View Full Version : Two Months, Two Lovebirds, One Finished TR!

Dbf and I are going for a "2 month" trip (I WISH! We say 2 month because we will be there Jan 28-Feb 2, so there's two months :rotfl:), and I'm so excited!! I will take lots of pictures and write a TR on this one. =) I am going to use last years park hours so I can start planning. We purchased our package, got a 6 day/5 night package and staying at the Fairfield Inn. We also requested a DLR facing room at the top, so we can get a view hopefully! The total came out to about $781 I think, which is good because we saved up $1200, thinking it would be at least that much. And the rest we have to pay for is gas, food, souvies, and whatever. :) THE PARK HOURS ARE FINALLY UP! :goodvibes
Thursday January 28,2010: Hours are from 10-8 (10-6 DCA). We will be leaving at about 5 in the morning to drive to DLR. The drive is about 5 to 6 hours so we will be there at about 9:30 to 10am, since CA is an hour behind us (Gotta love AZ). We MIGHT leave earlier so we can use our MM, so we can get AP's right away to give us a discount at Blue Bayou and our Segway Tour. (DBF has a AAA card but I don't). We will go nuts, and just do ride after ride. :rotfl: There won't be any sort of plan for that because I don't think we'll follow it anyway. We will leave the park around 3 to check in to our hotel... we are staying at Fairfield Inn (Thanks to DisneySuiteFreak for posting pictures of her stay and getting us hooked :thumbsup2)! Then head to the parks by about 5 to ride more rides until 8. After 8 we will go get Olive Garden take-out and eat it at the hotel!
Friday January 29, 2010: Hours are from 9-12 (10-9 DCA). We were going to do the Segway Tour but decided since we are going to get AP's that we'd rather save money and do it another time. So this day will be like another day to do anything we want, however we do have a PS for 1pm at Blue Bayou! We may also watch the fireworks at 9:25 but we'll see what we feel like doing. :goodvibes
Saturday January 30, 2010: Hours are from 8-11 (10-8 DCA). We will get up about 6:30-7, so we can try to use our MM by 8am (not sure this is the plan still). Don't have a plan set up but since we hardly ever do any shows (I will make room for Tiki Room one of these days). But we willl be watching the RDCT fireworks by 9:25pm. We will probably hit the rest of the rides we want to then take off back to the hotel at closing time.
Sunday January 31, 2010: Hours are from 9-11 (10-9 DCA). We will get to the park whenever, probably around 9:30. Ride some rides, hang out, take pictures, and walk around and find new places and just hold each other's hands. We will just do whatever we feel like the whole day.
Monday February 1, 2010: Hours are from 10-8 (10-6 DCA). Our last full day at the park. We will have an early breakfast at Mimi's, and get to the park by about 9:30-10. We will want to be at the park the whole day. We will probably start checking out things we've never seen before, doing a little more walking than riding. At least for the first and last part of the day.
Tuesday February 2, 2010: Hours are 10-8 (10-6 DCA). Dun dun dun... last day! :sad1: We will eat whatever breakfast we have, and get to the park by opening. We will do whatever rides we want to do that we haven't done or would like to do for the 20th time. We will be leaving at around 5 to drive back home. :car:
***Dining Plans***
Thursday
-Breakfast: On the road, probably McDonalds or Chick-fil-A.
-Lunch: In the park, Bengal BBQ.
-Dinner: Olive Garden Take-out
Friday
-Breakfast: Mimi's Cafe to use free Breakfast thing. *Must remember to sign up for e-club in a few days. :goodvibes
-Lunch: PS for 1pm at Blue Bayou!
-Dinner: We will get some snacks at DLR for when we get hungry but we will be able to wait for dinner until after DL is closed, then head over to In-n-Out or something or even Pizza Hut express in FFI! :)
Saturday
-Breakfast: Hotel breakfast or McDonalds.
-Lunch: Celebration BBQ, late so we don't have to eat again at park.
-Dinner: I haven't decided yet. If we eat at Celebration BBQ we won't be very hungry until a bit later, so we could just figure out something and eat snacks and have a microwavable pizza when we get back to the hotel.
Sunday

Lunch: Bengal BBQ and RRPP.
Dinner: Cocina Mexican Grill.
Monday
Breakfast: Mimi's again to use the other free breakfast coupon!

