~The Daily Grind~ 11/6/09

It's Friday!! :dance3: I'm so ready for this work week to be over!!!

Mouse update: DH has some traps out... nothing yet, but I'm grossed out to say the least!

Tonight DH and I are going to the wedding of a very dear friend of mine. She has been a widow for as long as I've known her, and now is starting a new life with her soon to be DH. :goodvibes Even though it's an evening wedding, I'm still not sure how dressy it's all going to be. I have a very dressy outfit, and a semi dressy one that I can spruce up with really nice jewelry. I just don't want to overdo... DH likes the semi dressy one the best... I'm so undecided!

My list for today:

Caffeinate http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e147/ddavis860/smiley/smiley_drinkcoffee.gif This repeats every day!!

Work till 3p

Wedding at 7p

Have a Great Day Everyone!! :teeth:

Deb- I say semi-dressy....especially if it can be spruced up. But other people who have been to weddings can chime in too....

I'm guessing people aren't going to remember what you were wearing unless it's a miniskirt... my mom still complains about the people who wore miniskirts to her wedding! :lmao:

Today:
Up
Dis
Breakfast
Homework
Meeting at noon
Home?
Work at 3
Home again
More homework
Pack stuff for crop
Sleep

Someone at my work is swining..... :headache: meaning I have to cover for him now, since they gave him Tamiflu and told him not to leave his house.

And I start my seasonal job next week! Woohoo!

And a funny story:
I have to write a thesis proposal for class... I gave my teacher my ideas:
1) Elizabeth the I's speech to the troops before the Spanish Armada
2) Disney World and its effects on Florida (or at least the surrounding part) in terms of social, political, economic, and environmental impacts.

Guess what he said I should do?
Yep. Disney.

I love my professor!

Z2H- :thumbsup2 That paper sounds like it's going to be FUN! It's good that you prof "gets it"!!

The first time we were at Disney, DH made a wrong turn and we ended up in the parts where you aren't supposed to go or see... We call it "Dad's Backlot Tour" now. We got so far into the workings of WDW, it was really cool, till we were stopped by security :lmao: What we found so interesting was the HUGE recycle area, and the trash disposal area, also huge... And it was all so clean, even the parts you aren't supposed to see :thumbsup2

And thanks for the semi-formal advice! I was http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e147/ddavis860/smiley/spitcoffee.gif about the miniskirt!

Mouse update- He left a thank you note for DH for the nice peanut butter that was loaded in the traps...all the traps are clean and UNSPRUNG!! :rotfl2: WHAT'S UP WITH DAT!!!

Good morning, everyone!! Hallelujah for FRIDAY!!! This week, it's been a long time coming!!

Deb--that mouse has some serious skills!! And I'm with Z2H, I vote for the semi-dressy! An evening wedding sounds like so much fun!!

Z2H--woohoo! A Disney paper!! That sounds awesome to write!!

So last night, I was a wimp and went to sleep at 8:15. Bless DH--he said, "I'll take care of DS after his bath, you just go on to sleep!" I feel better than last week, but the coughing and stuff is still wearing me out!! It's Friday, though, so no stress!!

Here's my list for today:

1. Up
2. Caffeinate
3. Journal some Disney pages?
4. DS up
5. DS to mom's
6. Work 1/2 day--LOTS to do!!
7. Pick up DS early

13. Watch DVR'd show
14. Dinner--?? We ate at Chili's last night, and it didn't love me.
15. Go to sleep sort of early--we don't have a lot to do this weekend, and I'm ready to relax!!

Everyone have a terrific Friday!!

Debbie, I agree on the semi-formal. I'm sure it'll be a lovely wedding. Your mouse does sound really smart. I'm sure he enjoyed his peanut butter!:lmao:

ZTH, what fun to write about Disney!! Gold star for your professor!!!!!

SIOH, I'm glad you got some extra rest. Hopefully you'll get rid of that cough and feel back to normal soon.

Deb, that means you either have tiny little mouse that doesn't trip the weight limit OR you have huge honking mouse that reach over not touch the trigger. :thumbsup2

Oh and if DH likes the semi-dressy, you should go with it. :thumbsup2

Dogs got skunked last night. My house smells - BAD. I can't escape the smell in any room - except - ready for it - the LAUNDRY room. :confused3 How did the skunk know I haven't done laundry all week? :lmao:

Sneaking off to Archivers to get my free stuff with a coupon and use my 30% off and then I guess I'll be going to Sams for a LOT of tomato juice. :thumbsup2

So, my list is:

Cookie Monster was yesterday and Big Bird was Wednesday. Is it Sesame Street's birthday?

I think I figured out what I'm going to to tomorrow. First, I'm going to work on the CJ I have so I can leave it with Rhonda. Then I'm going to work on DN's baby album, or make cozies. So, I guess I haven't figured out what I'm doing. :rolleyes1

I'm not going to survive the tween/teen years. OMflippingG. She cried this morning because I wouldn't let her bring CANDY for a "second" snack while they watch a movie (they earned it though good behavior). I cut up an apple and gave her peanut butter to dip it in. I said she could bring 1 piece of candy. She lost it. I just don't know what to do! Why do we have to fight about stupid things? She can't eat popcorn because of the palette expander, I can't wait until that thing comes off! It will make life soooo much easier!

Sorry for the rant...

Whew - finally getting to post. Our Internet access has been down all morning and we just got it back.

Ugh - AYM - we had the skunking last year. The hydrogen peroxide baths/rinses do work (turned our black dog kinda blonde!) - but boy, getting the smell out of the house took awhile. My condolences...!

Christy - the call HAS to come today, right? We're pulling for you!

Today - quiet and easy, I hope!

Kids up and out (TGIF!!!)
Walk dog - woo woo! For the *first time* since the car crash, we did our usual route of six miles! It is a gorgeous day and we just kept walking. I may need a nap later, though!
Return some calls and emails
Pick up DSs prescription that the drugstore refused to give me last night (I was a day "early" and they wouldn't give it to me, despite telling me during the day it was ready for pickup last night. Sheesh!)
Scrub grubby bathroom
Pay/mail a couple of bills
Keep chasing down Girl Scout folks to credit my Visa for the double-billing of our troop's December trip - ggggrrrrr
Get scrappy stuff ready (really, now!) for TBs crop tomorrow
Dinner - bourbon hot dogs, cornbread, salad
Meds and watch StarWars movie with family (?) or collapse in bed early like I did last night?

Mornin'... it's a drive by posting.. I have to get ready and get DD ready for her photo session this morning... I despise the nasty school photos so I have my kids done at a later time....on my own...much better quality! :)

Celebrate w/ DD for her grades.. 3.9 on a 4.0. :)
Check Boys' grades
get ready
everyone loaded (full house today)
DD's photos
target run
lunch
home
movies for the gang
I'm going to scrap

Let's see:
Debbie, has dh tried the glue traps? We use those because they think they are running across the floor.. :) The other reason is I had the little ones and they could get hidden behind and under furniture that was off the ground...but the kids couldn't get them...

Ann, good luck w/ the skunk smell.. that is AWFUL! I remember when I was about 9.. my late Uncle was in his late teens and my youngest aunt was 19... well, we were reading...and he brought in a skunk and dangled it over our heads... Icky! First time I had ever scene my Granny swat at my Uncle w/ a broom stick.. LOL She was so mad at him... He got away but she was running behind him w/ the stick!

Way to go, PJ!!!!!

Ok, y'all, I'm SO excited, and I had to post here just to share!! We hit the 7-month window today for our June trip, so we were calling to switch resorts under our DVC. We were planning to switch it to OKW, even though DH & I don't love that resort. It's fine, but we didn't have the best experience there the one time we stayed there and it's a little sprawling to try to do with DS. We were basically doing it because of points. ANYWAY (sorry, I'm rambling!), DH called just a little while ago, and he had a brainstorm (like the Imagination Movers!!) and we are booked at BOARDWALK!!!!! It is right at the same number of points (just a few more--we just got the standard view). We've never stayed there, but I love when we visit it! And DS'll be almost 2, so he'll be able to run around and everything. DHS is DS's favorite park, so riding the boat there will be exciting, too!

Ok, I should do some work now, but I just had to share my excitement!!!

It is simply amazing how bad it smells INSIDE the house. They were outside when they got skunked. I walked in from the garage from shopping and just about fell over. It is really bad. The Yankee candles aren't working. Frebreezing everything isn't working. Maybe I'll go spray some bleach down in the basement and just make myself throw up some. :thumbsup2 There are some good and disgusting odors to mix up.:rotfl2:

The first time we were at Disney, DH made a wrong turn and we ended up in the parts where you aren't supposed to go or see... We call it "Dad's Backlot Tour" now. And it was all so clean, even the parts you aren't supposed to see :thumbsup2

On my 2nd trip to WDW, DH's first we took the Backstage Magic tour, and going back behind the MK to see the central shops, the monorail barn...it was like going into the Pentagon. There were guard shacks and you had to show an ID to get through. But to show you how much Disney has changed...after 9/11 they redid all the security and added the guard shacks at the entrance to all of the hotels. But they removed some of the guard shacks that prevented you from going down certain roads. Old timers will remember the shack that was on the road that goes in front of Ft Wilderness, and they removed the one behind the MK. There has been so much real estate development behind the MK that the roads behind the MK, I think are used frequently now. They have directional signs to I4 and 192 same as anywhere else on property. My parents live 20 minutes north of the MK, and those MK roads that used to be guarded are now the way that we come to the parks. I see the monorail/train barn first thing, every day. Very surreal.

Professional movers are bringing the big furniture tomorrow, so most of my list is making sure they have a place to put it.

Clean out living room
Clean out bedroom wall where dresser goes
Clean out closet
Extra linens in the closet
Blinds back up downstairs
Decide if guest room needs a scrub down (all the other paint downstairs came off when I wiped it down. Since I was painting anyway, it was okay. But I don't want to paint the guest room, so I don't want to wipe down walls. But if they are nasty...)

Target
LEGO Outlet Store - don't know if it is just ours or all stores...they got a pallet of damaged boxes which then they sell at a 10-30% discount. DH is on a mailing list that listed the sets they got and there were a couple that he wants. Mostly the big, exclusive sets which, of course, hardly ever go on sale, so 10-30% is better than full price.

AWM - the hydrogen peroxide really does work...A few years ago both dogs got sprayed - ick...Good luck

Feeling a little under the weather today (more so than usual) I think I must be having a fibro flare.

Scrapfest in Medford tomorrow - lots to do, rearranging the dinning room to fit in a few more tables. Dh is telecommuting again today - so he will be able to help me a little.

Having a lovely cup of lavender tea that AWM sent me...

Have a great day everyone:goodvibes

Okay finally got home from the errands mom will be the death of me she needed a new camera (L has his 1st meet tomorrow) 2 hours and 4 stores later

Deskunking recipe
1 quart hydrogen peroxide 3%
1/4 cu baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid soap

combine all in a bowl dip sponge into the liquid and rub onto pets dry fur. After dousing the pet with the soulution give animal a bath with a good skin conditioning shampoos because of peroxide.

This is Peter Shack's De-skunking recipe. Hope it works Knock on wood this is one thing I've never had to do. But yet the recipe hangs on the fridge.

Off to take brownies out.

PinballFamily
11-06-2009, 12:47 PM
joyah/AWM - that recipe sounds like the one we used. We did it daily for about a week, as the odor kinda lingered on the dog. For the house, we did little dishes of white vinegar put out in the rooms where they wouldn't get knocked over and replaced them several times a day. It also took about a week for the house to smell fine, too.

SIOH - You'll love the Boardwalk! We've never stayed there, but are Yacht Club-lovers and really enjoy that area of the World. (Also did the Swan once.) The boats to Epcot and DHS are oodles of fun, but also being able to walk to each of those two parks in about ten minutes or so is terrific!!!!!

hopemax - Love, love, love the photos! I've been wanting for years to re-do our living room in a lovely yellow gold. It just seems to radiate happiness!

TB - ahem....will we be able to fit in the dining room with all of the new tables there? :lmao: Let me know if there's anything else you need me to do or bring. I'll cawl you lattah...

Thanks about the vinegar trick. Because the pine smelling Yankee candles and oe de la skunk are killing me.
I'd open the windows, but that is where the skunk is. Still. It lives under the porch. Stupid skunk. The rights side of my porch is covered in its wonderful essential oils. My dogs play rough. They slam themselves all over the porch. There is no way on this good green earth the skunk didn't know dogs live here. Why? Why? Why? Why would it want to live UNDER the dogs?

Did I tell you the smell is worse in the basement? I mean, really bad. There is no more bleach smell at all down there. No mildew or mold or musty smell either. I think I like damp old book smell better then this new fangled skunk stuff.

Oh, did I tell you I used up the last of the vinegar on the last puppy stain on the porch? No. Guess I forgot to tell the shopper of vinegar that too. :sad2:

OH NO AWM!!! STINKY!!! PA-TOOIE!!! Hope the recipe works! Skunk and anything is a bad combo :crazy2:

SIOH- Boardwalk is our home resort. We have stayed there and it was really nice. LONG hallways though...Your DS is gonna love running down them, all the kids do :lmao: I liked being able to walk to Epcot too.

I'm still trying to decide between Boardwalk and Beach Club. I'm thinking that 11mo window is worth the piece of mind of already having it booked. I also like the walk around the lake...

Thanks for all the advice about the wedding clothes. I'm going with the semi dressy, with added bling :)

I'm guessing people aren't going to remember what you were wearing unless it's a miniskirt... my mom still complains about the people who wore miniskirts to her wedding! :lmao:

Just getting around to answering this...it wasn't "people," it was "person" (on DHs "side" I must note!!!) whose skirt just BARELY covered her...um...ASSets. Of course, our photographer just had to get a photo of her from the back hugging me as she went through the reception line...hiking the skirt up *even farther* if that was possible. Real classy chick :rolleyes1 ! We had a morning wedding and a brunch reception, so everyone else was dressed appropriately, if not overly dressy, given the hour.

Off to get the boys ready for hunting season (my part is bedtime), E's 1st year and i'm:scared1: my baby is shooting deer. He's excited and scared and so his tummy is hurting. I need to make sure that video camera is ready for daddy to take and my camera is ready for pictures. We also have L's 1st swim meet at 3:yay:I'm just glad he's trying it. he will be swimming 50 back and 50 free.

I went hunting with my Dad every year once I was old enough until I moved out of state. I still remember my first time deer hunting. I had lots of butterflies too. I never did bag anything myself.

Don't tell my Dad. The only deer I ever had a chance at I shushed away. :rotfl2: Well, I tried to shush it. It just stood there and looked at me. So I shot above its head and then it ran off. My Dad heard me shoot and oh my goodness, I never knew he could run that fast. He thought I got something. :sad1: I didn't have the heart to tell him I missed on purpose. So I made up a story that I shot but fell out of the tree stand at the same time so I missed.
I don't think I will ever tell him the truth. Nope, not ever.

I like pheasant more than venison and elk even better then pheasant. Elk however is very hard to come by. :lmao: I've only had it once. At a restaurant in NJ. This really cool restaurant not too far from Philly. They served wild exotic game every so often. Don't ever eat the zebra. I think it must taste like horse meat. :lmao: The ostrich is more gamey than the alligator but the buffalo is pretty good. And not one thing tasted like chicken. ;)

AWM read your story to DH and he giggled then fully laughed about "falling out of the tree stand". He's sitting there loading E's muzzleloader back ups. E prefers the muzzleloader to a riffle cause he's left eye domintent (means he crosses over to use the scope) and I guess he thinks it doesn't kick as much.
Jennifer I'm so not a hunter I sit in the treehouse and read a book if I even go. I don't even eat venison now moose that is another story.

It's going to be an interesting few weeks around our house.

we have a wild game dinner at a church a few towns up it's not cheap $25 pp but they have all sorts of stuff not for me but the guys enjoy the night out.

Deb, have fun at the wedding.
Ann, you poor thing, that smell will be with you for awhile. Between that and the bleach, ugh, you deserve a special treat.
Christy, why am I thinking about the Chicken movie from awhile back, where the nonperformers met with a sharp demise?

My day was uneventful, got dd up and out for school, called in to work, slept on the couch for a bit, fever and aches have subsided, just need more rest.

Come to CO, I know of at least 2 places that sell elk here. One is a meat shop in the Olde Towne area of our new city. There is a sign on the front door that says, "Please bring carcasses to the rear door ONLY."

That is the one! We never got past the silloutte scene of the chicken, the ax, and the stump. :scared1: DD hightailed it out of the theater soo quick when she saw that. Did Mel Gibson do one of the voices?

Do the ladies have heaters in their hen house? I know the cold will cause them to stop producing and it is getting a bit nippy on the McNippers at night.:rotfl2:

I am definitely feeling better. This morning was rough but around noon, the fever, aches, and chills were gone. Thank goodness.
