Boat Ride from Boardwalk to MGM

I have heard you can take a boat from the Boardwalk to MGM...has anyone done this? I am so confused as to where and how you get there....I have seen the maps of the WDW area and I can't seem to connect the lake with the Boardwalk and MGM....maybe I am missing something......any info would be great! How long is the ride? Thanks!

I've done it myself. Just go to the dock at the Boardwalk and wait for the Friendship launch. It will take you to MGM, the other launch will take you to Epcot, if you choose :D

The boats cross under the Boardwalk area walkways and over the roadways to get to there destinations.

Yes, you can take a boat, but there is also a walkway that goes from the BW to MGM. I learned about it here and then used it on our last trip. Its about a 10 minute walk along the water. We hardly saw anyone walking there while we did. It was very quiet. If you go all the way to the right end of the BW past Jellyrolls you will see signs and one of them says "To MGM"(or something like that). Just follow that arrow and it will get you there.

These boats make a round trip between the Boarwalk, BC?YC, Epcot, Swan, Dolphin and MGM. It takes approximately 20 minutes for the ride from MGM to Epcot.

The boat route (at least as of last December when we were there):

At the Boardwalk dock, Epcot is on the right side, MGM is on the left side (as you stand on the Boardwalk facing the walkway to the dock).

We always enjoy the boat rides.

On the return trip we usually get off at the Swan/Dolphin and walk over the bridge back to the Boardwalk. It saves about twenty minutes worth of time. Also if there is a long line at the Boardwalk, we cross over and wait at the Swan/Dolphin.
