Has anyone used National Car rental from the port to WDW?
Was it difficult to get from DCL to the car rental office?
Thanks!

We used National - it's about a 15 minute cab ride from the port (costs about $11 + tip). They have a drop off at the Dolphin. Truth is, Avis is more convenient since they have the shuttle.

Of Avis, Hertz, and National (the three companies that offer one-way rentals between Orlando and the Space Coast), National is the least convenient. They do not have a courtesy shuttle, but they do have a negotiated taxi rate of $11 with a specific taxi company. Some DISers have reported that they will deduct $11 from your rental charges if you present a receipt.

I travel lots for work and pleasure, and National always seems to have the highest rates! I would check other company rates before making a reservation. Even with my corporate discount the rates are sometimes twice as much as other companies when I check.

We've used national from the port to get to Vero Beach and it worked out fine. Yes, it's farther than the Raddison.

Budget also offers one way rentals from MCO to Port Canaveral. Their port office is located at 8401 Astronaut Blvd, about a 5 min. ride to the Magic/Wonder.
They also provide a complimentary shuttle to and from the ship.

I agree you should always shop around. National had a better rate than Avis, Hertz, or Budget the last time I shopped rates for one-way rentals from MCO to the Space Coast. But they have the least convenient location at the Space Coast, so I'd be willing to pay a little bit more for the convenience of Avis.

On my 5/18/02 trip, National had the best rate with a Disney Club discount. My husband and I just flagged the first cab we saw in the parking lot across from the terminal. It was about a 10-15 minute ride to National and they did deduct $11 from our total as reimbursement for the cab. I want to say we paid about $60 for a minivan for a 1 day rental.

Dave, we checked into what you said about the reimbursal - National confirmed that if you pick up a car, the cab fare is reimbursed; if you drop off a car, the cab fare is your own. Thanks for the info. :D

Thanks everyone for your help. We've rented from both Avis and Budget on our previous cruises but this time we thought it would be a little cheaper, since we're going to WDW after the cruise, to rent from National at the Port then return the car at WDW.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!
