Background - though not much to say.. I wanna go to Disney!!!

We have been to WDW twice, first in 2007 where we stayed at Port Orleans riverside with my mum and in 2008 we went with my sister and stayed at All Stars Music. As well as WDW we have been to DLRP 5 times and we love both resorts very much.

This trip has come about for a few reasons, mainly that I am desperate to finally get to use our DVC after not being able to use it this year. I have always wanted to have a Disney birthday so I first looked at DLRP, with 3 nights at the HNY however then DBF said he would like to go to DLRP too however not in Janaury (to cold!!!) so we are now going to DLRP later in the year. Looking at flights I realised I could fit in 9 nights at WDW and it wouldn't cost much more than going to DLRP. I have accomadation sorted and will buy Annual passes for Disney with our DVC discount as we will be going later in the year too.

As well as celebrating my birthday we are also going to celebrate DD birthday which is a few days after we get back and also a late celebration for my graduation this year! I haven't had the best time in life with past illnessess and other stuff so I am going to celebrate that I can surive life!!

It is just the two of us going and I am really looking forward to it as we both had a fantastic time at DLRP last year together. I used to be nervous about the thought of doing it alone however I know my DD is at an age where she can have fun together, she can go on most of the rides, enjoys eating in resturants and has a fun sense of adventure and humour, she is now my ideal Disney holiday companion! She no longer complains of being tierd, asking to be carried, can carry her own stuff, doesn't need feeding every couple of hours, bascally all the hard things of taking young children away.
While I had a fantastic time last year with my sister I now don't have to plan to keep every happy, my sister hated character meals so we only did one last year however this trip we will make up for it.

Que comments from family about going to WDW again, am I not bored of it by now and how we are going for to short of a time etc etc etc.... snore!

I would post pictures from previous trips however I was 2 stone heavier then them I am now so I am not going too! (there on facebook anyway, lol)

THE QUICK PLANNING!!

The great thing about booking 3 months before is that no waiting for days to book ADRs so could get on with planning at lighting quick speed.

Tuesday 13th October.

I have booked flights with Virgin Atlantic from Manchester, seats pre requested I went with two in the middle with DD in a ailse seat for easy exit for the bathroom as she gets airsick.

Next I called DVC to book accomadation. The CM said that all my nights were avilable at AKV however when I asked him to check avilablity in the remote chance BCV or BWV were avilable one of the nights at AKV Jambo house went so I booked AKV SV studio with one night wait listed. The CM said it was almost certain I would get the night needed.

Later I realise that I have booked are check in day a day to late, doh! However I quickly get this sorted by sending an email and it is sorted by Disney in super quick speed.

Wedesnday 15th October

Now I am moving on quickly with the planning, as January hours are out and I can book my ADRs today, yay!

I check tour guide mike and come up with my interniary which take literaily 5 minutes. After 2 visits to WDW we know which parks we like. I also manage to book my ADRs and I am pretty pleased with what we have booked. I have decded to pay for DDP for this trip mostly so we can eat at table services resturants and also it is nice to give DD a treat, icecream etc without counting the $. I quickly scanned allears for menus which didn't take long as I already had a list in my head from previous trips of what we liked and wanted to try. Planning does get easier when you have been before.

itinerary

Tuesday - fly out to Orlando from Manchester airport with VA. Magical express to Animal Kingdom Villas.

Wedesnday- Early start at Magic kingdom- DD has many favourite rides here so we will be spending most of the day here.Dinner is booked at 1900 park fare, Cinderella Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner leaving enough time back to MK for spectromagic which we haven't seen since 2007.

Thursday - Epcot, AM we will be doing future world, Soarin, Test Track, Turtle Crush are our must do's here. In the afternoon we will explore World Show Case & and dinner is booked at Le Cellier.

Friday- Hollywood Studios -(I have adapted to the new name rather well,) Must do rides here are Rock N Roller coaster and looking forward to doing it glasses free as I had laser eye surgery in april. Toy story mania(hopefully I won't queue more than 30 minutes for it!) and The Little Mermaid show. I hope DD will give ToT a try. We will be giving fantasmic a miss this trip. We have lunch booked at Mama Melrose,

Saturday- Animal Kingdom for the moring, we do a few rides and character meets and will leave around mid day. Afternoon will be spent at the resort enjoying the views, and dinner will be at Boma.

