Hi there,

I wonder if someone can help with some advice? I have two questions regarding the Character Breakfasts (I want to book a Character Breakfast for our trip early in the new year)

1.) I know there are two 'sittings' - 7.30 and 9.30. Is one genereally better than the other?

One report I read said the 7.30 was better because it was less busy - and therefore better character interaction.

Another report I read said the 7.30 wasn't as good because there weren't that many characters there (too early - before the park opened).

2.) Is it right that you can only book a maximum of 2 weeks before the date that you want?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

We are staying in one of the on site hotels so the 7.30 sitting wouldn't be too early for us to get to.

Note: We went to a character tea last time we visited DLP and enjoyed it - but we thought we would do something different this time (also Character Lunch or Dinner is a bit outside our budget)

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply.

Clive

Hi margaretb8777 ~ Reid, Jackie, Elaine and I welcome you to the DLP DISboard. :welcome:

We're a friendly lot on here, so please join in on any thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each.

If you haven't had a look yet, the DLP DISboard posting rules are here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1477038) and the DIS posting guidelines can be found here (http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm). :)

I haven't been to the character breakfast at Cafe Mickey myself but I would suspect that the 7.30am sitting may well be less busy. However, if there are Extra Magic Hours on the day you are planning on going, I would choose the 9.30am sitting as that way you will get at least an hour in the park first then you will have built up a good appetite and can enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

I have heard of people being unable to book the breakfast until very close to the date but not sure if this is only in busy times. Hopefully someone else can help with this. :)

I can't remember if I had to wait to book a slot for breakfast at Cafe Mickey - it might have been within 2 weeks that I did book.

If theres EMH on the morning you want to have breakfast, I'd suggest you book the later sitting. We had the early one, but be aware that the characters don't start coming out at Cafe Mickey until after 8am, so even if your booking is for 7.30, I'd suggest not going until around 8. I was completely finished eating, and was on my 2nd cup of coffee, by the time the characters started coming around at 8.10am. And then there were only 3 at a time.

To be perfectly honest, as you're already paying for breakfast with your onsite hotel price, I kind of think paying again for breakfast at Cafe Mickey is a bit of a waste of money. I'd rather have lunch or dinner there (we love having dinner at Cafe Mickey, even though it can get busy :))

We went to Cafe Mickey for breakfast on our last day and went for the later sitting at 9.30. It was busy, there were people from the first sitting still there! Lots of characters, but not much time with each character and other people were shoving their children forward rather than waiting for them to go to the table.

In all honesty, we preferred our lunchtime meal at Cafe Mickey - it didn't cost us much more than the breakfast and it was much nicer. Lots more interaction, quieter atmosphere and nicer food (wasn't impressed with the cooked breakfast tbh).

We booked Cafe Mickey when we booked the holiday, so about six weeks beforehand.

I'm with you on this one, Elaine. Clive ~ I note what you said about budget but it doesn't have to be expensive to eat at Cafe Mickey. From memory the pizzas are approx €15 but they are absolutely HUGE.