Hey there!!! I think the Segway tour would be a great surprise!!
I think you have to call and make reservations for it. Up to 30 days in advance. The tour is only at 7:30am. And it's $99/person. Here's the link to the disneyland website if you didn't check it out already. HERE (http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/tours/detail?name=CruzinDisneysCaliforniaAdventureParkTo urPage).
About making a PS for Blue Bayou. What we do is always make PS's. Regardless if it's off-season or not. I have the Dining number in my phone and if we can't make our PS for whatever reason, I call and cancel. I hate waiting in lines for a long time, especially for food and when I know it could have been prevented by just making a PS.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice! Yeah it wouldn't hurt to make a PS! Do they allow you to just buy desert? Knowing dbf he will tell me to get something to eat too while we're there though as a "surprise." He's not very good with surprises, but he tries!
I wonder if I should tell him the surprise for Christmas, or should I just wait to wake him up at 6:30! :lmao:

I have a few places that I know we will want to eat at, instead of our usual Hungry Bear (since the river will be drained, I probably won't feel as obligated to eat there) and Red Rockets. :goodvibes
-Rancho Del Zocalo
-White Water Snacks
-Taste Pilots
-Tomorrowland Terrace
-Riverbelle
-Blue Bayou for desert... Cookie Boat! DBF feels so bad that we have been there so many times this year and even though I've wanted a CB we never got one. So sweet! :lovestruc
More to come when I read more trip reports!

Sounds like a great trip!
We drive from AZ all the time and I know that if we leave at 6, with a couple stops for food/bathroom, we can make it to Disneyland by 11:30. Super stoked for our next trip because it will be 10:30 in CA when we get there! :cool1:
Knowing by DH, I would tell him in advance about the Segway tour. He'd just be confused if I tried to do it the morning the day of -- so maybe think of a creative way to surprise him the night before? Something Disney style of course!! (It'd be cool if you could find out if it was booked to capacity beforehand, and then at the park the day before, casually mention wanting to go on the tour. Then once you get him all excited about it, play dumb and ask a CM, and then when you find out there aren't any spots (after getting DBF all pumped about it) you can just...mention...that...perhaps...you ALREADY booked it! Surprise!!) :goodvibes

I know! I love how AZ doesn't do DST and the drive there takes an hour less. But then on the way home it takes an hour more, but we're already sad anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.
I told DBF I would tell him, but he does NOT want to know! Haha, I did tell him that we will need to wake up early and everything, and he is fine with it :). He even knows what day it is and everything! The best part about it is he has NO idea that there are Segways at DL, so that's going to be huge for him. After seeing a police man ride a Segway at the mall, he told me how he has always wanted to ride one and stuff. I was excited!

Subbing! I am going there too but in August. I'm coming from AZ as well. I wanted to do the Segway I didn't know they had those. Where do I get info about that?
We are also planning on going to the Riverbella since we've never eaten there. It'll be a nice change and where is Mimi's Cafe? I think it'd be better than eat breakfast at Ihop but we can't find it I guess we'll go to the contenetal breakfast at the hotel.

Yay! :goodvibes I found info on the Disneyland Website by doing a search after finding out about it through the DIS. I'll post the link! Segway Tourrrr! (http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/tours/detail?name=CruzinDisneysCaliforniaAdventureParkTo urPage) It is expensive but I think it is worth it because he is going to be ecstatic. :lmao:
I have only eaten breakfast at Riverbelle Terrace, and it was really good. I have heard good things about their lunches/dinners as well! I believe Mimi's Cafe is by Hojo? Or so I've heard. Also if it is still going on when you go in August you can become a member at Mimi's and you get a free breakfast! DBF will each sign up and use them on different days, just to be sure we don't get in trouble or something. I heard that Ihop is way too expensive and the last time I ate at Ihop was in California and it was terrible! So I'd go to Mimi's instead because they have good food and good prices. :)
And keep looking at my thread! I don't think it sends updates when I edit the first post, which is what I've been doing lately. I can't wait! Only 13 days!

Now the question is where is the HoJo right outside of the parks?? I like Mimi's I eat at the one here regularly and it's always good food. Sometimes we have to complete with the snowbirds to get in there however it's a pretty popular place when they hare here....
That's cool! Might have to look into the Segway tours!

