Hi all!

First I must admit that I never seem to have the time to scrapbook, so forgive me for intruding. But I'm stumped, and need your suggestions. My 10 YO son is trying to make some pop-pom critters (aka: Weepuls from the 1980's era). We are having a whole lot of trouble finding feet.

Buying the critters already-made is not an option, because they are too expensive for his purposes.

I am wondering if it is possible to have some feet made out of "foamie" material with sticker backing, and figured scrapbookers would be the group to ask. Are there any die-cast machines that could have a die made to create a feet pattern? How hard/expensive would it be to have a feet pattern made?

We have tried heart-shaped foamies, and they are okay, but finding a pack of bright colors and all one size has been fruitless. Plus his cutting skills (and mine!) for all those toes is not that great. And talk about tedious.... :sad2:

Suggestions, anyone? Pleeeeease?!

I found this blog that even has a pattern for the feet - unfortunately it looks like you have some cutting to do. Have you tried an exacto knife? I used to love these when I was kid!

Actually the heart idea is a good one for the feet - you can use the fun foam sheets and purchase a heart punch if you don't already have one. I would put double stick carpet tape on the foam (usually has a removable liner on one side and I would leave that on. Punch the heart and just say your weepul is wearing shoes - I wouldn't even bother with cutting toes out.

Juliegirl, the pattern in the first link is the one we used for our initial try. Trust me, it is tedious. I'm not sure I'd trust the 10 YO with an exacto knife, and this is supposed to be his project.

Where would I find a 3MM heart-shaped punch? I've seen small ones in craft stores, but not one that big. I'll google and see what I can find, but if you have suggestions, please share.

Thanks!

Any decent craft store should have heart punches in all sizes. I prefer the lever ones -they seem much easier to punch. There are some called Giga punches made by Marvy I think - they have bigger punches.
