldn't leave the park.

We use the walkie-talkies all the time at WDW. My sister and I take one and my parents have the other. We use the subchannels or something like that. No one else was on our channel so it wasnt too bad. I would also suggest a meeting place just in case. Like say, if I dont talk to you before 7, we will met at the castle at 8. or whatever! :)

where but in Epcot can you have parentes eating dinner in France and have a meeting in Norway at 10:00?
:D Thanks for all your feedback guys!
We dont think we will be going to use the walkie talkies now but if we do we will use one with sub-channels!
Thanks again,
Nicky