Hey thanks for letting me know! I am so excited, I am possitive you will have a great time as well! I can't imagine why you wouldn't. :thumbsup2 Yeah we love having lots of time to do whatever we feel like, so we didn't really want to have a specific plan, but most of the dining plans are based off of park hours (Like getting Olive Garden when the park closes at 8), so it's a good thing to have. :) I am so happy that it's going to be here soon but I am already thinking about how sad I am going to be when we get back to boring old AZ! So I told DBF we better make use of our AP's pretty quick. :lmao::rotfl:

I have yet to figure this out too... You know you've given me the incentive to look on Google Earth now (I am better when answering other people's questions rather than my own :lmao:). BRB......:surfweb:
 Ok it looks like it is right outside the park to the right of the Esplanade(sp) if you are facing DL. The opposite side of DTD. You walk out to Harbor, cross it, and turn left and you walk down to Manchester Ave and you'll see it right there. It's not too far of a walk and I think I've walked from HOJO when I was younger because I remember seeing a Mimi's Cafe, which is across Manchester from HOJO. :dance3:

Oh yeah I live about three miles from there. :) I think it's funny when I see people pulled off to the side of the road to see the jets, when I've been around them for about 8 years or so, waking me up at 6-7am flying around. :rotfl: And no prob! I have been meaning to check that out also. :)

So far for our trip we have:
-like 5 little bottles of shampoo, 2 of conditioner (we need more!)
-little thing of toothpaste
-sunscreen
-sanitary wipe things
-little bottles of hand sanitizer
-one disposable camera, want to get another one that's waterproof
-4 disposable ponchos (might need more, it might rain four of our days)
-SNACKS! 12 pack water bottles, 8 pack powerades, 12 pack chips ahoy, nutter butter, and oreos, poptarts, and 26 pack of assorted chips. We're almost ready! Trying to think of what else to buy....
4 more days! AHH! :yay::woohoo::cool1::dance3:

Well I don't want to put this off forever so I will start my TR now! I'm not excited to be back but DBF and I had an AMAZING trip. Everything went great. So here goes! I have to warn you though, I take pictures with DBF's phone, and while they usually turn out great, this time the resolution was unknowingly set to 324 or something. The pictures turned out small, and I was unhappy!! :sad2:
Thursday January 28: We woke up at about 3am and got ready to go. My truck was parked in the garage so we had our bags already in the truck and strapped down. By 3:30am we were ready to go, so we were off! We drove and on the 303 we saw a tipped over semi truck! :scared1: That was scary to see but it seemed like everyone was ok and no other cars were involved. We kept driving and I took a note that we got to the border at 6am, but I am not sure if that's AZ time or CA time. We kept driving and driving and didn't eat anything along the way because we weren't hungry. We got near Palm Springs and there was snow on the mountains!
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0128000633.jpg
We arrived at DLR at about 9:30 and walked right in and used our MM. The crowds were more than I expected but it was still a lot less crowded than when I went in October and it happened to be Gay Days. :scared1: That was soooo crowded! My mom texted me and told me to send her a picture. This is what I sent her. :)
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0128000919.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0128000922.jpg
From there we went straight to Peter Pan. That was the only ride we rode because the line was kind of long and it was almost 10 by the time we got out. We decided to eat a breakfast burrito from Village Haus. When the rest of the park opened we went over to Adventureland. We got FP's for Indy and rode it, then went to HM and Pirates. At some point in the day we rode Buzz for the first time. I liked it, and I smoked DBF's score by 20,000. :rotfl:
We rode rides like crazy for most of the day. At around 1pm we went to DCA and went to Taste Pilots for lunch. We shared a B2BBQ Sandwich. That was soooo good! After that we went to check in at the hotel. I LOVED:lovestruc our hotel. It was so nice and clean, the people were nice, and the view from the top was great! We were on level 2 but we went to the top a few times to see and no one had any problem with it. :)
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0130002045.jpg (Sorry, I thought I had pics of the view)
After that we went to DCA for the rest of the time until it closed, and went to DL for the remainder of the night.
Friday January 29: We got up and had breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. I had Smoked bacon and eggs from the healthy menu, and DBF had an omelet. It was so good! We loved it and will definitely be going there again. We didn't while we were there on our trip but we are going to use the last free breakfast this weekend. We did the same thing Friday as we did on Thursday. Rode rides like crazy! We went to DCA first. We went and rode Soarin' first.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0128001310.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0128001311.jpg
We stayed at DCA until about 12 and headed over to DL to ride Pirates and HM before our PS for Blue Bayou at 1:10pm. We went in and within about ten minutes we were being seated. We kept walking closer and closer to the water. And every table I looked at thinking that was the one, it wasn't. He sat us by the water!! :) I was so happy. It was a good spot too. It took forever for the waiter to come take our drink order but it was alright. I told the waiter that I had eaten before our PS so I was only getting a salad, and he seemed like it was perfectly fine. (I hadn't eaten but I didn't want to tell him I was just trying to save DBF money!) DBF ordered the Monte Cristo. (Don't get mad, but ) We didn't like it at all. I had one slice of the sandwich and my tummy hurt the rest of the day. My salad was really good though. DBF and I decided that just once was enough, until they get the cookie boat back. We rode rides for the rest of the day but I felt sick so we went back to the hotel at about 8-9 after we had used all of our FP's. We went to the top to watch the fireworks from there. I wasn't thinking it would be any good. There were a few people up there already. The fireworks started and I couldn't believe it but you could HEAR the music. It was awesome! We even saw Tink:tinker: flying from the Matterhorn! I was in awe. :) After that, it was bed time.
Saturday January 30: We had breakfast at McDonalds this day. I had a Yogurt Parfait (SO GOOD!) and iced coffee. DBF had a breakfast burrito and an egg McMuffin. We went to Disneyland at about 9:10. We wanted to go to DCA to ride TSMM because we hadn't done that yet. So we rode the train around once and by that time it was about 9:30-9:40. We got in the park and we didn't want to sit around and wait for the rest of the park to open so we went and rode Soarin'. I remember it being a walk-on. After that we took the GRR path to Paradise Pier. We got to TSMM and the line was probably about 30 mins. We didn't care too much so we waited in it.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0130001036a.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0130001037.jpg
We really liked this ride! I didn't know DBF liked it as much as me until he told my brother about it when we got back about how cool it was. I couldn't believe how real it felt. I really thought things were flying at me, hahaha. After that we rode Screamin' of course! After that I took a bunch of pictures of Paradise Pier.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0128001158.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0202001033.jpg
Then DBF and I thought it would be funny to make it look like we are part of the Billboards. :lmao:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0202001048.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mykoolpics/DLR%20Jan%202010/0202001049a.jpg
Later on we went to DL and had RRPP for a late lunch and early dinner. Then we went back to the hotel by closing.

I'm amazed at the quality of the pictures you got off the phone!!! Even pics from Soarin'.....I'm impressed!!
We loved Blue Bayou when we went last March, but sounds like some things have changed there & have read a number of not-happy customers when it came to there food.......real bummer!!
We actually had the Monte Cristo sandwich at Cafe Orleans & it was very good. Very hot, crisp.....but very rich. I can only eat one of the wedges.....but I think getting it when it's just out of the fryer is key....if it sits at all....to me, it would get greasy & definately cause a gut ache.
Liking the report & pics so far!!!

Sunday January 31: We had the same thing from McDonalds again. Today we went to DL first. I remember wanting to ride Space more than anything so we got the most FP's for it. For lunch on this day I think we went to DCA. I had Lucky Fortune Cookery and didn't like it. I got Terriaki chicken and it just wasn't what I was used to or something so I tried to finish it all. DBF had soft tacos from... Cocina Mexican Grill? After that we went back to DL and rode rides until about 4:30. Then we went to the hotel to get the truck and directions to Olive Garden. We went to the mall it was at and thought it was so funny that there was an Olive Garden inside the mall, right next to a Vans store. :rotfl: Now we decided that every time we go to our mall we're going to look for the Olive Garden. :sad2: I got salad :cloud9: and Minestroni (also :cloud9:) and DBF got Tour of Italy and extra bread sticks. SOOO GOOD! After we pigged out on that we went back to DCA until it closed I think at 8. Then we went to DL and got a good spot for the fireworks about 10 minutes before it started. They were amazing! After that we rode more rides and went back to the hotel.
Monday February 1: Today we went to the park at 9:30, and since it was opening at 10 we didn't get very far in. We went to some sort of bakery and I had chocolate milk and some of DBF's blueberry muffin for breakfast. As soon as it opened we went and rode rides. Which is pretty much all we did that day. We went to Target for head ache medicine and got lunch at Taco Bell. Then came back and rode more rides. At 8 when DL closed, we went back to the hotel. We weren't tired so we decided we needed to use our free movie rental from the hotel. We rented Step Father and got another pizza from pizza hut. About halfway through the movie stopped! :sad2: So we called the front desk and she said that they were having some problems and when it's back up we can rent whatever movie we want to. DBF was tired and didn't want to go through the whole part of the movie again so I decided to rent Twilight New Moon. I fell asleep about 20 mins in and was so disappointed!
Tuesday February 2: Today was the last day. :sad1: We checked out and put everything in the truck, and drove to the parking structure. I forgot to add but on Friday we upgraded our tickets to Annual Passes. DBF got a Deluxe and I got a Premium. So I had free parking at the structure. We put all of our bags inside my truck and went to the park. We knew the time would go by too fast. We went to DCA first to ride Soarin', TOT and Screamin' the last time. Then we went to DL and rode Indy, HM, Splash, and Pirates. Then we went to Space and found it was actually a walk-on. For the first time the whole trip we had a decent crowd amount! And we couldn't even take advantage of it because we had to leave. But first we rode Space like 4-5 times. Then we went back to the structure by 2:30 and got out of the lot by 3. We both had tears in our eyes. :sad1:
Pictures coming right up!

I'm amazed at the quality of the pictures you got off the phone!!! Even pics from Soarin'.....I'm impressed!!
I thought so too! We usually get GREAT pictures. I sold my camera because I realized I hardly ever used it. All of my pictures are taken from DBF's phone. I just wish I had set the resolution, but there's no way I would have known unless I looked into it.
Yeah I don't think we'll ever eat there. We didn't order anything else off the menu but it's too expensive and nothing really appeals to us. We also looked at the menu of Napa Rose and nothing sounded good there either. Maybe we're just too used to Taco Bell. :lmao:

At some point in the trip we rode Monsters Inc for the first time. When we got to (I can't remember her name... The secretary lady) I tried talking to her but she didn't say anything back. I felt incredibly stupid but then the lady in front of us said "She really does talk back!" And I didn't feel so bad anymore. :rotfl: But after we got off the ride, I looked out and I saw.... SULLY!!! I had to wait in line to get a picture with him. The line wasn't too long. I finally got up to him and DBF took these pictures!

Then he gave me one last hug and make kissing noises. I was so happy!! :sulley: He's adorable.
I took a bunch of pictures of the Haunted Mansion. Some of them turned out pretty good for being so small!

Tower of Terror, my favorite!
And that's it. =/ I took more video than I did pictures this time. It was a great trip, and I can't wait until we can plan another one just like it! Hope everyone liked my report. I tried to remember everything but we mostly just did rides the whole time. Nothing else really! I think we're going back in April for our anniversary trip. We might stay at PPH but not sure. Maybe I'll write another PTR soon! :goodvibes

That sounds like such a fun trip, and your photos were lovely! (Even if they were small. :) ) It's so funny that your DBF's phone almost certainly has a higher max resolution than my camera. :flower3:
So you got the APs, huh? How many more trips are you going to take to "pay" for them?

Thank you!
And we are planning on quite a few trips. We pushed moving out until summer and my loans are finally piling in so we have a bit of extra money now. :goodvibes Our trips don't cost very much so we can do it every so often if we cut back on eating out and doing much around here! The next planned one is our anniversary but DBF says he wants to surprise me sooner than that so I'll have to see!

Haha! We meant to go to the Tiki Room but we just never got to it. I don't think DBF was very interested. Also we kept thinking "Oh we'll do it tomorrow" until finally "tomorrow" was the day we went home. :headache: Hahah.

Sorry! Haven't checked this in a long time. Too sad. :sad2: Even if we do get to go again a bit more this year, nothing will ever compare to that trip. So much time together, just me and DBF, holding hands and running from ride to ride. And we decided not to do the Tour, because we wanted to save money. We are going to do it another time when the trip doesn't already cost a lot of money!