Sunday- I think DD will now be despearte to hit the Disney store now we have all the parks under our belt, so we will head to DTD and will have lunch here. Dinner tonight is booked at Coral reef so we will be off to epcot for the evening and we will stay to watch illuminations.

Monday- Breakfast at Ohana this morning to meet some characters and no plans as of yet.

Tuesday - my birthday ! morning relaxing and then afternoon at epcot and Dinner at Yachtsman steak house AND I will be having a glass of wine or 2 and I eagily anticapte the disaproving stares of a lone mother having a drink.(It takes more than 2 glasses of wine to make me completely drunk anyway! (oops maybe should have admited that one)

Wedesnday- We are celebrating DD birthday a few days early as it is her birthday at the weekend when we get home. I am guessing the park of choice in the morning will be MK and Epcot in the evening DD birthday meal is booked at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and we already have princess dress at the ready!!

Thursday-flying home today, usually we go to DTD to check in and then to Epcot where we have a counter service lunch before getting the ME back and I am guessing this year will be the same, as DD always wants Test Track as her last ride of the holiday.

All subject to change on the whim of a 7 year old girl! Who knows if she will be able to wait 2 days to ride test track or 5 days to shop! Though it should pretty much stay the same.

I also told DD about the trip today & she is very excited about staying at AKV and finally going to her Disney Home as she calls it.

Friday 16th October!

I checked the DVC member site and my waitlist has come through so I have 9 nights at AKV Savannah view studio booked!! Yay.

Friday 13th November

Well now 60 days to go...costumes galore

Not much happening of the planning front at the moment apart from the important task of choosing which costumes DD is going to wear for her character meals.,( this is something DD likes to plan!). She has a snow white dress for her princess storybook meal . For our Lilo & Stich breakfast at ohana she has decided to go with a pink minnie dress complete with ears.
I also started to get DD christmas presents which include a cinderella dress which will be prefect to wear for Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner. She has also asked for a fairy dress for christmas which will be worn to meet her fairy friends.

to be continued...............

Our Mission
16th October 2009

My DD's Planning.

Today on our walk home from school, mine and DD started talking about our upcoming trip. We talked about how we didn't get to meet many characters on our last trip and DD said she would like to meet as many as possible this trip and get autographs and photopass pictures with them. So we have come up with a mission to make a list and try to meet all the characters on the list during our trip. We have come up with this list together, though mainly created by DD - hope it is not to big a list for 9 days.

Mickey
Minnie
Donald
Daisy
Goofy
Pluto
Chip/Dale
Captain Hook
Peter Pan
Wendy
Jack Sparrow
Alladdin
Genie
Jasmine
Snow white
Dopey
Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Belle
Mulan
Ariel
Winnie The Pooh
Tiger
Mary Poppins
Marie -(been looking for her past two trips!)
Rafiki
Fairies( a must do)

She has also chosen her first rides of each park. she does this every trip including DLRP, I am relived that the first ride is no longer Dumbo as she would insit on queuing even if the line was an hour long.

Magic Kingdom -Splash Mountain
Epcot -Test Track
Animal Kingdom -Everest
Hollywood Studios - RnR (I hope to get on TSM first though!)

She also chooses the last ride of the trip which as alway is to be Test Track.

13th December

“Oh ho ho How I love to swim, When you want to swim you want to swim”

DD always sings that in the pool.

I have just read on Disboards that the pool at Jambo house is going be closed. DD does love swimming, in fact she would often choice the pool over a theme park. If the weather was nice we would have spent a little time at the pool). I have promised her an afternoon at the pool if it is warm enough. Though there is still the pool at Kidani to use. I don’t want to switch to Kidani as after staying at POR and All stars music I really want to stay in a hotel building. So I guess well will be visiting Kidani to use the pool.

16th December
A big RED envelope = what could it be?

Today I have got a big red envelope through my door. Oh yeah, my tickets have arrived, well actually an E ticket!! Not long to go now.
Also on Monday while taking DD to school we saw the VS076 landing at Manchester, (an hour late!). Granted it was coming back from Orlando rather than going to Orlando however it was exciting enough me and DD to go” we will be on a Virgin atlantic plan soon to go to Disney world yay!”

