Wondering if anyone has information about the swine flu vaccine as it relates to ASD. My son is in fifth grade and I'd hate for him to miss a week of school (my daughter missed 7) with the flu, but I have some concern about his response to the vaccine as well. Thoughts?

Physiologically individuals with Autism genetics are not significantly different from Neurotypcial individuals so from that basis there should not be a concern. Now from a sensory perspective there may be differences in how the delivery and any low grade reaction might impact the person but that is transitory.

If you're son's age group is in the high risk category, just go get it done. It won't guarantee he won't get sick, but it will help prevent him getting the fatal version of the strain and get seriously ill.

The young ones, teens and young adults, are the ones who have been dying from this flu, so just get it done. Not worth risking the wait.
