Now that we have made the reservation and made the decision about when we are going back, I will start my PTR :woohoo: :cloud9:.
We are going back

On to the formal, not so formal, introductions to the cast members.

First there is the boss of the family. The one around whom most of our decisions are made, the one who dictates how long we are gone, where we will stay, and what we do at what time of day :rolleyes1.

Yes.........it is Niko. Dale loves this dog, BOY does he love this dog :rolleyes1.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/DSCF1066-1.jpg

Then there is Dallas. He is my little man and my Disney buddy. We both got up the nerve to try Soarin' on our September trip and now we love it .

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/Disney%20July%2009/DSCF3046.jpg

Tyler is my oldest son and he isn't sure if he wants to go or not. He says he is getting tired of Disney, but he sure likes going every year :rolleyes1.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/Disney2007037.jpg

Not sure if Amanda will be joining us on this trip or not either. She will be graduating from college in May and will be actively job hunting or starting a new job when we go. Her boyfriend Matt is in the picture too. He went with us this past May.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/Disney%202009/DisneyPhotoImage13.jpg

My husband Dale loves Disney as much as I do, he just doesn't get involved in the planning. We have been married for 22 years and celebrated our 22nd Anniversary this past October in Disney World.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/Disney%20July%2009/DSCF3284.jpg

And then there is me, Dana.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/Disney%20September%202009/DSCF3818-1.jpg

The REAL Disney lover in my family. I am a neonatal nurse and I love my job. I have been to Disney 15 times with the first time being 1986. We were blessed enough to get to go to Disney 3 times this year, and I am still hopeful that we can go Christmas for a long weekend. We bought APs in May and I am sold on them now.

We are booked at Pop for May 24 thru May 30. I received a pin code and got the room for a good rate. I fussed and ranted and raved about not getting a pin code and while checking an email account I rarely use, there it was, with ONE day left to book at that rate :scared1:. I called the next day and got a room only ressie. I am still waiting for the AP rates to come out to see if I can do better and upgrade to CBR or AKL.

So now the real fun begins with the planning. I am horrible about changing plans over and over so I am sure within the next 6 months they will change.....:lmao:. I hope I can keep everyone entertained while I plan and I enjoy all the help and advice I can get.

I am so glad you are here. I was going to send you a message on FB tonight to see how you are doing. I'm glad you are getting better. I know what you mean about being depressed. I get that way at times and it really doesn't have any rhyme or reason for me. I hope things are looking up or start looking up very soon . We are all doing pretty good right now. I think the price was pretty good for Pop, if Amanda and Tyler both want to go we will have to get a second room, but that is OK.

WTG Josh. I will keep him in my prayers. I hope he gets the job that pays the most, gives him more time home with you and puts the least amount of stress on him. You should go with your Mom next year if Josh can't go and then go back at Christmas with him. That way you get to plan two trips for next year :thumbsup2.

I need to give background on how we arrived at the dates we have.

We have been to Disney 3 other times in May, the first time was 2002. We waited until school was out for the year. Amanda was in 8th grade, Tyler in the 7th and Dallas was 3 1/2. I was a member of the now defunct Disney Club, or what ever it was, and they had a good offer. We stayed a week at POR with PH tickets and a "special add on" included. We chose to eat at CP for breakfast as our add on. If I am not mistaken we got all of that for a little over $2000. After 9/11 they offered some great deals.

It was a stressful trip though because on the drive down Friday, May 24, at 9pm or so, while on the Turnpike, our car died :scared1:. I called Geico, because I had roadside assistance, and they dispatched a wrecker to pick up the car. While we were waiting I was scared to death. Anyway while waiting for the wrecker a Florida State Trooper pulled up and we told him what was going on. He asked me if we had AAA, I told him no but we had roadside assistance with our insurance, he asked me "What does your insurance company sell?" I said "Sir?" he asked again. I said "Insurance." He then said "Yeah, insurance, you should have AAA." :scared1::eek: He then walks off gets in his car and leaves :scared1:. I was left speechless. Sometime later, not sure how long really because it seemed like a life time, the wrecker pulls up.

Now, I'm wondering when he puts the car on the rollback where are we gonna be? He tells me, you can ride in the car on the back of the truck. OH NO WAY!!!!!!!! So the five of us, the wrecker driver and his brother all cram up in the front of the truck..............:lmao: Good thing it had the extra room behind the seat. He took us to Altamonte Springs and we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and he took the car to the Ford dealership there. The next morning(Saturday, May 25th) we got up and Dale WALKED(about a mile) to the Ford dealership to see about the car and find out if it could be fixed and what we could expect time wise. Well, Monday, May 27th was Memorial Day so they were going to be closed so they really couldn't tell Dale anything because it would be Tuesday before they even looked at it(their service department was closed on Saturdays). We were now worried about how we were going to get home.

We still had to get to POR so I pulled out the phone book and called the first number for a taxi I could find. We got our stuff together and headed down to the lobby. When we got to the lobby there was a man coming out of a room with a cup of coffee. He looked at us and asked "Are you the Whatley's?" Dale said "yes", he said he was our ride. Now I found that to be kinda strange. How did he know who we were? We load the trunk with our luggage and head off. He took back roads and two lane roads and turned this way and that way. I could not find my way back if I had to :rotfl:.

While riding he and Dale were talking and Dale told him about our situation. I have to tell you, if you don't believe in Divine intervention this may change your mind. He spoke up and said he had a friend who owned a service station and had a wrecker. He called his friend and the guy told him he couldn't look at the car that day because he had to coach his son's baseball team, but he would look at the car Sunday. The driver(I think his name was Alan) asked Dale if that was OK and we really had no option, so we said yes. Alan took our cell number and he gave us his card.

Sunday morning he called, and Dale went with him to meet his friend. The man towed our car to his shop and Alan brought Dale back to POR. He didn't charge us anything to come pick Dale up Sunday and bring him back and it was a pretty good distance to Altamonte Springs. We were really trying to watch what we spent because we had no idea how much it was going to cost to fix the car. We decided to have a good time anyway. Monday we went to AK and as we were headed to Africa my cell rang and it was Alan. He said our car was ready. His friend had to replace the distributor and it was going to be $650.00. Alan told Dale he would come to POR and pick him up and take him to get the car. We jumped on a bus and headed to POR. Alan picked Dale up and took him to get our car, again not wanting to charge Dale anything. Dale insisted he take $40 anyway for all the running he had done to help us out. I believe Alan was sent to us to help us out.

That is lengthy isn't it? Sorry :guilty:. The rest of our trip went OK, but it was sooooooooooooooooo HOT. We vowed we would not go back in May.......:lmao:

Trips 2 and 3 background later.

It is a beautiful story. And yes you know I so believe in help is there when yiou need it. I'm thankful for you on this day someone was there for you. You know how I love the beach and one year we had been till we had to come home cause I refused to leave. We drive forever and we get about 4 hours from home, it's 2 am I have 2 hungry girls and we have no cash. We have a Shell credit card but no gas station in sight. Gas tank has been on empty for 30 miles and we can't decide what to do. We are almost to Jonesboro, AR and find a Shell station. We get gas and eat our way thru the gas station. Thanking HIM all the way. We get home at 6:00 am and I have to be at work at 8. Don and the girls had the day off. We made it and I survived the day. I never go anywhere without a 'stash' anymore.

I know what you mean. The $650 was more than half of our spending money for the week so we had to cut corners. While watching Illuminations we bought 2 little buckets of popcorn and 2 cokes for all of us to share.....:lmao:. We ate McDonald's for many meals that trip and we had a fridge so we had milk and cereal for breakfast and some sandwich stuff. That all seems like a lifetime ago. I was praying to HIM all the way home too because I was scared the car would quit again. We thought we were going to have to rent a car to get home and drive back down to get our car. I know God sent Alan to us because I just chose the phone number randomly.

I am in total agreement with you. Thru the years we have had many weird trips like that. Glad the financial situation improved. Now it just is memories but at the time I couldn't imagine anything worse. The struggles one has to have a good time.

OH yeah, I know what you mean. Growing up it was me and my Mom and we had it really hard. I tell my kids about how tough it was and they just don't understand. I was telling them how the economy today reminds me of the late 70's early 80's, and they were surprised how it seems to be mirroring that time. I just don't know that we have anyone who can pull us out of it this time :sad2:.

I think every generation has its issues. The 60's were not easy for us at all. Kids going to war with young wives and children left behind. History just keeps repeating itself. I made 75 cents an hour and felt we had the world. My first real job was at a clinic and I made $300 a month. Every other week my paycheck was $75. Out of that I paid $45 to a babysitter who came to my house and watched the girls for me. That left me $30 for gas and spending money for another 2 weeks. Don was making $4.50 and hour and I was working because I wanted to. Then Don lost his job and my salary was it for several months. One always manages to do what needs to be done tho and are better for it.

FIRST I MUST GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY

:cheer2::cheer2:ROLL TIDE:cheer2::cheer2:

Now, with that said, I will go on to how we chose May on our second and third trips. After the May 2002 trip we started going to Disney during February because Amanda and Tyler had 3 days off for Mardi Gras every year. It was a good time to go because it was always cool and the crowds were light. In 2007 we went in February, but Amanda couldn't go because she only got 1 day for Mardi Gras in college. Well, in 2008 Disney had an offer in May that gave the water parks and more option as a free add on and it was during a time that Amanda could go and bring her then fiancé Anthony We booked two adjoining rooms at ASMu and it was OK. It was our first time using the DDP so it was not a fantastic trip. We did not plan our ADRs as well as we should have and Amanda and Anthony had broken up a month or so before. BOY was I glad that happened. She is too NOW MAY 2008 HERE (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1788116)

So when it came time to book our 2009 trip Disney was offering the 4/3 deal and Amanda wanted to join us again, and this time bring her boyfriend Matt. We needed something big enough to hold 6 of us so we stayed at Fort Wilderness Cabins. I didn't care for the Cabins, but I am not a real outdoorsy type. It rained on us the whole time we were there. We left a day early because we were tired of being wet, plus Amanda, Tyler, and Matt were all feeling bad. Here is the link to that TR May 2009 TR HERE (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2185116).

While we were deciding when to return next year we came up with several dates. It was a hard decision because the sooner the better for me. I really wanted to get an AP pin, but it never came. I was so disappointed :sad2:. But, just by luck I checked an email account that I rarely check and there it was!!!!!!!!! A PIN. Not an AP pin but a pin none the less. It was for dates in April, May and June. I jumped on it and booked our May dates. There are three main reasons we chose the dates we did (1) Leanne, Mary, And Lisa will all be there then, (2) it includes Memorial Day so that gives Dale an extra day off and (3) Amanda will be out of school and maybe, just maybe she will join us. I am hoping for a rain free trip this time as I think we all had enough Disney rain to do us.