And holiday planning must include clothes shopping

I have brought the costumes for DD and they are all wrapped up ready for next week!
I have also brought her these , which I think will look lovely to wear at WDW, DD loves the skirt and has asked for it however doesn’t know she is getting it for Christmas, as she asked for it the other day. ( I had already brought it for her before she asked for it!:))

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/claire1902/2301042954889M.jpg

all I have brought for my self is a pair of black leggings to wear under my skirts if it is chilly

17th December

Well as I now have my flight tickets I thought it was about time I sorted out booking Magical express to take us to AKV.

Tickets puzzle!!

I was going to get an AP for both DD and I however after thinking it over not sure if it will be the best option, what made AP great in the past for us was the room discount however we are now staying DVC on points so no discount to be had. I have looked at both the USA & UK tickets and I have decided to MYW tickets. I was going to get an 8 day hopper ticket however after puzzling and thinking it over for weeks have switched a couple of days around so we don’t have to get the hopper option which gives us more $ to spend. I do like the hopper option as we like to spend evenings at Epcot or just visit a park for a favourite ride. If I find I can’t do without it I can always upgrade.

The trip sounds great Claire!

Marie is one of my favourite characters (so much so we named our kitten after her :lmao:), we saw her on this trip in Epcot in the France Pavillion she was outside Chefs de France. I would ask a cast member in Epcot if she is appearing that day, as I haev heard she is quite rare and appearance didnt show up on the meet and greet listings :thumbsup2

Your DD sounds like a little Disney planner

We are taking DD , also 7 for her first trip to WDW in two weeks :cloud9:

I've bought some Princess dresses too for :santa: to deliver ;)

Does your DD have any recommendations of must do's on a first trip for our DD ?

I think we may may well borrow her character list

She says - - looking at animals at AK, character meets at epcot, Splash mountain, The little mermaid show, the boat to MK and Beaches and creams ice cream palour, and the world of disney:rotfl::rotfl:. :)

She also has a list of hates-:rotfl: so thought I would add them too.
POTC (She loves the paris version however is scared of Davy Jones on WDW one). I get her to ride it by her closing her eyes untill we get to the bit that is like the paris ride)
Great Movie ride - she thought the alien scene was real and she thought we were being robbed by a gangster, got her to ride it again however she still hated it.
ToT - scared of the themeing, she does like the ride going up & down so I can usually get her to go on once however that is her limited..
Fantasmic - also scared her as she was scared of the "baddies":confused3 Can't get her to watch it again which is a shame.

disneyangel
12-19-2009, 02:14 PM
Ice -cream - A girl after my own heart . I would love to try the kitchen sink (between the three of us ).

Our DD sounds like she's not quite as brave as yours :scared1:

I can't see me getting her on ToT at all.

She is quite an animal lover too so I think will really like Animal Kingdom(and Seaworld) and I can see her loving the little mermaid too .

I had thought they would love Fantasmic at their age . I hope our DD is not too scared .

Thanks :flower3:

My DD gets scared very easily at some things, some U rated films scare her. I think most children do love it. I haven't heard of many children being scared of it.

12 Days to go...

I have just brought 8 day park hoppers through Disney.com. I wasn't going to get the hopper option however DD reminded me how much we liked going to Epcot in the evening after spending the day in another park.

I have also got DD a gift basket ordered for a birthday surprise for when we check in at AKV, only a autograph book, pen & pin however she will love getting a surprise.

I haven't started packing yet however been thinking about it, I am going to take 1 pair of jeans each, trainers, 2 hoodies each(one will be worn on travel day), 2 pairs of shorts each, 5 t shirts each and a few skirts and leggings as well as DD costumes. I am not taking loads as I am trying to just take one holdhall bag that is easy to carry.

DD main concern at the moment is making sure her DS is charged up ready for the flight and choosing which teddy to take

It is actually my birthday while we are there and all the treats are mostly for her birthday which is which is 2 days after we get back. :rotfl:

Feeling a little nervous about having to navigate myself around the airport alone, hope I can find my way out of MCO okay and find DME.

I am now all packed, I have packed a mixture of winter clothes and summer clothes after looking at the weather, with layers for DD. As well as checking the weather for Orlando.

I have also been checking the weather for here in Manchester, the roads are clear now

2 days now. I have just redone my packing as I was worried about not having enough warm stuf. took out shorts, t.shirts for DD and swapped them with dresses as we can layer or down easier according to the weather. I have packed leggings, tights and tops which she can underneath the dresses if it is cold.
