Don't know if any of you can help or not, but thought I'd try. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and just had a fetal echo ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that the left ventricle of his heart is small among other things. (brain disorder as well as aortic stenosis). I don't know for sure that the baby has hypoplastic heart, but it seems like it based on the internet. Anyone have any experience with this or any information? Or anything similar? It seems pretty scary. Thanks!

With the advances in medicine it is a very curable heart condition now. Like Momma said there are are a series of several surgeries over the first 2 years of life and as they grow they might need a couple more depending on what is wrong.
The really good thing is that you know early on what is wrong so you can give birth near a level 3 NICU so they can start treatment the minute your baby is born. Most HLHS babies die because they don't find out about it early enough to get them to a hospital that can fix the condition.

Update: I have now met with the cardiologist at the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. It has been confirmed that the problem is hypoplastic heart. Super scary, but I feel better knowing there is a plan. Also, the surgeon is supposed to be really good. Lots of unanswered questions about what will happen when I deliver, but those can all be answered. Thanks so much for the information!
