Thanksgiving 2009 availability

We just decided yesterday to go to Disney for the long Thanksgiving weekend. Our annual passes expire on 12/8/09 so we figured why not get in one last visit. We are flying out on Thanksgiving (the 26th) and will be staying for three nights. I called yesterday morning and they only had availability for the 28th in a studio at SSR so I booked that. I waitlisted the other two nights for a studio at SSR or OKW (she said that we can only waitlist for two resorts).

When I called yesterday there were no studios or 1 BRs anywhere on property available. When I called back this morning to check, there was a 1BR at BWV available for the 27th, but we really didn't want to spend 60 points for one night. I am taking that as a good sign that it is possible for something to open up. If nothing opens up we will just stay off property for the first two nights (at least we will be at Disney).

Has anyone had any luck in the past getting a room for Thanksgiving last minute or is this just a dream?

I have been on a waitlist for the 3 nights before Thanksgiving for 2 months. When I booked in Sept, only OKW and SS had availability in a 1 bedroom unit. We choose to stay at SS, as we have never stayed there, but my kids really want to be at AKV. I guess it will be SS for us, which will be fine too!

If you keep calling I bet you will pick up some other days, expecially when you get inside 10 days and someone with a reservation has a "flu" issue.

I called MS back this evening just after 5pm and there were two studios available for the 27th. AKV Kidani standard view and BWV preferred (garden / pool) view. We took the AKV room.:thumbsup2

Now we are just waiting for Thanksgiving night. Hopefully something will open up. The woman that I spoke with said that inside of 7 days there is no waitlist so if something opens up it does not get gobbled up by a waitlist.

Yep we are on a wait list for the 24th and 25th. I made a back up AP cash reservation. Wish DH work would have told everyone earlier they were required to take Thanksgiving week off.

When I call to check the wait list they always ask if there is anything else they could do for me. I always suggest declaring more inventory so my wait list will clear.

Our waitlist for Thanksgiving night came through today.:cool1: We will be staying three nights in three different rooms.

Nov. 26th - SSR Studio
Nov. 27th - AKV Kidani Standard View
Nov. 28th - AKV Jambo Savanna View

I am now on a waitlist for AKV Jambo Savanna View for the first two nights.
If it comes through, they can link our reservations and we won't have to move. We are keeping our fingers crossed but even if it doesn't come through, no big deal.....we will be in DisneyWorld! We will each only have one piece of carry-on luggage so we will just live out of suitcases.:thumbsup2
