Cost for rollaways!

I know this is like comparing apples to oranges...but why does Disney charge for rollaways when Hard Rock will allow you to bring your own air mattress!I was told Disney charges for the amount of heartbeats in a room,weather you are going to use one of their beds or not!Why??:cool:

You can take your own air matress to a Disney resort.

Most hotels do charge extra for rollaway beds or extra people in the room. Disney is no different. And, their "maximum room occupancy" is set by the county, not Disney.

If you get a rollaway at Disney, you're paying for the bed. You can't add an extra person in the room, even if you get a rollaway. It's a violation of the fire code.

Why can you have 5 in some rooms at POR (the ones with the trundle beds) and it be different, since the rooms are the same size?
Doesn't the fire code apply to all of them ;)

The Bayou rooms have been set at an occupancy limit of 5 in the fire code. :)

Exactly - if you go to Swan or Dolphin they do not care how many people are on your floor. I would think their fire code would be the same as Disneys and Hard Rocks for all that matters. I think it is just a matter of them wanting to make more money.

I'm not sure where you are getting your info for the Swan and Dolphin or the hard rock. When I look on thier website they state that the price is based on double occupancy and additional adults are additional?

We're staying at the Hard Rock for 3 nights in October - 2 adults and 3 kids, ages 16, 13, 11. When I called I asked for a standard room with 2 queens. They didn't even ask if I wanted a rollaway. But, when I received my confirmation it said, "Rollaway declined"! Which is okay, because I would have declined it anyway (bringing a sleeping bag or air mattress), but I thought it was funny that they assumed I didn't want it.

Since I originally posted this sight it is time for me to reply.This has gotten very confusing.My original beef was,why,when 5 people are(I repeat are)allowed in a room does Disney insist in charging for a rollaway,day bed or a trundle when you can supply your own air mattress?I stayed ay HRH last summer and the charge for a rollaway was waived because we made the cutoff for when they began to charge.We will be checking into HRH July 25th.I informed the person making our reservation that we did not want a rollaway...she said no problem.Our confirmation also says.."rollaway declined".Yes,you do need to pay for additional adults,this is not our case.:jester:

At the Swan and Dolphin - you do not have to pay for children on the floor - adults would be extra. I think that is what people are talking about - when you are adding the kids and you want to throw them on the floor. Same area - different fire codes.
