We are doing a short trip to the world next June (4 days, 4 nights), and had planned on doing the Basic DDP, but once we added a Signature meal for 2 credits realized that it would really impact our remaining plans. Also because it is a special birthday dinner I thought we would order appetizers too and pay OOP. Then started thinking maybe we should consider going Deluxe.

My worries for the DxDDP are that it will be TOO much food. But we're not planning on doing any buffets, and really wanted to try a few of the other signature restaurants. What do you think of our potential ADR's DDP vs DxDDP? What are your experiences with DxDDP?

Here are our potential ADR's under DDP
6/9 - Lunch - CS - Epcot (Sunshine Seasons or Tangierine Cafe)
6/9 - Dinner - TS - DHS - Mama Melrose
6/10 - Lunch - CS - MK - Columbia Harber (4 Adults split 2 CS Credits)
6/10 - Dinner - CS - EP (4 adults split 2 CS credits)
6/11 - Lunch - CS -???
6/11 - Dinner - 2TS - Narcoossee's
6/12 - Lunch - CS - Flame Tree BBQ
6/12 - Dinner - TS - Le Cellier

Potential ADR's under DxDDP
6/9 - Lunch - Tutto Italia
6/9 - Dinner - The Brown Derby
6/10 - Lunch - Le Cellier
6/10 - Dinner - Yachtsman Steakhouse
6/11 - Lunch - Mama Melrose
6/11 - Dinner - Narcoossee's
6/12 - Lunch - Teppen Edo
6/12 - Dinner - Flying Fish Cafe

I LOVE the deluxe plan!!! Lots of people complain that there is just too much food. No one is pulling your arm to order apps and dessert. We usually order 1 app for our table and get dessert. Sometime we skip the dessert. We usually grab a QS meal at the parks. Although I loved eating at The Plaza for lunch in Sept. I would say if you are going to eat at the Sig restaurants go for Deluxe!!:goodvibes

We also love the DxDDP! And always get it when we go. Honestly, I'm not sure if we save money on it (in fact, we probably don't); but the convenience factor and having our trip (aside from tips) fully budgeted and paid for before we go outweighs any slight loss we incur.

The one thing to keep in mind is that to make it cost-effective as opposed to paying OOP (even after considering convenience) you need to enjoy table service restaurants, which take up a decent amount of time. With having a 4 day trip that may or may not be time you want to give up.

We are going in February from the 10th to the 15th and just staying at Disney and going to Universal this time only, and we are STILL doing the Deluxe - why? Because we will have a big b'fast before we leave each morning, a light lunch at Universal and then a signature almost each night. I calculated all options and I would be paying a bunch more OOP if we did the Basic and we each picked one restaurant to eat at - even our 9 year old wanted the Yachtsman and that is 2 credits.

Thank you! Makes me feel better to know we don't HAVE to eat everything in sight. :rotfl:

I calculated the cost and we would save $400 vs paying OOP, then again we wouldn't do all the Signature's if we were paying OOP. I guess it would be mostly to just enjoy the trip and our adults only getaway. Eat and experience places that we wouldn't normally do with the kids!!

Yes, once we knew we were going to eat at a 2 credit restaurant that started the deluxe talk because otherwise we'd have to split credits. I love that your 9yo wanted to eat at the Yachtsman! You are raising him/her right, they have good taste already!:lmao:
