I've been lurking on this board for over a year, trying to decide which DSLR to purchase and you all have been so much help! Now that I finally have my new DSLR, I am totally overwhelmed!

My son is in a Taekwondo tournament this weekend and I need some help figuring out what settings to use. The tournament is in a high-school gymnasium and I have a Nikon D90 with a Nikkor 18-200 vr2 lens.

What should I set my f-stop and shutter speed at to best capture the action shots without a ton of blur?

Thanks in advance for any and all of your help!!

It might be hard with that lens since it is very "slow". Try to get as close as possible to the action so you can stay zoomed out. Then use Av mode and set the aperture as low as it will go. You'll probably want to use ISO 1600-3200 or so.

Thank you for your quick reply! I`ll try that. I haven`t really had much time to play with it yet. Thanks again!
