ETA: Put up deck board (to keep the cats safe). Didnt think I had to worry about this since winter was comming. A few minutes ago there was a knock on my door, a odd rythmic knock, like my freind makes (but I didnt hear screaming kids so I knew it wasnt her). So i get up and slowly approch the door figuring I pissed off a neighbor. So I open the door slowly and heres my hot neighbor. He laughs and tells me his cat is on my deck. I invite him in (darn me, didnt fly with flylady today, so its a mess) and he heads out on the deck to get the cat who proptly meows at him and runs onto the tiny roof between our aparments. LOL. So now I feel the need to fly with the flylady (and pray the guy dosent let the landlord in on my 3 cat secret)

I tried to knock something off the list early. I tried to paint my tv tray tables back to crisp black (before I paint my blue design) so I went to de-paint the mess on my hands and in the sink and accidnetly scubbed the skin off.

OK, sore... yup... doing yardwork like that isn't for me. And there was DH last night saying it will build strong muscles. Better than going to the gym....funny guy :sad2:
Mouse update- Both traps are empty... Crossing my fingers that the 1 caught was the 1 and only...
FCM- Isn't that always the way! Like going to the market without doing your hair and makeup, and meeting someone you know who looks great... Just one of lifes little jokes... Hope Mr Hot Neighbor doesn't spill about your furbabies!
PBF- Dinner - chicken satay, rice, and veggies
yummmmm, care to share the recipe?
Hope everyone feels better this week!! I was finally able to get the seasonal flu shot last week. There was employee health right outside the caf when I was going in for lunch :teeth: Now to just get the swiny one...

I know!! Its scary!
VERY scary!! And we are going to the World for our 10th anniversary the week before Christmas. Don't get me wrong--I'm very excited, but I'm just wishing that 10 years ago, we'd gotten married some other time besides the week before Christmas!!
Your story about the neighbor tickled me! I can clean and clean my house and no one comes over. Let it be all piled up and junky, and it's like Open Season on my house!!
ETA: Deb--Tell DH that hitting him upside the head with the leaf blower would also build strong muscles. . .maybe even more so, since you'll have to lift it above your head!! :rotfl2:
Hope everyone has a terrific day!!

Forgot the school is having a "Family Game Night" tonight. So, that'll be in there between dishes and TV :)
La Princess woke up fine and dandy this morning. Must have just been tiredness. She is a bit sniffly, but I'm not really surprised. It's been strange weather lately. Cold and warm, cold and warm. It was in the 60s yesterday (and supposed to be today), but it snowed in October. :confused3 Mother Nature is all discombobulated!
Went downstairs to make my coffee and DH had made himself a to go cup and forgot it! SCORE! He uses a bit more sugar than I do, but it hadn't all dissolved, so it was perfect!
I'm working tomorrow (just for a few hours to clean up some filing and to make up some time for missing the day after Thanksgiving), so I'll stop by Mike's then instead of going this morning and being late. ;)

I'm pretty much done all the Xmas shopping (except stuff for the dog's stocking!). I love to shop and find bargains year-round and love December but prefer to spend the month doing fun things with the family instead of pushing my way through crowded stores and malls. Also, we're having (another!) modest holiday this year, since we're in major saving mode for our 2010 summer WDW trip/cruise.
Here's the chicken satay (and we use pretty much the same recipe for beef) recipe for Debbie and anyone else who wants it. We usually grill this outside, but it is fine baked or grilled inside, too. The recipes are very forgiving and really lend themselves to customized changes for your tastes. We're not really the "measuring types" when we cook - usually more of "dumpers and shakers" (!) - so feel free to adapt these measurements as you wish.
Marinade:
1 clove of pressed/chopped garlic or a very healthy shake of garlic powder
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon each of cumin and coriander
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Mix ingredients together in a bowl or ziplock bag and add meats. Stir or squash bag around to coat meat and refrigerate at least two hours or overnight.
Basting Sauce (optional, but extra yummy if grilling outside!)
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/4 teaspoons each of cumin and coriander
Mix together and cover and refrigerate until needed.
Peanut Sauce
1 cup water
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 clove of pressed/chopped garlic or a very healthy shake of garlic powder
Put these ingredients in a saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring, until mixture boils and thickens (couple of minutes). Remove from heat.
Stir in:
brown sugar (2 tablespoons, but I usually use a bit more - light or dark, your choice),
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
shake to taste of crushed red pepper
salt to taste (I usually need to add a bit - the amount varies, I think, depending upon the brand of peanut butter and soy sauce - some must have more salt in them than others.)
You can slice your meats and skewer them onto water-soaked bamboo sticks or we just usually slice or cube up the meats without the skewers. Grill/bake/broil whatever...your meats after removing them from the marinade, use the optional basting sauce while cooking the meat, and serve with the warm peanut sauce. Yum!

I had pretty much figured it out. but the phone call came in today.
apprently the superindendant ( who already needs a trip to mars off of someones foot) has put out a 1.7 million short fall note. this after he spent 10 grand on cherry cabinets for his office. oh yeah back to the subject has all the para fearing for their jobs and since this program would be the last to get cut they were viing for it. Since it never fully opened to the public (other than if you looked at their website) i was put to the bottem of the barrel (they still want me but their hands are tied)
On a happy note the PCA job is mine if i want it I have to pass all the background checks and such and still waiting on their offer............ so the waiting continues........ and that wont start till first full week of dec. because of orientations. hurry up and wait.
Thank you for all your support and believing in me. I'm still bumming and need to get over it. but at least I know it wasn't me.

Christy -
Sheesh - what a mess! As you said, at least now you know. Too bad! Glad the PCA one looks like it will come through though - maybe you'd get paid for the orientations?

Will you like the PCA position?

I love the people and the helping them. I hate cleaning houses but it's part of the job. I'll love setting my schedule hate putting more miles on my truck.
I'm going to love working at something where I can help and that is the big part of it. I will also know if I want to go on to the lna.

Christy so sorry the first one didn't work it.. :( As for the super needing a swift kick, seems rightfully so from what you told us!! That's nuts... good dollars would have been better spent on the kids then his backside and papers! :(
I hope everything works out for the PCA job... even though it'll put extra miles on the truck!!!

so sorry Christy. i know how bad you wanted it. But it was not you. And take comfort in that. I feel as if it was not meant to be. that's all. Maybe the other job will be something that turns out to be BETTER than the other one. you never know. And you can always keep looking too. Nobody says that if you take that other one you have to stay forever. If something better comes along go for it.

I have been told by 2 of the 3 that interviewed me that I am high on the list for any job that comes up up there. 1 went so far as to say for anything including 1 on 1 which I think is special. I think you have to be a really good fit for those special jobs. So I've run the roads bball camp > pool back to camp sat and work on projects for the craft show on sat> back to pool and scraffed down dinner which was yummmy if I do say so.
So now I'm waiting for HR to come through with the phone call. I will try and see how it goes and I will still look. It doesn't help that I'm being picky I want the best of both worlds and that will come when the time is right I fully believe that.
Thank you from the bottem of my heart for all of the support and prayers there is a reason it didn't work out and the time and job will all fall into place sooner or later. You all mean the world to me.

Debbie (and others who may have already printed off the satay recipe) -
I just realized I left the salt off of the ingredient list for the peanut sauce - I just edited the post, but wanted to be sure you saw it!
Our chicken and the sauce was yummy tonight - everyone *really* scraped their plates! We have a portion of everything saved for Z2H, who is working late tonight and will eat later...
Hope anyone who tries these recipes will report back - especially if you tinkered with the recipes and let me know what you tried and liked!