Thank you :cutie:. I know it is going to be fun!! I feel so blessed to have met such great friends here on the dis.

One of my co-workers is going to Disney next Friday. She and her husband are going to pick their 8 yo up from school and tell him they are going shopping for his birthday and they are going to get on a plane and fly to Disney. I think that is sooooooo cool. What a fun surprise.

I guess I will be battening down the hatches tomorrow in anticipation of hurricane Ida :headache: What in the world is a hurricane doing coming in this late in the year :sad2:.

Were you at the Dis meet last May? I have such a bad memory at times :guilty:. I hope we can all set a date and place to meet up. It would be nice to have an all girls meet one evening too ;). I am hoping the rain stays well away. I love dachshunds too . They have such character. Niko thinks he is a doberman though and he HATES Amanda's boyfriend :lmao:.

The 2nd half of the BAMA game was much better than the 1st!! :goodvibes We're actually going to Tuscaloosa for the BAMA/UTC game on the 21st!! I'm hoping we kill Florida on Dec. 6th--I'm so sick of them and Tebow!

No, I was not at the DIS meet last May--we were in a different park that day and didn't have Park Hoppers. I was able to meetup with several DISers at the Poly beach the first night we were there and we met Leanne and her family at O'hana. We are staying at the Poly again in May!! Can't wait!! I haven't started a PTR yet--have to wrap-up my TR first!! :thumbsup2

You and me both Becky . I get so tired of hearing Tebow's name I could scream. I hope we end our season at the Georgia Dome like we started it :thumbsup2.

Dis meets are so much fun. Leanne and her family are really great as is Mary and her family. I feel so blessed to have met some of the best people last May. I have started reading your report and your family is so beautiful. In every picture everyone is always smiling. I am hoping Disney offers a good AP rate for May. If they come out with a good rate I really want to stay at CBR or AKL. Dale liked Pop so we may just keep what we have. The Poly is beautiful, as is GF.

I need to finish my September TR too :rolleyes1.

OK! How did not see this in your link? when I did not come over you should have "PUSHED" and enough already on the game this past week!!!
would have been a better game with better officals (not saying the outcome would have been different--but there was an awful lot of holding and an awful big problem with vision on the part of the officials) but, I am with you and Becky on the Bama/FL game!

that is a wonderful story you shared in the beginning (wouldn't wish it on anyone-but, glad an angel was sent your way)...

Happy planning! stay safe tonight!!

I am crossing fingers, eyes, toes, legs, arms.....you name it.......:lmao:.

From the track it will be coming in at Dauphin Island, Al which is about 40 miles south of me. I am praying for everyone on the Island. The local news said Ida had strengthened a little, but they are expecting it to decrease again when it gets closer in and hits the cooler water.

Well, I don't like to be too pushy :lmao::rotfl2:. We have got to rub it in a little about the game :rolleyes1. I have to agree with you about officiating at ALL games this year. I think all of the officials have gone "hold blind" and that is in the Pros too. Dale keeps thinking ya'll may lose Les Miles to Michigan when they fire Rich Rodriguez :rolleyes1.

Thanks about the story. It was a real stressful time. I think maybe that is why I'm not crazy about POR, well that and the fact we were in a horrible location on property.

You are part of the planning too .

I'm praying for everyones safety during this storm, because it has caused 54 deaths in El Salvador already.

I'm glad to hear that you will probaby not get the brunt of the hurricane. Still, it's the tornados and high winds that stem from it that are just as scary. Sorry, that wasn't too nice of a thing to post when I am supposed to be easing your mind.:rolleyes1

I hope Les Miles moves on, too! can't wait....hummm I know alot of people who would like to see that happen :rolleyes2 We had our fingers crossed last year when Michigan came a calling...and I have always like Nike Saban but yesterday when he was mad and was talking to the reporter right before he went off the field at half time he really came off as a "big head" just my impression (body language)

I told Danny I bet if they started fining the officials for bad or lack of calls for face mask (the saints game had a bad face mask that was not called Sunday--poor guys head could not turn back anymore), holding, or vision problems ( ) I bet that would help clear up their problems!

hope the rain passes quickly; we don't even have high winds here, it is really kinda strange. But, Danny said it is gusty across the lake!

Oh yeah, I know :scared1:. I have lived on the Gulf Coast all my life so I know the tornadoes are where the real damage comes in .

Update on right now at 4:10 pm, they have changed the path to have it coming in at the mouth of Mobile Bay.

That actually brings it in to my east but in closer proximity, and it is going to make landfall about midnight. My ex lives in Spanish Fort and a good friend lives right on the Bay in Fairhope, both are right were it is coming in. I worry about all the people who live on the coast. I think it is ironic that the most sought after property is in the most dangerous areas :sad2:.

:wave2:

I told Dale that Les Miles shows no emotion. He looks stone faced all the time. I didn't see the interview. I didn't get to see all of the game since I was working.

I told Dale I was really getting disheartened by football this year due to the lack of good officiating. I didn't get to see the Saints game either, but I caught a score when they were behind and I didn't think I was going to be able to come home :lmao:. Dale takes his football serious, VERY SERIOUS and if the Saints are losing he is UNBEARABLE :rolleyes1.

The wind is starting to gust here, it has been raining all day. The storm is moving pretty fast so I hope it is out of here pretty quickly.

OK this is the stuff I ordered. I know the pictures are very small, but hopefully you can make them out.

Every year, since Dale and I have been married and since each of my children have been born, we have ordered an ornament for each child and one for Dale and I. Here is what I got for all of us this year.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/2009mickeyornament.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/castleornament.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/tinkerbellornament.jpg

The ornaments were get 2 for $15.

I found these for Eli for Christmas.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/buzzpjs.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/disneypjs.jpg

These were 2 for $20.

I don't know who remembers, but in May I ordered all the Mickey bathroom stuff and pillow shams for my bed. So today I ordered some pillow cases.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/mickeypillowcases.jpg

And this for my kitchen

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/papertowelholder.jpg

I got this for Dale.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/rollingdisneycoolerbag.jpg

And of course this is for Dallas.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/disney%20store%20order/upvideo.jpg

I ordered all of this and with the discounts, Disney will let you stack coupons, I got 20% off and $5 shipping. The total for the order, before tax and shipping and handling was $143.96 with the discounts of $41.59 and $10.00 off on shipping I got it all for $107.32 plus $9.68 tax. I think $117.00 is pretty good for what I ordered.

Thanks Connie, I miss the Disney outlet store that use to be at the Tanger Outlet Mall. I could spend money like crazy there.

I have a story about Mickey ear ornaments. About 3 years ago we bought a very pretty red Mickey ear ornament from the Christmas Shop in the MK. Well, last year we were sitting in the living room watching TV and we heard a LOUD popping sound. We got up to investigate and I saw a part of my Mickey ears laying under the tree :sad1:. We looked closer and found it to be the acrylic paint used on the ornament and the ornament itself was not broken. Now I have a plastic silver Mickey head :lmao:.

Yeah, I just finished putting my tree up and we hung the denuded Mickey ears :lmao:. It is still pretty all silver, but it was really pretty red. It had the date on it when the paint was still there.

jambalaya casserole: 2 cans of french onion soup, 1 can rotel, 2 cans mushroom soup ,1# sausage, 1# (chicken, cooked shrimp, or crawfish), 4 cups rice, 1 stick butter
combine all ingriedents (sp) cover with foil, bake at 350 for about 30-40 min /stir half way...done when all liquid absorbed and rice is cooked! I need to dbl check the rice amount!

pasta alfredoone can of mushroom soup, can of chicken broth, pint of half and half, 1/2 blk pepper cheese, sm blk velvetta, (cooked meat of choice-shrimp, chicken, crawfish, carbmeat or all )stick of butter, sm onion, 2 tbs minced garlic, green bell pepper, two tomatoes, frozen brocolli, cauliflower, carrots(I use the mixed bag ---ONE bag all three veggies)and boiled pasta of your choice (we use bowtie or rigatoni)
in a sauce pan saute onion in butter, add 2 tbs of flour (cook like you would a blonde roux),add garlic, bellpepper, and veggies, broth, bring to boil bring down to a simmer add tomatoes, melt in cheese, add half & half heat and mix pasta! viola!!

Glad to hear that everything arrived! How exciting...Danny said he wanted to decorate this weekend...we won't do the tree until the first weekend in Dec (Danny has to have a real tree-- which is a pain cause I'm allergic to pine :rolleyes1:
I bought my last shower curtain set from Bed, Bath, and Beyond on sale with a 20% coupon. I also like the bath stuff that JC Penny's carries and they are always putting things on sale this time of year and in January!

I posted several receipes on my thread for you! hope it helps if you need more or something else say the word! I just thought of two more dishes...

:wave2: Connie

I am going to look at their sites tomorrow. Sleeping pill is starting to make me goofy.......lol. I really want to make the bathroom look good. I have thought about doing a flip flop theme, but I think it would get old quick. I have looked at some floral stuff, but it is the bathroom Tyler, Amanda and Dallas use the most and I know the boys don't really want a real flowery bathroom. So I am looking for a theme/color that we could all live with, maybe chocolate and blue?

I love the recipes too!!!
Hi Dana! Hope you're having a good night! :yay:

Thanks Leanne, I am getting sleepy. I had to bake brownies for our Thanksgiving lunch at work tomorrow so I am give out. I can hear my Mickey pillows calling my name :lmao:.

:dance3::cool1:AMBER:cool1::dance3:. I'm glad you are here!!!! I'm excited about the trip, I would live there if I could :cloud9:. An anniversary trip is fun. We had a good time in September well, until we got Swine flu. Baby #3? How exciting. I love having three kids. I would have had more if it were up to me. I love having a big family. A family of 5 can stay at POR, but until the baby turns 3 you can still stay in a room at one of the value resorts. The baby can sleep in a pack-n-play. I'm glad you are here .

I finally decided on the stuff for my bathroom. I have probably looked at a thousand shower curtains on every site possible and I was getting frustrated, but I think I will like this stuff. Ya'll tell me what you think.

This is the curtain

These are the colors and the pattern

Rug

And I have a pretty big area from the end of my vanity to the wall so I got this to put in there

I am hoping it all comes in before I have my Christmas party. I wanted to find the red color for the rugs, but I didn't want anything too red.

I like those colors also. I have had the same shower curtain in my hall bath forever. Even in the old house 4 years ago. I love it and just can't quite get the nerve up to change it. I never go in there unless it is to clean so I guess it doesn't bother me too bad. I did get to paint all my walls (27 gal later) before we moved in so I like those choices so I think if I were to change anything Don would murderize me.

I thought about painting too Ginny, but I HATE to paint. I suck at it too, I always get paint on the floor, when I paint the baseboards, no matter how much taping I do. If I paint I am going to go with a light pecan color.

Looks like a cool oriental rug-love it! Though I probably like the Mickey stuff better :):cool1:

Monday, May 24th(arrival day)

Tuesday, May 25th
'Ohana for dinner around 5:30

Wednesday, May 26th
Kona for dinner 7pm

Thursday, May 27th
Chef Mickey's for breakfast 8am
(this is Dallas' request)

Friday, May 28th
Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch 1 or 2 pm

Saturday, May 29th
No plans

Sunday, May 30th
Leave for home :sad1:.

We usually don't plan park days because we like to park hop.

I am hoping I can talk Tyler and Amanda into going with us. We would have to get another room so that is why I am wanting the AP rates to come out. I am really disappointed in Disney in that they have not released any AP rates yet. They still have the fall special on the passholder site. I think it was pretty crummy of them to send out pin codes to some AP holders too. AP holders are already a smaller group so now they are pruning from the pruned. Next they will be sending them out only to people who were born on a Tuesday at 7:18, when Mars was in alignment with Jupiter, and Hailey's comet was crossing the Northern hemisphere, while the sun rose at 6:02am and set at 5:22pm :rolleyes1.

Hope you got your ressies Dana! Your choices look really good!

I've been waiting on the 4/3 that's been rumored forever too. They announced they were up 18% last quarter about two weeks ago so who knows. I saw yesterday where they raised ECV, Wheelchair, & Locker rental for 2010. They probably raised stroller rental too (since they go together typically) but it wasn't mentioned in the newsletter that I get on Tuesday. Maybe they don't think they need to offer discounts? :confused3

Thanks Leanne.

I didn't want to do the 4/3 again because we won't need the tickets, but if it came out cheaper to go with it I would. I know they had released the 4/3 last year before now.

I saw that report too and the price increases on the ECV, wheelchair and lockers. The strollers went up this year so they may raise them again next year. I don't understand why the prices of these rentals keep going up. Disney already owns them, they don't require any more maintenance this year than they did last year and the workers aren't getting raises. We are in the middle of the worst recession this country has ever seen and prices keep going up :scared1:. The increase in profit was due to ESPN and TV syndicated sales. The parks and resorts actually FELL 17%. For the fiscal year the parks and resorts fell 25%. I found this in TheDailyDisney.com.

Iger goes on to say "Booking trends have actually picked up significantly since we announced the discount, and they had been somewhat sluggish before we did,” Iger said, adding that Disney isn’t worried that customers will become accustomed to promotions. “We have not had a problem weaning consumers off discounts in the past.”
The "discount" he is referring to is the 4/3. I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like they aren't really going to offer much more. That the "weaning" process has started in the form of shortened times on discounts and added restrictions. That goes back to my post about pin codes.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING
:scared1: I can't believe I am becoming so cynical about Disney . I need some pixie dust and I need it fast :lmao:.

OK, I took a deep breath and I think I'm gonna be good now ;). I was about to fall off that soap box.

I made them :cool1:. I have never rented a locker at the park, but last year we rented one at TL. We rented a wheelchair for Dallas one year because his asthma was REALLY bad and he would get short of breath after walking more than 10 minutes. We rented a stroller several times. I think it is bad that they hit people like that. Ticket prices are already out of this world.

YOU DON'T WHAT? I LOVE fried dill pickles, yummmmmmmm. I haven't had any in a long time though. I have never tried fried cauliflower, but it sounds great. I think I mentioned, in a previous post, that I had fallen in my yard 10 days ago? Well, today I was making up my bed, getting ready to cook our Thanksgiving meal and I felt a sharp pop in my leg. It felt like a really bad Charlie horse. I sat down and the pain eased up some, when I tried to walk I let out a scream that scared poor Dallas half to death. He and Niko came running into my room :scared1:. Dallas helped me make it to the couch and I called Dale. Amanda came home early today so she took me to the ER. I had an ultra sound to make sure it wasn't a blood clot, but as soon as the doctor examined me he told me what it was. Now, I am off my leg for who know how long? He put a splint and ace wrap on my leg and gave me tylox and 800mg motrin for pain. I have an appointment Monday with an orthopedic surgeon :scared:.

My lovely leggings..........:lmao:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/racefanof88/Achilles%20Rupture/achillestendonrupture.jpg

When I read up on a ruptured achilles tendon, mine is called a partial or incomplete rupture, it says they may cast it and then I will have to wear the cast for 6-10 weeks while the tendon reattaches :sad1:. If they have to do surgery it may not be as long just 6-8 weeks. I'm glad I have Aflac. I don't know how I am going to finish my Christmas shopping though.

Amanda and Tyler are going to cook Thanksgiving dinner for me tomorrow.

Great ADR's. We will be at O'Hana at the same time! Hopefully we will be seated close to eachother!! Maybe the ladies should meet for a pre dinner beverage.....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I was so happy to get all my ADRs. I think the ladies meeting for a "pre dinner beverage" is a wonderful idea :thumbsup2.

Thank you Mary. I knew something wasn't right when it happened because my leg felt funny, now it just hurts like Hades. I hope I don't have to have surgery either. You know they say nurses and doctors make the worst patients? Well, it is because we KNOW too much . I think Amand and Tyler will do pretty good cooking.

Dana, I'm so sorry about your leg. Of course timing sucks.

I wanted to wish you and your precious family a wonderful Thanksgiving and have a wonderful weekend inspite of those nasty crutches.

In 1985 I fell and broke my leg in two places and the ankle. After screws and plates and 8 months on crutches and no weight bearing I got promoted to a cane. Exactly one year later I got rid of the cane. That was one long year. I was lucky as it was my left leg so I could drive. Showers sucked and we had a waterbed. I was 35 at the time. Now 3 years ago when Sheri was 35 she fell in her drive and broke her leg and now has a titanium rod from knee to ankle. We are two peas in a pod for sure.

Now back to you. I hope it is not a long recovery cause that is no way to have to spend the best time of the year and miss out on Christmas shopping. I guess that is why they have the internet.

Best wishes to you and have a lovely Thanksgiving.

Thank you Ginny. You are right timing does suck. I wanted to get some of my Christmas shopping done this weekend, but that won't happen.

OUCH, you did your leg up right didn't you? Man, I can only imagine how much that hurt. When I worked orthopedics I felt so sorry for everyone who had to have casts on their legs, now I may be one of them. You and Sheri are two peas in a pod. When things like that happen it is really creepy. Makes you wonder sometimes.

I'm hoping the recovery is fast too. I took the splint off about 15 minutes ago and the pain wasn't there, but it is starting to come back :sad1:. These pain pills (tylox) make me sooooo nauseated . I guess I will be doing more of my shopping on line than I had first thought. I didn't want to have to use my credit card too much, but it doesn't look like I can escape it......:guilty:.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your wonderful family too. I miss having the big family get togethers.

Thanks Becky . I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Mine turned out pretty good despite my misfortune :rolleyes1. I have ordered a few things online, but there is something about being in the mall during the Christmas shopping time. We usually go to the mall in Pensacola and the one in Ft. Walton. I guess I could borrow my Mom's wheelchair . I guess we won't do anything this weekend since I go to the orthopedic surgeon on Monday, and walking on these crutches is hard enough around the house :sad1:.

Hi- I just wanted to say that I have read all of the posts on here just now and I can't wait top read more! (Well, except for the roll tide stuff- I'm with Connie on this one:)
I am subbing and just wanted to introduce myself!

I'm Brandi, from North LA, but now live close to Baton Rouge- a suburb. I am a Kindergarten teacher and mom of two boys- 7 year old Alex and 1 year old Nathan. We haven't been to DW since 2007 and before Nathan was born. But, we are DVCers, so we typically went every year and will continue that tradition now. Our next trip is May 22-29th, so we'll be there the same time. I am already planning away and can't wait to plan along with the DIS folks.
Anyway, hope everyone had a great Turkey Day! I'm ready for lots of college football tomorrow. And I hate to say it, but I really want 'Bama to lose as I can't stand Saban- but I hold nothing against anyone! I'll have to tell y'all later about the LSU/Alabama game day in our neighborhood- we have neighbors from Alabama who we played some tricks on and it was great fun!
OK, so g'night and I'll keep checking in for your report!

Glad to hear the pain was starting to subside...you need to call a doctor friend and find something besides tylox/Danny could not take it either.

If I remember correctly all of the cases I seen come into the office was a 6-8 wk recovery period...surgery 4- 6 wks...most people were happy with the surgery repair as the pain was gone almost instantly. I do not ever remember seeing anyone in cast for this injury just aircast and splints...you'll be hitting the malls soon...you'll be an expert with those crutches before the end of the weekend...:upsidedow

have a good day and weekend Dana!!!

Hi Brandi :wave2:. Nice to meet you, thanks for coming over.

I can totally understand how ya'll feel about Saban. We have suffered some really bad experiences with coaches too. The likes of Franchione, Mike Price (boy that one was a doozie :rolleyes1) Dubose, Curry(who was 0-3 against Auburn :scared1:) and several more.......:lmao:. There will never be another Bear, but Stallings came close.
I know LSU has had a few doozies too, like Curley Hallman :rolleyes1.

I want to buy into the DVC, but the time just hasn't been right yet :sad2:. There will be several of us there in May so we need to get together for a meet somewhere. I met Leanne and Mary last year at a Dis meet and they will be there at the same time as will Lisa. I wish we could slip Connie and her family in our suitcases :rotfl2:.

If Alabama loses today I will have to leave home :scared1:. My DH can not stand the Tiger-Eagles.............:lmao:. I can't wait to hear about the tricks ya'll played on your Alabama friends :surfweb:.

I will be so glad when Monday gets here so I can be done with the worrying. I have a hard time with any pain meds Connie, I just have a low tolerance.

I hope Dr. Daugherty gives me good news Monday. I don't want to miss too much work and if I have a cast on I won't be able to work. As long as I wear this splint I can't tell if it is better or not. The ER doc said they usually splint the foot at a 90 degree angle, but he didn't want to push mine that far. I don't want to have surgery, but if he thinks it is best then that is what I will do :scared:. I'm scared to try and take a step with out the splint, I'm sacred it will hurt too bad. So I hope he can give me something so I can walk. These crutches are killing me :sad1:.

Yep, LSU has had some doozies! I kinda expect to lose Miles this year, but we'll see. I know Saban would be happy to come back, but we don't want him! LOL! But, I understand 'Bama loving him as we did.

