We're driving to Disney, leaving PA on 8/22 and plan on driving til we reach South Carolina. Having driven to Disney before and not having much luck finding a clean hotel to get a few hours sleep and a shower, I am looking for any input or suggestions for a clean, reasonably priced hotel to stop at overnight in South Carolina. Any suggestions?

Heather, we recently discovered a nice family owned & operated motel in Santee, SC - Clark's :). It was clean & we felt safe. They also have a nice sit down restaurant on the property. We have had breakfast & dinner in the restaurant. Next door is a neat local shop to buy odds & ends. Clark's phone number is 1-800-531-9658.
We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn on Route 52 in Florence - not again for awhile :(. As much as we like staying at Hampton Inns, this one was one of the original & not what we expected.

I know the Day's Inn has a daylight savings special on now for $34.95 per night. We booked a room in Florence SC for our drive down on the Days Inn site (www.daysinn.com). But I have no idea what it will be like, we are just hoping for a clean room with a decent bed and shower!

A few years back we stayed at the Best Western in Santee. It was very nice, very clean and had a very nice restaurant on site. You could pull your car right up to your door rather than having interior corridors. It was not expensive and offered AAA discount.

This web site may give you some ideas, especially off of I-95 in South Carolina:
