Ok... just a quick question... We are leaving for WDW in 3 weeks and will be on the dining plan. My mother had bariatric surgery so the dining plan is ALOT of food for her. I know in the buffets you can't really "split" a meal so we would all be charged for a meal... but can we split a meal at the restaurants that aren't buffet style? So if we only get one entree and one dessert and then pay for an extra drink is that ok? We actually have ADRs at more restaurants that we have TS credits for so it would work to our benefit anyway. Thanks in advance!

We have done exactly that at various times and various restaurants (with our both having the DDP). As you mentioned, you can share at buffets. The restaurants have allowed it and have never charged extra for bring an extra plate.

Sharing will not be permitted, as you mentioned, at buffets. It is also not permitted at family style all you can eat restaurants like Ohana or Garden Grill or Liberty Tree Tavern, or fixed price, fixed menu restaurants like Akershus or CRT. You also cannot share the all you can eat skillet at Whispering Canyon.

At a la carte restaurants it is entirely up to the restaurant. We have a few reports that some restaurants won't allow it - for example, there are a number of reports that Beaches & Cream will not permit dining plan users to share entrees, and one that California Grill would not allow a child on the dining plan to share with a parent, the child had to order a meal. In most places you will not have a problem, but be aware that some restaurants may not allow sharing.

THanks for the info. I am very aware that any "all you can eat" things or buffets are out and that is fine. It is the other restaurants I was asking about. It is difficult for mom to even eat a kids meal let alone an adult meal but her only dining plan option was an adult. We will make it work no matter. Thanks!

I had bariatric surgery in June and still can only eat Hobbit food as I like to call it :lovestruck: We have the DDP for our trip in February and I have scoped the menus already. We plan to use 2 TS credits for DH and DS. I'll either get a small salad or a cup of soup. Depending on how I feel, I plan to share meat or veg with DH and a few bites of dessert. But really, that's all I could reasonably eat. We figure it's more worth our while to order off the appetizer menu for me with a small salad or soup than to waste a whole TS on me. There's just no way I could eat it.

I am a little worried about CS stuff too since that's mighty big for my tiny tummy. I'll probably get a salad and do what I can with it. For some reason I can eat a lot more veg than I can anything else.

In any case, we think this allows us to enjoy the DDP and dining experience while accomodating my own particular needs. I hope your mom has a great experience too!!!