Well, the main thing we did to our 'Bama was friends was steal their flag and replace it with an LSU one- it was really funny though for several reasons. First, they have their flag up on their house, which is two down from us. My DH planned to switch them, but we were worried their safety lights would come on and were scared someone would call the cops on us if they saw us out there at 2 AM!! So, we waited. Well, dummy put her flag out by her mailbox by the road on game day- DUH!! DH ran out and switched it while they were in the back yard. I thought he'd get caught! I was suppose to be distracting them, but the baby wouldn't come on, so that didn't work. When she finally realized it was switched, she kinda freaked out! She called to all of the neighbors looking for it. She was so mad and worried about it- said her MeeMaw gave it to her and it was special! Now, some background- she isn't a football fan at all- just likes to mess with us when 'Bama or Auburn plays LSU- you know she's not a true fan when she has shirts for both of those teams, right? Anyway, she keeps calling everyone and is really mad. Well, a bit later, I get a text from her saying she heard it was me that took it. technically, I did not take it- DH did, so I told her it was not me. A couple of hours later, her DH comes to my house to get her flag back. Turns out my DS told her that he THOUGHT we took it! See what you get for talking around a 7 year old? GEEZ! Then, we went to decorate and watch the game at her house. So, I took our flag back over there and stuck it flying out of the back of her DH's truck! Plus, all of my treats I brought were LSU ones. She was nice and made a great cake that was decorated as a football field- it had an Alabama "A" and an LSU on it- precious!

That is funny Brandi. It is nice to have friendly rivalries. I know a couple of doctors that graduated from LSU and it is funny when we all get together. I work with one nurse whose husband graduated from Auburn and another one who graduted from Miss. State herself. It can get sticky on Iron Bowl day because we can wear a team jersey if we bring in a canned good, when you look around all you see is orange and blue or crimson and white. I think it is pretty evenly divided.

Watching the LSU vs. Arkansas game now. I LOVE the helmets LSU is wearing.

I'm sure she will appreciate the shirt more than she would have a win by Arkansas. I love that Amanda is getting into football now. It use to be just Dale and I watching the games, now she gets into it with us :cheer2:.

I will keep everyone posted as to what I find out tomorrow. My leg has been REALLY hurting today, even the pain meds haven't done much good. I know what you mean about 11 yos and computers. Just a quick update about my leg. I don't know much more that I did yesterday really. The doctor said he doesn't think I have a total rupture because there wasn't a gap in the muscle. He said I would have to get an MRI to be sure I didn't need surgery, but we have to wait and get an approval from BCBS before they can do the MRI. The pictures below are of the immobilizer/splint I have to wear for the next 6 weeks. I have to sleep in this thing too and I swear it weighs a ton .

I have never had to get pre-approved before, that kinda surprised me. It would be great if they would do an open MRI. Six weeks isn't too bad, except when I think it will be 2010 before I can go back to work :scared1:. The problem with the muscle tone is it won't be bilateral :lmao:. Maybe they will call me in the morning about the MRI. I finished up my Christmas shopping last night online. We just got Amanda and Tyler a few things for under the tree because we are giving them money.

Below is the list of stuff the kids are getting. Give me ya'll's opinion. Do you think I should get them more? Can ya'll tell cabin fever is already setting in....:lmao:

Dallas' list
New Super Mario game for Wii
Bakugan game for his DS
DVD player
Up DVD
Custom Robo for Wii
several packs of Bakugan action figures
Bakusphere
This just doesn't seem like much.

Tyler
An electric razor
Axe gift set
MP3 player
a couple of shirts
boxers-----hehehe
tee shirts
and money

Amanda
Tink pjs
snuggie
new robe
new cell phone
and money

The lists seem so short to me.

Of course we will put some little things in their stockings. Any ideas of some stocking stuffers? I am open to any ideas about gifts to add too.

I'm starting to get a little depressed knowing I will not be able to go to the mall and see the Christmas decorations :sad1:. I always look forward to that.
I hate being blah.

Good morning Dana. Wallow for about an hour and then snap out of it. I of course wallowed for about 8 months. There is always another option out there. Your Christmas lists sound good to me. I was going to get everyone passports this year but then Andrew wanted a computer and Austin wanted an I phone and the girls wanted those keurig coffee makers and Alex wants an X-box so there went my plan. Everything is bought but the x-box. I asked Sandi everyday we were at her house and she kept saying he couldn't have one and on the last night around midnight it's ok? So now I will buy online and have it shipped to him. I have no idea about Mike. Tim gets a gc to Dillards. He is a clothes horse. He takes up 3 closets in their house and Sandi has one. I bet he has 25 pair of dress shoes.

I bet you could rent a wheelchair cheaply and make a mall trip. I know when Sheri needed one it was only $45 a month. Heck I took her to Chicago for 3 days so Austin could play in a video game tournement. I wheeled her all over the aqauarium and downtown Chicago. We had a blast.

Sorry you are feeling blah Dana. :sad2: I think your list looks just fine. As the kids get older the price of the things they need/want goes up. I know games are usually $30-$50 each. You might put some gift cards to their favorite fast food place in their stockings or a card to buy music online. Mine are getting i-tunes gift cards in their stockings-all three of my kids. :)

I keep re-thinking my list. I just called my brother and asked him if he wanted my other Zhu Zhu pet stuff. I"ve now decided they both don't need separate playhouses with accessories, they can share the one town. I might change my mind 30 seconds from now but for now that's my decision. :rotfl: I don't want to go overboard because I don't want them thinking they are entitled. It's such a fine line you know? :confused3

Lord have mercy! I have missed quite a bit since we left to go out of town. I am so very very sorry to hear about your leg injury. I sure hope that you will just have to wear the ugly cumbersome brace because that's much better than having surgery.

Your Christmas list looks good to me. I ALWAYS...repeat....ALWAYS get my kids waaaaay too much for Christmas. I just keep thinking "one more thing".

Hey Ginny. I hate feeling this way. I guess it is knowing I am gonna be bummed up at Christmas. It'll get better. I always second guess myself on my Christmas list. Dale wants a mini Alabama football helmet. I will have to get Amanda to pick one up next time she goes to the mall. I already have the Disney rolling cooler for him and he needs a new pair of Reebok's. He is hard to buy shoes for because he wears a size 13 wide :scared1:.

My Mom has a wheelchair and I might just borrow hers. It is easy to go to Walmart and Sam's club because they have the ECVs. You should have seen me last Saturday trying to navigate that thing around :lmao:. They need to put a horn on it for people like me who have no idea what they are doing :scared1:.

Thanks Leanne. I know the blahs will pass soon. I just have to get use to getting around. You are right about the games. The 3 I got for Dallas was about $100, it would have been more, but the Custom Robo game came out a few years ago for the Game Cube and they only had used copies.

Good idea about the food cards . I still have to get Amanda's boyfriend something, last year we got him a food card to Subway. The boy loves Subway. I was thinking maybe Chili's or Applebee's this year so he and Amanda can go out to dinner one night. I think I will get a couple of i-tune cards for Amanda and Tyler too. Amanda has an I-pod we got her a couple of years ago and since we are giving Tyler one this year he will need to add some songs. Great ideas Leanne, thanks.

I know what you mean about kids feeling entitled. I have ruined Dallas and I know it :guilty:. Growing up I didn't have a lot of what I wanted, I had everything I needed though. When Amanda and Tyler were little I was in college and money was tight then too. Dallas has pretty much anything he wants. Sad I know.

I didn't think you were being mean. You don't have a mean bone in your body. I know it doesn't do any good. I remember a commercial from several years back about worry. It was something about a rocking chair and worry are alike, they both give you something to do, but neither will get you anywhere. It goes something like that.....lol.

I'm glad I have friends who are honest. Sometimes it takes someone else to make you realize things aren't as bad as they may seem .

Hi! Dana :sunny:
same weather here...but, like I said on my thread...typical December weather...I would love snow but only after Danny gets back on this side of the lake...last year he almost did not make it (he said he was going to take a dump truck home w/a load of sand if his pickup would not make it :rotfl2: )
CRAZY!! thank goodness he made it --he had brought home a welding machine to use a house generator...

I think your list for the older kids look great and I really liked Leanne's idea about the GC's; I do that for Gwendolyn & Dayne every year along w/GC's to the local theatres. Dallas' list is great too! GC's for his favorite places would be fun (does he have a wallet, yet?!?) my sister's youngest (right around his age) gets a new wallet every year filled with $10 GC's she thinks it just the best thing in the world...

I get so bad about picking up odds and ends for stocking stuffers that they end up with new toothbrushes:rotfl2: (I know that's bad), gum, candy, bubble bath (but, Gwendolyn is selling Avon this year--so, I guess she will be doing the lotions and bubble baths this year:rolleyes1 )

maybe try watching the family channel or hallmark channel "Christmas movies" might help your spirits...

Hi Dana
Oh man, six weeks that is pain in the booty. At least it is not right before your trip. I hope BCBS approves the MRI-like Leanne said we have also had good luck with them.
Lists look good. I love me some Subway! As for spoioling them "it's not what you give them, it's how you raise them" I am sure he appreciates all he has. Hang in there.

Thank you Lisa. Don't ever let anyone tell you housework isn't dangerous :lmao: My doctor seemed positive about me not needing surgery, but he said he couldn't totally rule it out until I have the MRI. I'm praying I won't have to have it. I don't worry about the surgery itself, I worry about the anesthesia. I know you have heard of people appearing to be asleep, but they are really awake :scared1:. That scares me. Dale's younger brother Danny is a nurse and he actually took care of a patient that happened to. He said she was able to tell them what they talked about during the surgery and she felt EVERYTHING :scared1:.

I'm glad my list looks good. I have got to get all the paper work together to get my Aflac started and I don't know how long that will take. And I have just about tapped out my Christmas funds........:lmao:.

I thought I would throw some purple and gold in here for you, Connie and Brandi ;).

The weather was nasty all day long. I think it is still raining. I say I wish it would snow, but I'm like you I would want Dale and Amanda to be home. It has actually warmed up some since this morning.

I think I will start picking up a couple of gift cards for each of them for the next few weeks. Dallas does have a wallet, but he always makes me carry his money, he is scared he will lose it. When Amanda asked me what I wanted for Christmas I honestly couldn't think of anything, so I told her to get me a Disney gift card. I like that I can use it at the parks for anything and can reload it any time. I usually put the same things in their stockings as you do........lol.

I know my mood will improve in a day or two. I did DVR a couple of Christmas programs that I will watch tomorrow.

You are so right about needing someone to tell you to snap out of it. It does help put things back in the right light. I shouldn't be complaining at all, I could have messed myself up even worse. I called Aflac today and I am trying to strengthen my leg so I can jump through all the hoops with this brace on :lmao:. It isn't quite as simple as the duck makes it sound.

About the ECVs, if you ride on one from Sam's or Walmart those babies will turn on a dime. No backing up and moving forward to get out of a tight aisle, you just spin the handle bars around and you will turn on the spot :lmao:. Oh and they do have the beep, beep, beep sound when you back up.

Hey Mary. Six weeks IS a long time. I just hope 6 weeks is all it takes. I didn't hear from the doctor's office yesterday so I am going to call them today and see if they have contacted BCBS. I don't what them to just let it slid and then find out I need surgery. If I need it I want to get it over with so I can recuperate and get back to work.

I think we are done with the shopping for the kids. I may pick up a couple more Bakugan for Dallas. They aren't bad on prices, they range from around $5 to $40. I do have pretty good kids if I say so myself. Dallas has a heart as big as all outdoors, as does Tyler, but he tries not to let it show. Amanda is very practical, she is my level headed child. I don't know where she got that from.....:lmao:

Being THE procrastinator of procrastinators I could send you this really pretty crocheted quilt I started in 1990 to finish for me. It's a real cool stitch that looks like knitting. I am the worst of finishing projects. Now it's because I don't have time or too busy on Farmville or Dis. Or this week, actually working. Not liking that one bit. There is always so much to do before the end of the year and I have to have it all done by 12/22. I am glad your weather is being nice. It is cold, windy and chance for snow. Snowing now I would much prefer 70's and sunshine.

Hope your day continues to do well.

I too am a procrastinator. I have a quilt I started cross stitching for Dallas before he was born that I never finished :sad2:. Amanda and I have several things to do today. My stuff is in for my bathroom so I need to pick that up and I have to go get a copy of my medical records and bill for last week to send to Aflac and get a copy of the bill from Monday from the ortho's office. I tell ya what the duck really makes you work for the money. I need to go to HR and get a leave of absence form too. My leg is humming just thinking about all that moving around......:lmao:. I still haven't heard from the doctor's office about my MRI. I called and left a message on voice mail for the BCBS person at the doctor's office to call me back, she didn't .

I guess I need to go to bed. It is a pain in the butt trying to sleep in this torture device. Have a great day at work and think "only 1 day till the weekend".

Well, little missy you were up way late last night for sure. And you have a very busy day. That is a lot of being out at one time. Take it easy.

I've never missed work long enough to claim disability. Not that I wouldn't like to. If I don't have an illness or injury. I want to be able to come and go as I please. I guess that is why they make retirement.

Speaking of, Don turned in his vacay days for next year and the last day he has to work is the Friday after Thanksgiving. He will collect his first pension check on Dec first and the Dec vacay check, Social Security and pension Jan 1 and 6 weeks vacay Jan 1

Creep. I still have to do another year. Maybe I could get my crocheting done. I'll send you mine and you send me Dallas'

I was up late. It is so uncomfortable sleeping with this boot on, I have to wake up to turn over. I hope the doctor's office doesn't drag their feet filling out the paper work. I don't know how long it will take Aflac to get everything going once they get the paper work. This sure wasn't the time of year to get hurt, not that anytime is a good time.

I'm jealous of Don, I wish I could think about retirement, but that is at least 21 years away for me. I haven't crocheted in so long I don't know if I can remember how..:lmao:

I have my good times and my bad. The pain is like a muscle cramp that won't go away, the thing is nothing really helps the pain, not even the pain pills. Oh well, I guess BCBS thinks I should wait until the pain gets WORSE before they will do an MRI.

I may have all this mess going on, but I am excited for Amanda. She will graduate in May and she has been sending out her resume for the past couple of weeks. She had hoped to be hired full time at the University. She had been promised the job, but the man who was her boss, and made that promise, decided to retire. The new boss hired a church friend. So today she had a phone interview with a company called Docusys. The home office is in Atlanta with the second office here in Mobile. The lady was impressed and she is flying in next week to have a face to face interview with Amanda :cool1:. If she gets the job she will be a technical writer or work in document control. Amanda is a CIS and Business double major. If she is hired they would want her to start right away and work part time while she is finishing school. I am praying she gets this job.

That was always my worst fear with the girls growing up. And that stinking Sandi did it just to spite me I know. I threatened Sheri I would take her to court and get custody of her kids if she took them. I guess the threat worked. They are still here.

I would hate it if I had to come down there and take care of your insurance situation for you. I guess 38 years of doing it and arguing with them I've learned a few lessons. This one tops it all.

I am just so frustrated with BCBS. I know it isn't as bad, but I feel like the people in the movie The Rain Maker. Where there is someone sitting behind a desk somewhere, who has never even seen me, making medical decisions for me.

I want to have some fun dag nab it, I am tired of being locked away like Rapunzel..........:lmao:. If I had some cookie mix he and I would be baking. It is time for him to start doing some of the cooking around here...........:rotfl:.

I am so proud of Amanda. She has always worked so hard to get what she wants. She is so smart, I don't know where she gets it from.......:rotfl2:. The company is a medical company that deals with anesthesia delivery equipment. The ad for the job said starting pay of $50,000, I went to school for the wrong thing .

It is exciting for Amanda. I was scared she would end up moving somewhere like Seattle. When she was a sophomore she was invited by Microsoft to come up there and intern for a year :scared1:. I was sooooooooooo worried she was going to take them up on it. She didn't do it because she didn't want to end up a year behind on graduation. She has her time table all set up and she doesn't like to vary from her plans.

I am hoping our insurance rep, Connie, will be able to take care of BCBS. I have to get a letter of medical necessity from Dr. Daugherty and bring it, along with the two letters I got from CareCore, to her and she will take it before the committee and see if she can get it approved. I just wonder how long that is going to take. If I could fake it, I would just call the doctor and say I was all better, and get him to write me a release, but there is no way I can fake the fact that I CAN'T walk. I'm really feeling helpless and trapped.

I do have a bright spot in my day though and that is my family. I am so blessed to have them and to have such wonderful friends here on the Dis. I just wish we weren't all scattered to the 4 corners of the country.

How exciting for Amanda! I'll be keeping her in my prayers that everything works out for her. You know how I worry about Lacey being so far away from home. I wouldn't wish that on any mother.

Thank you Lisa. I hope it works out for Amanda too. I was really disappointed that the job at the University fell through just 6 months before she graduates. I know you worry about Lacey. I thought about you when Amanda said the home office of the company is in Atlanta. When will Lacey be finished with her studies? Is she planning on mission work? I know that is a blessed calling, but I would be crazy if any of my kids had to leave the country.

Hi Dana! Sorry to hear about your MRI. :sad2: How exciting for Amanda though. We will definitely pray for her! I hope she gets it Dana!

Thank you Leanne. If the doctor's office will just call me back today.........grrrrrr, maybe I can get something done. I just want to feel productive and not feel like I am just spinning in place. I hope Amanda gets the job too. She is really smart and very gracious so I have faith she will get the job.

I know how proud you must be of Amanda. It is so nice when a child has a goal and strives very hard to see it thru. It makes you want to do all you can to help them. We are that way with Austin. His whole life he has known his plan. Just not sure of what kind of work he would get into. We always said he would have to be his own boss not that he is not good with taking orders he is very good at being the leader.

Tell your insurance girl Connie to call me, I'll fix them right up. Oh, how I wish I could for you for sure. It's that not knowing the outcome that makes it so hard for you.

Cookies sound like fun. I have always had my girls and grandchildren work in the kitchen with me. It is tons of fun and they feel like they have acomplished something.

Lacey has one more year and will have her degree in Humanities. I have no idea what the heck you do with a degree in Humanities. We fought for almost a year before she went to Mission Georgia Master's Commission. The tuition is $11,000.00 a year and they can have no job at all. I told her if she could come up with half of the money, I'd quit fussing. I just couldn't see her making a living doing something like missionary work or work in a church.

The people at our church stood behind her and donated over $3,000.00. They also pledged to keep sending her money the first year. So, I stopped fussing. I still worry a lot though. I don't know how in the world she's going to earn money to live.

Right now, she is dating one of her fellow Mission students, Jessie. His parents are pastors and travel all over the United States helping children who have been abused. They also run a homeless shelter in Tennessee. Jessie has traveled to India and two other countries that I can't remember doing missionary work.

The thought of Lacey going out of the country scares me to death. Heck, I am scared to death when I know it's her day to work at the homeless shelter in Atlanta. She said some of the people are nice to her and some are downright mean to her.

I just continue to pray for her every day. I know that the good Lord above has a plan for Lacey. I just hope that plan is to keep her safe and sound in the good ole U.S.A.

Good morning dear Dana. I hope you are having a grand day. I wish you were here with me enjoying the 16 degree temp and snow flurries. Ok, I lied. I do wish I were there with you tho. That is no lie and not because of the weather either. I hope you can have a semi-productive day and your pain and aggravation is not as severe.

Amanda has always been such a go getter. I had to work hard to get good grades and they seem to come easy to her.

Connie is such a sweet person. Dr D's nurse finally called me back and I told her I needed the letter of medical necessity. So she was suppose to put a note on my chart so the Dr D can write it, but the kicker is......he has been out sick this week and won't be back until Monday :sad2:. I feel like I am running into a wall at every turn.

I knew Amanda wanted to go into the computer field. I thought it would be a good choice. Her freshman year her minor was German language, but sophomore year she decided to change it and was able to get enough business classes to graduate with the double major. She has a couple of friends who are art majors. ART majors? I asked her why in the world they majored in art? The two girls are sisters, one wants to go into graphic design and the other wants to be a painter. I told Amanda that, in my opinion, being a painter was dependent on talent not college.

Amanda's boyfriend is majoring is business of some sort :confused3. Matt's dad is a politician and his mom owns a catering and florist business.

I don't even try to push Tyler. He has got to get more serious before we will even discuss him going to college :rolleyes1.

I know you worry about Lacey. I was holding my breath when Amanda said the home office, for the company she is interviewing with, is in Atlanta. I glad they have an office here in Mobile.

I so wish it would snow here. We didn't get any the other day. It is pretty cool here. It is 39 here now, but it isn't suppose to get much cooler. I didn't accomplish much of anything today. My leg was REALLY hurting today. I called to get the doctor to write me another Rx because I am almost out of pain meds. Well, he is still out and won't be back until Monday. I have 4 pain pills to last until Monday :scared1:. OH, I just wish this was over with. I want to go see the Christmas decorations in the mall :sad1::sad2::upsidedow.

I really have to praise all you wonderful SAHMs. I know your day consists of much much more than I am able to do right now, but I have been running out of ideas to keep me and Dallas busy. I was hurting pretty bad today so we didn't get any extra stuff done, but WE did learn a lot about Cathedrals. That is one wonderful thing about homeschooling, I learn as much as he does. We never studied about cathedrals in school. Did you know cathedrals are typically built in the shape of a cross? I sure didn't. Ginny, how far are you from Highlandsville? OK, so Dale leaves for work at like 6am and I doze back off for a little bit. Well, he scared the bejeebers out of me at about 8:30. I am a very light sleeper and I hear the front door open and Niko goes bonkers barking and growling :scared1:. Connie's friend came to mind and then Dale comes walking into the bedroom :confused3. I forgot that he has to go to Sam's on Wednesdays to pick up stuff for work. So, he takes Niko out for me :goodvibes and heads out to the office. I got up and waddled on into the living room :sad2:. Around 11:30 he calls and says he will be home about 2. Two? Yeah, his boss was going to let him get out early because he knew Dale was taking me out and he also had an ulterior motive :rolleyes1.

I started getting ready about noon because I knew it was going to take a while since I can't stand at the mirror for too long and for some reason I just can't sit down and put on my make-up. Sad huh? At about 1:45 I was finishing up and Dale called and said he was on his way :yay::woohoo::cheer2:. I was seriously excited, like it was our first date .

It felt so nice to be dressed up and getting out of the house. I wore my black jeans and a silver and black sweater. The black jeans were nice because my designer foot/leg wear blended in :lmao:. So off to Pensacola we go. Not only were we going out, but we had some business to take care of too. Dale had to sign some papers on our truck. Since I am off work and don't know when Aflac is going to get started, we extended the loan on our truck for 5 months. Not much, but since I'm not on the note we couldn't use the disability clause on the loan. It actually lowered the payments too :yay:. So now instead of paying off in May, it will be October. OK, OK , OK, so much for that mumbo jumbo.

I love Mexican food, it just has the right blend of spices, textures, colors and flavors. I could sit down and eat a bunch of cilantro right by itself . Now, I know what we get is really Tex-Mex, but that is what I like. The best Mexican food is at Vallarta's. There are several in Pensacola and I think some in south Florida too. There are 3 that we frequent and the managers at all 3 know who we are, sad isn't it, that when we walk in they say "Hey, Señora so nice to see you again"........:lmao: There is one in Perdido Beach(Lisa and Connie may know where Perdido Beach is), one right by Pensacola Naval Air Station and one on Hwy.29 in Ensley. Well, we decided to go to the one on Hwy. 29. The manager here actually use to manage a Mexican restaurant here in Mobile so he has know us for a LONG time. We get there around 4:30. When we walked in after saying "nice to see you" he looks at my leg and says "OH no, what has happened to you?" I tell him "Ruptured Achilles tendon", and he says "That is very painful", I had to agree.

He took us to our table and I, like my Disister Lisa, had to go pee. I waddle to the bathroom and when I got back to the table there was my favorite food in the world waiting for me............SALSA. I will confess, I got a medium frozen margarita. I had not eaten anything all day and had not taken any pain meds since I first got out of bed because I love a good margarita, so I saved up my calories and took only ibuprofen so I could have one. I ordered a chicken chimichanga which comes with refried beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. Dale got a chicken quesadilla which also comes with the beans and rice. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM is all I can say. After we finished our main course Dale ordered a fried ice cream. Now if you have never had fried ice cream it is out of this world. The ice cream is coated with egg and corn flakes, or something crunchy, then fried. It comes in a flaky cinnamon crust, think sweet cinnamon taco salad shell, topped with whipped topping, chocolate sauce and a cherry. Again YUMMMMMMMMMMMM. When we get one we share, because we are usually full after the main course. We shared this one too. They know us so well they always bring 2 spoons :lmao:. When our waiter brought us our ticket he asked if everything was "OK" and then he says "Maam, I hope you get much better soon". AWWWWWWWW, I think that was really sweet of him.

We leave Vallarta's and we are heading up Hwy 29 and there it is...........a DOLLAR TREE. I love me some Dollar Tree. I talked Dale into going in. I finally got all the stuff I ordered for the bathroom and I need some new pictures and Dollar Tree sometimes has some pretty good pictures. No luck this time :sad1:. If you remember I said Dale's boss had an ulterior motive? Well, he wanted Dale to get him some lottery tickets. Dale works in Mississippi and even though they have casinos, his boss like to play the lottery....:confused3. We head back to Mobile. When we got back in town I needed some stuff so we were going to stop at Walmart, but instead we stopped at Walgreens and I got some flour, baking soda, eggs and a few other odds and ends. We got home about 8:00-8:30.

I had such a GREAT time. It was really nice to be out in the world again. So, I guess today I paid for the few minutes of walking around with my leg hurting all day. Would I do it again? Probably. I had a very good time. With the doctor saying I would probably be out 2-3 months it won't take much to make me happy :goodvibes.

Highlandvile is about 25 miles and yes I have been to that Cathedral before. It is really quite pretty. And they have a really good restaurant that has homemade fried chicken. The real stuff. Delish.

Now, on to this wonderful date of yours. Totally well deserved. I bet you looked really nice in the black jeans. I'm sure Dale was thrilled to have a date night too. We eat at that Vallarta's in Perdido Beach when we go beaching in the summer. We really like it too. And I always order the chicken chimi. That is my fav Mexican food. And chips and salsa. I love me some margaritas but on the rocks not frozen. Sounds so yummy. Makes me want to head to the beach. We stay in Perdido Key on the end closest to Pensacola.

I bet you paid the price when you got home being up so much. But I know it was totally worth it. That super sweet hubby of yours making it so special for you. That had to lift your spirits tremendously.

Next time you go to the cathedral get some pictures. I would love to see it. I sure would like to have some homemade fried chicken. I haven't had any good fried chicken in a while.

I didn't know you stayed in Perdido. Next time you stay we really need to get together. The Vallarta's there is the first one we ever ate at. The Blue Angel's Vallarta's is on the same road but about 10 miles east. I love their food, it is always so good. I love the fajitas too, but I usually get them when Tyler is with me because I can only eat one. I get so full on the chips and salsa. If I got the margarita on the rocks I would drink it too fast :lmao:. I can't make a margarita that tastes like theirs. I have bought all the stuff and made them from scratch and I have bought mixers and they just don't taste the same :confused3.

I really enjoyed being out of the house. I did pay for it, but it was worth it. I am hoping I can get him to take me riding tomorrow. I am going to be on the scooter at Wally World so we can buy groceries, but I want to do more than that. I'm trying to convince him to take us to Bellingrath Gardens to see the Christmas lights.

Thank you April, it was sweet. I buy a bunch of cilantro every week and I will put it on hamburgers, nachos, steaks you name and I will try cilantro on it. Dale gets so aggravated with me having to go to the bathroom so much....:confused3. I make a pretty decent salsa, but it isn't as good as they make at Vallarta's. I'm hoping we can get out tomorrow and do some stuff. The forecast is calling for rain, but it isn't even drizzling.

It was good Leanne. Fancy is OK once in a while, but casual is much better. Dale's job doesn't even have a Christmas party any more. They use to have a decent little dinner and we played dirty Santa, but they haven't had one in about 11 years. I am going to the grocery store tomorrow, but if I can talk Dale into it maybe we can at least go riding. I really want to take Dallas to see The Princess and the Frog too so that is an option.

I think we are going to see The Princess & the Frog tomorrow. The girls are pretty excited about it. Let us know about tomorrow's trip!

I actually talked Dale, well it was pretty easy, into taking me to the mall. Amanda went online and found out our mall has wheelchair rental. We got to the mall and Dale dropped Amanda, Dallas and Me off at the front and we waited for him. We rented a wheelchair and Dale pushed me around, boy was it crowded. The weird thing was, hardly anybody had bags. It was as if everybody was just out window shopping. Dale wanted to try and find an Alabama SEC championship cap, but everybody was sold out. One of the stores said they were getting a new shipment on Tuesday. That is why it was easy to get him to go to the mall, he wanted to find that hat. We had lunch at Chili's then went to Walmart. I feel so strange riding around on the ECV.

It took us all day to get this stuff done. It normally would have been a half day venture, but with my leg the few things we did took forever :sad2:.

I'm excited about The Princess and the Frog. Becky(ladybugmom) gave away 2 children's tickets for the movie, and I won one for Dallas :woohoo::banana:.THANK YOU BECKY:goodvibes:hug:. We didn't get to go yesterday and today my leg has really been bothering me, I think it is the weather. I hope we can go Tuesday or Wednesday. Amanda is off one of those days, but I can't remember which. I'm excited Dallas wants to see it. Don't tell him I told ya'll ;).

I did find out Aflac is sending me a check on the accident part of my policy, I have to get the rest of the papers from the doctor's office and have my HR department at work do their part and I will hopefully have the disability check from Aflac starting. I would much, much, much rather be at work.

Glad your date night went good, things here are better....I still have a job, which is a good thing, and we're all getting over colds. I think we're going next saturday to ride the new space mountain, so I'll report back on that!! :) I hope your leg is feeling better!!!
It is so good to hear from you. I was thinking about you and how things were going for you at work. I hope it continues to get better at work. I know with times like they are having a job is important, but there are times when mental and physical health mean more. I'm here anytime you want to talk, you have my phone number and at this point in time I am pretty much available 24/7. Thanks about the leg, I just want them to hurry up and decide if they want to do surgery or not. If you go get lots of pictures because I need the Disney fix......:lmao:.

Yay for fun at the mall.

It was nice Mary. I think it will probably be one of those "random" memories, you know the kind that don't seem great at the moment. It was special that we were together. I just wish Tyler would join us when we go on these outings.

I'm glad you got to have a good weekend. Well deserved. We got back from Kansas City about 7:30. Did laundry and picked up stuff a little. Don cooked dinner for Mike and Andrew tonite. Austin had company at home and didn't come over. We had a fun time in Kansas City. I'll try to get some pics up of our hotel. We went out on the balcony and looked at the pretty lights at the Plaza. I am totally tired tonight. I have slept on a roll-a-way for 2 nights. There are 3 of us and the beds were just fulls. Next year is Cindy's turn. Sheri did it last year. I did not get a lot of presents bought but I think I will go online tomorrow and finish up.

Have a a good day tomorrow. Glad you are at least getting a check. It's a start.

Sounds like you and Dale had a wonderful date night. I've gotta tell you that your date nights sound just like mine and John's. The last time we went out by ourselves, we went to eat seafood and then stopped at the Dollar Tree and Big Lots. Whoooey! Do we live it up or what?!?!?:lmao:

I am glad that you got to get out of the house. I know that you needed it!

Lisa, I can't believe I missed your post :guilty:. We had a very good time and I am ready to go again. We went to the mall yesterday and to Chili's and Walmart, but it wasn't the same :confused3. I LOVE Dollar Tree. I haven't been to Big Lots in a while, but Dollar Tree is my favorite place. We went there yesterday too, I forgot about that. I swear we lead exciting lives don't we.......:lmao:.

Hi Dana !!! Your date night sounds like fun. I love when Manny and I get to go out. Anything is considered a date when it's just me and him, which doesn't occur very often at all.

I can't wait to take my girls to see Princess and the frog too. I think we're going to go the sunday after christmas. That movie looks so cute.

It sounds like you had a very good weekend. I can't wait to see the pictures. I wouldn't want to live right in the middle of a city, but I think the lights of a city are so pretty. My ex-SIL lived in Birmingham when Doug and I were married and one of her apartments was on Red Mountain and you could see the lights of Birmingham from her balcony. I know you were give out from sleeping on the roll-away.

I'm getting aggravated with my doctor's nurse. I talked with her Wednesday and I told her then I was almost out of my pain meds, she said just call back on Thursday and leave the message on the voice mail and she would take care of it. Well, when I called Thursday the recorded message said she and Dr. D would be off till today. Another doctor's nurse called me back and said I would need to call today because I would have to get a written Rx. So I have been out of pain meds since Saturday. I called twice today and she never called me back............grrrrrrrrrrrr. It is very annoying.

Hey Pam. We did have a nice time. I'm missing it already. I don't know when we will get to do it again.

I saw that the movie was number one this past weekend. I think we are going to go this week on a weekday so it won't be so crowded and walking on my crutches won't be so bad. I am going to wait until the weather clears up some though I'm kinda nervous walking around on wet pavement. I think the movie looks cute too.

I just want them to hurry up and make a decision. I am starting to get really upset with my doctor. He told me he would see me after the MRI and since BCBS denied the MRI, you would think they would tell me when to come back in for another evaluation and see what we are going to do. The bad thing about it all is I can't even change doctors because that group is on our list of approved doctors and they are the only group we can see.

I hope you get lots of pictures. I am missing Disney so much right now. I think it is because I know we won't be coming down for Christmas :sad1:. I want to see pix of you in the Tigger Santa hat.

It was nice to get out this weekend. My ex husband offered me the use of his Mom's ECV, but I don't think I'm gonna get it. He said it is really heavy so I don't want to have to deal with it. Depending on how long this goes on, I may change my mind :rolleyes1

I couldn't live in town either. When we first moved here our house wasn't even in the city limits. After several years we got annexed. We then moved to this house and we are between Springfield and Willard. Have Springfield address but utilities, school, fire dept and everything is Willard. Springfield wanted to annex us because the road next to us backs up to the airport (back side) and we all voted no. We like no man's land. Kansas City was very pretty tho.

Now shame on that nurse. She knew she was going to be off on Thursday and for her to tell you to call was unacceptable. And for her to not call you back. Grrrrrrrrrrrr is right. So uncalled for. I'm really surprised they have not been more accomodating to you and working harder to get something done on your behalf.

Prayers of healing for you.

Where I live is like that too Ginny. I live in Mobile county about 1 mile from the city limits. The area I live in is on the outskirts of Mobile. I am about 10 miles from the Mississippi line. When we first moved out here (it is known as West Mobile) there was a small Walmart, a couple of grocery stores and a florist that was about it. Well, in the 15 years we have lived out here this area has become the major shopping area. The city had tried to annex this area for years, well last year our new mayor figured out a way to get the shopping areas. He only let certain areas vote in the annexation, yeah fair huh? But, anyway we didn't get annexed because we are just past the line. I too live by the airport.

Nancy, Dr D's nurse, finally called me back today. She said she was sorry she didn't get back with me yesterday, but with Dr D being out sick last week it put them way behind. That still doesn't explain why she told me to call back Thursday :rolleyes1.

The weather here has been absolutely horrible since Friday night. It has been raining and muggy and just gray blah outside. Not very conducive to the mental health of a shut in :sad2:. So when Dr D's nurse called this morning and told me she had my Rx and I could come pick it up  woooo hoooo a little pain relief. Soooooooooooo I had to come up with a plan, Dale was at work, as was Amanda, so they couldn't take me. I REFUSE to ride with Tyler so how am I going to get my Rx? I will go myself :rolleyes1:scared1:. I get dressed, grab my crutches and head out the door :rolleyes1.
I know I am a lunatic when I get half way to the doctors office and realize I had no way of walking with crutches, carrying my purse and holding an umbrella. I start to panic :scared1: what am I doing? Why did I think I could do this? I will tell you this, pain will make you do crazy things. I park the car and hatched my plan, I would not worry about getting wet, I would take my cell phone, keys and money in my pocket and off I would go. Thank goodness for the "MOBILITY IMPAIRED PATIENTS" parking spots. I make it in the building :dance3::yay:. Now when I say this is a big office I mean BIG. There are 21 orthopedic surgeons in this office. They have an office where you sign in just to pick up papers. I signed in and waited about 10 minutes in which time I had to explain, to other patients, my injury :rotfl2:. I need to come up with a more adventurous story about how I got injured, making the bed just sounds boring :lmao:. I hear my name and I waddle over to the office, Ms. Judy didn't have the Rx at her desk...........grrrrrrrrrr........NANCY. I also asked her if she had the form I needed to take to my job for the Aflac? NOPE :sad2:. So, Ms. Judy gets up goes to the back of this massive office, poor Ms. Judy, and gets the Rx and asks Alicia, "paper work girl", if my form is ready. She comes back with the Rx and then has to wait for Alicia to get back to her desk and have her put the form in the tube system and have it sent up front. Now, I say poor Ms. Judy because she too has a brace on her leg where she had to have surgery 3 months ago to repair a torn ACL, MCL and PCL. She fell in her yard too. When she got back to her desk she asks to see my drivers license :scared1: drivers license? I didn't have no stinking drivers license with me, they were in my purse in the car. Well, she says, we are suppose to see your drivers license before we give you a Rx for narcotics. I could not believe I had to go all the way back out to the car get my DL and make it back up there. She said that's OK, she pulls my DL up on the computer. Yeah, they have that in their system. So she gets my papers, I sign saying I got my Rx and I make my way back to the elevator. I got outside and the valet asks me if I want a ride to my car, in the golf cart. I accept and he drives me the 30 feet to my car :lmao:. Now, I have to make it to the pharmacy, done, hard to do, but done. Then I have to take all my papers to the hospital. All of these buildings are on campus where I work, so right together. I hobble to payroll to drop off my Aflac papers then head up to the nursery to see my co-workers for a few minutes and leave my FMLA papers. I have to tell you, I was soaking wet, not just from rain, I was sweating like I had ran a 10 mile marathon.

So, I can do it. I can drive and get around, hard as it may be, but doable. Ask me how tired I was, just ask. OK, I WAS EXHAUSTED. I slept for 3 hours this evening, thus no sleep now :sad2:. I think I may have overdone it just a little, but at least I know now I can get out and not feel like I am trapped :woohoo:.

It was a day. When I got in the car to go you would have thought I was a 16 yo who had just been given the keys to the car. It was almost intoxicating :rotfl2:. Yeah......:rotfl:.

OH yeah, I almost forgot the news of Wednesday. I was talking to a co-worker on facebook and she asks me if I heard about what had happened to our assistant nurse manager(Shirley), I told her no. Well, her 6 week old grand baby had to be put in the hospital a couple of days ago with RSV so Shirley has been trying to get off work. When census is low we can request to be called off work, that gives us a day off and another nurse the chance to work and get hours and it doesn't count against us. We are all pretty good at taking our turn and so forth. So this morning about 4:30 or 5:00 Erica called Shirley to give her the day off, and as Shirley was trying to get to the phone she slipped and fell and broke her arm :scared1: Now, there are two day shift nurses out in nursery(Shirley and Me) and one night shift nurse out on peds.

We are all getting clumsy........:lmao:

aaaateamsgrandma
12-17-2009, 10:40 AM
Oh my goodness. Poor Shirley. Where my friend works the NIC unit here they are doing the same thing. Their census is very low for some reason. I think they only have 11 babies right now. A month ago it was over 30. She had tons of time off which she likes but she is using her comp time so she can still get paid. She isn't going to have any vacay left at this rate.

I know that feeling of independence and being out on your own. When I broke my leg I had to depend on people to drive me back and forth to work and after a month of that the Dr. said I could start driving. Left leg thank goodness. So 9 months on crutches non weight bearing, 3 months with a cane I was so ready to get that part of my life over. Sandi was a sophomore and Sheri 8th grade. I ended up missing 3 weeks of work. 1 week in the hosp. and 2 weeks in therapy everyday.

You can and will get thru this. You have great strength and HE will provide.

First, great date night!!!:thumbsup2:love: and yes I have been to Perdido although Danny still prefers to drive all the way to FWB; so it has been a number of years since I have been there. I'm sure it is nothing like I remember!!!

Next, I'm so happy that you were able to go to the mall and get out I know that you have been wanting to do that! :santa:

Now, onto your RX adventure:headache: I can't believe you did not at least take Dallas with you to help you carry everything.... WOW!! what an office setup....I use to deal with the front desk, take msg, fill msg, fill out the insurance forms, legal forms, pull charts for the next day, and when I found the time between checking in and out the pts I answered the phone....I would have loved a spot where I only had to do one of those things...not really!! I enjyoed the rush....and loved it even more when I was able to help out in the back if an asst was gone!!! we only had three doctors and two at a time...but, we were the only ortho surgerons in the parish... CAN YOU SAY BUSY!!

I 'm so sorry to hear about your friend Shirley I hope she is able to help with her grandbaby and still take care...

One day after the holidays we will have to plan a meet.... Danny is looking forward to it as much as we are!!! Hopefully, you can get around a little better as you learn how to get out on your own!!!

Always, thinking about you!!

P.S. behave yourself and take it easy...and you need to call that doctor and make another appt!!! don't slip through the cracks it has been known to happen!

YUMMMMMMMMMM that would be a good Christmas eve dinner. Dallas LOVES to help me make homemade pizza and I promise you can't find better pizza dough than Publix. They have some of the best looking cakes I have ever seen so I may buy one for our dessert for Christmas.

April, Lisa and Becky I got the Christmas cards. I have been sending Tyler out to the mailbox daily to check it for me because the cards help pick my spirit up. Ya'll I truly have a hard time being stuck in the house. It was a beautiful day yesterday, but the rain came back today :sad2:.

I was playing the video and Niko was looking at me and wondering where my voice was coming from :lmao:. Thank you Ginny. We have soooooooo many ornaments I would need 8 or 9 trees to use them all. The masks were to be the start of a collection, but I never collected any more.

I have never tried to make the dough myself, I have always bought the kits. It is a chore with the Publix crust too because it is hard to roll out. One done though it is so good. I have to make 2 large pizzas.

I hope ya'll have a good weekend too. It is suppose to be sunny and cool here, I am more than ready to see the sun. I hope everybody has gotten the cards I sent out. I will be watcing the mail.

Hey! Dana
I just asked you about my card on my thread!
Niko is so cute our poodle use to do that (I say use to cause I rarely do that anymore with her!! She said mama too! Ashton loved Niko!!!

I have mask somewhere in the attic I need to find them...

your tree looks great!!!! Hope your spirits life with the season soon....a trip to the mall sounds in good order...
:santa:

I didn't get it today Connie, so it will probably be in the mail tomorrow. Did you get yours? I don't think Niko likes doing it too much :rolleyes1. He just does it for me and Dale. Dale can make him sound like he is really talking..:lmao:. I will have to get Dale to make Niko say he loves Ashton.

I am going to try and talk Dale into coming to NO around my birthday and if we do I will look for some more masks.

Thanks about the tree. I want a big ole fat tree. I have decided I am going to move some stuff around and next year have the whole corner to put my tree in. I may just have to do that this weekend . I will have to sneak it in on Dale though, if I come right out and say something about it he will try and talk me out of it.

That little Niko is too cute!!

I love all of your Disney ornaments, i'm so jealous. My goal is to have a bunch by next year for me tree. We do have a few, but I NEED more. I really want this Mickey and Minnie light up tree topper that I saw in the Disney store, it's so beautiful!!!!

Thanks Pam. Niko things he is a boy, I swear he does. I only have part of my Disney ornaments on the tree. I am going to organize my ornaments this year. I made myself a promise :thumbsup2. I saw that tree topper too Pam and I want it so bad. I may have to just cave in and get it for myself for Christmas :rolleyes1.

Cayley loved the video. She said "him likes mommy the best"

I'm glad Cayley liked it. Dallas thinks it is funny too. And you tell Miss Cayley she is very smart. Niko knows I am the alpha dog around here and he steps high when I tell him to........:lmao:

For some reason tonight I started with a migraine and it is one of those nagging type that just seems to want to hang on, not the blinding, lock yourself in a dark room type, just the it won't leave me alone type. But anyway I refuse to give in to any more pain. I will forge ahead :lmao:. So Saturday was a very good, full, fun day. On Friday I spoke with my good friend Lisa. We have been friends for almost 30 years. She lives in Pensacola. I called her to see if she wanted to meet up for lunch Saturday since we were going to ride over.

Before going to lunch we had a few things we needed to do. I wanted a pair of headphones for Christmas and Dale wanted a new recliner, yeah he likes the expensive stuff....:rotfl:. We went and looked at a few recliners, but we wanted to talk it over before making a decision. We headed to BestBuy to check out the headphones and I found a pair that are really nice. They are called Skullcandy. They have a sub-woofer on them......:lmao:. I like to rock out :rockband:. I'm not sure how good they will be, but I will have to let ya'll know. While we were at BB, I saw the G-Force DVD so I had to get it for Dallas.

Now, just a little background on Lisa and my friendship. She is my oldest nephew's ex wife, they have been divorced almost 22 years. They got married when they were 17 and they have 3 children together, Dwayne is 27, Joseph is 25, and Bekah is 24, they are the grandchildren to my sister Pat, who passed away in July. Despite their divorce Lisa and I have remained friends. There was a period when we lost contact, but when we started talking again it was as if no time had even passed. Bekah has two little girls, Mariah 4 and Taylee 2.

I haven't seen them since my sister's funeral and I wanted to catch up. We decided to eat at....................can you guess?...............Vallarta's.........lol. Dale and I got there first and then Lisa, Randy(Lisa's DBF), and Mariah came in. She said Bekah and Taylee were following and that she had spoken to Joe and he was going to join us too.............:yay:. Dwayne is in Atlanta so he couldn't be there. My 3 were at home, they didn't want to come :confused3.
Dale and I had gotten the girls a Christmas gift and I didn't want to just give it to them without Bekah's permission, so I was holding Taylee and whispered, very quietly, to Bekah to let me know if she wanted to just take the presents home, I didn't want to cause a problem with Santa. After about 10 minutes, as we were all sitting around eating, Taylee looks at me from across the table and very softly asks, "Aunt Dana, what you get me?" I almost choked on my chip....:lmao:

After we finished eating we went out to the parking lot and gave the girls their presents. We gave Mariah a Barbie and Taylee a Tinker Bell doll. I wanted one of the Tinker Bell dolls, but they didn't have any more :(.

Here at the pictures

Taylee and me. Taylee is the BEST baby I have ever seen. I brought her home with me for a weekend when she was 2 months old, she slept for 6 hours straight every night :goodvibes.

And last, all of us in the parking lot letting the girl's open their gifts.

You can see my lovely designer leg wear in the picture. It was really funny seeing Mariah hug Dale, because she had been stand offish all day. Hey, give a girl a gift and they was hug you every time :lmao:. If you look close they both have a bag of M & M's. Dale just HAD to put some candy in the bags. I told him Bekah was going to kill him. They loved their dolls, but Taylee was happier with the M & M's. I have a Tinker Bell tag on the front of my truck. I showed it to the girls and they was just awed. They thought it was so pretty. They both had on princess shoes, and if you ask Mariah what she is she will say "I'm a princess", if you ask Taylee she will say "I'm a gurl"....

So, after many, many hugs we parted ways. When we got back to Mobile we went and bought Dale his new recliner :rolleyes1, and we still had to go to the grocery store:scared1:.

Thus we had a very good Saturday:lovestruc:love:. The only thing that would have made it better would have been for Amanda, Tyler, Dallas and Dwayne to have been there.

My migraine is now gone :woohoo:.

So glad you liked the Christmas card!! The girls LOVED yours!!! And I just LOVE your Disney tree!! I plan on having one next year--I've been buying ornaments on clearance and I bought the Tinkerbell tree topper from the Disney Store.

So sorry you had a migraine! I get migraines a lot--but I see lights, get blind spots, and have to go lay down in a dark room. They are no fun! What a sweet family get together! It looks like you had a wonderful time!!

I am so glad you had a fun weekend. Darling children. I know that meant a lot to you to be with them. I want to see Princess and Frog but I have no one to go with me. I guess I'll wait till it comes out on dvd. As always.

Have a great day. I hope you hear something soon on your leg situation.

I got your card and thank you. I so loved it.

Dana, Sorry I haven't been around in a day or two. Like I've told my other Dis friends, I don't dis much unless I am at work. I swore them to secrecy so you're sworn too now.

I love the video of Niko. Poor baby, you were gonna get him to talk weren't you. We make our dog talk to us too. If he wants us to throw the football to him, he has to back up and we'll ask him if he wants the ball, he'll start barking. I laugh every time.

Your tree is beautiful. I love all of the Disney ornaments. I've got a few Disney ornaments but not enough to decorate my entire tree.

Yeah for you getting out Saturday. It looks like you were having a great time meeting up with old friends. And, I love the designer leg wear. Just don't think I want to go through what you are to get one of 'em.

By the way, I got your card. Thanks so very much!

I was so glad it went away too. I hate the kind that come on without a warning. If I can tell I'm getting one I hit it with 800mg motrin and I'm good to go. It I get behind it I'm in for it. Thank you about Mariah and Taylee. Mariah is kinda spoiled, but Taylee is just so sweet. It was a very good day, lots of fun. It makes me feel old though because I can still see Bekah at their age.

I'm glad the girls liked the card. I want to make my tree all Disney next year, so that means I get to buy more ornaments . I keep hoping the Disney store or the online store has the tree topper on sale after Christmas. I looked at the Tinkerbell and the Mickey and Minnie toppers, I think I like the Tink one better.

I hate it when a migraine comes on suddenly. If I get auras I am doomed. They usually come when the worst of my migraines hit.

We really had a wonderful time Saturday. One of my favorite Christmas' was spent with Lisa when Bekah, Joe and Dwayne were little.

Thank you Ginny. The girls are really funny. We did have a fun weekend, now we have this week and then back to the waiting for Disney! The Princess and the Frog was such a cute movie. I would love to take Dallas to NO so he could see the real city.

I'm glad you got the card. I have been calling people daily and still nothing. I am about ready to forge the doctors name and just go back to work.

I haven't been as active on here as I usually would be. I seem to not have as much Disney spirit as I should :sad2:.

Thanks about the tree. I have got to buy some of the ornament boxes this year and get all of my ornaments in order. I have a few Disney ornaments I didn't put on the tree, just for the sake of room.

It was really nice to get out Saturday. I just don't know how much longer I am going to be able to deal with this being house bound. I will be glad to let you borrow my lovely boot. An old friend suggested we bedazzle it to really make it designer :lmao:.

Hope you are having a good day Dana.

Thanks Ginny. I hope you have a great day too.

I just remembered that I wanted to pass along my migraine tip. When I get a migraine I get sick to my stomach and my vision gets all blurry. One day when John was in his neurologist's office, I mentioned my migraines to the doctor. I told her that it seemed like straight lemon juice seemed to help. She said that lemon juice is a natural antihistamine and she wasn't surprised to hear that it helped my headache. Since I told her that, she has talked to several neurologists who started recommending that their patients try lemon juice for migraines. I always keep lemon juice concentrate in my fridge. If I feel a headache coming on, I pour about a third of a coffee cup and mix in some salt. I sip it until it's gone.

Thank you, I have some lemon juice in my fridge and I will sure try it next time. After I read this I remembered my ex said he was told pineapple juice was good to drink when a migraine is coming on, but I never tried it. Amanda gets some really serious migraines. She has stroke like symptoms at times and our neurologist said that it can get so bad she could start having seizures :scared1:. Tyler use to get them, but he hasn't had one in quite a few years. I hope Dallas doesn't get them. Dr. Elmore says they are hereditary and they are usually passed on from the mother. Thanks Mom :lmao:.

I love Christmas and the spirit that comes with it :santa:. I think back on my childhood and how much fun it was to wake up on Christmas morning and see what Santa had left for me. Then it became about how excited my kids are on Christmas morning. Dallas says he believes in Santa, but I'm not so sure, if he does I know this will be the last year. I find myself feeling down at times because of my leg, but I am truly thankful to God for all He has given me.

When I first started coming to the Disboards I was looking for information and didn't really do much posting. When we decided on our May 2008 trip I became a more active member and I am so happy that I did . If not for the Disboards I would not have become friends with some truly amazing women and their families. I look forward to sitting down and catching up with my friends everyday. Leanne, Lisa, Connie, Ginny, Christie, Mary and Becky it is a blessing to have you and your families in my life. I know when I'm down or feeling bad or just mad I can come on here and get good advice and a hug from my friends and I know things will get better :grouphug:.

I've been blessed to meet Leanna, Mary and Christie and I look forward to May when we can get together again. I am looking forward to meeting Becky and Lisa in May too. Connie and I are going to plan to meet after Christmas since we live close enough to do it on any weekend. Ginny, I wish you lived closer or were coming down here for a trip. It would be so nice to see you and Don in person.

I want to say THANK YOU to all my friends for being so wonderful. God has truly blessed me with the honor of having you all in my life. I wish everyone a very

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAY GOD WATCH OVER AND BLESS YOU.
